Copy Matching Data & Heading Between Worksheets
Mar 11, 2008I have to write a macro that will copy the values of 'Items' in 'worksheet 2' to 'Items' in 'worksheet 1' ONLY when the 'Title' value is matching in both worksheets AND the value of ' Heading' in worksheet 2 is 'Entry1'.
Example:
Worksheet 1:
Title |Items
David
Bill
John
Worksheet 2:
Title |Items |Heading
David |A, B, C |Entry1
David |A, B |Entry2

From the above data, I want the macro to compare 'Worksheet 1' with 'Worksheet 2' and only copy the 'Items' that have a matching 'Title' AND a 'Heading 1' value of 'Entry1'
So the final result should be:

John |G, H, J
I have seen examples of compare used but not sure how to apply it to my case.
Move Whole Column To New Sheet Based On Heading Matching?

Column Heading example "Capital Balance February 2013......next Column over is "Capital Balance March 2013"
Each new month I need to add a new Expense Ratio column after the most recent expense ratio Column. (i.e. Find "Expense Ratio March 2013" and I need to add a column after that with heading "Expense Ratio April 2013"
Same thing for Capital Balance - add a new Capital Balance column after the most recent Capital Balance Column. (i.e. Find "Capital Balance March 2013" and I need to add a column after that for "Expense Ratio April 2013"
Because the ranges keep changing month over month, how do i do this.

Jan 28, 2014I am an inventory specialist for a dish network company and as such I track inventory in and out of technicians vans, both serialized and not. I've done a great deal of work updating a broken excel sheet they use so that it functions again but I didn't build it. I've learned a lot but I'm only self taught with Excel and had never even heard of VBA code until I dived into this project. It's a huge puzzle and is now my "baby".
Anyway, basically I have one sheet that has a list of all the items I need to keep track of. One section of this Sheet1 I've designed to have cells with dependent drop down lists that are Named Ranges on Sheet2. The tech can choose item A B or C in the first dropdown box and then the next cell shows only the serial numbers from the named range on Sheet2 of A B or C. (Was that english?)
Since the receiver comes out of the techs van once its used I want to figure out a way to delete the serial number that the tech has chosen without deleting the row or cell, just the value in it so that it can then have another serial number typed in. How can I do that?
Also, since I'm here, my 2nd drop down list seems to always start scrolled down and I have to scroll up to see my serial numbers. Why is that? The receiver list starts at the top but the dependent one doesn't...

Macro To Find Matching Text In A Range And Select Specific Cell
Oct 18, 2013I have a client list in a table in my excel sheet. I currently enter the clients in a sheet that looks similar to a form. After the clients info is in this Form I have a button with a macro to copy the client info into a table on another sheet. This works perfectly.
Now I have another form that will retrieve the customers info in a click of a button in order to make changes to the client. Ei:I now have a second phone number and I want to update that client's info. What I want to do from here is take the info in Cell B2 (clients full Name), Do a vLookup in the "Saved Clients Table" in a Range within my table range. (Range: Saved Clients and the client's full name is in $A:$A and called "Clients Full Name" and once that name is found I need to select the cell in column C and the corresponding row.
This will allow me to copy the info in my form, Paste it in Transpose to the cell that is selected. (I already have that code)

Jan 12, 2010I have a 10x10 table. First row contains column titles (plain text, hardcoded). Each line below them has a 1 in *just one* cell. So, each line contains 9 zeros and one 1.
In the 11th column I want to check which column has the 1 in it and return the column's title. So, if the 5th row has a 1 in cell E5 I should get, in K5, the value of E1 (the title of the E column that is).
Custom Function To Find Heading And Subheading
Feb 24, 2014I am having a situation where I have heading of certain names or items and it is spread across 3-5 cells (merged as one) and underneath these cells there is subheading (each item occupying single independent cell). I just want a custom function that can LOOKUP the heading and then give me values corresponding to subheading of choice. I have attached relevant image for understanding. For example if in any other sheet or in the same sheet i want to lookup something FIRST by "Quantity" (main heading) and SECOND by subheading then how can i do the same?

May 16, 2008I have created a simple command button for tallying that will increase the count in the output cell by one every time it is clicked. It has basic code like this:

On top of that, I want the output cell of this command button to switch every day. In this case, it would move to E4 tomorrow. The columns are dated but I can't figure out how to get the output cell to automatically change with the system date so I don't have to manually change it every day.

Feb 9, 2008I need to work with the run times for some equipment. This is just hours and minutes and I get the raw data as like "Pump # 1 - 35:30". This is not date/time data per se, just a raw number of hours. I thought I would format the cells as hh:mm and for 15:00 I would just enter 15 to save time. No go, that becomes 1/15/00 00:00 and displays as 00:00. I discovered that if I just leave the formatting as general and enter 15:00 it works fine and displays right but the formula bar says 3:00 PM (Excel figured to format it hh:mm). When I enter 30:00 it again seems fine but the formula bar says Excel stores it as 1/1/00 6:00:00 AM (Excel figured to format it [h]:mm:ss but I deleted the seconds).
I can just set the formatting as [h]:mm to be consistent and enter the full 15:00 but I guess that after working that out I am just curious - can Excel store hours:minutes as just hours:minutes without turning it into a meaningless date? And without converting it to a decimal number? I don't want to total 1:30 + 1:45 = 3.25; I want the total to be 3:15. Again, it appears that [h]:mm will do what I need but it just seems unelegant to me that it is stored as some weird date and I wonder if it will cause a problem at any point.

Aug 9, 2013I'm trying to find the largest number in a row and then have the column heading (text) as the result. I can find the largest number by using =max(numb1, numb2 ....) but then how do I get the heading of the column as the result. An example of what I want to happen is below

Apr 3, 2008Im trying to create a userform that will enable the user to select a record from a listbox and then to edit the info for that record by changing the contents of text boxes which are set to display the current info. What I have seems to work intermittently. I basically use autofilter to find the selected record on the worksheet, then I set the value of each cell in the row to that of the appropriate textboxes. ListBox2.Column(4) contains the unique id for the selected record.

Naming Dynamic Range Of Cells Based On Heading
Apr 15, 2014I need to name a dynamic range of cells. The only constant is the column - H, and the heading "MRC".
MRC column in a table represents an array formula. Unknown is the row where it is going to show up and the number of rows that this array formula will take. I need to name this range (active cells based on the array formula) but do not know what row does it start with and how many rows will it take.
It is not the last table in column H either but there are 2 empty rows before the next table.
Trying something like that...

Find Non Matching Records In A List?

I want to search or filter the list and find the only non matched record in the list and put this in another sheet ie max as this is the only unique name in the list, all the others are matched. Everything I have tried eg filter for unique records returns ian andy john david max, which is not what I want.

Find Matching Parallel Lines

Alright: Sheet2 is a list of lines that have a parallel match, sometimes more than one. This example has 3 lines with slope 0.18 and I've added a few extra at the bottom for the sake of the example.
Worksheet Intersect is a working page where in the Bordered Box, highlighted in Green is full of parallel lines from Sheet 2. Sometimes there's none so I have a column to the right that says true if the line is on sheet2 and false if not. There's a helper column to the right to count up the trues and false.
I need to have laid out below, all the matches on Sheet2 to the green highlighted lines but not the original line that made the True. There could be lots of them, there could be one, this example has two for the slope of 0.18 and one for all the rest.
How do I write formulas to pull the matching slopes (column A) and y-intercepts (column B) from sheet 2, if there's an unknown amount and then list them on the intersect page?
The results will look something like:

I have in column X lots of names and in column Y (dynamic column
anges as the users chooses them as per the code) and I want to loop through all names in 'X' and if there are multiple of the same names then for the corresponding 'Y' row entry of each be checked and if they are equal (same $ value) then for one of them of cells in the Y column to be cleared.
Basically if the same name appears more than once it will most likley have the same $ value and if i do a calculation on the $'s it will be 2,3,10 times the amount it should be, hence the need for this .
As per the below code I am trying to use 2 for Each loops though I keep getting an error when trying to reference the drng range which has the values in them..

Jun 16, 2008I have a spreadsheet with 65000 potential client surnames in column c, with contract details in neighbouring columns. I have also a spreadsheet of 6000 actual client surnames. I would like to search the large spreadsheet to make sure that none of the clients are contained in it, or if some are to highlight them.
Do I use advanced filter or vlookup? I use excel 2000 and due to the size of the first spreadsheet it takes 6 minutes to open/save e.t.c.
