I need to combine data in 5 columns into 1 column as below. The columns to be merged are always identical in length up 20 000 lines.(Full example attached)
Raw data in columns A,B,C,D,E as below
A1 B1 C1 D1 E1
A2 B2 C2 D2 E2
Converted should be
A1
B1
C1
D1
E1
A2
B2
C2
D2
E2
I have a set of data that I need to change the "layout" of. I've had similar situations before, but this one is just killing me. Basically, my data is for item pricing. It is represented as
Item, QTY, Price
A,1,1.25
A,10,1.1
A,25,1
A,100,0.9
B,1,1.25
B,10,1.1
B,25,1
B,100,0.9
C,1,1.25
C,10,1.1
C,25,1
C,100,0.9
Item D,Qty1,P1
Item D,Q2,P2
Item D,Q3,P3
Item D,Q4,P4
However, I need it in the following format:
A,1,10,25,100,1.25,1.1,1,0.9
B,1,10,25,100,1.25,1.1,1,0.9
C,1,10,25,100,1.25,1.1,1,0.9
Item DQ1Q2Q3Q4P1P2P3P4
As a note: there is a maximum of 4 Price/QTY breaks, so the script can be hard coded for that. When I tried this, I had it looking at the Item column, finding out how many breaks there are for a specific item and then doing a loop to extract the qty and price to a single row in the format shown above. It worked for the first 2 items, but then the loop got throw off. I will see if I can reproduce the code for that.

I have an problem transposing multiple columns into a table. Source data is organized in 3 columns - ID, Visit#, Date. What I need is a seet in which I'd have in Column A - and ID, in Row 1 a Visit type and Visit date would be populated in the table. See attached file. Since I'm handling about 50k datapoints a simple "paste special--->transpose" is a nightmare.

What I am trying to do is break up the "Phase" column into several columns, where each phase would have its own column. Something like this:

It is very important that the output of the data goes on a new sheet, and that the records maintain integrity.
How to selectively transpose a row of dates to columns. I'm not sure exactly how to explain this, so below is an example of what the data look like entered into the spreadsheet:
study ID
provider
visit 1
visit 2
visit 3
visit 4
visit 5
[Code]....
I'd like to extract the data into a new table on another worksheet that looks like this:
Date
provider
study id
visit #
7/21/13
Test Name
10001
[Code]...
This is just a quick example, but basically it would continue through all possible visit dates for the first study ID, then move to the next row of data (i.e. the next study ID) and extract the data from the row and transpose it in the appropriate columns moving down...
I am stumped on how to transpose multiple columns to rows based on specific criteria. Here is an example of the data I am working with:
Acct #Rev CodeUnitsCharges10094537034503$0.0010094537034501$605.0010094537037101$0.0010096359034503$0.0010096359034501$355.0010096359037101$0.00
I want it to look like the following:
Acct #Rev CodeUnitsChargesRev CodeUnitsChargesRev CodeUnitsCharges10094537034503$0.004501$605.007101$0.0010096359034503$0.004501$355.007101$0.00
I should note that there is oftentimes more than three rows for the same account number, sometimes it could be as many as 20 rows for the same account.
How to convert multiple Rows recors to a single row record in a Notes(csv) format? Have update my xls file. My source is in the below format(Source.xls):
GroupName_A,Name_A
GroupName_A,Name_B
GroupName_A,Name_C
GroupName_B,Name_D
GroupName_B,Name_E
GroupName_B,Name_F
GroupName_B,Name_G
GroupName_B,Name_H
GroupName_B,Name_I
I want to convert it to a CSV file where by it can be import to Lotus Notes (output.xls):
1,1,Group,GroupName_A,"Name_A,Name_B,Name_C","CN=John Sam/OU=FIN/OU=staff/O=IBM,CN=Mary Flow/OU=FIN/OU=staff/O=IBM",CN=John Sam/OU=FIN/OU=staff/O=IBM

As you can see only GroupNameN, and Name_N are varibles, the rest of the fields are static. note that there is opening and closing quota for column "E" and "F" in output.xls
I need to transpose a three column worksheet with thousands of rows containing repeats based on the value in Column A (between 2 and 11 consecutive repeats), into rows with no repeats, and the values from the repeated rows into new columns. Column A has a unique numeric value corresponding to the repeated rows. Column B has 1 of 11 values and Column C has 1 of 4 values.
The worksheet looks like this:
1 abc x
1 def y
2 ghi x
2 abc n
2 lmn x
2 def z
2 jkl y
I need to make it look like this:
1 abc x def y
2 ghi x abc n lmn x def z jkl y
I tried using the following code, but it dropped all the values from column C:
Sub kTest()
Dim a, i As Long, w(), k(), n As Long
Dim dic As Object, ws As Worksheet, s As String
Set dic = CreateObject("scripting.dictionary")
dic.comparemode = vbTextCompare
With Sheets("sheet1")
a = . Range("a2:b" & .Range("a" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row)
End With
I am attaching a workbook " Book 1" that has the results from the above macro in the first worksheet "Final Report", the origninal data "orig data", and the format I need to get the data into "needed data".
I have two columns of data as follows:
10:57:42 273
10:57:42 263
10:57:42 253
10:57:42 241

11:04:47 263
10:54:31 254
10:54:31 240
10:54:31 265.......
this may or may not be easy for some of you but its driving me nuts. Here's what I need to do.
1.Create a new workbook
2.Cycle through multiple workbooks and all worksheets within each workbook (all in the same folder). All workbooks will have the same structure.
3.Take the worksheet names and put them in rows
4.Take the data from the first column (column A) from the first worksheet of the first workbook and put them across the top (i.e. transpose the data). The first column will be the same in all workbooks so it doesn't matter where I get it from.
5.Copy the data from column E from each worksheet and paste them in rows in the new workbook (again transpose) corresponding to each worksheet.
6. Perform simple mathematical calculations at the end of each row.
I expect to have approximately 26 workbooks with a total of 7000 worksheets. In the target workbook (i.e. the new one), I expect there to be 7000 rows (corresponding to the 7000 worksheets) and about 260 columns.
The only reason I need to transpose stuff is because Excel 2007 doesn't have 7000 columns.
Here's an example of what it would look like.
Example worksheet (Input)-
Worksheet ABC
Col A Col E
1/1/2004 $25
1/8/2004 $30
1/15/2004 $15
Imagine another worksheet called LMN with the same ColA but different values in Col E.
Output workbook
ColA Columns B Column C Column D
Sheet 1/1/2004 1/8/ 2004 1/15/2004
ABC $25 $30 $15
LMN $xxx $yyy $zzz
Certification and Training tracking.xlsx
I want to create a certification only list on a separate tab of training that has been completed where a certification has been issued (as indicated by a "Y" in the "Certification?" column on the training tracking tab) and then populate from some of the fields vs. all of the fields.
What I have now, only pulls the first occurence, not all occurences. I saw that I could have identified the multiple columns that needed to be populated, but it didn't work either, so I'm fine putting a separate vlookup in each column.
I am looking to split multiple different entries in a single cell into multiple columns and repeat this for all rows
Example (I have the below in a single Cell as column headers)
NCM Server Mgmt VLAN Site ID
Next Line down is the data (Each row in a single cell)
Enabled 10.10.10.0 50 TEST SITE 1
Enabled 10.10.20.0 50 TEST SITE 2
Disabled 10.10.30.0 50 TEST SITE 3
How I could achieve this as I have a number of projects where this would become useful
I know you can use delimiters but with spaces between the values I just can't fathom a way forward.
I have a long list of 2 columns containing data as follows:
country1 date1-1
country1 date1-2
country1 date1-3
country2 date2-1
country2 date2-2
country3 date3-1
country4 date4-1
country4 date4-2
country4 date4-3
which I would need to move to get one column per country with the top cell the country name and below each name all the related dates, e.g.
country1 country2 country3 country4
date1-1 date2-1 date3-1 date4-1 etc.
date2-1 date2-2
date3-1
I have searched and found almost similar questions and tried to apply it to this case, but not being versed in VBA it was a failure on my part
My starting point is a big data set that needed to be validated by several users. I split the data set into smaller sets that were sent out. All users have filled in the same column called "Input"
What I would like to be able to do is to paste their input into a single column on my original data set and keep the name of the input next to it. Is it possible to paste without overlapping prexisting data ? Something of the likes of F5 ("Select blank cells/text") ?
I've attached a simple file with dummy data to explain myself.
How can I sort a single column of data to multiple columns of data. e.g. I want to convert ~1800 rows of data from 1 column to 3 or 4 columns.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a very large sheet of all US zip codes by county name. Unfortunately, the document builder decided to list up to EIGHTEEN columns of zip codes per county name... I assume to make it easier to look at.
I now need to rebuild the sheet to have one column of county names and *one* column of zip codes, which will be a nearly impossible task if I don't find a way to automate the conversion.
Attached is a sample... sheet 1 is my initial state (except here its 5 columns rather than 18), and sheet 2 is my hoped for end state. Notice that the zip codes can, but don't always, fill every column allotted.
How can you move data from multiple columns into a single column? I have attached a short example of the data I receive. (In reality, the data could be hundreds of columns and/or hundreds of rows, but this is representative of what I might receive). It does not need to be sorted and including the header row in its own column is optional. I do not know VBA all that well but can muddle through it if someone can give me an example of what the code should look like.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI typically use the following formula to create a list with no blanks, when I have a single column of data. Is there a way to do the same thing when you have multiple columns of data (side by side to make it simple) and you want to create a master list that gets rid of the blanks, and keeps them in the order they appear (by column)?
[Code] .....
For example, if I had data (with some blank cells randomly placed) in columns AM and AN, and I wanted a singe master list in one column of all non-blank cells in column AL, followed by column AM, etc.? Is there a formula to do this, or must I resort to a macro?
I have Folder with almost 21 or 22 Excel files depending on the working days in a month,
All I am trying to do is to run a Macro so that Column C and D from Sheet Name "Resource Count" from all Workbooks of Different Names from all the files from that folder to be copied and pasted to a new Workbook one after the other in new workbook.
To clarify, Each workbook in that folder will have a sheet named "Resource Count" and I want to copy Column C and Column D from all the workbooks from the folder and paste one after other in a new work book.
Current Data:
File 1:
Each set of data is listed in either two or three rows
Eg.,
ID
Date
Filename
ID
Date
ID
Date
Filename
The goal is to move them to separate columns (rows can be 3 or 2 for each data set, and may or may not be separated by space/additional row)
File 2:
Has a common field 'ID' as that of File1, does not have Date, and Filename, but has a new field 'Detail' (already in the expected format)
Eg.
ID Detail
The goal is to merge properly formatted data from File 1 to File 2
Eg
ID Date Filename Detail
in moving data from multiple columns to a single column. I have attached a sample image from an excel file which details the requirement. The first column contains a qualifier, that should remain constant when the data from columns B to the end move to a single column "B". The number of columns for each row is different, however, there is a maximum number, say 25. As mentioned in the image, when the data from columns B to the end is moved in to column B, column A is retained fixed, to the original value, and the original data below it is pushed below. Any pointers to how this can be achieved by VBA or without VBA?

Supposing I started the sheet in the top left corner at A1, I was just going to have cell B1=A1 then Cell B2=A6 then just autofill down column B but it doesn't work. I have seen some people do something similar to what I want with VBA but I am convinced there has to be something simple in with an excel formula seeing as my information is already so organized and consistent.
I have a spreadsheet with multiple columns. The first column defines a "route", and the next two list "start" and "end" cities for that route. The fourth column lists the length of each route. There are only a limited number of cities, so the same entries appear in both "start" and "end" several times. I would like to use Autofilter to sort the list for every appearance of a given entry in either "start" or "end". Is there a way to make Autofilter sort mutiple columns simultaneously?
I could achieve the desired end result with Advanced Filter, but I want something with the ease-of-use and immediate update/response of Autofilter. Advanced Filter requires explanation (as well as lots of clicking and typing) whereas Autofilter is self-evident. I also want to avoid VBA Macros as they are not well-understood by the users who will use this spreadsheet (and any VBA Macro will require very specific input to work properly.) Is it possible to do what I want? Or is Advanced Filter / VBA the only way to do it?
I saw this thread from June Cut & Paste Macro: Move Address From Column To Row and I think this what I would like to have my macro do. I have one column which is copied and pasted as text in excel and there is several blank rows.
I attached the spreadsheet example - it has 40 lenders, with the top row being the lender name (A1), followed by address(A2), city-state (A3), two blank rows(A4-A5), lender type (A6), approved date (A7), one blank row (A8), lender specialty (A9), telephone (A10) , e-mail address(A11) and two blanks rows (A12-A13) and A14 starts over again. For this example there should be 8 columns and 40 rows (lender name, address, etc...). As I mentioned I think the previous thread's macro would work with some minor tweaks. I couldn't figure out the best way to handle the blank rows and or remove the blanks and what to add or take out of the macro code.
I have a workbook with many sheets labelled as mmm-yyyy. The constant columns in all the sheets are C,E,R,T, and U.
Is it possible to have a macro do the following: Add a sheet called Summary at the end of the workbook. From the last sheet of mmm-yyyy, copy columns C, E, and R to the Summary sheet. Copy columns T and U from all the other mmm-yyyy sheets to the Summary sheet. All the cells need to be centered.
