Calculate The Time Between Two Points (on Different Days)
Mar 1, 2009I am trying to calculate the duration between two times on different days.
For example - I want to know the number of days/hours/minutes/seconds between 25th Feb 2009 20:00 & 27th Feb 2009 22:00.
I am sure that the key is how I enter the data into the cells and how those cells are formatted, I just cannot get Excel to see that the times are on different days. At the moment my data is in a raw format with times in one column and dates in another.

Jun 17, 2014I have a time column (A) that when looked in the cell only shows AM & PM times, but the cell itself (not showing) contains dates too, keeping me from be able to do a sheet wide sort of time or time frame occurrences.
Can I do some thing to sort these cells with their corresponding rows based on time only disregarding dates?
I am trying sort out all rows that in column (A) is time equal to or greater than 4:00 PM OR even maybe sort all rows that column (A) shows a time between 4:00 PM & 7:00 PM. The date in the cell is the problem, I think. Excel 2013

I have this example above which i want to know what is the total % change from Jan to Jun. In the total column, the result i got is 19% using formula
=1*(1+B6)*(1+C6)*(1+D6)*(1+E6)*(1+F6)*(1+G6)-1.
Is there any other more simplified or better formula that can be used actually?

I am trying to figure a way to search for a cell that has a specific date and time range. There are several cell titles pending on the activity. I want to find a cell that has a time ** 7:30-15:30 , 15:31-17:30, 17:31-20:30. The end result is to calculate the activity between those time periods based on the data cells.
Example
If the date searched time field ** the activity ranges is 1635 I need to split the time and credit the activity time in the 730-1530 time and the rest on the 15:31-17:30 time
I have been able to do it on a single labor group based on time alone, but when I try to add the DATE to it my numbers go null. Eventually i will need to add 11 labor groups daily for weeks at a time .

I want to break this down into a number that can be compared to a work week. In other words, if a typical work day is 8 hours, can I break this down to show work days and remaining hours and minutes? I'd like it to break down as: ?days ?hours ? minutes where days is an 8 hour day, not a 24 hour day

Jun 7, 2014I receive monthly expenditure returns from different departments which I have to consolidate. The problem I'm encountering is that some departments submit their data as a monthly figure and some as the cumulative position. It would be useful if I had a formula that identified what data type was submitted and from that calculate both the monthly and cumulative figure.
If you look at the attached example I'd like to input a formula in columns I and J that uses the data contained in columns B to E to calculate the monthly and cumulative expenditure figures.
Excel 2010 :: Count Max Time Frames Overlapping On Continuous Days
Aug 1, 2013I'm having trouble defining the time overlaps on continuous days for the varying results of the runs for my simulation.
For the following data set, without counting overlaps there are 18 total spare requirements, but if I take into account their overlaps in their duration there should be a total of 11 per day. For example in row 4 this event overlapped in the same day with the event of row 5 so both had only 2 overlaps as a result (So there is not possible to be 1 as an answer for overlap, there is only from 2 to "n" amount or 0).
But if an event overlaps with more than one in their duration the result would be their maximum overlap during this time frame.
So then I have for each event an Starting date, starting time, duration, ending date and ending duration.And for each day I would need the total amount of overlaps occurred for the duration of each event and from those I would take their maximum amount of overlaps occurred per day. To obtain their real requirement as shown on the file.
The manual procedure I'm using looks like this for the first day: (Graphical representation)
Event 1 occurs from 17:02 to 20:29 and only overlaps with Event 3, so it's 2
Event 2 occurs from 20:38 to 23:38, also only overlaps with Event 3, then its also a 2
For Event 3 in its whole duration only overlapped with Even 1 and Event 2, one at a time so its maximum overlaps where only 2.
And that's what I'm using so far to determine these amounts but since is a simulation, I would end up with several data from each run and this method would be too long. That's why I would need this template to paste data for each run (15 days) and obtain my results faster.

Apr 3, 2014I have been trying to get excel to calculate elapsed time between two dates using mostly what I've read from other elapsed time posts. But I am clearly missing a step. I'm trying to streamline my process for taxes.
I want to take a time in the format of " yy/mm/dd hhmm " example: 1
3/04/24 2245 ( note its a 24hr clock) 13/04/24 2245 would represent 2013 April the 24th at 10:45PM.

I have custom formatted A and B to yy/mm/dd hhmm and formatted c to [h]:mm
When you enter b-a in column c you get #name?
If its easier to have the date and time into separate columns I can give that a shot, I was just trying to make it as streamlined as possible for copy past.

Nov 22, 2013I want to calculate the end date of my German courses. This is how it works:
A course consists of 60 LU*. The course can occur i. e. three times a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. In each day the course lasts 2 LU, which means 6 LU each week. There is no course on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and on holidays. Therefore this type of course that begins on 18-Nov-2013 will end on 03-Feb-2014.
Another course which occurs Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and respectively has 2 LU on Tuesday, 2 LU on Thursday and 3 LU on Saturday and starts on 03-Dec-2013 will end on 06-Feb-2014.
Therefore I want to create a worksheet where I set the start date, choose the days and respectively the LU amount on those days. The end date shall be calculated according to these criteria.
The workday function on excel cannot do this and I do not have any programming skills to work with VBA.

*LU = lesson units; 1 LU is 45 minutes

Example:
Breakpoint:
cum sales are > 500 pay at 3%
cum sales are >1,000 pay at 2%
month/ sales/ cumul sales/ amount due
jan/ 100.00/ 100.00/ 0
feb/ 600.00/ 700.00/ 6.00
mar/ 600.00/ 1,300.00/ 18.00
and so on...until the end of year.
I tried using an if formula by could not get it to work.

So column 1 is the "entity name" and column 2 is the "value/amount".
I can't make this chart look right at all. I have Excel 2007.

I have a few thousand rows of this. The X's could be placed in any column. I need to go through this data and determine the maximum days between X's for each row. I can't think of how to do something like this with either an equation or with VBA.
I can't get it to line up in the table above. But basically, there could be an X in Sunday and on Wednesday in one row. The next, could be every day of the week, the next could be any other combination. There could be 7 X's, 1 X, 3 X's, whatever.

Apr 22, 2014I am currently using the following formula which has been working great for what we needed it to do:

The formula determine what was been completed on the previous work day. If it fell on a weekend or a holiday specified in another table, it would consider it the following weekday's work. However, the needs of management have changed and they would now like to see anything completed on a weekend or holiday push back to the previous weekday and I'm not exactly sure how to modify this formula to do that.
As an example, work was completed over Good Friday. Yesterday (Monday) when we ran the report, none of those showed up in our list of completed items until today (Tuesday). They would have liked those numbers to be included on Monday's report to get an accurate picture of work that was completed.
I have attached some sample data. Everything completed on the 18th, 19th is counted as 1 day behind but we would like 18th and 19th to be shown as 2 days behind, just like April 17. That way, if we ran the report today and set the filter to 1 (for column C), those items would not show up, but they would have shown up on yesterday's report.

I’m trying to calculate when someone goes sick to see whether they are entitled to company sick pay (CSP) Statutory sick pay (SSP) and most people will have waiting days (W D) before qualifying for CSP.
A6:A735 have set dates for two years
D6:D735 have the sick days an employee has taken
B6:B735 Matches the sick date to the date in column A
G2 has how many days entitlement for CSP
H2 has how many waiting days (W D) before CSP can start
In Column C i need CSP, SSP, or W D next to the number 1
And if someone only has 1 day sick they would not qualify for any of the above and I just need “S” in column C.

I have been using the following formula =IF($C5="","",MAX(0,MIN(L$1,$C5)-MAX(K$1,$B5))) but when the stay is a full year it is giving me 365 in a single column. I think maybe I need to add in the number of days in the month but not sure how to do it.

Apr 17, 2009In the attached workbook, I have subtotaled a list of parts. I want to add a formula beside the subtotals, under Column C, "Days BO", that subtracts earliest date in column R from the latest date in column R, for each part number.
I have added a simple formula to the attached example that does what I want, but the full sheet will be thousands of lines weekly, with varying part numbers, and different counts. I don't know how to take the count function into account so I can copy a single formula all the way down the sheet.
