To Filter Then Protect Rows With Certain Word

Mar 6, 2007

I need to protect and unprotect rows of data on my "Near Miss Data" sheet, periodically.

When data is added via a Userform, one of the columns (column N) will have either a YES or NO in it. Those rows which have a NO in column N, needs to be unlocked. Those which have a YES, need to be locked. BTW ~ The yes' and nos refer to whether it's completed or not
I am planning to CALL the code below to protect/unprotect as needed, but i am struggling with the code to use so i can unlock those rows with NO in column N

Sub Unprotect()
' Simply UNPROTECTS the sheet
Sheets("Near Miss Data").Select
ActiveSheet.Unprotect Password:="lock"
MsgBox "unprotected"
End Sub

Sub Protect()
' Simply PROTECTS the sheet
Sheets("Near Miss Data").Select
ActiveSheet.Protect Password:="lock", DrawingObjects:=True, Contents:=True, Scenarios:=True
MsgBox "protected"
End Sub

Lock / Protect Rows Past Due Date

Mar 5, 2008

I have a workbook list of activities that I am hoping will visualise the scheduling of routine maintenance tasks in my engineering department. The date of the most recent check is entered in row 6 and the interval in row 5. Hence the number 7 denotes a weekly check. The conditional format is such that the reds indicate that a check needs to be carried out. If the check is done on the scheduled day then a "Y" is entered into the square. This will then turn the square green. If "Y" is entered on any other day then the square turns orange to indicate the check is done, if not on time. The red squares do not change colour unless a yes is entered. This is designed to show the history of checks and give us the opportunity to show compliance to routines. What I need to do is lock the rows that have passed the current date, to prevent unscupulous modification. Thus the macro would look down column A and if the date is less than today() would lock the row. I have truncated the file as much as I can. A nice to have would be the facility for an adminstrator to go in (perhaps password protected) to make changes if necessary.

Error In Filtering Table - Additional Rows Shown / Rows Hidden When Filter Removed

Mar 4, 2014

I have an excel file with a table in it. It contains 2051 records (attached). This is just a sample, the original file has around 30,000 rows.

When I start using filters, I run into problems:

Step 1: Filter by Unit, condition (e.g.) Unit_23
Excel shows in the status bar the following message: 437 of 2050 records found.

Step 2: If I scroll to the bottom of the table, the row numbers are colored in blue (normal for a filtered list) however the last row is not colored and it actually should not be shown since its unit is not what I filtered for (its unit is Unit_25)

Step 3: Clear the filter of Unit

Step 4: Sometimes (depending on what I filter for), one or more of the bottom rows are hidden!!!

It would be most convenient to keep the data in these worksheets but hide it from view of the users.

Macro To Delete Merged Rows According To Key Word

Oct 5, 2009

I have got an excel sheet with 2 columns A and B.

Column A's rows are merged according to column B. E.g.

Column A:

Row 1-7 (merged) Ron

Column B:

Row 1: New Jersey
Row 2: New Delhi
Row 3: New Jersey
Row 4: New York
Row 5: New York
Row 6: New Jersey
Row 7: New York

My result should be like:

Column A:

Row 1: Ron

Column B:

Row 1: New York

and similarly for other rows also.

PS: The no. of rows merged for column A can be different.

Also the keyword that should be present in Column B should be according to hierarchy, New York, New Delhi and then New Jersey i.e. first the macro should check for New York, if its present (in 1st 7 rows according to example given) then New York should be written in Coulmn B, if New York is not present then it should check for New Delhi and New Delhi should be written in Column B and if New York and New Delhi both are not present then it should check for New Jersey.

There are only 3 keywords which need to be checked i.e. New York, New Delhi and New Jersey.

If these 3 keywords are not present then the macro should not do anything.

Searching A Column For A Word And Deleting All Rows That Don't Contain It

Jun 21, 2007

I am trying to create a search function in a database I have made. I have a userform with drop down boxes that people can choose what they want to search for. Once they have chosen and clicked the search button I want it to search only in the relevant column, i.e. search for the word in the dropdown for "engine" only in the "engine" column of the database. Once it has found the appropriate cells with the answer, I want it to delete all other rows that don't include the answer.

Once it's done this it needs to do it again for the other fields, unless they are empty. I have used 'If engine_type <> "" Then' as the starting point so that it only searches chosen fields.

Filter Out Rows As They Become Blank

Jun 3, 2007

I have two spreadsheets. Spreadsheet B reads from the master. No entries are made on spreadsheet B, it is visual only. Changes are made only on the master. I want to create a Macro where all blank lines are filtered out automatically on spreadsheet B, in effect only lines with values are displayed.

Once a new task is created, the details are typed into the master spreadsheet and spreadsheet B, located in another building, is automatically updated to display the details. Once the task is completed which can be seconds, minutes or hours later, an "x" is placed in column A of the master. I have formulated spreadsheet B is "" all rows where "x" is listed in the master. Towards the end of the day however, I can have 50 visable entries on spreadsheet B spread over 500 rows.

I want spreadsheet B to display only active tasks from the top of the page down. I currently have those that read the spreadsheet filter out blank rows. Because tasks can be updated at a rate of 10 - 15 per minute with new tasks and the completion of old, I want to eliminate the need for our employees to have to filter themselves.
