I have a cell built into my spreadsheet that serves as an error check (i.e. returns the word 'ERROR' if certain criteria are fulfilled on the spreadsheet). I'm trying to write something into a Macro that will check this cell and not allow it to run if it states ERROR, returning a dialog box to notify this, is this possible?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe loop is putting the correct formula into the cell - but THEN... - I wish to (within the loop and before it moves on) check if the value is equal to OR greater than 1 - if it is, make it a value of 1 (this '1' is then used at the bottom of the column of data to give a total). I need to do this before it moves onto the next cell. What am I doing wrong? Is it because once it puts formula in the cell, it then moves down - do I need to select the cell again first? the first row gives Value Error, and the rest rows always blank.

I usually just use macros to clean up Data from non-excel sources. So I wrote a macro to do this, but the process requires a date to be added, so attempted to do this via an input box. The input box works, but the code doesn't, clicking the button to which the macro is bound spits out an error 91 (object out of bounds?) when it hits the search function right after the inputbox code. Both bits work as intended separately, so I guess it's just some moronic formatting error on my behalf.

i have an excel sheet where i enter company information including Zip code. the zip codes around here all start with 797 and end with numbers from 01 to 12
i am looking for a way to enter just the last 2 numbers and have it automatically insert the full zip
example:
line one i would enter 01 and 79701 would show up in the box.
I know there are ways to do this, just can't remember its been so long since I've had to use excel.
Is there any way to use formula or VBA to highlight cells which contain the correct spelling?
For example i have columns A filled with words in each cell but need to highlight which ones have the correct spelling, as there are more with incorrect so i need to visually see the correct spelling.
I need a macro that can search text cells in column L for a space delimiter, then if the space is present, to split that cell into a row inserted below it, then copy the information in the rest of the row down. I'm not really up on my VBA.
I have a macro that is intdended to run after the user has selected a cell in column A:A (any position except A1)
Once the user has selected their desired cell, they press a button and the macro runs.
Occasionally a user will press the button without selecting a cell in the proper column.
I would like a message box to pop up to tell the user "Please select an account in Column A" and bump the cursor (active cell) to A2 so at least it's in the right column to help get them started.

see attached example. I am trying to write an error detection routine that iterates through worksheets that have numeric values for names (ignore text names or alphanumeric). Macro checks range on each numeric worksheet E3:E33 and is supposed to report back on the SummarySheet if any value other than 1 or 0 is found in range E3:E33 on any numeric-name worksheet. Code as follows:

Problem is that it just reports EVERY worksheet as having an error when clearly most don't (none do I think in the attached example).
Try changing some of ranges E3:E33 to values other than 1 or 0, it still reports all sheets. Why the macro does not evaluate the range E3:E33 properly and just reports every worksheet as having an error?
I have a protected template and unprotected source worksheets - - - what I would like to happen is for the macro to start and if the source worksheet cell B3 equals "Report Total" then stop - otherwise copy template worksheet then copy 6 specific cells from the source to paste values to specific cells on the newly created worksheet (B_ to C7, D_ to I7, E_ to C9, F_ to K9, A_ to C11, M_ to K11 and then K13=F13-30)
After that then start all over again unless the next row’s cell (B4, B5, B6, . . .) is "Report Total" then stop - - - the row count could be from one to a couple hundred.

the if stattement works perfectly and does exactly what i want except when it comes to the else part. if there is no error the statements are run perfectly but if there is an error (in this case the error is generated when a match cannot be found in the spreadsheet) the else statement doesnt kick in and post the msgbox.

The following code displays the message box and loads a userform if the Active cell offset 1, -1 when within G column equals "LAST ROW".

How can I change it so instead it performs those same actions (displaying the message box, and loads the userform) if the number of rows between the last data entry in G and the last data entry in F is equal to 0?
I have a simple macro that copies data from worksheet to another. I only want this macro to be run once per day by the user. One of the cells that gets copied is the value found in the formula "=today()". My thought is that the macro could look for the existance of the current date in the pasted data (meaning the macro has already been run once today), and if the date = today, then a message pops up warning the user that the macro has already been run once today, and ask if they're sure they want to continue.
Any easy way to accomplish what I'm attempting to do? The current date gets pasted into a worksheet name "PriorDay" in cell C5.
I have an excel 2010 spreadsheet that lists all of our vendors and the amount we spent with them over the last year.
I want to know how many of them were local vendors.
I have a list of all the zip codes within a 100 mile radius (there are about 500 zip codes). I would like to write a macro or sort function that searches the entire vendor list and only reports back those vendors that are included in the zip codes I specify.
The columns are as follows:

I am unable to install a disk catalog and have been trying with no success to try and get something in excel that will look at a directory and display the contents of that folder with the file attributes etc

I have some code that works perfectly when it is run from the VB Editor but when I put it behind a command button it gives me an error almost straight away. I have read that when a command button is used the command button defaults the active sheet to the one that it is one therefore you always have to specify the active sheet but I have done this so am still confused as to why it is falling over. Below is my code, I have commented where it is tripping:

I'm new to VBA but have had it working well for me, until the other night when a user complained that when he ran a macro, it came up with the error "Paste method of Worksheet class failed". I should note that this has worked time and time again, so I'm lost. I also found tonnes of answers with a Google search but they were all relative to that persons code.

I've created a form and would like to use a macro to transfer the form information details (form) from an intermediate worksheet (database intermediate) to the main database worksheet (database).
So far I've only been able to record a simple macro that will do just that. However, when I click on my assigned macro again, the information is washed away and the new form details have replaced it. Been trying to use the x1down coding to make it such that each new data goes onto the subsequent line? But I can't seem to get it right without getting an error message.

I am trying to reference a cell that displays "#NAME?" due to an unrecognized formula. However, I keep getting an "Type Mismatch" error. Is there a way to reference a file that displays "#NAME?"
Example:

So the issue I am having is that I have a worksheet with two long rows of value. If the user enters the incorrect value, the program gives a error case of 1004. If and when this error occurs I want the program to send a MessageBox to the user then end the program. The problem that I am running into is that whenever I write On Error Goto... It Goes to the label whenever any runtime error occurs. My belief is that there has to be a way to only check for a runtime error on a single line of code rather than the entire sub.

I have made sure that the text matches exactly and the cell formats are the same.
The issue is the I want to put the condition here in my the code that only copies the desired cells if the sheet is named specifically such as "Jan", if not named as this the worksheet should not be used.
