How To Calculate Work Hours From Only A Start And Finish Date And Time

Feb 28, 2013

I can calculate total hours when a user enters a start date/time and a finish date/time. The kick is I only want to include hours from 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM (10 hour period). So assuming all the start and end times will be in this range, how can i calculate work hours over multiple days? For example: Start date/time = 2/26/13 2:30 PM and end date/time = 2/28/13 10:30 PM. I want my calculated hours to show 28 hours.

Calculate Start Date From Finish Date Minus 14 Working Hours

May 7, 2014

I needs a formula (not VBA) to calculate the required start date.

I have to do a job of 14 working hours and this job must be finished on 05-may-2014 13:00

My working week is from monday u/i friday and every day I work from 08:00-16:00

At what time do I have to start the job to get it done in time.

The formula should give this result: 01-may-2014 15:00

Mark The Hours On A Start And Finish Time

Mar 25, 2014

I am working on an excel spreadsheet for work and I have to show a chart that shows the time of day a space is in use. Right now I am having to mark all of these by hand which takes me forever because I have a couple thousand lines of information.

I need to mark the hours in use based off the start and finish time.

For Example:
1) If the start time was 7:00 and the end time was 10:45 then the markers would only mark 7am and 10am
2) If the start time was 7:15 and the end time was 10:00 then the markers would only mark 7am and 9am
3) If the start time was 7:30 and the end time was 10:30 then the markers would only mark 7am and 10am
4) If the start time was 7:45 and the end time was 10:15 then the markers would only mark 8am and 9am

I was given the formula and it works to count the whole hour but now I need the formula tweaked and I don't know how...I need the formula to account for quarterly hours...and I don't know how to fix it.

Attached is an example of the spreadsheet of what I currently have and of what I need. Book1.xlsx

Calculate Hours If Both The Start And End Time Are In The Same Cell

Is it possible to calculate hours if both the start and end time are in the same cell. Unfortunatly the developers of our scheduling program developed it so when you export the schedule to excel it shows Greg in A1 and 3:00pm-9:00pm in A2. I would like to have excel calculate the 6 hours so I can use it to auto generate another spread sheet I am making.

Formula For Date And Time Difference Using 8am-5pm Work Hours

Oct 22, 2008

I need to enter a formula that calculates the time a report is received from the time it was recorded in our database. therefore, it needs to exclude non working hours. here are the fields:

A1 2008/10/10 16:30
B1 2008/10/11 09:30
C1 8:00
D1 17:00

A1 = report received
B1 = reported recorded in db
C1 = work day start time
D1 work day end time

Where the answer should = 2 hours.

I am not an experienced excel user and so far the only formula I have now is: =TEXT(B1-A1, "d:hh:mm")

And how do I account for weekends?

Calculate Start / Stop Time And Also Include Date

Mar 13, 2014

I have a small project at work where I am being asked to put a simple spread sheet that will calculate a start/stop time - and also include the date. For example:

Start time 5pm, date: 3/13. The spread sheet to auto calculate what the stop time and date will be if a specific amount of hours is to be calculated. For example in this case, 12 hours. From calculating in my head that would be 5am the following day. However, how can I get this in excel to work and therefore all i would have to do is enter the start time and date, + 12 hrs, and excel would calculate the time/date after the additional 12 hrs.

Calculate Date/time Format Over 24 Hours

Nov 22, 2006

I need to calculate the difference between two cells that are formated like this: 11/10/2006 13:00. Simple subtract only works when the date hasn't changed (the subtract formula seems to focus on the time and ignore the date).

I found a formula that will work, but the results are in regular numbers, I need the hh:mm format and if I change the format of the result column, the time displayed is wrong.

The formula is=((B2-A2)*1440)/60)

If my result is 122.6 in regular numbers, when I convert to hh:mm I get 14:00.

Is there a better way to do this? Also, is there a way to eliminate weekend & holiday hours from the calculation? This is not as important as getting the results to calculate correctly in the hh:mm format.

Calculate Future Dates From Start Date With Varying Time Period/cycle

Sep 11, 2009

I need to determine a formula which will allow me to calculate a future date based upon a current date with varying time periods.

For example:

I have a bill which is paid on the 15th and last business day of each month. I would like to be able to see the next due date regardless of what day of the week it is.

I have a bill which is paid every other Tuesday. I would like to know the next due date without having to enter +14 for every due date in the future. In other words, it is preferable to be able to open the spreadsheet and automatically see the next due date, not use autofill to repeatedly add +14 to a previous date which would limit the # of future due dates that could be calculated.

I have a bill which is paid on the last business day of each month, not the last Friday of each month. I would need excel to return a value for the last day of the month which = Monday-Friday, regardless of what day of the week it may be as long as it isn't Saturday or Sunday(holiday exclusion would be nice but not required).

Automatic Finish Date & Time With Lunch Break And Bank Holidays

Feb 13, 2010

I would like a solution for the automatic calculation of the end date and end time for project tasks. I have already spent hours on the issue, thanks for any help on this.

The parameters are:
A1 = Start time 08:00
B1 = End Time 17:00
A2 = break lunch 12:00
B2 = back from lunch 13:00

Task parameters

A5 = start date 01/03/10 (entered manually)
B5 = start time 10:00 (entered manually)
C5 = duration 02:00 (hrs entered manually)
D5 = "end date" >>> (to be calculated exluding breaks and holidays)
E5 = "end time" >>> (to be calculated exluding breaks and holidays)

the next line should be filled in automaitically according to the hours needed and the previous end date & time

A6 = "start date" >>> (after line 5: to be calculated exluding breaks and holidays)
B6 = "start time" (after line 5: to be calculated exluding breaks and holidays)
C6 = duration 14:00 (entered manually)
D6 = "end date" >>> (to be calculated exluding breaks and holidays)
E6 = "end time" >>> (to be calculated exluding breaks and holidays)

and so on for every new line down.

For example if someone works 1:00 am to 8:00 am I need a cell to populated with 5 representing the hours worked before 6 am. The formula below works fine except when the start time is 12:00 am. I am also having trouble if the start time is before midnight like in a 11pm to 5 am shift.

=(IF(AND(S3<=$AG$97,S3>=$AG$73),(($AG$97-S3))*24,0))

S3 is the start time

AG97 is 6:00 am

AG73 is 12:00 am

Calculate Difference Between Dates In Work Hours With Lunch Period

Mar 8, 2013

I need also to calculate difference between dates(dd-mm-aaaa hh:mm) in workhours ( hh:mm):

The work period is 9-18 with lunch interval 13-14 The startdate and end date could be out of the work hours and i can't include the extra hours. I can have several days (workdays) at the difference, but i should maintain the format hh:mm.

Ex1:
Startdate 05-03-2013 18:34 ( date to calculation should be 05-03-2013 18:00)
end date 06-03-2013 10:30
Time Difference 1:30 ( from 9 to 10:30 of 06-03-2013 )
will be equal to:
Startdate 06-03-2013 8:34 ( date to calculation sould be 06-03-2013 9:00 )
end date 06-03-2013 10:30
Time Difference 1:30 ( from 9 to 10:30 of 06-03-2013 )

Ex2:
Startdate 06-03-2013 12:01
End date 06-03-2013 14:28
Time Difference 01:29

Start/Stop Timer For Hours Worked To Include Break Time

Oct 15, 2007

I have placed a time capture button in the excel sheet (which is simply a macro saying =now() function)

The user clicks it before starting and after finishing the task. The start and end times are captured in adjacent cells.

If the user starts the work, and goes on a lunch break say for 20 min, comes back finishes the task and captures end time, the time difference will not consider break time which is non productive.

How can I incorporate something like 'pause' option so that before he goes for lunch he can temporarily pause the time.

Calculating Start And Finish Times For A Process

For example, Process A may take 18 hours to complete, Process B may take 28 hours to complete and Process C may take 125 hours to complete etc

However these processes only run during certain times, i.e. 9am to 5pm.

Ideally I would like to setup a spreadsheet that when given the start time and process time calculates the (date and) time the process will finish.

I can get it to work on a 24 hour day but I've been tearing my hair out trying to take out the none-working part of the day (the 5pm to 9am).

Public last_structure As Range 'Last cell in Column
Public molcell As Range 'Current cell in range

' Establish range of cells in Column A

Set last_structure = Range("A2").End(xlDown)
Set all_structures = Range(Range("A2"), Range(last_structure)) ***

' Loop through each structure in turn
For Each molcell In all_structures

Loop code In here

Next molcell

When I run I get an error message of "Run-time error '1004': Method 'Range' of object '_Global' failed". It does not like the line marked ***.

Operational Model - Shift Start Time Plus Amount Of Hours Worked In One Cell.

Is it possible that a cell contains both numeric and alphanumeric data and to do calculations on that?
For example: if a cell conatain the value "10a" or "8.5b" etc. Would it be possible to have a column that gives me the hours worked (the numeric value in the cell) and a line that gives me the amount of people that are working on shift "a" (the alphanumeric value in the cell).

Is this at all possible? Or does that require VBA/Macros and stuff (in which case this is posted in the wrong part of the forum )
