Excel Has Stopped Adding Numbers When Extending Formula To Adjacent Cells?

Nov 16, 2013

This is what I am using:

=VLOOKUP($A5,TEAM!$B:$MZ,23,FALSE)

When I select the cell formula extension button thing and drag it to the right, the formula copies exactly into the next cell. If I select multiple cells starting from 19-23 and then drag, excel just repeats the formula over, (19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 19, 20...) This is seriously frustrating as I have to click into the formula bar on each cell and change the value of the column lookup.

I can't keep going manually as I need to go to about 300 cells...

Adding Ever Extending Data Based On Conditions

Nov 14, 2008

I work in Local Government and I am recording the contact that we receive for each transaction that are avoidable or unavoidable. This is broken down into service areas.

The data is imported into excel from a database and therefore is constantly growing.

What I want to do it a very basic summary page so that I can group those that are and those that aren't avoidable for each service.

Because the data is ever expanding I would like this on a separate sheet from the actual data.

I attach a sample of the worksheet and would be grateful if someone could advise what formula to use on sheet 2 in cells c4, c5, d4 and d5 to make it do it automatically.

Excel 2010 :: Adding Together Separate Currency Rows Based On Adjacent Column Value?

Dec 30, 2013

I have a spread sheet which totals the amounts in 2 columns D and E, which are pounds and pence. The formulas for each one are:

Pounds

=SUM(D3:D8)+ROUNDDOWN((SUM(E3:E8)/100),0)

Pence

=MOD(SUM(E3:E8),100)

These work very well and give me the correct figures.

What I would like to do is to add up the values of each row based on the criteria of column C and have just one value in ONE cell (as shown on lines 13 & 14), so for instance:

When added together the values of rows 3,4 & 6 are 7.25 (based on a value of "W")When added together the values of rows 7 & 8 are 5.00 (based on a value of "F")

I have tried to show this as an example in the image below:

A
B
C
D
E

I'm using Excel 2010 on Win 7 Pro.

SUMIF/COUNTIF- Several Numbers That Are Contained In Non-adjacent Cells

Jan 9, 2008

I have several numbers that are contained in non-adjacent cells. I need to create a cell that will evaluate the cells individually to make sure that they are within a certain range. Once that is done, I want the remaining numbers that are within the range to be averaged. How the heck can I accomplish this task? SUMIF and COUNTIF will not allow me to use non-adjacent cell ranges.

Keyboard Stopped Working In Excel

Apr 18, 2012

I have been working on a workbook, and all of a sudden, my keyboard no longer worked in Excel. No shortcuts, no CTRL+C, no CTRL+V, no CTRL+S, no CTRL+A, no F12 to save, no letters, no numbers.... The only button that is working is my ALT key, and I use the other letter keys just fine to navigate after pressing ALT.... But that's it!

I have still been able to work on it because I can still write in Word, and I can still write more code in the Visual Basic window, and I can still click the buttons I create under the Developer... but it's still frustrating to not be able to type a thing in any of the cells, formula bar, or be able to use any of the shortcuts. And now when I tried to close it, I can still select everything else, and I can close this workbook, but it won't close Excel.

IF, WHEN Formula? (say Plane Has Stopped)

Nov 24, 2009

I have a list of 500 values calculating when a plane will stop on a carrier deck, i have IF formulas for each row saying whether the plane has stopped or is slowing. At some point the plane stops then this column reads "stopped". However i would like to see when this point is without having to scroll down 400 rows to find where this column changes, basically i want this:

=IF(L8="Stopped",D8,IF(L9="Stopped",D9,IF(..... 500 times over, however this wont fit in the box!.

What i need is a cell that says when the force stopping the plane is greater/equal to the total energy of the plane, the plane has stopped.

Excel 2007 :: Sumif Command Adding 2 Different Part Numbers Together?

Apr 10, 2013

I have a Excel 2007 spreadsheet of part numbers and quantities sold. In the spreadsheet we have similar part numbers, but my sumif command is adding these together. the parts are :

0124225031
R124225031

My column of part numbers is formatted as text

My formula is this =SUMIF(Sheet1!H:H,A16,Sheet1!Q:Q) where H is the part number and Q is the quanity

I tried adding a format command in the sumif command, but it returned a 0. =SUMIF(Sheet1!H:H,format(A16,"0"),Sheet1!Q:Q)

better formula and why is excel adding different part numbers together?

Excel 2010 :: Stopped Working When Building Charts?

Jan 15, 2013

I'm working on a macro that does the following:

1. Pull data from the internet
2. Perform calculations on the data
3. Graph the calculated values

- As I run the macro, Excel dies in step 3, where I graph the calculated values.
- It works about 5% of the time and gives me the "Excel has stopped working" error 95% of the time - I can't isolate any difference in the attempts
- I've located the area in the macro where it dies, but I can't identify the exact line since it seems to shift around in this area
- It works perfectly fine when I step through using F8
- I've attempted DoEvents and Application.Wait to debug. Application.Wait for 5 seconds allows the macro to work about 50% of the time and increases in efficiency the longer I wait
- Steps 1 and 2 work perfectly fine (I've used that code in many macros), so I'm pretty sure the issue is in the below code:

I'm running Windows 7, Office 2010

Code:
'Chart variables
Sheets("Summary").Select
Dim ChartRange As Range

I can use the MID worksheet function to separate my numbers from my letters on a row-by-row basis, but I can't work out how to do the whole thing in one fell swoop. =SUM(MID(A1:A10,2,2)) doesn't work, for example.

Formulas Referencing Cells Stopped Working

Aug 11, 2009

I made a spread sheet last year that used various COUNTIF formulas that referenced other cells. =COUNTIF(I40:ER40,"A") It worked perfect.

I copied that spreadsheet to use for this year. I cannot get this formula to work. I have reentered in various locations and forms, but to no avail. If I enter the data and then enter the formula, it works.

However, if I enter the formula first and then enter the data (which I will do over the course of the year) it does not work. I even tried to reconstruct all of this in a brand new spread sheet and it still is not working, although last year's spread sheet still works.

A Formula That Searches A Range And Gives The Sums Of The Adjacent Cells!??

Jun 23, 2009

I am looking for a formula that searches a range of data and then returns the sum of the numeric values in the adjacent cells. I have a calendar style spreadsheet with 2 columns for each day. In the first column it has a list of names and the second column a number.

I would like a cell to return the sum of the numeric values next to each name. All the names are entered into the columns randomly and are unorganised. The same name will appear multiple times in the range and have different numbers next to it each time. I am currently using (for example) =COUNTIF(H6:AL14,"bob") to tally up the number of "bobs" but really what i want to do is find a formula that in plain english does:

Search a range of columns and where cell = "bob" take the value of the adjacent cell (to the right) and total them up!

i have attached an image - i hope it makes sense what i'm trying to do - i would like Q3 to total up the numbers to the right of all "bobs" across all the days - so it should return 42

so in the above example I need to sum all ending at 1244 or 1519, therefore the sum showed in the single cell equals 225

to extract from a single cell: =VALUE(RIGHT(D8;4))

I tried to use an array formula but it seems to crash if a blank cell is in the array

Copy Non-adjacent Cells In A Row From One Spreadsheet To Adjacent Rows In Another

Jan 5, 2014

I have a workbook with 30 worksheets. Each sheet has 84 rows of data (start in 15 columns (A to O). I would like to create a summary sheet that only shows the most important data from each sheet.

The summary sheet would have 12 lines of headers and formatted crap at the top.
The Summary sheet header columns would be:

Site (A), Date (B) Health (C), Status (D), Critical (E), Task (F),
Dependencies (G), Owner (H), T-Date (I), Task Date (J), Mitigation Date (I)

The data in the sheets are not in that order, of course.

That
1. puts the name of the sheet I am copying from in column A
2. the deadline date in Column B (that date is always in C10 of each worksheet)
3. and copies Cells from Column A,B,G,H,I,O in any row in which the value in A is not "good" into columns C through H. I would like to paste those rows into the summary sheet. I have code that loops through the sheets and rows in each sheet to find the rows to copy. I can copy cell values directly from the active sheet to the summary sheet, but because I am copying a cell at a time, it takes 7 minutes. Yes I am impatient :)

Here is the code snippet where the copying is done:

Dim sh As Worksheet 'current worksheet
Dim DestSh As Worksheet 'worksheet in which to paste summary
Dim Last As Long
Dim CopyRow As Long 'row to copy
Dim LastCopyRow As Long

[Code] ........

ExitTheSub:

Application.Goto Sheets("KMARollup").Cells(1)
End Sub

I think there must be a way to use ranges to build an array of cell values and paste only once but I am lost here.
