View 9 RepliesCells in Columns A & B (57 rows deep) have a real time data feed and can have values of blank, "H", or "R". The H and R can remain in the cell for any length of time. I would like to have an audible ding go off whenever a new H or R appears in columns A or B. Is there a cell formula that can do this? I think a macro solution would not work, because the workbook has a macro that activates every 10 seconds, so I assume a macro solution would interfere if both macros happen to activate at the same time.

What I would like to do is make a macro, that will pop up a box (upon opening the .xls file) that states any of the employee who are due to be retrained, as well as what items they need retraining on.
I am an avid greyhound racing fanatic and I would like excel to sound an alarm when a race is due. I have entered all the race times down one column A1-A146 in this format 08:33, 08:37 etc
Is there a way to get excel to use the system clock and check these times and sound an alarm 1 minute before the the time I have entered, i.e. 08:32, 08:37 as in the above examples?
Can excel be made to play an alarm if a condition becomes true?

Each outlet has a row on the spreadsheet with a column for the Temperature and column for the time. I would like to automatically input the current time(or time and date) on each line as the temperature is entered.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a protected worksheet. Users wish to be able to track changes in the input cells. The suggested approach for this is to temporarily disable sheet protection and allow them to change the font color, then protect afterwards. What I would like to do is:
i) check whether they are in an input cell
ii) if so, then prompt the user with the 'Font Color' dialog box
iii) apply the font color selected to the input cell
I'm struggling to find the dialog box I need. I can launch the one to change the interior color, no problem (Application.Dialogs(xlDialogPatterns).Show). But that's no use to me, I just want a color palette that specifically relates to the Font Color
I have one column with as many as 50,000 or more rows. The data format for each row/ cell is unique as shown below ( date and time). I wanted to split the data as shown in "Formatted Data" below. Have Tried Text To Column formatting but didn't work right.
Raw Data: Formatted Data (2 cells):
2005/11/02 23:55:15.758 ==> 2005/11/02 23:55:15.758
2005/11/02 23:58:16.698 ==> 2005/11/02 23:58:16.698
2005/11/03 00:07:13.830
2005/11/03 00:10:14.971
I put the formula in cell which adds 2hrs in the current time. Now I want msgbox when the system time=time in cell. I want to do it from vba..
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a formula to change a condition based on the time of day. Essentially, before 1pm I would like the formula to be:
=((I12/100)*25)/D12
After 1pm I would like the formula to be
=((I12/100)*25)/B12
I tried various ways with "=if(now()> ..." formulas to no avail because of the way Excel handles Now().
I have a Excel Dates & Times column where the time is not always used. In these cases the time is 12:00AM. Is there a way to Custom Formats the cell so that the time is only visible if it is not 12:00AM?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need a way to compare the time of the computer with the one in the cell and bring up a message box if the time matches.
Yet i don't want it to be a one time makro. What i want is to be able to work with the worksheet and that at the same time i want a paralel function to check whether the time in the cell matches. Something like agenda in Outlook.
I have a problem regarding sorting data having date and also time within a single cell.
Example data (I have written it as code to preserve formatting)
A B C D E F
12/5/2008 02:072/5/2008 06:0128804833363
22/5/2008 18:012/5/2008 18:0599271297
Column B is start date and time whereas Column C is end date and time.
My aim is to cut and paste the whole row automatically to Sheet2 if the time is within 2AM to 8AM else leave as it is.Also I don't know anything about VBA Script.
What is the code i need to use to assign a macro to a command button which inserts the current date and time in the selected cell regardless of where that cell is?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI need to subtract the time alone as per below example:
Cell A : 2/4/2014 8:58:13 AM
I need in Cell B as : 2/4/2014 8:46:13 AM (Minus 15 minutes)
How to get this?
I have data exported from a defect management tool (that reports all the defects that have been recorded in the defect management system). This data has unique columns for name of originator, defect ID, date originated, priority, etc. The date originated column has the date and time. I want to create a report that tells me how many High, Medium and Low priority defects were created on each date - and I am using a pivot table to do this.
However, because the date column is actually the date and time the defect was reported/recorded, the time element of this is making all the dates unique eg, I have three defects recorded on 29/01/2009, a High priority defect (reported at 29/01/2009 12:23) and two Medium priority defects (reported at 29/01/2009 13:02 and 29/01/2009 13:32). My pivot table is showing each date as a unique date - with a count of 1 against each, whereas I want to see 1 date entry (for 29/01/2009) with a count of 1 against High and 2 against Medium.
I have tried custom formatting the date column to dd/mm/yyyy - which appears to work in the data (but doesn't in the pivot table, because the time stamp is still there, just not visible). I have tried copy and paste special [Values] (on the custom formatted date column) -but the time stamp is still there. I have tried formatting the date column to "General", but this changes the dates to the number format - eg 29/01/2009 12:23 becomes 39842.5166203704.
I have tried inserting a new column and using the =Left function for the first 10 characters of the cell (ie the 29/01/2009), but that gives the first 10 characters of the number form of the date, ie 39842.5166. Basically, without going into every date cell (and I have thousands) and manually deleting all the times, how do I quickly change the date column into just having the date in it (ie how do I strip off the time element)?
i type into any cell in row 1 i need the time at that moment to be captured and shown in cell "B". When i type into row 2, the time which i entered the data must be captured into row 2 cell "B".

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a worksheet which contains START TIME in column A, then TIME USAGE in column B and END TIME in column C. User enters start time, followed by the number of time usage in minutes, how could i possibly display the end time automatically in this scenario? how do you add the entered time usage to the start time to display the end time? Say if I enter 1:00 AM at start time and 00:15 minutes on time usage, how can 1:15 AM be displayed on the end time automatically?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Excel 2013. Anyway, the first issue is that I need to pull a date and a time period from text. So, for example, if I see something like Sunday Prime Time 7/6/14 8:37PM, I would want to pull ONLY the "7/6/14 8:37PM" out of it. Each text box could potentially be different, so it might not always be in the same format as "Sunday Prime Time 7/6/14 8:37PM" it might only show just the date and/or the time without all the extra text i.e. 7/6/14 8:37PM. Some of the cells will have text, others might only have just the time or even just the date and the time. The only thing that I am worrying about in each cell is extracting just the date and time. If this is too much to ask of excel, I would be ok with extracting ONLY the time - 8:37PM and not the date, but I would much rather be able to get both the time and date.
THEN, onto part two of my question. After I would pull the dates and times, I need to compare them with each other. So, when I have the same date with two separate times on that date, I need to write a formula to show if those times on that date are less than 30 minutes apart. So, if I have 6 times on 7/6/14, I need to know if any of them are less than 30 minutes apart.
I would need to have the formula say something like "Problem" if the times on 7/6/14 would be 5:30PM, 5:48PM, 7:00PM, 8:00PM, 8:15PM, and 9:00Pm for example. I would like to see the word "Problem" since 5:30PM and 5:48Pm is only 18 minutes apart, and "Problem" after 8:15PM since that is only 15 minutes past the 8:00PM which is obviously under 30 minutes. The times that are more than 30 minutes apart such as 7:00PM and 9:00PM for example are more than 30 minutes apart from any of the other times that were extracted.
=TIME(LEFT(H59,FIND("h",H59)-1),RIGHT(H59,2),0)
in cell H61 on all of my worksheets except 3. this gives a time in the format of 2:30PM, 12:30AM etc shown in the cell.
Is it possible to use 'on time' or some other method to run a macro at the time specified in this cell? (or even better 15 minutes before the time specified in this cell) I was hoping i could get some help as i cannot write vba code and can only record macros
I would really like it so that this works on any open worksheet independantly. What i mean is that the time in H61 may vary from sheet to sheet and the number of open sheets may vary, so i may have for example 5 sheets that play my macro at different times.
I am looking to add a function to a current spreadsheet that writes the current date to a cell when another is updated. The sheets function is to have a user record when a particular action has been completed and then remind them after a given amount of time. The user is faced with an option to input a "1" to essentially "start the timer" and then the date that is automatically input by the code will be used to compare with the current date. I have tried the following on the Workbook_SheetChange sub
If ActiveCell.Column = 9 And ActiveCell.Value <> 1 Then
ActiveCell.Offset(-1, 2).Value = Date
End If
But cannot figure out how to eliminate user error. Let me explain. If a user enters a value (will only ever be a 1 to indicate "yes") into column 9 then the date appears in the correct place (two cells to the left) If however a user deletes a value then the date will update one cell too high!? I also thought of using a cell based if statement (if j7 = 1 then today() else "" but this only updates with todays value each time you open where I want the date to stay as the day the cell was updated. The date is going to be used as a way of working out when to change the original value of the cell in column 9 to "".
When a cell changes i would like the cell in the next column to record the date of this change. After achieving this i want to set up conditional formatting to compare this date to the current date and if they are the same then change the original cell's colour to show it changed today!
I started using the code below (from ozgrid) which was working fine BUT my cell value in column A is actually taken from a different column. when the different column cell value changes my cell in A changes but the script below does not seem to see this as a change. it only records the date if i physcially change the cell in A rather than another cell prompting it to change.
based on my overall objective and my plans to date please can someone suggest a solution?
current code below....
I would like to have people enter text in the cells in column A and record the Date and Time they did it in the same cells in column J.
I have tried (in cell J1) If(A1<>"", NOW(),"") but of course the problem is that it keeps updating to the present time. I tried using INT(NOW()) but that doesn't work
I know I could simply Copy and Paste Special over each cell in the J column but that seems terribly inelegant.
I have a workbook with over 900 worksheets.
The macro I have is looping all sheets looking for empty cells in a specific column, and when it founds an empty cell the value for one cell is copied to the empty cell.
But in one worksheet it stops with the error:
Run-time error '1004'
Application-defined or object-defined error
In Cell C4 I have the time 8:00 AM. In Cell D4 I would like to show C4 plus 8 hours.
When I do the simple calculation of:
=C4+8
That doesn't work.
I am trying to write a macro that, with the push of a button, causes the time H:MM:SS to be filled in the next available cell in a column. So in the enclosed sheet, if the yellow button is pressed, the next cell available in D:D (in this case, D9) would be selected, and the current time placed in it. This instead of having to type the current time manually.
Additionally, I would like to check cells B & C for content before I post a time. IOW, if B9 or C9 is blank, I would prompt the user to fill in that data before passing the time back to D9.
