I am trying to figure a way to search for a cell that has a specific date and time range. There are several cell titles pending on the activity. I want to find a cell that has a time ** 7:30-15:30 , 15:31-17:30, 17:31-20:30. The end result is to calculate the activity between those time periods based on the data cells.
Example
If the date searched time field ** the activity ranges is 1635 I need to split the time and credit the activity time in the 730-1530 time and the rest on the 15:31-17:30 time
I have been able to do it on a single labor group based on time alone, but when I try to add the DATE to it my numbers go null. Eventually i will need to add 11 labor groups daily for weeks at a time .

find a formula that will calculate the hours between the two below values but only take in to consideration the business hours (from 9 to 17) and exclude any weekends?
08/03/2013 13:32:00
02/04/2013 09:32:50
I need to calculate the difference between two cells that are formated like this: 11/10/2006 13:00. Simple subtract only works when the date hasn't changed (the subtract formula seems to focus on the time and ignore the date).
I found a formula that will work, but the results are in regular numbers, I need the hh:mm format and if I change the format of the result column, the time displayed is wrong.
The formula is=((B2-A2)*1440)/60)
If my result is 122.6 in regular numbers, when I convert to hh:mm I get 14:00.
Is there a better way to do this? Also, is there a way to eliminate weekend & holiday hours from the calculation? This is not as important as getting the results to calculate correctly in the hh:mm format.
Is it possible to calculate hours if both the start and end time are in the same cell. Unfortunatly the developers of our scheduling program developed it so when you export the schedule to excel it shows Greg in A1 and 3:00pm-9:00pm in A2. I would like to have excel calculate the 6 hours so I can use it to auto generate another spread sheet I am making.

As long as he works after 6.30pm but works for at least one and a half hour, he will get the shift.
if work, 9am to 7:30pm, and have break between 2-3pm, should have 1.5hrs shift and 9.5hrs total
if work, 7:45pm-9:45pm, and have break between 8:30-9pm, total hrs work is 1.5 and shift hrs s/b 1.5hrs
if work 3pm to 12am and have break between 7-8pm, total hrs work is 8 and shift hrs s/b 5hrs
I have an excel spreadsheet where you enter the start time and end time for job function. Since some of the times cross midnight, I use the formula J3=IF(I3>H3,I3-H3,1+I3-H3) where I is the end time and H is the start time (format hh:mm). This part works fine, however when I sum column J and change my format to Time 37:38:00 (since it is over 24 hrs), it returns a large number of 2234:48:39 which should be closer to 223:00:00.

To do this, I need to be able to determine if at any point there are 2 or more pieces of equipment down at the same time, and if this is true, how many hours were overlapped. The attached spreadsheet shows how the data is presented.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to build a spreadsheet to calculate how many hours have elapsed between to entries; start time (H10) e.g. 9:15 AM and end time (I10) e.g. 12:15 PM. The formula that I am using in the calculation cell field (J10) is (I10-H10+(I10<H10))*24. This formula works great till I wish to include in an IF statement. What I would like is if the total hours calculated with the formula (I10-H10+(I10<H10))*24 is less than 4, return 4 (hours) otherwise the value. As well if there is no start time nor end time entered then return zero.

For each couple of rows, I need to find a way to calculate the number of hours elapsed from row 1 to row 2. In the first example, to calculate the number of hours between 12/2/2009 8:56:51 and 12/4/2009 6:35:27.
Any way to calculate the total hours staff work based on the mininum time of the first transaction to the maximum time of the transactions. I used a DMIN and DMAX function to get those times per employee. The issue is then the time goes over from one day to the next, such as from 11 PM to 4 AM the next day. As you can see in the data below, the fourth record shows the minimum time as 12 AM and the max as 11 PM with total time worked as 23 hours. In this example, the total hours worked should be five hours.

I have been trying to write a formula to calculate the differrence in days, hours or minutes between 2 cells in Excel.

I've being trying t calculate an excel formula to work out a order turnaround time based on opening hours.
Example: The store is open from 8 am to 6pm monday to friday, I need to get a formula to work out how long it took from the time the order was logged until it was completed, during the course of the working day - this works fine but if the order was received on 06/12/07 at 5:20 pm then was finally completed by 7/12/07 at 11:55 the next day I need to figure out how to take into consideration of non working hours during that time. (time from 6pm to 8 am next day
example 2 - if order was sent on the 06/12/07 at 01:30pm and completed at 06/12/07 4:30 then I know its taken 3 hours to complete
example 3 - if the order was sent on the 06/12/07 at 5pm and completed next day at 07/12/07 at 10am - then I know it took 3 hours to complete
I can calculate total hours when a user enters a start date/time and a finish date/time. The kick is I only want to include hours from 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM (10 hour period). So assuming all the start and end times will be in this range, how can i calculate work hours over multiple days? For example: Start date/time = 2/26/13 2:30 PM and end date/time = 2/28/13 10:30 PM. I want my calculated hours to show 28 hours.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a requirement of calculating time spent on ticket, basically a difference between the time a ticket was logged and when it was resolved.
First, working days are Saturday through Wednesday, i.e weekends are Thursday & Friday.
Second, there are different resolver groups or teams which work on a ticket. These teams have different working hours, some work from 07:30 to 15:30 on weekdays, and others work 24/7. Each ticket will be assigned only to one resolver group.I also need to consider holidays.
So, my requirement is to check the resolver group for each ticket, and decide the working hours based on it. After this check has to be done for holidays, and then difference between logged time and resolved time needs to caluculated in minutes.
Tickets can be logged at any time of the day / week, it may not always be logged during working hours only. in such cases calculate should consider next business day / hour as the start time.
Raw data for tickets is available in =Sheet1!$A$1:$E$21

(Excel 2007). I want to separate night hours 22:00-6:00 fom day hours 6:00-22:00 in my work plan.
I am using all kind of shifts for example
8:00-23:00 = 14 day hours 1 night hour
21:00-7:00= 2 day hours 8 night hours.
16:00-2:00=6 day hours 2 night hours
I am 2007 Excel user.
I am attempting to take a large data download of time in hours and minutes and average or get the sum. Each cell contains hours and minutes in this format:
203:30 (meaning 203 hours and 30 minutes)
196:05
72:22
6:55
I have formatted the column in everyway I can think of from custom hh:mm to time, to scientific--I have grasped at each straw I have used the TRIM function to ensure there is no leading space. When I attempt to average I receive the #DIV/0! error, and when I attempt to use SUM, I get a dash (-).
I have been researching this on the internet, and have tried everything that is slightly applicable, with no luck yet. I am wondering if it is because the hours are more than 24, so the hh:mm format does not truly apply...
When I am converting a time from Hours/Minutes to Hours/Tenths, Excel is not converting it consitantely. EXAMPLE: 1:15 = 1.25. When I format the cell to present only one place past the decimal point, sometimes the cell will round up to 1.3, and other times it will round down to 1.2. What am I missing?

There are two personnel (shown as initials) in the craft cell with the start and finish times of the job. Can I determine the number of personnel by counting the sets of initials i.e. PL + RD =2 then multiply that number by the time worked in this case 30mins (this will vary) so time committed would be 2*30=60mins.

Lunch is not paid. Holiday and vacation hours get calculated at the regular pay rate. Overtime is anything in excess of 8 hours per day and/or in excess of 40 hours per week and/or over 5 working days per week. Saturdays for most the employees will be overtime because it will be their 6th workday of the week; but it will be regular time for one employee as it will only be his 5th workday of the week.
For accounting and payroll purposes, we need the totals to display in both hour and decimal format.
So far, I have Lunch, Regular and Overtime hours figured out, but I still need to work with Saturday, Vacation and Holiday hours. Also, currently, the time in and out has to be typed in with the colon and AM or PM. Is there another way to input the info without having to type in those items? I'm trying to make it as user friendly as possible.

Format Time Cell For Greater Than 24 Hours: Hours & Minutes Only .....
View 9 Replies View RelatedI use Windows Vista and Excel 2007.
So to cut to the chase :
On my spreadsheet, I have 6 main groups of columns, each one comprising 4 columns with their own automated calculations across the range.
Group 1: Cell H5, Cell I5, Cell J5, Cell K5
Group 2: Cell L5, Cell M5, Cell N5, Cell O5
Group 3: Cell P5, Cell Q5, Cell R5, Cell S5
Group 4: Cell T5, Cell U5, Cell V5, Cell W5
Group 5: Cell X5, Cell Y5, Cell Z5, Cell AA5
Group 6: Cell AB5, Cell AC5, Cell Ad5, Cell AE5
Then I have two columns following those: Col AG, Col AI
In each one of those two columns, I am trying to sum up a total value using The IF Function.
In Cell AG5 : the sum of the values of cells K5+O5+S5+W5+AA5+AE5,
ONLY IF the values of Cells H5, L5, P5, T5,X5, AB5 is equal to AG3 (which is a symbol (wingding 3 for capital P), this occurs 3 times out of 6, sometimes twice only, and at random, so I need the sum of 3 cells (or 2) out of 6, based on the above criteria.
Same in Cell AI5: sum of the values of cells K5+O5+S5+W5+AA5+AE5
ONLY IF the values of Cells H5, L5, P5, T5,X5, AB5 is equal to AI3 (which is a symbol (wingding 3 for capital L), this again occurs 3 times out of 6, sometimes twice and again at random, so again I need the sum of 3 cells (or 2) out of 6, based on the above criteria.
Using the formula: =IF(T5=AI3,(W5),0) , I retrieved the value of cell W5 into cell AI5; and when I tried the formula :
=IF(T5=AG3,(W5),0) , in cell AG5, it returned the value 0 which is correct again, as T5 was equal to AI3 but NOT to AG3.
But I cannot work out how to add all of the three values relating to each symbol, independently in each column, as they each occur randomly.
This is the way it looks in the spreadsheet:
Cell H5 Cell I5 Cell J5 Cell K5/ Cell L5 Cell M5 Cell N5 Cell O5/
Symbol (for P) Text Text Value /Symbol (for L) Text Text Value
And so on 4 more times across.
I could of course add it all manually for each line but I would rather have a formula to do it for me as all the other calculations are automated and/or conditionally formatted.
I am making a schedule and I would like it to take out a 30 min break if the hours worked is over 6 hours.
I have so far
A B
1 11:00 7:30
=24*(B1-A1)
Gives me 8 hours, I would like it to subtract the 30 minutes only ifthe sum is over 6 and not alter the sum if it is under 6.
I have a UserForm that Dead Head Miles will be entered into one text box. The Trip Miles will be entered into the second text box I would like for the user form to show the answer after the first entries are made something like this:
1)Dead Head Miles 20 +
2) Trip Miles 500
----times---$2.00
3)Projected Rate $1040 --show this after the DH and Trip is entered and Multiplied by $2.00
I am working on word documents that has financial numbers on them. I am copying word pages to excel to calculate the numbers by using formulas and etc. I will cut to the chase; is there a way or a macro to insert into an excel template workbook(.xltx) when we open the template there will be a command button to select the word document (which we want to copy its pages) to excel sheets. When a new page begins a new sheet will be created and the page will be pasted on the new sheet.
It is not important if it has to have a command button to select the word document it is ok to run the macro and select the word document and it does not has to populate sheets according to length of word document (I can create lost of free sheets on the template)
The main idea is to gain the time I spend on copying the word document to excel sheets. Some documents can be very long (100 pages). I am using MS Office 2007.
I triend to export data but excel does not allow me to select word documents.
I have been trying to get excel to calculate elapsed time between two dates using mostly what I've read from other elapsed time posts. But I am clearly missing a step. I'm trying to streamline my process for taxes.
I want to take a time in the format of " yy/mm/dd hhmm " example: 1
3/04/24 2245 ( note its a 24hr clock) 13/04/24 2245 would represent 2013 April the 24th at 10:45PM.
------- A --------------- B -------------------- C
13/04/24 2245 ------13/05/24 0900 ---------[display hrs elapsed] <-- currently get #name?
I have custom formatted A and B to yy/mm/dd hhmm and formatted c to [h]:mm
When you enter b-a in column c you get #name?
If its easier to have the date and time into separate columns I can give that a shot, I was just trying to make it as streamlined as possible for copy past.
calculate the running total of time spent in the attached spreadsheet.
