Normalize Data Across Duplicates But Keep Field Containing Overwritten Values?

I have a file of company name exactly duplicated. Within each duplicate set of rows each row can have a different account code (number).

I need to normalise all rows to one account code (any one will do - I can actually do this bit using some commercial software so this bit can be skipped as part of this thread) but also keep every variation/different account code in an 'audit trail' field for each row.

The attached sample file shows the input and desired output i would like.

An account number should consist of 7 digits. Sheet 1-When the data was downloaded from an application any account that contains a zero in front of the number then it would drop the zero and becomes an 6 digits account (note: not all accounts have a zero in front). How can I normalize this so that when I try to reference/lookup to the correct account number it would know to match.

Copy And Paste - Existing Data Overwritten

I have 2 opened workbooks. Call them BookCopy.xls and BookPaste.xls.

In BookCopy.xls I have filtered data which I want to copy ("shtCopy") and insert into a particular row in sheet ("shtPaste") in BookPaste.xls.

"shtPaste" already has data in it. Hence when I paste the data in, I don't want the existing data to be overwritten.

How to normalize a simple array (1 column) of 1000+ cells

I tried:

=STANDARDIZE(A2,A3,A4)

A2 the array that I want to normalize (serie of values)
A3 the Arithm. Mean (Average) for the target array (the correct array, same data type)
A4 STDEVP for the target array (the correct array).

But not sure that this formula is for normalizing (shift data set till it fits the histogram bell shape of the target data set)

I was able to do the normalization by hand using Histogram in Excel Statistics and then (linear) shifting my data (adding a constant) till I had a good fit when overlaying the two histograms, but I like to do it with a formula.

Below a sample of the data: the first column is my model (target) the second the data to be normalized and the third column after I subtracted 10 to the second column so it fitted in the histogram of the first column (cannot attach the Excel file as it is too large)

Getting Zero Formula Field When Data Field Blank / Empty

I have a simple formula ='info page'!b2&'info page'!b5 in places that on my sheet adds a company prefix to a item number, prefix in b2 and item in b5, we have a client that we cant use prefixes but now when I leave the field blank its giving a zero and thats not good either. I'm pretty sure an IFERROR or something will work but can get the syntax right.

Background Text To Be Overwritten

I am trying to create a user form, and need to admit at this point that unfortunately I have no knowledge of VBA - bog standard excel formulae are what I know!

I am trying to create a section for people to enter an address, and in itself this is quite straightforward, but I want to be able to enter faint text in the cells as an information instruction that will disappear as someone starts to type in that cell. Can anyone help with a method that would work within Excel versions 2000, 2003 & 2007? (I realise that I could insert a comment, but it's not an obvious instruction, and given the Excel knowledge of a lot of people who will be using this form, it would be completely overlooked!)

Why Are Formulas Automatically Overwritten By Result

When I enter a formula into a cell, for instance; (d27*d28/144)*d23, and then enter a number into cell d23, the formula gets replaced by the value of the result automatically.

I've searched the help files and found no setting that does this. It reminds me of an old question I've had lingering since I've used excel and that is why sometimes when you enter a math calculation, for intance; =25/5, the number 5 is entered into the cell instead of the formula.

After I posted the above, the problem magically went away until.....

This is boggling my mind. The problem is back.

The wierd thing is I copy a known good formula to one of these cells, for a split second you can see the formula in the formula window and then it gets changed automatically to the result of the formula. Formula is gone!

Then I tried this:

I set security to high (I had it on Low) and of course my macros would not run, but this did not clear up the problem. However when I set security back to low, it now seems to be working good. I am scepticle (sp.?) though because the problem is very random.

Could I have a virus?

Conditional Formatting: Show If A Formula Has Been Overwritten

There is a clever piece of conditional formatting designed to show if a formula has been overwritten. It works by creating a range called (say) CellHasFormula and then entering =GET.CELLl(48,Indirect("rc",false)) in the reference box. In the cell you wish to conditionally format you enter =CellHasFormula. If the formula in that cell is overwritten, then the conditional formatting is displayed.

I have a spreadsheet that retrieves data from a 3rd party app/database. The data that is returned has two dates..

ie..
1/1/051.31.4
1/1/051.31.4
1/2/051.31.5
1/2/051.31.5
1/3/051.32.6
1/3/051.30
etc..

What I would like to see is..

1/1/051.32.8
1/2/051.33.0
1/3/051.32.6

Date range varies, but usually there are two dates retrieved. Date is pulled and display within A2:A700 Range.

For example, a list would be Product1 / Product2 / Product3 .... I would like to read that list and put it into a drop down list in a form.

Hiding The Duplicates Values..

I'm trying to hide all but one duplicate value in a list; I have a report that can give multiple results for each record, but to make it cleaner to read I want to hide the duplicate values, such as customer names etc. after they have first appeared. I'm aware this may not be a very clear explanation so have attached an example spreadsheet.

The left-hand list is similar to what I would start with and the right-hand list is what I am looking to achieve. Conditional formatting will format duplicates but will obviously all to all and can't use the remove duplicates function as it will take away the unique values alongside them in the row. Preferably I'm after a solution that works in both '03 and '07 but it's not a disaster if I can only do it in '07.

I have a long list of checks and I need to find the duplicates, determine how many dupicates there are for a given check (the criteria is if the ENTIRE ROW is dupicated), and highlight HALF of the duplicated rows.

I am able to sort the table however needed.

Here is the logic I was thinking of following..

If Row is Duplicated
Select Case Boolean
Case True
Count how many are duplicated
If count is even then
NumberToDelete = Count*0.5
For i = 1 to NumberToDelete
Highlight one of the duplicated rows in red background
Next i
Else
Next Record (do not highlight anything)

We are having a problem merging our databases. We are using excel to streamline databases to be included in our GiftWorks database of donors. However we are having the problem of many duplicates with multiple addresses, contact info etc. I have come to find that there is no way other than the "bitch work" method of going thru by hand in the GiftWorks database to find duplicates. However we can make a smartlist and export to excel and then perhaps merge the new info with this one. I was just wondering if there is anyway to sort duplicates and merge their information by first name/last name.

I have a random set of numbers located in one column. This is the only data located on the entire worksheet. I need an Excel macro that will delete all duplicates except for any specified values. For example, I have a set of random numbers in one column and I need to delete all duplicates except for the number 12. All duplicates of the number 12 must remain. The numbers must remain in their original order and not be sorted.

The numbers will always be located in column A, but will not always be the same quantity. One time I may have 10 numbers, and the next I may have 20. The number for which duplicates must remain will also vary. I have written small Excel macros that delete rows, blanks, and duplicates but this is way beyond my capabilities.

Can't Append Leading Zero To Text Field Populated With Number Values

I have a column with a general format that looks like this: "057828001 - WACS - Irving".

I need to remove the latter part of the value " - WACS - Irving"

I am doing that by using the replace all and typing in "-*"; that gives me a result of 57828001.

I need a result of 057828001.

How do I retain the leading zero?

I have 30 teams with 15 players each

I have teams in rows and players columns with their ID and then name so B2 would be 444 and B3 would be Johnson and B4 would be 429 and B5 would be Smith

I am confident the answer is no, but is there any formula / combination of formulae that will seek out unique values in a list of duplicates (just like filtering unique records only)?

I have a list of many duplicating sales people and I want to just create a column on another sheet that automatically sorts out the unique values (then I will sum their sales numbers with the SUMIF formula).

(By the way, the reason I just don't use the filter function is because the list always changes so I would need to keep applying it.)

Auto Populate Field With Date When Other Field Is Selected From Validation List

In the following extract, I would like to have today's date placed into Col K when an entry is made into Col J.

Entry into Col J is from a validation list of 3 options. What I desire is that when one of these options is selected ("Complete"), then I would like today's date to be written into Col K.

Currently Col K has a validation list which comprises dates from 1st of each month from July to June.

I need a fixed date as text preferably, so was thinking the VBA function "Date" on a Change Workbook Sub.

The information is currently part of a Table in Excel 2007 that has about 500 records.

In building my pivot table my data that I want to show in the column area is showing up as rows stacked on top of each other. In the column section I'm trying to show Total Budgeted Amount next to Total Actual Amount but on the layout it's showing the two stacked on top of each other is there some kind of hidden key that I'm missing?
