Excel 2010 :: Update Time In A1 Timer VBA Code

Jun 2, 2014

The only change I made was to change the "Sheet1" to "Journal" to match the worksheet name in my workbook.

As you close and reopen the workbook, the timer should start with =NOW() in A1 (formatted as "HH:MM:SS") and count up with the current time until you close the workbook.

I use Excel 2010, could that be the problem, that I copied a VBA code for an older version of Excel???

Question: What exactly is a regular module, do I use Module 1 for the first portion of the code or place it in ThisWorkbook?

Excel 2010 :: Progress Bar With Countdown Timer And Elapsed Time

Aug 16, 2012

I have a macro that runs through about 40,000 records which can be quite time consuming. I currently have a status bar that shows the percent of work complete, but I'd like to add something that shows an estimate of how much time is remaining and how much time has passed. Below is the first loop in my code that uses the progress bar. You'll see that I modified the progress bar to include "Label 2" which shows the current record of the total record count, I'd like to add "Label 3" to show something like "2:30 elapsed, 1:15 remaining".

I'm using Excel 2010 on Windows 7 (64 bit).

Sub IdentifyGS()

POData.Activate

Excel 2010 :: Using Current Month / Date And Time In A Folder Path In VBA Code

Feb 4, 2014

I’m working on a project using Microsoft Excel 2010 and I want to add some features to facilitate saving and retrieving files process.

1.How can I save the daily created workbooks (Assume 15 files a day) in order to contain the current date (and time if possible) linked with certain cell(s) I have at my workbook forming the file name? (XYZ 2-4-2014) and/or (ABC 2-4-2014 23:11) and so on …

2.I’ve been through some other posts and I found VB code which saves the active file into specific path, but it is only useful for single workbook because multiple files are getting overwritten automatically. Is there a code which allows multiple/different files saving & creates daily folders?

Excel 2007 :: Start Timer After Workbook Open For Certain Amount Of Time

Dec 28, 2013

I have the following code below for a timer in a userform. Right now it is configured to start when a button is clicked. I would like to have it automatically start the timer after the workbook is open for more than 5 minutes but so far have been unable to get it to do so. I have tried putting the code in the workbook module but it still won't run. It also has a button to reset the timer if they need more time in the workbook and also a button for them to save and close the workbook if they are finished. I'm running Excel 2007.

VB:
Private Sub CBReset_Click()
Dim T, E, M As Double, S As Double
T = Timer
Do
E = CDbl(Time) * 24 * 60 * 60 - T 'elapsed time in secs
M = AllowedTime - 1 - Int(E / 60)
S = 59 - Round((E / 60 - Int(E / 60)) * 60, 0)

VBA Code To Update Next Cell In Column According To Time?

Jul 4, 2012

I can easily use VBA to update a column's next cell with a value from a static cell. As easy as this may be for most, I seem to be struggling!

For example, I would like cell B3 (then B4, B5, B6 etc) to update, according to a value (time frame in seconds) in cell C3, with a value from the cell D3.

Excel 2010 :: File To Update Just Once Per Day?

Dec 23, 2013

I have an Excel 2010 workbook that is fairly slow to open (10-15 secs) because it is rather formula heavy. This workbook is opened by quite a few different people every day. What I would like to do is to open the file overnight using windows Task Scheduler and to update the file (using a workbook open event macro) and then for the rest of that day whenever the file is opened the formulas do not update until overnight the next day (and so on and so on).

I thought maybe toggling the Calculation Manual off/on? Would this be the best tactic?

Excel 2010 :: Macros - How To Update Active Worksheet Only

Oct 7, 2011

I am using excel 2010.

I have a macro-based employee leave system that works by couting the number of days shaded with a certain colour and thus calculating leave days taken, remaining and entitled... I have a single workbook with multiple sheets for different employees.

However, when I update by using ctrl alt f9, it updates all the other worksheets (ignoring their shading) with the values of the active worksheet! So if I update Peter, who has taken 14 days so far, it will update Liam's sheet too, with 14 days, ignoring Liam's actual shaded days...

How can I update each sheet individually, without compromising the other sheets?

Excel is not responding to Shift - F9.

Excel 2010 :: VBA Code To Extract HTML Source Code Not Working On Google Sites

Dec 6, 2012

I have previously used the following code to successfully pull out IE webpage source code for string manipulation.

Its a crude example to demonstrate the principle:

Public Declare Sub Sleep Lib "kernel32" (ByVal dwMilliseconds As Long)
Public IE As Object
Sub Sample()
Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
IE.Visible = True

[Code] ......

However when I substitute in a Google websites address into the IE.Navigate command, the code runs to the "Source_Code = IE.document ...." line then flags up a Microsoft Visual Basic error. "Run-time error '438': Object doesn't support this property or method"

The webpage that I am trying to access is a confidential company site, so you won't be able to access it yourself, but starts with [URL] ......

The one thing that I have noticed about this website is the Privacy Report icon in the lower right status window (Picture of an eye with a restricted symbol in front). I don't know whether this is the cause of my problem, or purely an incidental observation.

Is there something peculiar with Google sites that means that the source code cannot be extracted in general, or is this an issue specific to my site ? Does the Privacy Report icon have any relevance, and if so how do I switch that off ?

MS Excel 2010

Excel 2010 :: Horizontal Axis Labels Not Updating Range - Have To Update It Twice To Stick

Jan 28, 2013

I recently switched to Excel 2010 and have a rather peculiar problem.Every week I update a bunch of charts in different workbooks. By update, I pretty much mean just shifting the range over one column or down one row to incorporate newly added data.

So I right click the chart, select "Select Data", update all the Data series ranges and then I click on the Horizontal (Category) Axis Labels button "Edit" to update the Axis label range.

I do all that then press OK. The data series have updated, but the axis labels haven't. So then I do the procedure again for the Axis Labels, hit OK again and voila: It worked.

But I ALWAYS have to do this procedure twice. It will NEVER update the axis labels the first time around. Even though the little preview window below the edit button show the labels correctly.

Time To Completion Countdown Timer

I need to list multiple items that end in, example:at time entered there is 45:14:50 = Hr:Mn:Sec to completion, and would like the date and time of completion or just a countdown to 0 would work. I will have 60 to 70 items running at the same time with different start times and lengths. Picture queueing up items at different times to complete in different length of time and I need to be ready when each item is done. I know this is an Excel forum but I also use Apple Numbers so if either one works better I'm fine with that.

In the attached file, column R is the start time that I enter that needs to be calculated to column S. When I enter an item that takes 54hrs 23min 45seconds to complete, what date and time will it be ready.

Button Used For Capturing Time (Timer)

Feb 8, 2009

When reading a water meter in a large apartment building a meter reader can also click a timer (LAP) button as the meter passes preset intervals. The worksheet would record the "lap times" in separate cells which could then be compared and usage figures can be calculated, allowing the meter reader to know if there is currently a Leak or other problem before leaving the premesis.

In the attached worksheet you can see what I would like the meter reader enters the reading - the light green "Interval List" is created from that reading. The Meter reader then watches the meter clicking the LAP button each time the interval is passed, the current time is then stored to the Pink cells (Similar to the NOW() function), the times are then calculated in other cells like I did in the Blue column in this case showing elapsed time.

I have tried several ways to do this using NOW, but each time all the cells are updated to NOW not just the current cell - and the Single Button woulod be really nice so the meter reader didn't have to look away from the meter.

Optimizing Macro To Run Faster - Timer Code

May 3, 2007

Here is exactly what was described:

A good place to start is to add some "timer code" in your macro. Add a small routine that saves a time value, and another routine that compares that saved value to the current time and displays the difference. At the beginning of a section of code you want to analyze, you call the first routine (which saves the start time), and then at the end of the section of code you call the second routine. In that way, you can determine which portions of your code are taking the longest time to execute. These are the code sections you then focus on, so you can figure out what they are doing that is taking so long.

This sounds like a great tool for optimization...

Start/Stop Timer For Hours Worked To Include Break Time

I have placed a time capture button in the excel sheet (which is simply a macro saying =now() function)

The user clicks it before starting and after finishing the task. The start and end times are captured in adjacent cells.

If the user starts the work, and goes on a lunch break say for 20 min, comes back finishes the task and captures end time, the time difference will not consider break time which is non productive.

How can I incorporate something like 'pause' option so that before he goes for lunch he can temporarily pause the time.

Excel 2010 :: Calculating Average Elapsed Time

Apr 3, 2014

In our sql server table, we have a field of type DATETIME. This field is populated by a vendor product with the elapsed time of an event.

We created a SQL Server view of this column and other columns of info joined together from several tables.

Then we create in Excel 2010 a new spreadsheet with a data connection to the SQL Server, instance, and view that we created.

Excel 2010 displays each of the columns in our view.

The elapsed time column appears as "dd hh:mm:ss". However, when we click on a cell to look at its formatting, Excel lists it as general.

We want to calculate the average time in this column.

We go down below the data, click on a cell, and insert =Average(C2:C17215) and we get an error saying dividing by zero.

We have 17,000+ rows of data, so there is no divide by zero math going on here. Each row in this column has data, so there are no blank cells.

We have spent some time web searching. We then tried various methods of calculating this. Nothing has worked. In most cases, we get the divide by zero. We tried some solutions that mention using an array forumula, but that just changed the error to an invalid value error.
