I am trying to do a dynamic sumifs that allows the user to use data validation lists to select 5 items to query. This is the easy part.
The hard part is that the amounts range to sum goes across 6 weeks and I want the answer to also take account of another validation input which specifies up to what week the range should be.
I have done a simply if statement in row 8 that flags weeks relevant to input cell B6.
How do I do a formula in say cell A16 that does the sumifs and acknowledges that the user has requested a dynamic range to sum?

I have a some data where I need to sum some data based on date range, and dept id's. But the dept ids are parts of various groups. For ex, one group covers about 300+ dept id's. Some of them have ranges (e.g. dept 1000 - 1050) but for whatever reason some dept id's that belong to other groups sometimes fall into the same ranges.
My first hope was one big range, but the overlap issue nixed that. As I mentioned there are some ranges so maybe 100 of them could be grouped into a range but I'd still have 200+ independent dept id's.
I read for 2003 the max criteria for sumproduct is 30 and for 2007+ it's 255. So maybe 2007 might cut it but this doesn't seem like the right way.
Btw, I'm doing this in VBA but I mention sumproduct because I've used it a few times within code via evaluate. Otherwise do I just have a massive string in vba (If deptid = #### or deptid = #### or deptid = #### etc)?
Again, it seems like there should be a better way. I thought about making a master list of all the dept's and sumproduct each one individually and then sum from the ones that fall under group but even then I have to identify the deptids I need for a particular group.
I am using Office/Excel 2007 and Windows 8
I want to determine the number of values SUMIF/SUMPRODUCT functions used/checked to arrive at the answer, i.e. 95 for row 2 and 116 for row 3. A function that can give a 3 and 2 respectively.
Example:
Results for Row #2 gives: 95 with 3 values picked up under "Rate"
Results for Row #3 gives: 116 with 2 values though three places were checked up under "Rate"
How can I count the number of these values referencing at the "Rate" like in the functions used.
I managed to use SUMIF/SUMPRODUCT functions to calculate totals based on "Rate" in row one.
I tried COUNTIF function, but allows only field/heading.

3 formula: =COUNTIF(B1:G2,B1)
Adding condition to SUMPRODUCT causes result to go up? (2007). I have the following formula:
View 5 Replies View RelatedI need to check each of 13,000 job titles to see if they include the string "VP".
For the time being, I want to find the most efficient way to check an individual title, before building an array or SUMPRODUCT function that will check all the titles in swoop.
So... I have tried:
=ISNUMBER(SEARCH(A1,B1))
..but it returns TRUE if A1 and B1 are both blank -- which they can be in my spreadsheet.
And I have tried:
=SIGN(SEARCH(A1,B1))
but it returns #N/A if A1 cannot be found within B1.
If I can, I want to avoid introducing an IF statement because, looking ahead, I am already concerned that this analysis will be complicated enough without multiple paths.
So.. what's the most efficient way to return a TRUE/FALSE, or 1/0, result depending on whether A1 is in B1?

An extension of the above problem... arrays and SUMPRODUCTs welcome:
What's the most efficient way to return a TRUE/FALSE, or 1/0, result depending on whether (A1 or A2 or A3... or A99) is in B1?
I've got a long formula here. If the resulting expression is equal to "0-0" I want it to go blank as if it was an error, and if it isn't, I want it to show the resulting expression as normal.

look at the tab "Publisher sumif summary" and at the "Q" column. There is already a formula in place which returns a number from column B in the "Publisher Control Sheet".
If you look at Column B in the "publisher control sheet", you can see that for some of the companies in column A there is no number. Instead, there is a number in Column C where there is no number for column B.
The problem at the moment is that I don't know how to get the data from Column C factored into the equation, which I will describe below
Essentially, i need the formula in the Q column of the "Publisher sumif summary" to return "((Column M number (impressions) /1000)* Column C number) with the column C number coming from the "Publisher control sheet" tab. It needs to only do this where there is no number in column B, and how to add this function!
I am using this formula, but if the referenced cell is blank, it keeps putting a 0 in the cell. I want the cell to be blank if the referenced cell is blank.
=IFERROR(INDIRECT($E$1&"!$C4"),MATCH(INDIRECT($E$1&"!$C4"),""))
I have attached a simple example worksheet showing what I am trying to do. I have a contract start date, a contract finish date, a notice period and a standard review period. To get a date when I should start my contract review I do the following: (finish date-notice period)- review period.
This is fine when the finish date is populated but if it isn't it results in a negative number. What I want to achieve is if there is not a finish date then leave the review date cell blank.
How do i get IFERROR to return blank? right now when I end the IFERROR with ,"" - I am getting 0.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am checking whether or not two different cells contain a number or the error #NA.
If one of the cells contains a number then the result will be that number.
If both cells contain #NA then the result should be “99”
Example:
Formula in Column C
The values are in columns A and B.
If the value in cell A is a number the result is A.
If the value in cell B is a number the result is B.
If the value in cell A and B equal #NA the result is 99
I am trying to get this tricky formula to work with vlookup and if error. The problem is that excel will not recognize the formula when I try to drag it down, but instead repeats the same numbers over again. I've tried some combinations using vlookup, rows, and if error, but it doesn't seem to work. So I'm trying to drag down the formula from g3:g99, to reference either cells b8:99, or whichever value I enter into f1, on down to b99.

I have a spreadsheet with the following:
Column E is a product. If that product is ordered, any character is entered in that cell
Column F has a due date
Column I has the received date
What I want is to count the number of cells that have any character in column E AND the received date is later than the due date
These two formulas are working fine alone but I cannot get them to work together.

How to include a boolean OR in my SUMPRODUCT formulas.
Software: WinXP SP2 and Excel 2003 SP3
I'll try to type in some data in legible format:
......Col B.....Col C.....Col D.....Col E.......Col F
1...NW OH....WMA.....110%....NW OH...(result)
2...NW OH....SIS.......130%
3...SO FL......PRB........92%
4...NW OH....TRO......104%
I want to sum the contents of Column D when Column B = a given text value located in Cell E1 AND Column C = text value #1 OR text value #2 OR text value #3, and plunk the result in Cell F1.
So for example if I have NW OH in Cell E1 and my values to match in Col C are WMA, SIS, or PRB, I need a result of 240%.
I am using dynamic ranges for the contents of Columns B, C, and D: CALC_AFFIL, CALC_TITLE, and CALC_PERC respectively.
I have tried:
=SUMPRODUCT(--(CALC_AFFIL=$E1),--(CALC_TITLE="WMA")+--(CALC_TITLE="PRB")+--(CALC_TITLE="SIS"),CALC_PERC)
=SUMPRODUCT(--(CALC_AFFIL=$E1),--(CALC_TITLE="WMA")+--(CALC_TITLE="PRB")+--(CALC_TITLE="SIS"),--CALC_PERC)
Also tried both the above formula w/o the "--" in front of any array.
=SUMPRODUCT(--(CALC_AFFIL=$E1),--(CALC_TITLE={"WMA","PRB","SIS"}),CALC_PERC)
Again, the above was tried with and w/o the combinations of "--" in front of arrays.
=SUMPRODUCT(--(CALC_AFFIL=$E1),--ISNUMBER(MATCH(CALC_TITLE={"WMA","PRB","SIS"},0)),CALC_PERC)
Once more with and w/o "--" combinations.

The following formula works perfectly in Excel 2003:
=SUMPRODUCT((A2:A10="A")*(b2:b10="B")*(c2:c10="C"))
However, I've got a fourth column that contains either a date or a blank cells; I want to limit the formula to only include certain dates in the sum. i.e:
=SUMPRODUCT((A2:A1000="A")*(b2:b10="B")*(c2:c10="C")*(d2:d10>="01/04/2014"))
Rather than an error it's just retuning an incorrect number.
I have 3 ranges of data which each have a quantity and a length. I want to create from these ranges a list of unique values with the total quantity required of each value (as shown). Inputs on any column may be blank but where there is a length, there will be an adjacent quantity to the left.
I'm using Excel 2010.
Using Excel 2010, I am trying to do a Sumproduct formula with two criteria, one of which needs to ignore text values.
Here is the set up:
Column AColumn BColumn C
(Side)(Qty)(Price)
Buy5,51215.67
Sell119,428null
Buy24,20945.77
Sell20,05412.25
...
I'm trying to find the sumproduct of Qty * Price if the side equals "Buy" (or "Sell") but ignoring the "null" value in column C. The formula I have is =SUMPRODUCT(--($A$2:$A$20="Buy")*IF(ISNUMBER($C$2:$C$20),--($B$2:$B$20*$C$2:$C$20)))
The result in the cell is 0, but if I open the Insert Function dialog box, I see the correct value being returned.
Using excel 2010: I am calculating a dollar weighting with one isolation factor, the state where the sale took place. My current formula is below. Each dollar amount in AG3:AG2000 has a corresponding weighting in AB3:AB2000. The results are isolated by the corresponding state in the range E3:E2000.
I want to add in an additional isolation, the month when the sale took place. The months are located in H3:H2000. Where in my current formula would I insert the isolation for the month?
=SUMPRODUCT(--(Sales!$E$3:$E$2000='2013 NB'!S8),
Sales!$AG$3:$AG$2000,Sales!$AB$3:$AB$2000)/
SUMIF(Sales!$E$3:$E$2000,'2013 NB'!S8,Sales!$AG$3:$AG$2000)
I am using Excel 2010 and I am trying to average the amount of days in a month to a daily average per person in my worksheet.
Total sales per person
A5 = 10 - This is the Grand total per person for column A
A6 =4
A7=6
Daily average per person
C5=2.6 - Average for all persons here
C6=2.0
C7=3.0
The formula I am using is:
=(SUMPRODUCT($A$6:$A$15,C6:C15))/$A5
Which gives me an answer of 2.6 in cell C5 as shown above which is what I am wanting.
Please note that my cell range for my staff goes from 6-15 for both Column A and C where the other cells are blank in both columns.
My question is, If I was to clear all the data in both Columns A6:A15 and C:6:C15, cell C5 would return to a #VALUE. How to I change the formula so that if the cells were Blank, cell C5 would also be blank until I enter data for each person again?
I'm using Excel 2010. I have a spread sheet with sales data covering 3 years and multiple customers. I was able to create formulas such as this to calculate the figures for the entire sheet (all customers) by year.
=SUMIFS(J2:J12904,E2:E12904,">12/31/11",E2:E12904,"<1/1/13").
I believe that in order to use filters that show this date for a specific customer I need to convert this to a SUMPRODUCT formula, I've tried this multiple times and had no luck.

I am trying to use Datevalue in Excel 2007
When I put in =datevalue("08/22/2008") I get the error #Value!
If I put in datevalue("2008/08/22") 39682 which is what I was expecting. If I use =datevalue("08/08/22") I also get the right answer, anything else I get #VALUE!
I didn't think that Datevalue mattered with how the date was in?
Do I have a setting wrong of something that could be causing the error?
