Countif Doubling When Counting

Countif Formula Not Counting?
Feb 11, 2014i have a spreadsheet that acquires data from 42 other worksheet and in a row of cells it has yes or no at the bottom of that row i have =COUNTIF(A2:A34,"YES"). But it will not count the yes' because the cells that it is trying to count all have formulas in them like =tues!A34 or similar is there a different formula i can use to still count the yes' even in a cell containing a formula?

What I'd like to know is how many 'Yes' answers are in the data range for column B:D in Manchester
I've used a countifs but have to result to multiple countifs adding each column together which is fine for 3 columns but not when there are 50!

Oct 3, 2012I've got a head-scratcher here that no one in the office can figure out (at my level anyway). I'm trying to count multiples of the same value within the same cell. For instance, if one cell's value is:
2, 2, 4, 5
I need my '2' count column to return two '2's. I'm using a wildcard because the cells will contain the numbers 1-7, some multiple times, and usually in different orders. The wildcard formula I'm using only picks up one if multiples of the same value are entered in one cell. Here's the formula:
=COUNTIF($C$4:$AG$60, "*"&"2"&"*")+COUNTIF($C$4:$AG$60, "2")
This formula only returns a value of one in the '2' count column. It can't find the second '2' for some reason. I haven't been able to make COUNTA work either.

I am trying to count the number of times a project number is identified in a column of cells. However, in any row in that column a cell may have multiple project numbers referenced, separated by commas.
Using countif Excel thinks that the cell has a different entry and it won’t include it in the count even though the criteria string is in the cell.
Sum Duplicate Data Without Doubling Up
Aug 31, 2006i have is a worksheet, columns A thru J. Column B has names in it, Column F has dollar amounts. i need to create a macro to find the duplicate entries in column B, add them in column F (which would overwrite the existing amount) and then delete all the duplicates. all of the columns between A and J contain data. i was able to do this on an totally different sheet using columns A and D. but i did not have other data in the sheet. it's been a long time since i completed this other sheet and i need a refresher course in vba.

Counting Instance In Column - COUNTIF Not Working
Feb 24, 2014Ok so I am trying to streamline the Shirt ordering process at my work. I have made a table with Employee names as Column A, then Row 1 is shirt sizes from small to XXXL. The Cell values are going to be the colors people want. I want to total the number of each size/color combination. But someone may want more than one of the same color. For instance you would enter "BK, BK" if you wanted 2 black shirts of that size. This is where the issue with COUNTIF comes in. If a cell has the same value twice, it only counts it as one because counts the cells with an instance of a value, not the actual count of instances. Is there a way to make COUNTIF or a better function for this?

May 7, 2007I'm trying to make a spreadsheet that will count the number of times a certain incident occurs, for a particular person, for a particular month. The attached spreadsheet is an example of what I need done.
For the attached spreadsheet, I need to find out how many times x employee has been late for x month, and how many times they've been late overall.
You can see one of the many tries I've attempted in the second sheet, but it doesn't seem to want to work. I have to be able to do this without VBA, because of signature issues.
If Statement In Cell Doubling Quantity That Is Being Returned?
Sep 10, 2013I have a spreadsheet that I am working on for an estimating tool for engineers in my office. I created an in cell pulldown that contains all of our pipe specs. The theory is that on another worksheet I have all the information for the labor costs, and by changing the spec in the pulldown will automatically change the numbers in the estimation table. Below is the if statement that I created. the only cell that I have the completed "if" statement in is C9, because it is adding almost double to the actual quantity that is supposed to be returned.

Counting Matching Values In Two Separate Ranges Without Counting Duplicates?
Jan 1, 2014I cannot get various formulas (Countif, Match, Frequency, Etc) to work properly.
I am trying to arrive at a total number of matches of numbers in cell range B1:G1 with any numbers entered into the cell range of K1:P11 and have the total of matches display in cell H1.
However I do not want to count duplicate numbers from the K1:P11 cells. (if the number 5 in posted in K1:P11 multiple times I only need it reported once in H1)
B1:G1 is the constant and the numbers will not change - K1:P11 cells will be populated by adding numbers until the all the numbers in B1:G1 is completed and match.

I have been using the COUNTIF function to count up numbers of items in various categories in a column.
The formulae I have been using are like this:
=COUNTIF(F$3:F$201, "Red")
or where I've wanted to combine various comments
=SUM(COUNTIF(F$3:F$201,"Yellow")+COUNTIF(F$3:F$201,"Cream"))
I'm not sure what formulae to use to count up
1) the total number of entries in that column, so that I can make sure that I haven't missed some (without having to check manually!)
2) how to count up the values that do not match the other categories that I have specified in the COUNTIFs: this would be a value for finding how many 'other' entries there are in that column, without having to specify those values

this is about a project is a granite to be installed in 104 units, these units are divided in 4 types (column "L") K1, K2, K3, K4
I tried IF, SUMIF, COUNTIF, ETC but I think that I need is some combined function that I'm not able to figure out.
as you can see in the attached file, my units 101, 102, etc is not been installed yet (column H is empty), but the units 209, 210, 211, 214 yes was installed on 5/6 for example.
for example, if i use =COUNTIF(H4:H20,">0"), will return me all the H that is not empty (=3), how many kitchen was installed so far, but, I would like to know how many of these returned units (3), is my different types: K1, K2, K3 and K4....

Column A would contain the status of the work e.g. open, in progress, closed etc.
Column B would contain the department: ict, development, operations, etc.
I want to do a summary that shows: How many are in ICT are open, closed etc.
I can do a countif to get the total open, in progress etc or total number of ICT jobs but not ICT In progress.

Dec 17, 2013I have attached a copy of my spreadsheet .My formula is in column BA and I am trying to figure out which students have 5 A* - C. We are only allowed to add 2 vocational subjects to this formula so basically 3 (or More) GCSEs + 2 BTEC/OCR Nationals. Now my formula works pretty well except if the candidate has 4 GCSEs and 0 or 1 BTEC it is still calculating as though the candidate has achieved 5 A* - C.
I have highlighted GCSE Subj in pink and Vocational Subj in Puple.

For example:
I'm trying to count how many times "paid in full" and "fully paid" occur in column A.
I have two formulas, and both seem to work, but since I don't really understand either of them, I'm wondering which I should use and how I would adapt it to include additional text strings. (Like adding "paid" to the list)
Here are my formuals (I didn't write either of them, another co-worker did)
=(COUNTIF(A:A,"paid in full"))+(COUNTIF(A:A,"fully paid"))
=SUMPRODUCT(--(A1:A50={"paid in full","fully paid"}))
Also, if there is another and easier way to do what I'm trying to do, I'd love to know.
