The big picture is that I have a number of cells with numerical values in and text in comment boxes. I want to be able to click a button to copy the contents of the comment boxes and paste them, along with the numerical value from the cell, into a single comment box, ordered by highest to lowest value within the comment box, then delete the original cells and comments.
I am quite new to VBA but have been coping quite well so far with information of the web and analysing recorded macros.
A sheet, compose of groups of 9 items and their corresponding qty. I need to have the same serial no. be commented on each items of the same group. I am doing in this mechanical way:
1. add comment of serial no. on the first item of group,
2. copy and paste, with paste special>>comments, on the remaining items of the same group,
3. Repeat this sequences on the other groups, which means hundreds.
Other than these tedious procedures, is there any better way?
I really appreciate help from the excel gurus and expert here on my little problem. I'm rarely using excel and have a very little knowledge on VBA programming. In short, I've been requested to develop a shift schedule for my department that can automate the shift staff schedule on the monthly basis.
I've created two worksheet of which the first worksheet is represent as master data list (INPUT Worksheet) that contain with formulas. While the other worksheet is the automated shift data (REPORT Worksheet) that linked from the master data list (INPUT Worksheet).
Attached herewith is a sample of my work. As you can see,I wanted to copy comments from the input worksheets (on DUTY column) so that it will then automatically appears or updated in the shift schedule. Whenever the dropdown selection change, the data will change accordingly. On the REPORT worksheet, each cells, range D14:AH38 are referring to DUTY column month by month. I'm able to link it but it fails to copy over the comments as well. I believe that macro can resolve this, can someone help me on this?
I need to copy a cell content to a Comment into another worksheet in
the same cell ref.
sheet1
A1 = apple
A2 = orange
Sheet2 - target
A1 = comment (apple)
A2 = comment (orange)
So I've got an Excel sheet with two cells - A1 and A2. In cell A1, I have a comment that says "Hello". Is there any formula I use to copy the comment from A1 and apply that comment to A2?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a recipe and a set of instructions on a worksheet in the cell range A1:H50 and would like to copy the whole range to a single cell as a Comment.
At the moment I select the range, copy and paste it to MS Word.
In Word, I select all and copy, then back in Excel, select cell, insert Comment then paste the text into the Comment box. Then I have to resize the Comments box. Also doing it this way loses some of the original formatting I could get round that by saving the cell range as a picture and inserting the picture in the Comments box.
Surely there has got to be a better way. Using 2007 Excel & Word
I am trying to add multiple lines in comment. problem is the text to this mutiline comments is stored in a range
Range("J15").Select
Range("J15").AddComment
Range("J15").Comment.Visible = False
Range("J15").Comment.Text Text:="Line1" & Chr(10) & "Line2"
(This is recorded). assuming that range "A1:A15" is where text for this comment is stored from a different VBA program.(15 number of line is the max i have programmed to accept). assuming there are 10 cells currenty full. how can i add this 10 text lines to a comment box.
I am trying to copy a row based on the value of a cell.
I have two sheets in my workbook and on sheet 1, I have a part number and a description. On sheet 2, I have part numbers again, but this time I the description is broken up into the format I need.
What I am trying to do is have excel search on sheet 2 for the part numbers, then copy the information that corresponds to the part number into the correct column.
I have tried using Vlookup. But if the part number in row 2 on sheet 1 match the one in row 8 on sheet 2, this will copy over the data from row 2 whereas I need row 8.
If this would be more doable using VBA, that is fine by me. I haven't been able to figure out anything in VBA or in excel formulas up to this point.
On my worksheet (which I have stripped down significantly to be able to upload here), I am looking for a way to copy certain cells over when the TCR (machine) numbers match. So, on the spreadsheet, if there is a 1 on the De La Rue sheet in the A column, it will then copy the value that is in cell B (directly next to it) and paste it into the balance sheet tab in column J in the row that has the same number in it. It would then do this for all machines in the balance sheet.
Then it would go to the "Ecoin Amounts" sheet, and do the same match, copy, paste, but this time it would be if the machine number matches, it takes the value from column D and the value from column H and pastes these into the balance sheet sheet in columns C and E respectively.
As you can see from the balance sheet tab, I tried using a VLOOKUP function, but when I import my initial data to the sheets, and manipulate it the way that I want, it gives be a reference error. I could possibly circumvent this by writing the VLOOKUP amounts as part of my macro, but I wanted to see if this could be done any easier.
in writing a macro that does the following.
Right there data in cell A1 lets say LTP BY001 and then the next data in column A is LTP BY002 in cell A9. What I need to do is copy LTP BY001 from cell a2-A8 and then LTP BY002 From A10 until LTP BY003 appears lets say A15. Therefore need LTP BY002 copying from A11-A14. I need that to go right the way down the workbook at everytime their is a number change.
I am copying values from a range of cells in one worksheet to another worksheet in the same workbook. I am able to grab the cell values, but I am unable to copy over the cell comments at the same time.
The code I am using is below.
If Cells(5, 6) = "CompetitorA" Then
Worksheets("Competitor1").Activate
Range("D7:D144").Copy
Worksheets("CompetitorComparison").Activate
Range("F7:F14").PasteSpecial
End If
I have 2 worksheets, A and B. In both worksheets there is common data in column A (account ID). I would like to find a way to return all of the data for the matching row in worksheet B and have it pasted into the matching row in worksheet A.
So in the example below, I am looking for a function that will match on Account ID in both worksheets and then paste the results from Dataset 1, 2 and 3 into the row with the matching Account ID in worksheet A.
Worksheet A
Account ID
Column to paste matching rows from Worksheet B

2
Worksheet B

Dataset 1
Dataset 2
Dataset 3

I have been given the following code and it works great. I now need to adapt it to the following scenario: In the attached sheet, the user has to select either, "Suburban" or "Squad" in row 5. If the user selects, "Suburban" I need this script to compare the values they enter in a given row to the value in column "B".
If the user selects, "Squad" I need this script to compare the values they enter in a given row to the value in column "C".
Look at row 48, for example. If the user enters, "Suburban" in cell D5 then the value they enter in cell D48 should equal "1". If it does not equal "1" then it should proceed with the adding of a comment. Conversely, if the user enters, "Squad" in cell D5 then the value the enter in cell D48 should equal "2". If it does not equal "2" then it should proceed with the adding of a comment.
formula below.
Crude and does not work.
I hope what I have said makes sense and can be written correctly.
'If WorksheetFunction.CountIf(Range("A:A"), Cells(i, 1).Value) > 1 Then
copy.Range("U:U"), Cells(i, 1).Value)=1
Cells(i, 21).Paste.Value.Count > 1
Basically, For Each Value in A that's identical. I need the value in "U" in the row for the first value in A to be copied down to the last row for the specific value in A.
I'm trying to find a way to search a second sheet in a workbook for specific criteria outlined in a first sheet (in my attached example, from A3 downwards within the 'list of search criteria' sheet), and then to copy any secondary data found against a successful search match to the original sheet, transposed against its corresponding matched search term.
As you can see in the example, the search term 'bindi' (A4 in the 'list of search criteria' sheet) appears in the 'data' sheet 3 times - the secondary data for these occurences ('feathery', 'Fibonacci', 'glassy') is copied to the 'bindi' row on the first sheet and is offset with each copy to produce a transposed-esque effect of copy and paste.
If it's any help, there are a maximum of 9 matches for a single search term in the real document.
Thanks in advance for your help... I tried to adapt a previous solution given to me for a similar question but failed miserably. I bow humbly to your expertise!
I had a quick look around and couldn't find exactly what I was after my apologies if it already exists. I have attached a sample worksheet and I would like it the entire row A from sheet 1 to sheet 3 if the cells A2 OR D2 contain what is in cell Sheet2!A1.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two worksheet "ABX" and "ACX" from which I want to find the matching data for specific columns B, D and E only.
Matching data will be in sheet "Match" and vice versa.
Data are present dynamically.
I am trying to copy images from one worksheet (master worksheet with all data and images) if a cell value matches and place onto a separate worksheet with select rows on it. I've watched this tutorial: [URL], but it only shows how to do it in one cell rather than a whole column.
Essentially if the figure in column A matches in the second worksheet, I want the row data to be duplicated including the image.
For the copied data from the master worksheet to another, I used VLOOKUP and it works great but obviously that won't work with images.
I have a template with a sheet dated the 1st of the month "Feb 1" Cell 2 also had the same date.
I'd like a VBA to copy this sheet, change the sheet names to Feb 2, Feb 3, etc, and also change cell 2 to the same name...
I've seen similar code to copy sheets and change name, but can't figure out with the date...
A pop up asking for the number of new sheets would also be useful.

I have two excel sheets with order details.
Sheet1:A1:Order ID, B1:City, C1:State
Sheet2:A1:Order ID, B1:Rate
Sheet 1 only contains successful order ID's In Sheet 2 there are many order ids with pending, failed, successful transactions.
I want to compare Sheet1:A1 with Sheet2 full range Order ID's. If there is a match it should copy B1:rate to Sheet1 D1 and so on. I tried some VLOOKUP formulas but they did not work.
I am trying to write a formula that will return a result based on which list a cell is found in.
Column A comprises of aisle/position information. The values range from B01 to B65, C01 to C65 ... H01 to H65 (Like aisles/shelf positions in a supermarket). This is not a static list, as the information in column A will change from week to week. It will be sorted prior to trying to work with it. The first three characters of the values in A will be what I'm comparing to the list. There is a fourth character that determines further details about the item that are not pertinent to this issue.
I need to match the value in column A to one of the four groups of values below and have the correct color display in column F. The correct color would be the name of the list that the value is found in.
Blue (K2:K61) contains the values B01 through B25 and C01 through C25.
Red (L2:L80) contains the values F01 to F21, G01 to G23 and H01 to H35.
Yellow (M2:M95) contains the values B36 to B65, C45 to C65 and D23 to D65.
Green (N2:N124) contains the values E36 to E65, F34 to F65, G34 to G65 and H37 to H65.
It probably boils down to a nested IF statement that checks to see if LEFT(A2,3) is found in any of the four lists, but I just can't wrap my head around how to write it.
I would like to select a cell inside my workbook and when it is selected it automatically highlights similar value cells in the same workbook. Is that possible? A Look at the attachment should give you a much better idea as to what I am talking about.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use the below formula to to return "true" when text in cell (M2) matches text in selected cells on same row (A2, E2, and G2)
However, all formulas I found online that serve this purpose deal with cell range only, not predetermined cells with exclusions.
Formula:
=IF(ISNUMBER(MATCH(M2,A2:G2,0),TRUE,FALSE) (This will match all cells between A2 and G2 against M2)
reforming this formula to match selected cells only in-between that range (A2, E2 and G2)?
I have a table with 4 columns where in column 3 I have part numbers and in column 4 I have the number sold. In column 3, the part sold can be listed several times with a different number sold in the column 3. What I need is code to go through the part numbers and return a total number sold for that part in a new column. I have sorted the table by part number, then by Column 1 which is for the date. The new total should go in the last column with the oldest date for that part.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a cell (A1) that contains text.
That text will match a single value in a reference list (i.e. range of cells e.g. Z1:Z26).
When the match occurs (e.g. A1 = Z16), I want the format of the reference cell (fill color, text color) to apply to the cell of interest (A1).
The reference cells are manually formatted.
I know that I could create a long list of conditional format formulas instead of using the reference, but it seems that there must be some way to tell excel: if the cell value contents are equivalent, the formatting should be as well.
programming 2 macros in a bank reconciliation sheet I am trying to create.
Basically the data consists of two sets: the ledger side and bank side. Both sides consists of multiple columns that include date, description and amount.
The following two situations can occur and which need to be covered with a macro.
Many to one matching
When we make payments to say 100 different suppliers at once, the ledger side will show 100 lines with the different amounts. However on the bank side it will only show one line with a total amount for the transaction. As the description on the ledger side is the same for all transactions done at the same time, it should be possible to have a macro add these lines and compare the total with entries on the bank side. Once a matching amount has been found, the macro should place an ‘x’ next to all entries on the ledger and bank side, in order to show that these transactions have been reconciled.
Partial cell matching
In this case we are only dealing with one line on both the ledger and bank side. The issue is that the description does not always perfectly match with one another. The ledger side might say ‘Brown Corp.’ and the bank side might say ‘Brown Corporation’. I want to come up with a macro that can recognize this partial match and still reconcile the lines by placing a ‘x’ to both the ledger and bank entry. The match however should be done with a combination of description, date and amount as several different bookings might be done for the same supplier in the same month.
I need to copy data from multiple cells into a comment box. Right now, I'm highlighting each text in each cell and pasting into the comment box. So A1 data, I am going to the formula bar, highlightin the text and pasting individulally into the comment box.
Also, is there a way to merge multiple cells into one cell . I have text in cells A1:A14 and want all that data into one cell. Is this possible?
I'd like to know how to have the comment feature without the red triange on cells with comments. I didn't want to use data validation comments because I want the hover feature.
