Excel 2010 :: Return Range Of Cell Concatenated Based On Single Cell Value
Jul 2, 2012
I have a range of cells each containing a name. Based on a number that has to be entered manually I want excel to return the names concatenated in one cell. So for example:
Number of variable entered: 5
q9001
q9002
q9003
q9004
q9005
q9006
etc.
Should give me: "q9001 q9002 q9003 q9004 q9005"
I have been trying to work with formulas using IF and CONCAT functions. But so far I haven't figured out how to have excel return me the correct amount of variables for each separate number that can be entered seeing the number of variables entered can vary from 1 up to 50.
I am creating a template in Excel 2010 and am having some issues due to a combination of positive and negative values. Specifically, I have a named range of values that can have either a positive or negative deviation from zero. I need to return the value that has the greatest deviation from zero (either + or -) based on criteria in another named range I have used the following array formula with success for the "Y" range: {=IF(PRB=M1,INDEX(Y,MATCH(MAX(ABS(Y)),ABS(Y),0)),MAX(Y))}
However, if there are not any negative values, as in the "Z" range, it only returns MAX(Z) for the entire range, when I would like ti to return "0.00134" (the largest deviation from zero based on the PRB range criterai. Would this be better accomplished using VBA?
how to apply conditional formatting via VBA to a range of cells based on input from another range of cells. Obviously this would be easy in Excel 2010, but I'm still using 2003 at the office and it needs to stay in this format to be readable by other users:
For cells M8:EK8, my conditional formatting condition 2: Formula Is =AND($E$8>=M2,(($E$8-$D$8)>=(N2-$M$2))), color index is 40 condition 3: Formula Is =AND($F$8<=M2,$G$8>=M2), color index is 39 I want to add: condition 4: Formula Is =AND($H$8<=M2,$I$8>=M2), color index is 40 condition 5: Formula Is =AND($J$8<=M2,$K$8>=M2), color index is 39 and so on
The cells in the range M8:EK8 are blank, they only get colored based on input added to D8 to K8. If there is no input, then the cells should be uncolored.
Is there a way to create a macro to color code a cell based on the value in a cell, and then look up a value in a table, then color code it based on where it fits into the table?
I have a table of values for about 30 projects. In column g - there is a CPI value (see bold column)
Example: Project ID Name Program PMT SI ID AC Milestone TCP Level [Code] ......
Here is the table:
I have to color code a cell, base on the CPI and how it fits into the table below. So if the current Milestone is M2 or M3 and the CPI calculated is .14 the cell would be colored RED, if the CPI number is 2.01 for M2-M3 I would want cell to be colored Turquiose. If we were at Milestone M6 and the CPI was 2.01, it would be colored blue. If the CPI was .75 at Milestone M5, it would be colored Green
What I'm trying to do is, create a formula that works like vlookup, except I want to return the value of the cell that is a specified number of cells below the looked-up data in a single column array. So, let's say cell A1 reads "Bacon". In B1, I'd like to put a formula which searches the array for the cell that contains "Bacon" and then returns the value of the cell underneath, let's say the value is "Eggs". Then in C1, I'd like to put another formula which also looks up "Bacon" in the array, then returns the value of the cell that is down two cells from the cell that contains "Bacon", let's say the value is "Milk". And then in D1, a formula that returns the value 3 cells below "Bacon", and so on. All the values here will be text, and not sorted in any specific order. I'll be using Excel 2010.
Please take a look at the attached sheet if it clarifies things.
I have a list of ID's on one sheet that are also located in a large matrix on another sheet.
This macro uses the Find_Range function to find each ID within the matrix and return the column header where the ID was first located. There is also a line which return a list of ranges, indicating all the places where the ID was found.
What I want is to convert the list of ranges into a list of corresponding column headers (ie row 1 of all columns in the range)
' Number of id's in list RowCnt = Application.WorksheetFunction. CountA(Columns("A"))
For I = 2 To RowCnt
LookFor = Sheets("ID List").Range("A" & I) Set InRng = Sheets("Matrix").Cells Set Found = Find_Range(LookFor, InRng, xlValues, xlWhole) On Error Resume Next ' If value is not found Sheets("RateID Count").Range("C" & I) = Sheets("Matrix") _ .Cells(1, Range(Found.Address).Column) ' Return column header Sheets("ID List").Range("D" & I) = Found.Address(False, False) ' Return cell address or range of addresses On Error Goto 0
I'm using Excel 2010 and I'm having troubles displaying hiding my column B if none of the cells of column A contains either "(Quasi Echec)" or "(Quasi Russite)" at least once.
PHP Code: [URL] ......
Below are my 3 attempts.
Code: Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range) Dim c As Range If Target.Column 1 Then Exit Sub Application.EnableEvents = False On Error Resume Next
[Code] ..........
Code: Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range)
Sub GetUniquesInColA() Dim rng As Range Dim c If Target.Column 1 Then Exit Sub On Error Resume Next
[Code] .........
Code: Option ExplicitPrivate Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range) Dim x As Long Dim LastRow As Long LastRow = Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row
At work, we've got a program that outputs the results of a search into an Excel file, in column 1 below.
17,43,61,63 17 43 61 63
23,29,53,57,77,79 23 29 53 57 77 79
17,29,63,69,71,75,79 17 29 63 69 71 75 79
11,43 11 43
57 57
I need to get that list of numbers listed out to the right, with one number per cell. The list in column one could possibly contain from 1 to 20 numbers, and the last number is always without the comma after it.
I have charts that I have to update at work, and I want to make it as fast of a process as possible. Here is an example of what I want to do.
I want to put the letter B in cell 1, then the number 23 in cell 2. I then want to concatenate those two strings, which I can do. I end up with cell 3 which says B23. I then want cell 4 to to be the value of cell B23. If the B23 in cell 3 changes to C11, I want cell 4 to be the value of cell C11.
I would use an IF(x,x,x), but I want to to take into account the fact that it could be any cell on the whole sheet which would be one hell of a nested IF statement.
I have an Excel 2010 spreadsheet consisting of many worksheets (20 or so). Each of these worksheets contain detail level data regarding different projects. One of the columns in these worksheets is the 'Status' column (column F). There is conditional formatting on this column where if the text is 'G' then change background to a green color, 'Y'=yellow, 'R'=Red and 'U'=Grey.
The first worksheet is a summary sheet that I would like to pull information from each of the detail worksheet's columns B, D, E, G and H if the status column (Column F) is 'R' or 'Y'.
The number of rows in the detail worksheet can change each week (as few as 0 and as many as 100)
Formula that will repeat a cell number as it drags down and as soon as the number changes. I am using helper column that shows the cell number. I need to drag this down about 1000 rows.
In Column A each cell will contain a date (differnet from other cells in that column) when inspection was last done.
Column B is when the weekly inspection is due. Column C is when bi-weekly inspection is due. Column D is when monthly inspection is due. Column E is when 6 monthly inspection is due.
I need a formula to change the colour of cells B, C, D & E when each inspection is due depending on the date entered in A
I am hoping its possible that the cell colour can stay for 2 days after the due date and then return back to blank after the second day.
For example if cell A1 has a date of January 1 2013 then on January 8 2013 cell B1 turns red then on January 10 2013 the cell returns back to normal.
A1 B1 C1 D1 E1
Inspection Date Weeekly Due Bi-WeeklyDue Monthly Due 6 Monthly Due
January 1 2013 Change red Jan 8 & return blank Jan 10 Change red Jan 15 & return blank Jan 17 Change red Feb 1 & return blank Feb 3 Change red June 1 & return blank June 3
I need to display a set of cells based on the value of two drop down cells i have. As I am not very good at english and worse at explinations, I'll try via screen shots...
I have two dropdowns (C4 and C6) that will indicate what table to use (Second sheet / screenshot). I want that "table" to display in the yellow box on the first page. To complicate matters, some options do not have a CLA option - those starting with X. As there are 24 different outcomes and each is 3x9 if/then statements just dont seem to cut it.
(I am using Excel version 14.0.7106 and MS Office Professional 2010.)
I have a macro in which I have named a range of numbers in a spreadsheet, used the "find" function to find a particular number in that range, and now would like to copy some information into a cell in the same row as the found number. However, when I try to move over to the cell that I'm copying to, it only goes to the 1st row in the range that I have defined.
Here's the portion of code I think you need to see. Everything works...it finds a match...but then I don't know what to do from there to get the information to the correct row:
'Grab the 1st project number Range("C8").Select Do Until ActiveCell.Value = "" If ActiveCell.Value "" Then prjnum = ActiveCell.Value Selection.Offset(0, 8).Select
Is there a way in Excel (2010) to lock data from being entered into cells based on the value in another cell? Here is an example:
Row 4 contains dates from 2015-2030 as a header starting at column C (C4 and on) that represents years of revenue. Column B contains dates as well, this date can be any year but this becomes the driver for the data input in columns C through X. Column B contains the "Delivery Date"
Data is input in Columns C and so forth. The issue becomes that let's say that the date in C4 is 2016 and this is the beginning year. Obviously there should be no inputs for 2015 (C5) and the data should start to be input for this year at 2016 (C6). Often people just begin filling in the first available year not looking at what the year actually is.
Is there a way to add a formula or some logic/protection to prevent inputs in previous rows based on the values in column B? So if the value in column B is XXXX than there can be no inputs in cells less than that value?
I am using 2010 and want to select a range starting at the same cell all of the time (regardless of whether or not it has contents - so let's say B7. Starting at B7, I want the range to include all of the columns starting at B and go to the end of all of the columns. Then I want the range to include all of the rows starting at B7 and end at the last row. I will eventually copy this range and paste it on another worksheet start on a specific cell of another worksheet. (Perhaps, we can add a name to this range).
I deal with a rather large excel database (the range is A1:AV168266) that contains customer information. Some of these various customers are affiliated with a group called "ascend" and I need to be able to filter all my list by every customer affilliated with Ascend. The trouble is that the word "ascend" can appear in 8 different columns and usually when it appears in one column it doesn't appear in the others and their can also be more text in the cell beyond the word "ascend". I want to create a formula that will simply look for the word "ascend" in any cell of a row and return a result I can filter by. I will be putting the formula in column AW and put it in all 170,000 rows of that column, that way I can just filter by a single column.
I've played around with combining COUNTIF with SEARCH and MATCH with SEARCH but nothing seems to work.
I am working in excel 2010. I have a tracking document that lists free tickets and their expiry dates. In the adjacent columns we track redemption details of these free tickets. What I want to do is return the oldest expiration date from A only if the ticket has not been used (i.e. B is empty). This will allow me to see the date the upcoming tickets about to expire so we can make sure they are used.
A________________B Expiry Date________Redeemed by 15/08/2014 15/02/2014 15/08/2014________John 15/02/2010________Marc 15/02/2011________Bob
I have a single column of numerical values that may repeat many times within the column.
I require a flexible Formula: Use an Input Cell for the specified and changeable Percentage(s) %. Column may be filtered so only take into account Visible Filtered Cells.
The Formula will calculate and Return the numerical range of values that fall between the specified percentage % (using the Input Cell) e.g.; 70%.
The Formula should Return two numeric values: a Start Value and an End Value NOT necessarily the minimum and maximum per se BUT the MIN and MAX of the values that appear 70% of the time in the column; therefore, taking into account Repeat / Duplicate values.
The calculated Results: the two numeric values will be returned to separate cells on a new Sheet.
I'm trying to make a macro in Excel 2003 to create x amount of named worksheets that are a copy of a different worksheet.
1. I have a main worksheet that will have a number manually entered into a cell (lets say A1); 2. I have a 'template' worksheet; 3. I'll assign the macro to a button on the main worksheet
If I enter '10' into cell A1 of the main worksheet, I'd like to click the button and have Excel create 10 copies of the template worksheet. These new worksheets should all share the same name with a number after them (ex: banana 1, banana 2..... banana 10).
I am using Excel 2010 and trying to change/edit the color of the tabs in my workbook to turn green or red based on a y or n placed in a cell (the same cell on each tab). I have tried variations on several themes others have asked about as well for Excel 2007 and attempted to adapt them to fit my situation but none seem to work. Here's what I was starting with:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Select Case Range("A1").Value Case Is < 2.5 Sheet1.Tab.Color = vbRed Case Is > 2. 5, Is < 4 Sheet1.Tab.Color = vbGreen End Select End Sub
The cell I'm using is F2 and my cell value is simply y or n. I realize the example above references numeric values and greater than/less than options, but I'm not sure how to correct this for my need.
I have a massive spreadsheet (ca.110 000 rows [excel 2010). I need to cut this monster by deleting all the cells that do not have a certain cell value within them.
Say that in my column A there are different entries (text type). I would like to delete the ones that do not match the following criteria:
"mytextascriteria*", where * somehow stands for the rest of the string.
Strictly speaking I can only determine beggining of the string I want to perserve but the values at the end of that string are changing.
I found the thread about deleting entire row based on a cell value here: Delete entire row based on one cell?
but I couldn't quite work out how to apply it in my scenario....
Otherwise is completely pointless to do it manualy with these amout of records.
I'm trying to delete a range of rows based on the value of a given cell. For example, if cell AC1 shows 5000, then I'd like to delete (not just clear) the range A5000:AA1048576. Or, if cell AC1 shows 10000, then I'd like to delete range A10000:AA1048576. I've come up with what is below but I don't think this is the right way to do it. I am using Excel 2010.
I want the formula to count the different numbers in the second column based on the first column. The results should show, 972 equals 3, 214 equals 1, 765 equals 2.
I am trying to separate this out but it keeps putting this paragraph.
My excel sheet keeps a list of Email addresses on column B (with duplicate email addresses), and their particulars from column C (Item price, purchase date, etc) onwards.
I need the vba to email multiple recipients (those with the "notification" field marked as yes) with their purchasing details in it. It should also prevent multiple emails to the same email address.
