I would like make a cell in a report auto update with the most recent data entered in another cell from an input table either in the form of a formula or code to ensure that the most recent data is recorded and reported.
I have created a table in Excel 2010 (pls see attached table named post.xlsx).
Then copied the above table into PowerPoint 2010, using "paste link" (I tried to attach the PowerPoint file but the system says "invalid file type" and I cannot attach it).
I have received income data for another month - the new month is 13 and the corresponding new income is 100. I typed 13 and 100 into the Excel table post.xlsx and thus extended the table by another column.
Then I went back to PowerPoint slide, then right clicked on the table there, then clicked "update link".
The newly-typed column in Excel table is not get updated in PowerPoint table.
I have a macro that is set to clear a range of cells. If I make a change to the worksheet (such as adding a column) that moves those cells in the worksheet, the worksheet formulas update, but the macro cell references do not. How can I make my macro update in accordance with changes in the worksheet?
When I change computers, I have to manually tell each document where to fine the linked document. I want the documents being linked to look for the file path in a designated cell, i.e Cell E3 = "C:UsersOwnerDocuments1-QCDataData Master (QC).xlsm".
Something like ThisWorkbook.UpdateLink Name:=ThisWorkbook.Range("E3").Value
I have made a custom list in Excel 2010 so it auto-increments the alphabet using the auto increment pull down/copy square on the bottom right of a cell in Excel. My question is I have some data in a sheet such as this
600 600 600 600 601 601 601 601 602 602 602
What I want to do is add a letter of the alphabet to the end of these numbers and have the alphabet auto increment based on the data above like this:
I'm trying to auto populate a calender style sheet in Excel 2010 based on data from a Work Schedule sheet. The work schedule sheet contains a list of jobs, with each row representing a different job. There is a column for the start date (e.g. 25/04/14) and a column for the end date (e.g. 26/04/14). There are other columns which select resources such as people and vehicles. Each resource may appear on any one of several columns for each row, e.g. Site Operative 1, Site Operative 2 etc.
On the calendar sheet, in which one cell represents one day (e.g. 25/04/14), all the dates are shown along the top going right and all the resources are shown on the left going down.
On the calender sheet, in every cell I want a formula that will look at the Work Schedule sheet and see if that particular resource is being used on that particular date. If it does, the cell can display information from another cell such as the job number or job name to which the resource is assigned; if it doesn't, the resource isn't being used so it can display "Free" or "Available".
I have excel graphs linked to a power point presentation that runs in a loop and I would like have to the links update everytime slide 1 pops up or when the loop restarts, either one works for me. When I close the looping presentation and reopen it I get a message asking me if I want to update the charts, but I would really prefer the looping presentation to update itself. I know this is going to be a VBA setup, but I cant seem to figure it out. I pasted the links by: pasting special, paste link as microsoft office excel worksheet object.
I have an Excel 2010 workbook that is fairly slow to open (10-15 secs) because it is rather formula heavy. This workbook is opened by quite a few different people every day. What I would like to do is to open the file overnight using windows Task Scheduler and to update the file (using a workbook open event macro) and then for the rest of that day whenever the file is opened the formulas do not update until overnight the next day (and so on and so on).
I thought maybe toggling the Calculation Manual off/on? Would this be the best tactic?
Im trying to use excel as part of an real time display system, what im looking to do is after xx time period import some data (which is fine, I have that bit sorted), then save to as html- (hopefully using excel 07 abilty to repubish data to update the same file with more info).
so far I have found the following code, but could do with a hand to tie it all up!
Code: Public Sub Watchon() State = "Mointoring Folder..." Timerun = Now() + TimeValue("00:10:00") Application.OnTime Timerun, "DetectNewFiles" Userform1.Nextupdate.Caption = ">Next Update will be @: (" & Timerun & ")" With ActiveWorkbook.PublishObjects.Add(xlSourceSheet, _
Code: Sub DetectNewFiles 'Some code to import text files to excel With ActiveWorkbook.PublishObjects("Book1_24990") .Publish (False) .AutoRepublish = True End With
Some code to reset next time update of DetectNewFiles
I have a macro-based employee leave system that works by couting the number of days shaded with a certain colour and thus calculating leave days taken, remaining and entitled... I have a single workbook with multiple sheets for different employees.
However, when I update by using ctrl alt f9, it updates all the other worksheets (ignoring their shading) with the values of the active worksheet! So if I update Peter, who has taken 14 days so far, it will update Liam's sheet too, with 14 days, ignoring Liam's actual shaded days...
How can I update each sheet individually, without compromising the other sheets?
I am having a workbook (say a.xlsm) which has value entry fields and some values are given to another workbook (say b.xlsm) which has some sort of calculations and the result is projected back to the book a. most of the time book b will be closed. I am using Excel 2010.
I opened and saw that the result which is calculated and projected from workbook b is not getting updated. I opened the workbook b and saw that the values I have entered in a has not been updated in b. note that I am opening one book at a time and I do click on update links when I am asked.
I have a quantity - thick/dia - width - length fields used as row labels, I would like each cell to have a border, after each update I get negative results to preserve the cell border formatting. Col b,c,d,e continually lose their cell border formatting after updating the data.

I did try a search before posting this - either I am too stuipid or the info was a bit too cpmplicated and in bits and peices for me to figure out. My query is this Lets say I have a workbook with around 10 sheets in it. and I have a saved a copy of the sheet ias a webpage (HTML ) for user convinence. Now is it possible to somehow ensure that when the orginal workbook is updated then this webpage would also get updated - both would be in the same drive ( I dont want to use internet for this purpose)
I have a graph that is showing the date on "Y" axis and a value on "X" axis, when I add a new date and value to my data the graph does not update, it just shows the data when I first created the graph.
How do I get the graph to display the new data I entered ?
I created a line graph by clicking on the "A" in column "A" (Thats where my date is) then clicking on the "B" in column "B" (Thats where my values are) and clicking the create graph button then clicked finished.
I recently switched to Excel 2010 and have a rather peculiar problem.Every week I update a bunch of charts in different workbooks. By update, I pretty much mean just shifting the range over one column or down one row to incorporate newly added data.
So I right click the chart, select "Select Data", update all the Data series ranges and then I click on the Horizontal (Category) Axis Labels button "Edit" to update the Axis label range.
I do all that then press OK. The data series have updated, but the axis labels haven't. So then I do the procedure again for the Axis Labels, hit OK again and voila: It worked.
But I ALWAYS have to do this procedure twice. It will NEVER update the axis labels the first time around. Even though the little preview window below the edit button show the labels correctly.
consolidating data from 3 worksheets which contain same data fields but each representing 1 brand. I like to have a summary/mastersheet to contain data from all 3 worksheets and then when the data in each worksheet is added or updated, the summary worksheet should reflect the changes (adding new data to the last row).
I was wondering if there was some way to auto update or resync values in data validated lists which are dependant on information in other cells.
I attach my spreadsheet. My list in Cell F32 changes depending on what has been selected in cell F31. However, my problem is that, until you select cell F32, it still keeps the previous value on display, if you know what I mean. So! What I would like to happen, is when I select a different option in cell F31, then I would like cell F32 to update and show the first available option from the new list?
I have found this sales forecasting template from the Microsoft excel template section on the web, however, when i insert the new rows, it does not automatically update the "linked" sheets. It is the "detailed sales pipleline management sheet".
My Excel 2007 has "auto complete with a drop down list". When I type in the first character, a drop down list appears listing all the entries in that column tha start with that character. I click on one of the entries and the cell is "auto completed" with that entry. Sure is handy. I try to find that functionally in Excell at work, Office Professional 2010, and no bueno for kaki.
If I enter the city "Dunn" it auto capitalizes it. If I type my name "mark" in there it doesn't. I don't want it to auto "do" anything. How can I turn it off? I've tried copying into a new book and that didn't work so it doesn't seem to be formula driven. The issue is happening on a coworkers machine, but I cant seem to recreate it on mine. Hers is 2007 while mine is 2010.
I have created a comparison sheet and compares my old one from last week to the new one I create for this week. It populates cells with the differences and shows me the data from the new sheet. But since my they are so massive A5:AZ20,000 I want to create an auto summary or something.
Column A has each properties Unique Identifier And the rest is various info for the property. I would like it to return my unique ID and then the columns with new data that has showed up from the comparison some are text and some are numbers.
I've only recently began to use excel, but I've really dived deep into it, I'm clueless when it comes to VBA but now I'm stepping into that realm. Anyway, I'm using this code....
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)If Not Intersect(Target, Range("A:A")) Is Nothing Then Application.EnableEvents = False Me.Sort.SortFields.Clear Me.Sort.SortFields.Add Key:=Range("A:A"), SortOn:=xlSortOnValues, Order:=xlAscending, DataOption:=xlSortNormal With Me.Sort

Link: auto-sort for excel 2010.... to auto sort 2 columns of data. However, it is extremely tedious to enter data as it sorts itself every time you enter a new data point. Moreover, using any random number generator to fill the columns takes ages! Is there anyway to make it so the code only runs when the worksheet is refreshed (F9 pressed.)
