View 6 RepliesI have the following code from a form. It works just fine copying named ranges from one sheet to another. The probloem now is that I don't want to copy the characteristic of the formating or whether they are protected or not. The originating spreadsheets have cells that are protected. I am trying to copy those values over to the new sheet and paste their values or formulas but not their formatting (background color) or the fact that some of the cells are 'locked'. I want the new sheet to have the values and formulas but not the be lock for the user. Is this possible with the current way I do the code or do I have to rewrite it? How would you approach this?
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Import_Data_Form.Hide
Run "NPA"
Set b = Selection
ad = b.Address
' Local Variables
Dim wkbDataFile As Workbook
' Let user select source datafile
Call UserSelectFile_WOpen(wkbDataFile)
If wkbDataFile Is Nothing Then
MsgBox "User did not select a workbook to open"
Exit Sub
End If
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Set wb = ThisWorkbook
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
I have pivot table that is pulling data from a page that is using the vlookup formula. I would like the table to only include fields that have data in the count. However, the pivot table is registering cells that have "0" (i.e., there's no actual data in the cell it is pull from) as having data. How can I get the pivot table count to ignore these cells?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a list of numbers that I want to average. Problem is, some of the numbers contain zeros and i want to exclude these entries.
So, if I had a list of 6 values and 3 were zero, I'd want to sum the list and divide it by 3 (not 6).
im trying to average over a number of work sheets to determine the avergage talk time of employees over a day, ive tried:
View 14 Replies View RelatedI current have an Excel doc that I am trying to pull averages from. Every row has data that needs to be averaged but I only need every other cell. And I cannot have zeros in the average because it will skew the data. Also if the average for a row ends up being 0, I want that average to show up as 0 not #DIV/0!. From Column H to EE I need to average each row individually.
I came up with the below formula.
=IF(SUM(H1:H1:J1:J1:L1:L1)=0, "0", AVERAGEIF(H1:H1:J1:J1:L1:L1, ">0")
It works but Its not practical because I have to manually enter all of the cells that it pulls from.
How to get the small value excluding zeros?
small(Convention!$I$3:$I$1000,rows(Dashboard!$D$41:$D41))
I have a one column of numbers...let's say consisting of six rows
the following numbers 12,0,14,25,0,9
if I average this it comes out to 10
how can I average the same rows but exclude the zeros in the outcome(is there a formula to do that?)
I would like the answer to be 15.....I still need the zero's in the rows however
I have a column with values, say column a. In column a are several rows with values equal to zero. I would now like to create a new list that omits the values that are zero, e.g.:
original list:
23
0
54
76
0
0
new list:
23
54
76
I have inherited some legacy templates (Standard, Leave and Exception) which cannot be changed. I need to summarise them (Total) selecting the earliest start and the latest finish. (Sample attached). The templates are 90 columns wide and about fifty lines deep so named ranges isn't practicle (I think). I'm running 2003.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the following formula which works perfectly unless one of the cells has a value of zero;
=MIN(SUM(AD13),MIN(SUM(AK13)))
When AD13 = £60.00 and AK13 = £94.00 (or vice versa) the formula returns £60.00, which is correct. BUT when AK13 = £0.00 obviously the formula returns £0.00, but I would like the formula to still return £60.00.
How this can be done?
Is there a way of Copying the Characters in a Cell but excluding the text from the copy.
EG:
305 GP
1,328 GP
10,250 GP
1,337 GP
But i only want the numbers and not the GP.
GP is Always at the end.
I need code to copy rows from a filtered list on one worksheet and insert at a specific point in another worksheet.
What I would do if doing it manually is to "select the visible cells, copy, go to the other worksheet, select the point I wanted to insert the data and select Insert Copied Cells".
When I try to record this with the macro recorder I don't see the option Insert Copied Cells.
I'm using 2003.
1. Copy cells B5 to V-First blank row in Strength Tests worksheet
2. Paste cells into Racks worksheet in cell C5
3. Change font size to 6
4. Sort by Column T descending then by Column C ascending
5. Copy one row (A5-W5 (1Rx23C)) from Racks worksheet
6. Paste row into M1 worksheet in cell D4
7. Print M1
8. Drop down one row on the Racks worksheet
9. Repeat steps 5-8 until there's a blank row.
with the data in the attached sheet, I create several different pivot tables that need show the count of the information in the columns M:DU. My issue is that the data is sent to me from a third party and the columns contain zeros that cause the counts to inflate.
What I would like to be able to do is run a macro that will search out any zeros in M:DU and replace them with a blank cell.
Unfortunately the number of rows increases with every monthly reporting cycle so the macro would need to be able to accommodate for that.
I'm currently using a Excel 2007 btw... I'm a newbie when it comes to VBA programming... I have attached a sample file for reference. I need to automatically copy the contents of Sheet1 to Sheet2 and Sheet3 (meaning everything you edited on Sheet1 should be automatically edited on the 2 other sheets.) Here are the conditions:
- the items with zero (0) quantity from Sheet 1 should be hidden on to the 2 other sheets. but when you replaced an item with 0 qty to other values (any value greater than 0), it should appear on Sheets2 and Sheet3. (Not affecting the format of the table)
- items without price should be highlighted.
- items that have values that are linked to other items should be highlighted. (ex. if the value for item1 for qty is linked to the number of qty to item 5)
- for Sheet3, Column D to Column G should be hidden
I’ve created a formula for this statistic and I’m happy with the results. Because I’m working with formulas, my only problem is the unwanted zeros. How do I hide zeros that show up automatically (i.e. #3 [blank] and Nov 09-June 10)? I can hide the numbers, but if I enter a zero to one of my future statistics it will not appear and I don’t want that to happen. Is there a way to hide those automatic zeros without affecting my real zeros?

This macro works fine on my machine but not with other users:
This should copy/paste certain cells then paste 3 sheets into a new work book.
ON other computers it seems to paste in a picture? works OK for me?

I would like to implement specific cell ranges from two specific worksheets each within 33 workbooks (which all have several tabs) into a summary page in a separate workbook.
The cell ranges are going across my spreadsheet in rows and I would like for them to transpose into a columns depending on the data which I have separated by catergory on the summary page. They are all on the same location in each workbook which is separated by country. The cell ranges are E26:P37 and I would like to transpose them and have them put below eachother without overwriting for my format on the summary page, how I can put this together in a macro?
Attached is my code, pay attention to the bold part. I want the sourceSheet to be copied as a sheet and pasted in the targetSheet (the Sheet2 of "NewBook") but I want it pasted asvalues. Here is the specific part which needs to be looked at...and below is the full code.
VB:
Set sourceBook = Application.Workbooks.Open(sourceFilename)
Set sourceSheet = sourceBook.Sheets("Current")
Set targetSheet = NewBook.Sheets("Sheet2")
[Code].....
copy/paste Every Sheet Single ( P Column ) and Paste to Notepad and take P1 As file name for note pad.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have one workbook that needs two macros.
On the "Complete Backlog" tab of my workbook, I want users to enter in the requested information based on the column header. Then I would like a Macro attached to a button that says "Refresh" that the user would click after they have entered in all of the information. This macro should look in Column M (WIP Status) and if any of the cells say "Close", it should Cut the entire row from the spreadsheet(Ex. A2:M2) and Paste it into the speadsheet titled "Closed Jobs".
This is so that as jobs are closed/finished, they are removed and stored on a separate sheet. The items would have to be pasted so that it pastes into the next available row - not just on top of each other.
I also need another macro that i can put into a button that doesn't "delete" a row from the sheet, but just copies over to another sheet - so that there are two instances in the workbook.
If would look something like: If a cell in "Column G / Director" of the "Complete Backlog" speadsheet is equal to "Snodgress" then copy columns A-L of the same row to the spreadsheet titled "Snodgress" - of course skipping down the rows to the next blank row.
.....is equal to "Herr" copy row to "Herr" spreadsheet.
....is equal to "McCormick" copy row to "McCormick" spreadsheet.
and so on.

How would you prevent the copy/paste of cells that have comments?
Also, how would you allow cells with comments to be copied and pasted without pasting the comments?
I also have an aside question about the forum advanced search. When searching for multiple search words, how would you type the search to include all words, for example, "prevent" & "paste" & "comments".
I want to copy and paste from one sheet to another based on column a using a macro copy button.
E.g. if column a value = apple then copy that row into the apple sheet.
I want this macro to find in this case "406" in column A which is at the very end of the last block of 160 rows of information.
I then want it to move up 159 rows and copy 160 rows of information underneath the last block of information.
i.e.go to A5280 , then go to a5121, copy rows 5121:5280 to 5281.
It falls over on the very last line of code I can see A5281 selected but it won't paste....
The following sub will look in the file ("FY09 SOF"), in column "A", search for the strings that begin with "2109", "3009", or ends in "-1", and copy the entire row. It will then paste these in the file ("FY09 PR Log Blank").
I have found that in the file ("FY09 SOF"), if things are filtered in any row, it will not copy those necessary items.
The data filter is on row 13 of each sheet. Is there a way of fixing this? (i.e. having the macros select "all" on the filter before copying the sheet? There are 60 sheets so a macros will be necessary.
Sub get_data()
Dim wb As Workbook, wbDest As Workbook
Dim ws As Worksheet, wsDest As Worksheet
Dim lngCalc As Long
Dim FoundCells As Range
Dim FoundCell As Range
Set wb = Workbooks("FY09 SOF")
Set wbDest = Workbooks("FY09 PR Log Blank")
Set wsDest = wbDest.Worksheets("Paste all here, then sort")
With Application
.ScreenUpdating = False
lngCalc = .Calculation
.Calculation = xlCalculationManual
End With
For Each ws In wb.Worksheets.............................
I've received an Excel file with the below macro. However, I've made changes in the original file and therefore, the macro isn't working anymore except if I copy paste special the value instead of simply copying it. I would need to change the macro accordingly.
The macro is the following :
Sub CCtosheetwithoutformat()
'
' CCtosheetwithoutformat Macro

I currently have a macro that outputs data to a bulletin-board type table in my worksheet. At the moment, what happens is that the macro copies the entire table down one row using copy/paste, then prints a new line of data to the top row of the table.
This works great because it is very fast and because I only have to format each line once--the formats just get copied down every time a new line of data is added.
My problem is that while this program is running, I am unable to use copy and paste in windows, because the copy/pasting from the macro overwrites the windows clipboard.
Is there a way for me to "copy" formats from 1 range to another range of equal size without actually using copy/paste? I know this can be done with values (eg. range("B2:B4").value = range("A2:A4").value), but I can't get it to work with any sort of formatting.
