## Find A Group Of Unique Rows- Find Non-zero Value In A Column - Fill Column With That Value?

May 27, 2014

There are groups of similar ID numbers in Column J. For a group of similar ID numbers in consecutive rows there is only one row that has a number greater than 0 in its Column L cell and the rest of the cells of Column L for that set of similar IDs is filled with 0s.

First for that unique ID group I need to find out which row is it that has a value greater than zero in its Column L cell.

Then I need to use that value to fill the rest of the 0s in Column L corresponding to that set of Unique IDs.

The process continues with identifying similar IDs in Column J and this time doing the same thing for their Column M. I have attached a sample file that shows the data and how the results need to look like.

## Unique Trace Code (multiple Column Criteria)

Aug 20, 2013

I have a challenge I haven't quite been able to figure out:

I need a 6 digit trace code to be automatically generated for each job based on the date, the product type and the job number.

The first 2 digits on the trace-code are alphanumeric and the sequence for each job is AA, AB, AC etc.

The last 4 digits are a date code (YYWW.... two digits for the year and two digits for the week number).

The criteria is that multiple jobs of the same product type within the same work week must not have identical trace codes. So Job 1 gets "AA" plus the date code... Job 2 gets "AB" plus the date code, etc. If Job 3 is done in the next work week, it cycles back to "AA" and gets the new date-code.

Generating the date-code was simple enough, but coming up with a function or rule to assign the two-digit alpha has been a challenge that I have not been able to beat.

Below is an example of how the Trace-code column should work....note that Trace code on one product type might be identical to the trace code on another product type.

## VBA Code To Find Date In Column A And Enter Data In Cells On Same Row

Dec 26, 2013

I have a spreadsheet where a date is entered in column A with data in B-F. I am trying to write code to look in column A for a specific date and enter additional data into columns G-L on the same row. It needs to be able to skip the rows that are blank. So I have the dates of 12/1, 12/2 and 12/3 in column A rows 1,2 and 3 and I want to enter data for 12/2 on row 2 skipping the blank cells in row 1 for 12/1. Here is the code I have below.

Dim r As Variant
Dim l As Long
sFind = DockDoorCal.Value
If Trim(sFind) = "" Then Exit Sub

## Find Text/Value & Use Found Cell, Row, Column In Macro Code

May 10, 2008

I am trying to clean up and simplify my macros by compartmentalizing frequently repeated commands. I like to search for text in column headings and define the cell containing it as a range that I can later use .column or .row commands on, so my macros are a bit more flexible. The code I currently use for this is

Dim XColumn As Range ‘the cell containing the text “X”
Cells.Select
Selection.Find(What:="X", After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlFormulas, _
LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, _
MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False).Activate
Set XColumn = ActiveCell

I would like to be able to create a Macro (possibly name FindSetCell()) that will accept arguments and achieve the results of the above code in other macros
I think the command might look something like FindSetCell(“text to be searched for”,”name of newly Defined Range”) But I have not figured out how to code it

## How To Find 3rd Unique Value

Dec 29, 2009

I am using excel 2007.

I am trying to find the sum of unique entries in a table such as below for each respective date.

DateClient1/01/2010ABN1/01/2010ABN2/01/2010BNP2/01/2010HSBC3/01/2010ABN4/01/2010BNP4/01/2010HSBC4/01/2010ABN5/01/2010BHP

The results should appear as

Count Unique1/01/201012/01/201023/01/201014/01/201035/01/20101

## Apply Formula In New Column That Pulls Unique Values From Another Column?

Apr 24, 2014

see the attached spreadsheet including the data. In Column AA I have created a formula that looks at Column B, and pulls each unique value from that column. add to this formula, or propose a new one, that pulls unique values into column AA if at least one of the rows has an "Actual Finalization Date" in column D that is in 2014?

## Formula That Counts Unique Dates In Column Based On Another Column Value?

Jan 8, 2014

How would I count unique dates associated with another specific value on a worksheet?

For instance, Lets say I want to count each day a particular person makes a sale.

Example:

Sales PersonSale IDSales Date
Don 1001/6/2014
Don 1401/7/2014
Don 1601/8/2014
Jack 1011/6/2014
Jack 1021/6/2014
Mike 901/5/2014
Mike 1031/6/2014

So on another worksheet, I'd have:

Sales Person Days with Sale
Don 3
Jack 1
Mike 2

The Formula would go into the "Days with Sale" Column.

## Capture Unique Values From 1 Column And Populate The Result Into Another Column

Aug 28, 2009

I have values in COlumn A, probably about 50K rows, The total unique values on the column A is only about 27. I need to capture all those unique values and paste them in column B. I didn't want to do "Advance filtering" since the workbook has many macros's on it that the user simply click on. Im thingking of creating a loop and compare values already pasted in Column b but then that will take too much time to complete the loop. Is there any easier or yet more efficient way to accomplish this?.

## Count Unique Frequencies Column A For Pacific Values Column B

Dec 19, 2010

I would need to count unique frequencies in column A, but only for a specified value in column B.

Example:

A|B
1|1
1|1
1|1
2|1
2|1
2|2
2|2
3|2
3|2

I am using Excel 2007 and found this formula that counts all unique frequencies in column A: =SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(A2:A10,A2:A10)>0,1))

In my example, result = 3 Now, I would need to add the possibility to count only for B=1; in my example, result should be = 2.

## Selecting Unique Column Items Into Seperate Worksheet From Column

May 19, 2006

In the attached file, details sheet contains multiple instances of project with associated costs for each of 2006, 2007 and 2008. What I need is a formula (preferably) or a VBA that select distinct project names and populate column B of summary sheet so I can do a sum if. The problem is the project names changes dynamically every week and they are practically in hundreds.

## Find And Count Unique Values

Jun 24, 2009

## Lookup - Trying To Find First Unique Value Based

Oct 28, 2007

I have scoured the Excel boards but cannot find what I am looking for. Need to do a formula approach (No Pivot Table) lookup on a dynamic table that is not necessarily in order and may have blanks in some cells or whole rows. What I would like Excel 2003 to do is report (extract) the all first occurrences of each organization number that has at least one person with a "Yes" in a corresponding column in the same row. I also need the number of persons that have "Yeses" in each of those identified Org Nos .

Data is laid out as such:

Org No. Name Not in Compliance
8631Steve Yes
8631David
8631Nick
8631Tom
8631Susan Yes
8701Peter Yes
8701Diane Yes
8701Mary Yes
8879Don
8879Bernie
8879Wayne
8900David Yes

In one row list the org #'s not in compliance ("Yes"). In the row just below it the number of persons:

86318701 8900
2 3 1

I have a helper column that counts the number of unique org nos, but cannot tie that to those that have Yes in the other column.

In column before Org No i have =IF(COUNTIF(b\$33:b34,b34)=1,MAX(a\$33:a33)+1,"") copied down.

## Find/Return Unique Data

Aug 14, 2006

sheet 1 and sheet 2
in sheet 1 i have suppouse following data

Name-- Prod. --value --year

-- a -- 24 -- 100 -- 2004

-- b -- 26 -- 240 -- 2004

-- a -- 33 -- 120 -- 2004

-- a -- 21 -- 200 -- 2004

-- c -- 26 -- 240 -- 2004

-- b -- 33 -- 120 -- 2004
-- d -- 24 -- 100 -- 2004

in sheet 2

Name -- Prod. -- value -- year

-- a -- 24 -- 100 -- 2005
-- d -- 26 -- 240 -- 2005
-- a -- 33 -- 120 -- 2005
-- e -- 26 -- 240 -- 2005
-- a -- 21 -- 200 -- 2005
-- c -- 26 -- 240 -- 2005
-- d -- 24 -- 100 -- 2005

in this situation i want to find out the dropouts of sheet 1. (that persons which are not present the sheet 2)
how can i compare these sheets?
in this case i want the result as

-- Name -- Prod. -- value -- Year
-- b -- 26 -- 240 -- 2004
-- b -- 33 -- 120 -- 2004

## Find Unique Value In Lookup Table

Nov 28, 2007

Index Match lookup formula does not find valid entries that exist in the lookup table. Formula: =INDEX(tbl_Costs,MATCH( F8,tbl_Costs_PN,0),MATCH("Cost",tbl_Costs_hdngs,0)). I've verified that the matching criteria and values are, in fact, in the table and have made double sure that all cells are formatted the same. the attached file and show me the error of my ways.
