I m writing a macro that will match duplicating cells in an excel spreadsheet. Here is an example.

I have 2 worksheets, A and B. In both worksheets there is common data in column A (account ID). I would like to find a way to return all of the data for the matching row in worksheet B and have it pasted into the matching row in worksheet A.
So in the example below, I am looking for a function that will match on Account ID in both worksheets and then paste the results from Dataset 1, 2 and 3 into the row with the matching Account ID in worksheet A.

As a simple example, I have three columns (A,B,C). In both Column A and B they have single word text in them, but in Column C it is a paragraph of words that I format the cells to 'fill' so that it is all tight and concise when viewing the worksheet.
Afer I have saved the document and have closed it when I reopen the document. Cells from column C have randomly duplicated themselfs throughout the entire worksheet,but only onto columns A,B,C (where there is pre-existing text). As the random cells get duplicated it overrights the original text (results) as it does it, so once I open up a document and see this it is to late. this is a continual problem that I cant find a resolution for.
(Excel 2007), I have a template that I need duplicated for every reference. My Worksheet lists all the references and the macro use to duplicate a worksheet for every reference in the worksheet. The problem is when duplicating now, it duplicates the name of the template. For example, when the macro is ran sheet1= Template(1), sheet2= Template(2) ect.

I am trying to copy two cells from one worksheet to another in the same work book based on the value in Column B of one of the sheets. This is just a building block to a larger script I am going to create.
Below is my attempt but I keep getting an error at Range(Cells(x, 3)).Select.
I am struggling with a macro that I’m trying to create. Basically what it would do is it would start at cell K1 on a sheet called “Database” and look for the value contained in cell K1 in the entire sheet.
It would paste all matches until no more are found into a sheet called “Matches”. Cell K1 would also be moved to this sheet if matches were found against it. It would then move on to the next non-empty cell in column K.
If no matches were found it would move on to the next non-empty cell.
My task is to combine two large databases into one spreadsheet by extending the number of columns. The data from each database is 90% matching based on an identification number, however occasionally there are additional rows or unmatched identification numbers that need to be kept for analysis.
When this happens, there needs to be a blank row inserted to represent the missing data in the rest of the corresponding row.
I am having trouble finding a quick way to do this because I have approximately 12,000 rows (and columns up to DV when combined).

I am guessing I will need a macro of sorts, So far I have made one column that tell me if the ID's are matching or not (1 or 0) and if they are not matching (0) I manually insert the rest of the row that is missing or make space for the duplicate data (which needs to remain).
I’d like to be able to highlight ONLY the text as shown below based on the look up column. Conditional Formatting will highlight the whole cell, which is not what I want. Is this possible ?

In Column A I have first names, In column B I have last Names, in column C I have id letters,
Column D another list of First Names And In Column E I have another list of Last Names
So what I need to do in F2 is Look at the name Last name in E2 (Lets say its Smith) then look down the Last names In Column B when you find a match look at the First name on the same row to see if the first 3 letters are the same as the first 3 letters in D2 if they are then put the id that's in cell C into F2 if not ""
I've been trying for hours but no luck, also if you do manage to do it can you tell me how you get it to look at the first 3 letters and how I could change that to 4?

Using the below formula cell $L$11 (it contains "abc") will not match the respective cell contents in array E:E even though "abc" is in a cell within column E.

The cells within column E are populated using a formula such as =IF(MID(A6,3,1)="a",MID(A6,435,9),"")
Column A is the data source and contains a text string.
After much trial and error, it seems the cause preventing the match is; $L$11 contains typed in text "abc" and the above formula for column E is pulling in 9 characters, not just 3.
It seems that if I can modify the entry for the array E:E to just look at the left 3 characters only, it may work.Problem is I do not know how to modify E:E accordingly.
I am trying to use some vba match function code to return the column number of the matching date. The date will be stored in a date variable.
Every time I run this code I normally get a match error even though the date is in the worksheet and the variable matches that date.

I am looking for a formula that will satisfy the following:
1) find all the values in column "A" that match
2) In column "G", sum up all the values in "F" that go with the matching values in column "A"
3) For example, in rows 14-16, the values in column "A" match. Cell G16 sums up F14:F16
I'm trying to create a formula in cell f13 of my attached spreadsheet "Sample 1" that will search the 2nd attached spreadsheet "Sample 2" and return the correct serial number based on both the matching PO # (located in cell E10 on Sample Sheet 1 and in Column 5 on Sample Sheet 2) and Product # (cell A13 on my Sample Sheet 1). My current formula is not returning the correct result and I'm not sure why.
View 4 Replies View RelatedExcel 2010: I'm working with a sheet where I would like to get accurate results on the make and model of cars sold in a given week. The workbook contains several worksheets each representing weekly sales numbers for different vehicles.
The Make-Models tab has the lists used to create the drop-down selections.
The Sales tab allows one to create an ad hoc report on the total number of vehicles sold, by Make and Model. Cell B2 is named 'SelectedModel' and used in the formula found in column E, Total Sold.
Problem: When I select Honda, for example in B2 of the Sales worksheet then select Accord in cell B3 of the same. The results returned in E2, E3 and E4 are 2, 3 and 4, respectively, instead of 8, 3 and 7.
2 Honda Accords were sold on Monday and 6 on Tuesday of the same week. My formula is only returning the first matched value of 2 whereas I would like it to return 2+6, 8 for week 1. Same goes for other weeks.
Select any other make and model and notice the problem follows. I believe the error is due to incorrect usage of the formula or incorrect formula altogether.

I have a WB with multiple sheets. I have a Feed sheet that automatically pulls data from the web. I have a Scores sheet that currently has all head to head matchups each week for an entire season. So I want to check the cells on the Feed! sheet to find a partial match and if partial match exists then copy cell that contents score from feed sheet to the score sheet next to the appropriate teams name. Currently I have to manually enter all scores each week for the rest of my WB to update.
I need to look at Cell A3 (on the Feed sheet) which has "New York Jets" then search for a partial/similar match on the score Sheet (which is NY JETS, in this case). NY JETS could be in column B (rangeB2:B257) OR column D (rangeD2:D257) BUT I need to search by row, not column, then once a match is found check the cell to the immediate right and only if the cell is blank copy data from the (!feed) sheet to that blank cell on the (!scores) sheet
This is what happens if working right =
look at cell A3 on the (!feed) sheet = "New York Jets" then search (!scores) sheet Column B and Column D by row for a partial match, finds "NY JETS" as match in cell D8, if cell E8 is blank then copies cell H3 from (!feed) sheet, and pastes to cell E8 on the (!scores) sheet, if cell is not blank continues search until 1st blank cell to the right of matching cell is found (as there will be mutiple matching cells with blank cells to the right but I am only interested in the 1st blank cell found, once found and data copied the process is done and then starts over with cell A4)
Look at cell A4 (!feed)= "New England Patriots" then search (!scores) sheet Column B and Column D by row, finds "NEW ENGLAND" as match in cell B8, if cell C8 is blank then copies cell H4 (!feed) sheet, and paste to cell C8 (!scores)
Once this is done it moves on to the next cell in the next row on the (!feed) sheet, A5, to find a partial match for the data in that cell. I need to continue the search for each cell A3 to A74, and if no match is found to move on to the next cell A6... (based on the way the data is pulled in from the web there are some blank cells as well as some cells that say Game Final, this data won't be on the scores sheets in column B or D).
I need a macro that can search a sheet for a match and then copy all 7 cells to the right of the match. I have attached an example of the sheet that will serve as the database to search, and a userform example that will be similar to the userfrom that will display the copied cells when a match is found. I plan to copy and paste the 7 cells to a different sheet so that the userform can display the results with the control source property. I do not need a way to add to this database. I know very little about searching a database so.

I don't mean to be lazy and just ask for a macro code, but I'm a complete excel novice and just looking for a quick and easy fix rather than copy/pasting these entries manually.. edit: this file has a deadline for it, which is the reason for the quick fix not to just get out of learning how to do it
I've tried to make a macro consisting of inserting a row, copying a row then pasting it, but that only worked for the first row that I'm duplicating.
I am trying to make an inventory cover page - that shows data of separate products on different sheets with the following;
Product
Date
Previous Total
Amount Taken
New Total
and occasionally there is a Re-issue of stock to the previous total.
This is at the moment an historical record as anyone can see the usage across the dates for any particular product by looking at the sheet. Each time there is a change to the inventory it is recorded on a new row. But what I am trying to do is to copy the last row of data from each sheet to the cover page to show an overall inventory.
The part where I get stuck is making the selection of the last entered row of data [from each sheet] automatically updating the coverpage, when each sheet will get new data added frequently.
I thought about somehow making a duplicate of the last row and locking it in place and linking that to the coverpage - but I still do not have a clue on how to get it to automatically select the last row of the data.
I have attached a spreadsheet here showing when people have had squash coaching.
What I would like to do is have a summary section at the bottom showing how many sessions each person has had throughout the month, at which club.
So where a club code such as the "C" "N" or "NO" is used I would like to insert the person's name in the summary section at the bottom.
If the same person's name occurs again I would like to simply (that's the hard bit for me!) use one cell to continue to count his number of sessions - rather than duplicating his name over and over in a list, as would be done by using COUNTIF.
I'm well lost on how this might be done but am sure that it must be possible?
I am in need of duplicating a current workbook for others use such that when I update information in the original all those who have a copy of the duplicate will get the updates I have made. I have searched all over for linking workbooks together and I am familiar with linking cells and other small bits of information from other workbooks but in this case I want a duplicate workbook that is updateable from my source workbook.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a KPI spreadsheet which utilizes named ranges to allow for Dynamic charting. I've created the first data input sheet for one of the 10 areas being KPIed. The sheet has 60 named ranges in it.
The goal is to duplicate the existing sheet (Area 1A) 10 times and adjust the named ranges and formulas within the named ranges according to the sheet names.
Is there a way to accomplish this without having to manually recreate or edit every named range for each new sheet?
I am attempting to duplicate data from the first cell in each row in Sheet1 to the first cell in 6 rows in Sheet2.
I want to do this for each row in Sheet1. For example, I want to take cell A1 from Sheet1 and copy what was in that into Sheet2 into cells A1-A6. Then I want to take A2 from Sheet1 and copy what was in that into Sheet2 into cells A7-A12.
Is there an easier way to go about doing this? I have too many rows in Sheet1 to do this by hand.
Edit: I know the formula for getting a value from Sheet1 and put into Sheet2 cells A1-A6: =(Sheet1!A1)
I'm trying to automate some documents we use on a regular basis so that we don't have to re-enter the same information over and over again. Basically I can get some cells to work and some will not. My first sheet is a contract. So I want Customer and Contractor info to show up on the rest of the sheets. I'm assuming something is messed up in the formatting of the cells but I can't figure out what.
So on my Job Book Cover Sheet I first want the GC's name and the code =Contract!G8 works perfectly. In the cell just under this one I want the Customers Name, but =Contract!C8:D8 (the cells on the contract with the Customers Name) returns #VALUE!
That said, the code =Contract!C8:D8 on my project detailer sheet returns the customer name like I want it to.
What exactly do I want to count?
I want to count how many unique serial numbers there are for a particular production error?
For example
Column A = Serial Number (which is too many are same) so won't the duplicated.
Column B = Error Message "Error"
Which formula can count's how many serial with error was encountered on the summary sheets.
The following code was supplied by Bill, but I want to do the same thing in B10:B164, where "x" is entered in B10 and the time stamp is entered in C10 & D10.

I am working on a spreadsheet for a shoe company. I have separate columns for the size, model, color, and item number of a shoe. I get everything except for the item number from a written document; I then have to find the item number for the shoe from another excell document called the Master List.
I was hoping there would be a way to have Excell auto-fill the item number for me. For example, if a shoe is a Red, Athens (the shoe model),size 12, its item number (which can be a pain to find) listed in the row of the Master List is aaabbb. So I want to just enter in the size, color and model number, and have Excell find the item number for me, and fill it in.
I have enclosed an example. Sheet 1 is the sheet I would be working on. Sheet 2 is a portion of the Item master list, which is actually 50k lines.
