I have a macro that is intdended to run after the user has selected a cell in column A:A (any position except A1)
Once the user has selected their desired cell, they press a button and the macro runs.
Occasionally a user will press the button without selecting a cell in the proper column.
I would like a message box to pop up to tell the user "Please select an account in Column A" and bump the cursor (active cell) to A2 so at least it's in the right column to help get them started.
I need to check cell G5 (which is G4-G3) before running a macro. if G5 is zero i need to pop up a message to inform the user to enter data in cells G3 & G4. And if G5 is greater than Zero the macro shud run.
I need to abort the macro if the active cell is empty.
I've tried:
If ActiveCell.Value = "" Then Exit Sub and If IsEmpty(ActiveCell) Then Exit Sub
but neither work. I've found other solutions that test for a particular cell (A1 for example), but I need to be able to test the active cell, which may be any cell on the worksheet.
I've been racking my brains trying to figure this out but cant, please can someone assist. I need to write some vba code that looks at cells in column aa and ag (on the same row) and displays a message is ag > 0 and aa <> "Agency".
1. if there's a value in name or names count => must be at least one value in test1 or test2
2. last value in names count must be equal to the sum of trues in B1:B4 Problem Is it possible to identify once any of the cells in A9:D12 are activated that once that range is deactivated I run the check to make sure the constraints are met, and populate default values in the case they are not?
Is it possible to identify once any of the cells in A9:D12 are activated that once that range is deactivated I run the check to make sure the constraints are met, and populate default values in the case they are not?
Trying to figure it out with a some combination of: checking if the last cell I was in was in the range and I am no longer in that range; using the selection change change event?
I have a drop down lets say in cell A1. Based on what value is selected in A1, the user should see a different set of check boxes. My thought, which may not be the best way to implement this, is to have all the check boxes and depending on the value selected in A1, the check boxes that are relevant should be active or visible, while the unneeded ones are inactive or invisible.
Taking the Selected or Active Cell in Sheets("positions"), eg, L5 but then finding the exact Cell match in Sheets("price"), eg, also L5 and placing this cells Value in Textbox1.
The 2 sheets are exact mirrors but contain different data.
I am trying to add a button on my spreadsheet that will give the person Access to one cell only. The cell in its normal state is Locked. The cell is ALWAYS in Column F of a sheet titled Master. The button is located on the sheet titled Master.
The real problem may arise in that once the person has access to the cell and they make their changes I need that cell to return to being Locked and the sheet once again Protected with Filtering.
Does this make sense to anyone? Can it be done and if so any suggestions?
I need a vba code to run a macro when a specific word entered in a cell. i.e. when a word "Duplicate" entered in a cell O2, the macro run automatically.
I am trying to establish if Outlook 2000 is currently running in VBA , I have tried the following code but this only works when the user is actually positioned in "Inbox - Microsoft Outlook" etc. At this point I don't really care where/what the user has open in Outlook but merely to check if outlook is running.
I have tried below but does not work robustly enough. I have also tried AppActivate("Microsoft Outlook") I have also tried IsRunning("Outlook.Application") which does not even compile.
Dim OutlookErr, OutlookBox On Error GoTo OutlookIsNotRunning AppActivate ("outlook") GoTo now_send_email
OutlookIsNotRunning:
OutlookErr = "Outlook is either not open or busy with another task." & vbCrLf & vbCrLf OutlookErr = OutlookErr & "Please Open Outlook, Close any draft emails," & vbCrLf & vbCrLf OutlookErr = OutlookErr & "the Global Address List or other activities and try again." OutlookBox = MsgBox(OutlookErr, vbCritical, "Unable to access Outlook to send email") Exit Sub
I have this macro that looks in all sheets in column A, except the invoice sheet. How do I alter it to only check the active sheet?
Dim ws As Worksheet For Each ws In ThisWorkbook.Sheets If ws.Name ("Invoice") Then On Error Resume Next With ws .Columns("A").SpecialCells(xlCellTypeBlanks).EntireRow.Hidden = True With .Columns("A").CurrentRegion .Offset(2, 0).Resize(.Rows.Count - 1, 3).SpecialCells(xlCellTypeVisible).Copy _ Sheets("Invoice").Cells(Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp)(2) End With .Cells.Rows.Hidden = False End With Err.Clear End If Next ws
The following code displays the message box and loads a userform if the Active cell offset 1, -1 when within G column equals "LAST ROW".
.....
How can I change it so instead it performs those same actions (displaying the message box, and loads the userform) if the number of rows between the last data entry in G and the last data entry in F is equal to 0?
I have some code here that I am using to find matches in Column D and then remove colored cell once the match is found. I am in putting the data line by line from a Barcode scanner and only want to run the macro if the date in Column A is today. Here is the code I am using.
I have a spreadsheet with a macro that saves a backup s/s to a particular folder, but the problem I have need the macro to check the filepath is that of the original s/s before running.
Its so that when people take copies of the main s/s and save them to their desktop I dont want the copies being saved in the backup folder
macro is below
Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose(Cancel As Boolean)
If ActiveWorkbook.ReadOnly Then Exit Sub
If MsgBox("Do You Want To Save A Backup?", vbYesNo) = vbNo Then Exit Sub
Dim fso As Object Dim objFiles As Object Dim myWkBk As String Dim myFName As String Dim BkUpDir As String Dim CountFiles As Integer Dim mydate As Double
I am dealing with several very large spreadsheets using VBA to do various things. I found that my code worked well, but was taking a long time to run. The biggest time consumer was my use of the AutoFilter features. I have since turned calculations to manual before my code runs and set it back to auto when my code is done running. What are the potential consequences of my turning calculations to manual and then back to auto?
I have a cell built into my spreadsheet that serves as an error check (i.e. returns the word 'ERROR' if certain criteria are fulfilled on the spreadsheet). I'm trying to write something into a Macro that will check this cell and not allow it to run if it states ERROR, returning a dialog box to notify this, is this possible?
The loop is putting the correct formula into the cell - but THEN... - I wish to (within the loop and before it moves on) check if the value is equal to OR greater than 1 - if it is, make it a value of 1 (this '1' is then used at the bottom of the column of data to give a total). I need to do this before it moves onto the next cell. What am I doing wrong? Is it because once it puts formula in the cell, it then moves down - do I need to select the cell again first? As I had originally posted on this site - link: url]http://www.excelforum.com/showthread.php?t=641970
I have a survey template with several options buttons (made from Form toolbar and grouped by Group Box).I would like to have a check box that would activate these option buttons for specific question if unchecked and vice versa.
I have copy & paste below formula in VB, but is shows 'Run time error 424' & when I Debug it shows 2nd line highlighted by yellow colour.
VB: Private Sub CheckBox1_Click() If CheckBox1.Value = True Then
....
If input is entered into column C (range C2:C100), then row cells for columns D, E ,F, H or I must NOT be blank upon save. Could be that one or more of these row cells are left blank by mistake.
An error msg pops up upon attempting to save, stops the save and colors each cell yellow that needs info entered into.
whenever the active cell is within a given range, highlight the cell on the same row in column S (by changing its interior colour). This should occur each time the active cell is changed, whether by cursor keys or mouse. The effect would be similar to the row and column highlights at left and top of the worksheet.
This action should be restricted to one sheet in the workbook.
I have got stuck on one piece of my code and having trouble fixing... Overall I am trying to find variable station name in cell L2 of Sheet 2 in Sheet 1 and then select and copy the data from the data in "cell L2 of Sheet 2" to the last entry of that row. I have attached an example test spreadsheet of the data and a macro is within Sheet 1 called test1. Please note that cell L2 in Sheet 2 will always be different station name and the station list in Sheet 1 will change with differing station name.
The code I am using is:
.....
The code that is not working and bringing up an error is:
1) I need to add an edit check 2) have a copy of Active Workbook Path stamped onto spreadsheet with date and time to create a visual record of where the file has been saved (described after the code below).
1) I need to verify that two cells (S7 and S9) are not blank before running my code below (=IF(OR(S7<>"",S9<>""),RUN CODE,"You must select your Provider or Division before you can save this document")).
- If both of these cells are blank a message box should notify the user that they must select the provider and/or division before they can continue with the save.
- If one or more of these cells are not blank the code below should run.
This is bizarre - over the last year or so, on two machines (one Win98SE/Off2K, the other Win2KSP4/Off2K3), very occasionally a change I've made to Excel/VBA code has been ignored (eg to add a MSGBOX call) - even after I've restarted Excel. The workaround is to add a blank line and remove it again in the actual code module, but its both annoying and intriguing,
I have written some code intended to automatically clear a cell when data appears in it from an external source. In one spreadsheet, it seems to work exactly as expected, ie when the cell is polulated, it immediately clears the contents. In another spreadsheet, with exactly the same code, it will not automatically clear. If I put it in debug mode and step through it line by line, then it does do as expected but otherwise it won't.
I have used a code to find the character "-" and replace it with nothing ("") from several named worksheets across my workbook, which OzGrid helped me with before, and it worked fine. Now I've added the code into my module (at the bottom) it doesn't work. The rest of the code works fine, and it doesn't come up with any errors when I run it, but it just seems to ignore the 'find and replace' part of it.
Sub split1()
Dim fromSheet As Object Set fromSheet = Worksheets(1) Dim fromRow As Integer Dim toRow As Integer Dim lastRow As Integer Dim errCount As Integer Dim thisSectionName As String Dim i As Integer ' loop counter Dim rng As Range 'found range Dim emptyCellAbove As Range Dim rng1 As Range Dim arng1 As String 'Address of 1st hit rng1 Dim ws(7) As String Dim ii As Integer '2ND LOOP COUNTER Dim iii As Integer '3rd Loop Counter
