What is the easiest way to find the last occurrence of a value in a table using functions. I want to avoid VB if at all possible and note the row number and use it in an index function to report text adjacent to that last occurrence. I would normally use match but match only records the first match and not the last.

I am able to find the first nonzero value by using Match(true, A2:X20, 0) to find the relative position, and then using index to find the value. This method also works with the first zero value, but I can't seem to find how to do the second, third, nth occurrence.

Attached is a spreadsheet (all other data deleted) that shows what I am wanting to do – I have typed the results I am after directly in to the cells in columns BE & BF – BE will need some kind of countif, but when I try that is says I have too many arguments! I have to leave the columns in between blank in this case as they have other info in them, which is really annoying as if those 10 cells were contiguous then the formula
I've read the how to for finding the nth occurrence using index/match but the example given does not really help solve my issue. The file I've attached is a condensed version of the actual file, which has more columns but I deleted all but the necessary ones for clarity. What I am trying to accomplish:
On sheet1 there are three columns, Business, Amount, and Closing Date.
Not all the business names have a closing date and the spreadsheet is sorted alphabetically by business name, so sorting by closing date, and using the method used in the topic " find the nth occurrence in excel", is not an option.
On sheet2, I would like to see ALL the business names that have a closing date in the respective month, as opposed to just the first. Then to the right of the business names I have the sum of all the amounts in that month, but I figured out how to get that one already.
I have a userform where the user will identify a record to delete. I need to search another worksheet (Month) for the event's name which is associated a date. Once it finds this event's name I need to clear the contents of that cell.

I have 2 sheets with a formula in sheet 2 looking to pick up information from sheet 1. the formula in sheet 2 is:

But C8 appears in W7 and X7 in sheet 1 and will only pick up the first Occurrence and I need it to pick up the second Occurrence for this specific task.
I have a spreadsheet that lists all the work done by employees within a specific area. Some employees cover multiple areas.
I am now needing to work out the average work completed by each area. I need a formula that will count the number of employees by each work area.
I know this is something I have done before, but my mind has gone blank and I can't for the life of me work it out again (it's one of those days).
Row 3 of the spreadsheet contains the codes for the work areas they cover (CM, V & TC) and some employees only cover one (which would be a simple CountIf) but some have multiple.
What is the formula to, for example, count the number of people who have CM in row 3 even if they also have other entries in that cell.

Now what I need is a formula similar to the one provided in the above referenced thread; however, I need it to sum the totals of all Children (C) from column BW in the attached excel file, and return the sum values found in BW to the corresponding employee (E), before the next E occurrence, or blank, if the row below the last row containing a C value in row M in blank.

I need something similar to this routine that will find the last occurrence of a cell that contains the value greater than or = 1%.
I have one column in a worksheet that I want to split into 2 columns. If there is one "(" in the cell, I want to split at that point, but if there are two "(" 's, I want to split at the second occurrence. I can use the Like operator to identify the cells, but is there a way to specify which delimiter in a sequence of identical delimiters to split at? Here are templates (not actual data) of the two type of cells:
Name1 (ABC) (Name2, Name3)
Name4 (Name5, Name6)
For the first, I want to split on the second "(", before Name2, and for the second, I want to split on the first "(", before Name5.
I'm getting an export from a CDR. This export contains the date and times people log on and off from a queue. For logging in they dial 511, for logging out they dial 512. They get a voice prompt and type their password. I need to know how much time they daily spend in this queue
At first this looks pretty easy. I just make a sum of all the times they called to 511, then a sum of all time they called to 512 and finally I substract those values and I end up with the correct time spend in the queue.
The problem comes when they call multiple times to 512 without actually logging off. For example, they type the wrong password or simply hang up.
Result is this in the CDR

The actual time spend in the queue is 5 hours and 50 minutes. But Excel calculates this as 35 hours and 22 minutes, because it counts the 512 values no matter what.
How can I make sure that Excel only calculates the values of they are either the last value in the row OR if they are preceded by 511?

How to make information gathering easier. So I have a spreadsheet with information in one tab and Graphs & tables in another. I am trying to count how many times a word appears in my last column (the word is "HM - GM") but I only want to count how many times that appears in the month of Jul (The July column is my first column, it shows as "Jul-13" but when you click on the column it appears as 01/07/2013). I have tried a few =COUNTIFS formulas I found around the site, but none seem to work for me. I am trying to get the counted information into a table so it will show how many 'HM - GM' were in Jul-13.

at the moment i have a vba that converts the list to space delimetd columns, then selects all sorts into date time order, then deletes dupliactes as of column 2 keeping the most recent,
is there a more efficient way just to keep the most recent occurance and removing the rest

I'm trying to find a way to use a macro to extract data from a specific column from Sheet1 based on the columns header/title and copied into Sheet2 into the respective column with matching header/title.

I have a very large database of quotes. I have created a user interface with several textbox inputs, combobox inputs, and checkboxes. When the commandbutton is pressed I need a list of quote numbers to be generated based on the criteria the user input. I found an example program from here that is for ADVANCED EXCEL FIND. It only uses combo boxs and goes to those rows on datasheet. I have text input and checkbox inputs as well and I don't want it to take the user to the rows, I want just the quote numbers from the rows to be sent back to a textbox. I also read over one based on filtering data in a listbox.
This is my first program in VB, but I did quite a bit in C++ before. I can pretty much understand what all the coding says, I just am overwhelmed with it being so large and not sure how to put it all together.

I was wondering if there is a formula or command to find and delet specific rows. I want to remove people from an excel email list.
On Sheet 1, I have 500 rows with columns for first name, last name, and email.
On Sheet 2, I have 30 rows with columns for first name, last name, and email that appear on Sheet 1 but need to be removed.
Is there a way to do this without manually searching for each email and then deleting the row?
I’d like to return the range (or cells address) that includes text formatted in Bold and Arial font, this is always in Column “B”, so I’m actually behind the rows number....

I have a spreadsheet in which i need to find the value of the last used cell in a row.
e.g spread sheet uses columns "a" to "l" and rows "1" to "75".
Over time rows are filled in with text ("tom" "dick" "harry") from a to b to c, the most recent being to the right but the rows can move at different paces.
I want to count how many many times each value has come up most recently.

The file I'm searching from does not list the product name or description in the subtotal column. The host file is similar to below and I just want the product name and total quantity in the new worksheet. I will have a list of all products we carry in the new worksheet and I want to pull the total quantity ordered for each item, and if none were ordered return a quantity of 0. The program the host file is exported from also lists a header at the top of each page, so for example there may be a header in between the last occurrence of Product D and the Subtotal.
