how i insert text box on excel sheet.
In which i take values from user and then manipulate those values on click event of button.
Sheet1 has 500+ rows and 30+ columns of data, sorted by text in column G (last name). I want to create a data input sheet for users to manually key in data. I need help to create a macro to cut and insert the row from the data input sheet into Sheet1 - the first row after it finds a match in column G. The text in G can only be one of ten different "last names".
It needs to be after the first event because of graphing from the data sheet.
Im trying to make a simple macro for cataloging some equipment and where its located.
I've created a user form where there is a free text field for Equipment. Instead of just inserting this entry into the first available cell, i would like for it to place it in the first available cell under the corresponding first letter of the equipment to the named worksheets A-Z.
I have named the worksheets A through to Z, and upon entering the free text 'Equipment' name, say for instance Trolley, for it to recognise the T, open the worksheet named T and insert the equipment name and location etc across the first free column.
I have a column full of numbers e.g. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 etc..
i need to run a program that automatically goes down the selected column and places a hyperlink based the number in EACH cell. e.g. if the cell number is 4, then the link should be
http://www.somsite.com/4
each cell has a unique number
basically i need a macro that can do the following:
for all cells selected in column
get first cells
get info from cell
insert hyperlink+info;
increment cell
end
Im searching for a script to help me insert the current time value when a value within the row is changed. For example, if a value changes within the specified row, i.e. B1 changes, then within B12, the current date is inserted. However if B1 does not change then the old B12 value (old last change date) stays the same.

I am trying to put the picture of the damaged protery in Column A on the same row as the detail about that damaged property using the ActiveSheet.Pictures.Insert function. The name of the picture is located in Column B. There are multiple sheets in the Excel book and each contains from 10 to over 700 rows. I would like to run the macro based on the active sheet to add the pictures one sheet at a time. I would like the pictures to be about 1.2" High by 1.6" Wide and be actually be within the cell of Column A of the row where the detail information is located. I have played with writing my own code, pieces of others code and full code sets I found in the Forum. Nothing works. Below is the best I found so far but, it uses Column C for the placement of the pictues.
When I try to run the below code I get Run-Time Error "1004" "Unable to get the insert Property of the Picture class".
I'm not sure if this code should work in Excel 2003 or not.
Excel 2003 / WinXP. I have a list object with 5 columns, A - E, and all cells have a border round them. I need a macro which will:
1. insert a row below the current row (whatever cell happens to be selected)
2. then remove the left hand border of the cell in column B in the new row,
3. then select the adjacent cell in column C in the new row ready for data entry.
Obviously I cannot specify any absolute addresses in the code, and this is where all my attempts to record a suitable macro fall down.
I have two spreadsheets in Excel 2003.
Spreadsheet 1 has 10 columns of data (A-J). I want to copy a variable number of rows from spreadsheet 1 to spreadsheet 2.
When I paste into spreadsheet 2, I'd like to automatically insert blank cells in three places, taking the total number of columns to 13. I'd like columns C, F and I to be blank, and the last column with data to be M.
I will perform this task regularly, and add the copied cells to the bottom of spreadsheet 2, so I'd only like to insert blank cells within the range that I'm copying, not the entire spreadsheet.
I will then populate the blank cells with a VLOOKUP function. Do I need another macro to automatically add the formula to the cells, or is there a way to include this in the cell-inserting macro?
I am trying to insert three columns within a large amount of data. I am using Excel 2003 edition. The three columns need to measure max, min, and standard deviation of month long ranges and the data goes all the way back to 1993.
Currently, I have a column that has the correct ranges but finds the average for each month
(=AVERAGE($H7214:$H7243))...
And many more ranges as it dates back all the way to '93. Is there a possible way to insert these three columns with their respective commands (=MAX... =MIN... etc.) while keeping all the ranges from the AVERAGE column.
In effect, I am looking to solely switch the begining of the column command
(=AVERAGE($H7214:$H7243)) to (=MIN($H7214:$H7243) etc...
While keeping all of the specified ranges from the AVERAGE column.
When I copy from Excel 2003 (values & formulas) and paste special into Excel 2007 i get the option screen to select unicode text,sylk etc instead of the other screen with the option of values,formulas,formats etc.How can I select the option for value,formulas?
Sorry cannot attach a screen shot as it is above the allowed limit.
I'm having a 6000+ records, (contacts DB) exported in Excel 2003 format from MS Outlook.
Except the "First" and "LastName", all other contact elements are in the field "Notes" (which is the BZ column according to the exported outlook layout) multiplied by 6469 (records in total)
Useful information are included !!!
I'll give an example of a record...
Column: BZ, Row: 543 says --> "2110000000-6989000000, 1TOK_TER:17-11-010(25 DAYS LESS),
KATERINA 25 (MANTAS KALNNNNN_HYPERTENSION)1000-150, W:95_105, , HR THE 16wks_US NEFRON OK,
NT OK_B EPIP OK(GOLF BALL)_KAMPILI ORIAKI(DIAITA)_DOPPLER OK, O+,TEST OK(TOX_), , , , , , "
Now, I want every time to take the part of the text says "TER:something..." (part of which is date, but not every time with the known format dd-mm-yyyy, as you see here is yyy, followed by something else, with parenthesis here and maybe more data) and copy it in a new cell..., e.g:CO Column, same Row...
Above and every field which by the way is formatted as General (and it is text mainly) are made by merging older excel fields where data laid here and there, that's why you see the commas...with the method of a module with the following code:
Function MyMerge(Rng As Range)
For Each Cell In Rng
Temp = Temp & Cell.Value & ", "
Next Cell
Temp = Mid(Temp, 1, Len(Temp) - 2)
MyMerge = Temp
End Function
Note1:Records with the above string (TER:dd-mm-yyy) are 771 from 6469.
Note2: As an alternative solution I can see an extraction of the TER:dd-mm-yyy string and the copy in a new place, like the:CO Column, same Row...
Date: 17/09/2013 KO: 19:45 Ref: B Malone Att: 7,574 extraction of text from the above text string which is say in A1. What l need is for Date to go in A2, KO in B2, Ref in C2, & Att in D2. I'm using Excel 2003

I can see how the coding has been set up and why this is happening, unfortunately I don't have the knowledge to workout how to change it to the code to include the whole row without deleting information, which I don't want to do.
I'm struggling constantly with the Excel 2007 I use, and the Excel 2003 that another group uses.
I'm dealing with large files; 200000 to 300000 rows often.
I wish there was a setting or way to automatically force excel 2007 to create a file in 2003 format.....meaning I want 260000 rows to automatically be divided up into 4 sheets limited to 65K each. 260001 rows would be put into 5 sheets, so that I could save it as an excel 2003 file.
Is there also a way to do this from access 2007 exported to excel?(I know that's an access question and probably outside the bounds of this board).
I have a series of tabs with data, 25 columns by 600 rows, all with numbers. A cell should be red and lined out if its' corresponding cell on the very last tab is less than 50. I've tried to name range the area on the last tab (RawBuyers) and use it in a Formula Is CF on the first worksheet, but I get errors.
I'm seeking help with a CF formula that I can apply to each tabs data range.
I've seen threads similar to my issue, so I apologize if this is redundant (but nothing I've found is doing the trick.)
Some time ago I was developing a worksheet with a large amount of code in it, and I got some kind of 'out of memory' error. I seem to remember it turned out that the error was because I had too much vba code in a single worksheet. I think I overcame the problem by moving routines out of the sheet and into a module.
I'm probably going to be approaching this limit again with something I'm wroking on now (although I haven't had any errors yet.) Does anyone know what the maximum amount of code you can have in a single worksheet in Excel 2003 is? And is there an easy way to find out how much code you have in a worksheet?
I can't seem to make user-defined format that puts a text in front of a number and/or a text.
Let's say I have A1: 13, A2: texttext A3: text7 and I want to format a lot of cells to "Ilike 13" / "Ilike texttext" / "Ilike text7"... ie add the same text in the front of the cell, no matter what the content is.
I did manage it seperately, with "texttext" @ for text and "texttext" # for numbers, but what's the general one?
I have written a vba program that creates a report in excel. Most of the pages of the report are created at runtime. I have an image on a hidden worksheet that I need to place into one of the worksheets that is created at runtime. The image is an excel chart that I copied and pasted as a picture. I did this so that I could resize it easily and all of the elements of the chart would maintain their relative sizes. I have tried:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to copy parts of a worksheet from excel 2003 to word 2003. I've found code that does this alright but I need to be able to re-size the the pasted data to fit the word document. Is there a way to set the properties of the word document like change it to landscape and move the margins etc? Even a simple "reduce the table size to fit the word document". I've included the code i've got already. This code will open up a word document and copy your cells into it but without any useful options. So its ok for a small group of cells.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a simple macro that cycles through the sheets in a workbook, and if the sheet's codename matches one of a defined list, some of its data is added to a summary sheet.
The macro works exactly as intended, but a strange thing happened yesterday: some data was missing from the summary sheet because one of the sheets was being ignored. This sheet is named 'MCP' on its tab, and has codename Sheet8.
Here's the strange part: on stepping through the code, cycling the sheets, I noticed that the sheet icon, name and codename had disappeared from the Microsoft Excel Objects folder in the Project Explorer. When the loop got to the sheet in question
Code:
For Each ws In ThisWorkbook.Worksheets
Debug.Print ws.Name
Debug.Print ws.Codename
The above code displayed its name (correctly) as 'MCP', but its codename was blank; the sheet was therefore skipped by the code because the codename had to match against a defined list.
While I was pondering this, and doing some web searches, the sheet then re-appeared in the Project Explorer and everything worked again.
My question is this: is it likely to be due to the workbook being shared? I know that workbook sharing in Excel is often discouraged, but this is a simple workbook only used by a maximum of three users (two of these had the workbook open at the time the issue was reported)
I've changed the code so that the sheet name is inspected in the event that the codename is blank, which should guard against the issue provided sheets are not deleted/renamed.

I am creating an invoice form in Excel 2003. I like to know if it is possible to increase the value of cel A1 by one everytime a new sheet is created.
For example i created my first worksheet and gave an invoice number 001. Now I create a new worksheet by right clicking on the tab and choose copy/move. I like the second work sheet change the invoice number to 002.
I have inherited a number of databases in work (running Office 2003). It has quickly become apparant that a vast amount of work is duplicated and so i am trying to cut down the data input and therefore the possible errors.......
I have narrowed most of the work down and now have a major worksheet (is that what you call a complete Excel file) named "master database" and several over minor files....
Currently what i am trying to do is to get the minor files (68 seperate files) to auto populate an area of the master database. I will try to explain it below...
1. Minor database has 2 columns with data i require to auto populate the master database. (1 column (B) is called 'off', the 2nd column (C) is called 'on').
2. A number will be inputed manually into either 'B' only or 'B and C' columns, depending on the criteria of the job..
3. The criteria of the job is dictated by column (Z) where the text 'A' or 'ATL' is inputed
4. The master database i would like to add up the numbers inputed as a total from columns 'off' and 'on' and place them into seperate columns 'E' and 'G' of the master database.
5. IF column (Z) shows 'A' then only column (B) 'off' is to be calculated and put into the master database at column (E)
6. IF column (Z) shows 'ATL' then BOTH columns (B and C) 'on' AND 'off' are to be added together and column (G) populated on the master database.....
To make matters more complex. An expiry date is shown on the master database at columns (D) and (F).
IF column (E) does not exceed 12 by the expiry date, i would like the cell (D) to turn red
IF column (G) does not exceed 10 by the expiry date, I would like the cell (F) to turn red
I've added some code the adds a button to a worksheet
Public Sub AddSheetPrintButton()
Dim btn As Button
Dim t As Range
Set t = ActiveSheet.Range(Cells(1, 6), Cells(1, 7)) ' button position
Set btn = ActiveSheet.Buttons.Add(t.Left, t.Top, t.Width, t.Height)
With btn
.OnAction = "sheetPrint"
.Caption = "Print Sheet"
.Name = "Print"
.Font.ColorIndex = 10
End With
End Sub
This works fine until the workbook is shared!
I recently launched a model that uses filtering on protected worksheets. The model was developed in Excel 2000, and everything works perfectly for the users who are also on 2000, but my Excel 2003 users get an error on opening the workbook.
The error asks for the password to unlock the sheet and is difficult to clear. Users have to hit Cancel 8 times to clear the error, at which point, the model appears to function perfectly. (There are 12 worksheets in the model, 2 with filters, all locked and password protected.)
The follwoing code is in the 'ThisWorkbook' module:
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
With Worksheets("Initiatives")
.Protect DrawingObjects:=True, contents:=True, userInterfaceOnly:=True
.EnableAutoFilter = True
.Protect contents:=True, userInterfaceOnly:=True
End With
Because the error occurs when first opening the model but not at other times, I'm thinking that there's something in the Workbook_Open procedure that is causing the error.
When I enter the letter s in cell A6 it auto.shows Sept.also the letter d shows Dec.automatically etc.. how to stop this...
View 9 Replies View RelatedCreating a macro that updates and copies part of a worksheet in Excel 2003 and pastes it in MS Word. The sheet I have is a sheet that updates some prices etc and after it updates I usually select a square (part of the sheet), press CTRL+C to copy it and paste it as a picture (paste special ) in word. Is there a way to automate the process?
I am thinking a macro that updates the sheet, copies and pastes iit on word??
I am using Excel 2003.
I have 2 worksheets.
Worksheet 1 is called "Master List Data". Every cell within this worksheet contains a formula so that it matches the cell value contained in a worksheet held within another workbook.
The formula for reference is as follows:
=IF('[CCL Breakdown.xls]MASTER LIST - Active Customers '!A1="","",'[WFX CCL Breakdown.xls]MASTER LIST - Active Customers '!A1) .
e.g.
If Cell A1 on Master List-Active Customer contains no data, Cell A1 in Master List Data would be blank.
If Cell A1 on Master List-Active Customer equals John Smith, Cell A1 in Master List Data would display John Smith.
There are currently non-blank values contained in cells A4:A750. But next week there may be non-blank values is cells A4:A790 (i.e. it will grow each week)
Worksheet 2 is called "Master List Flat. At the moment, I am manually copying and pasting the rows which have non-blank values in cells from Column A from Worksheet 1 into this report (e.g. A4:IV4).
I would like to automate this process and I have created a Macro, but I do not know how to word it so that it will only copy cells with actual data in.
The Macro I have written is below:
Sub IMPORTANDFLATTENDATA()
'
' IMPORTANDFLATTENDATA Macro
' Macro recorded 01/10/2012 by walesb
'
'
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Sheets("Master List Flat").Select
Rows("4:759").Select
[Code]....
I have a bit of code that calls a formatting sub depending on which cell is modified. It is triggered by the Worksheet_Change event, determines which cell is modified, and either calls the formatting sub or doesn't based on the location of the modified cell.
Some of the columns in the sheet have data validation with drop downs. If I select a value from the drop down, it doesn't trigger the Worksheet_Change. If I type a value into the same cell, it does.
This was apparently an issue in Excel '97, but supposedly fixed in '03?
