I have a cell with data such as: a0001-0004, a12, C8AF7-8, b17, j35-40 and i want it to output in the same cell(basically write-over the data): a0001, a0002, a0003, a0004, a12, C8AF7,C8AF8, b17, j35, j36, j37, j38, j39, j40.
View 4 RepliesI am trying to read a value in cell A1 and make say cell B1 read the same. The data in cell A1 is a real time percentage value that gets updated every lets say 10 secs. Every time the data is updated the new value goes into the next cell A2, A3, A4..... and so on. Every time it gets updated (i.e into A1,A2,A3,A4.....and so on), I want to read the new value each time in B1.

M1314LAND00001 through to M1314LAND0XXXX
M1314CUST00001 through to M1314CUST0XXXX

These unique identifiers won't always appear in sequentiual order. In Cells B2 to M2, I want to be able to determine what the next entry for each of the twelve variations will be, so for example, if the current highest value in column A for the 'S1314LAND' range S131400421, in cell K2, I would want it to display S1314LAND00422, and if the current highest value in column A for the 'M1314CUST' range M1314CUST0036, I would want cell C2 to display M1314CUST0037, so anyone at a glance can see the next highest unique reference for the relevant set, rather than having to go through the unique identifiers in column A manually to determine the next entry in the series.
I'm not really sure where to start, when there can be more than one aplhanumeric entries ending in the same number, e.g. S1314CUST00500 and M1314LAND00500.

If D8 is greater than 9000 and less than 9999 then the entry will be 35 rather than 30. Any other entry in D8 would leave it at 30
I would like to know if there is a way to expand the selection of cells from the current cell you are on to the very bottom cell available in the spreadsheet.
For example, I want to apply a formula from A12 - the very last A cell row in the spreadsheet.
I have an index of 80,000 names from an index. Some names appear in multiple volumes and on multiple pages within a volume. While the name is the same, they are different people. The Roman numeral is the volume and the numeric is the page number.

I have separated the data into separate columns. Now I have:
Col 1 Col 2 Col 3 Col 4 Col 5 Col 6
Joe Shmoe V-225 310 VIII-22 86 110
At this point, I want to combine the Roman numeral in Col 2 with Col 3 and 4 and combine the Roman numeral in Col 4 with Col 5 and 6.
There are way too many records for me to manually enter the Roman numeral where missing.

Spreadsheet works great, but I've realized that I should have expanded beyond the 1st 1000 cells (example: $1000). One book 1, my data entry will extend beyond row 1000.
Is there a way I can replace all $1000's on the spreadsheet with say $3000 without having to correct each of the 300 cells separately?

Copy Active cell (columnB), next cell (ColumnC), next cell (ColumnI), next cell (ColumnO) all of which exist in the same row.
I will then paste the values into another sheet in the next available row which i think i have mastered. the cells will be pasted next to each other i.e. instead of column B,C,I,O they will be pasted as column A,B,C,D.
My dilema is i am not sure if you can use multiple cell offsets to perform this or if it is better to use a loop.
I have some working code that makes a number of changes to an excel report using VBA. Each time I execute the code I am taken to a different point in the excel report (depending on user inputs). What I now need to do is to change the cell selection from a single cell to three cells.
For example, my code may result in cell B100 being the active cell. What I now want to do is change the selection from B100 to the range B100:B103. I would have thought I could write something simple like:

I have a workbook containing two worksheets - Sheet 1 being my "data entry sheet" and Sheet 2 is a sort of summary report containing multiple named ranges (all grouped according to similar values in a cell i.e. all cells containing 1-1 is named GRP1, all cells containig 1-2 is named GRP2). I have a spreadsheet with a master front page, which basically copies the contents of other cells in other sheets for it's own content. ie:-
the formula in cell E16 on the master sheet is ='Sheet 7'!$B$16 (Please note that cell B16 is actually a merged range of B16 to H16)
Everything works fine until such time as the orginal cell contains an amount of text which is deeper than the cell on the master page eg cell B16 on sheet 7 is 330 pixels deep while the cell E16 in the master sheet is only 16 pixels deep.
What I would like to happen is for row 16 in the master sheet to expand in depth by whatever is requried to automatically show the full content of B16 on sheet 7.
The following code expands a cell width to size 42 when it is clicked on, then minimises it to size 9.29 when clicked elsewhere. Just what I need.
For instance, this would work for column 4.

I have a set of text strings that have some number of alpha characters followed by some number of numeric characters. I need to separate the data into two cells.
Example in A1-A5

I've got a worksheet here that i need to update every week. The problem i'm having is that i have a table of values that's drawing values in from another larger table. For example in B9 the cell is referenceing the I2 cell in another sheet. When i pull down the formula in B9 i want the cell below to reference J2 and so on. In other words, I only want the alpha characters to increment. Tried messing around with dollar signs but it doesn't seem to be doing what i want.

However, I need to modify the UDF to count all the cells in a range in columns C:Z that contain alpha, AND IF the Interior.ColorIndex of a cell in column B within the same row of the counting formula equals the Interior.ColorIndex of a cell in column B within the same row of the selected cell in the range.
Basically, Column B is a header row, and I want to count the cells in a range in each column C:Z if they contain a name AND their corresponding header cell's color in column B matches the color of the header cell in the row containing the formula.
I have a string of letters in cell column L20 through L3019.
The letters are A, B, C, and R . No other letters.
I wanted to find out if it is possible to remove any duplicates when starting in cell L20 going downward.
For example:

I need to match data in cell A to cell B and then if they equal I need to copy the adjacent cell C to cell X . How do I set up a macro to do this automatically? I have over 5000 cells to compare and match up.. I have Office 2003.

I have a log where I'm recording daily readings of a pipette. Each day three readings are taken and I have each stored as a dynamic range so that I can monitor how in control my process is. However, when I graph it, I would like it to be one continuous line graph (Three readings from day one followed by three readings from day two, etc.). View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an XY chart that I would like to have the user select a single data point in the chart and be able to add a comment in a table corresponding to that point. For example: if the x-values are in A1:A10, y-values are in B1:B10, the user can select a point, say the 4th point, have some code run that will enter a text string into cell C4. I can manage the code to add the text to the appropriate location, but I'm having trouble with 2 things.
First, how can I ensure that the user has selected a single point (as opposed to the entire series or the chart background)?
And second, how can I determine which point is selected? I think I need to determine the point's item number in the SeriesCollection, then offset that number of rows in my data table. But I can't find a way to retrieve that number.
I have a range of cells each containing a name. Based on a number that has to be entered manually I want excel to return the names concatenated in one cell. So for example:

Should give me: "q9001 q9002 q9003 q9004 q9005"
I have been trying to work with formulas using IF and CONCAT functions. But so far I haven't figured out how to have excel return me the correct amount of variables for each separate number that can be entered seeing the number of variables entered can vary from 1 up to 50.

I Want users to be able to copy a reference number from a an external program into excel, this works well for single cells but the cell I want them to be able to paste the information into is a merged cell and keep getting the "Data on the clipboard is not the same size and shape blah blah error". What I can do to get this information to paste? Is there some VBA that can kinda trick the cell to believe its single or when pasting it unmerges and then remerges again?
