Function Convert Codes Automatically
Mar 22, 2006
I have entered a lot of functions mainly VLOOKUPs. I want to write VBA codes for the functions without manually writing them. Is there a way in which I could get the manually written functions converted to codes automatically?

I'm trying to convert various codes from one column of an excel spreadsheet into different codes in another column. I was able to accomplish this with "If" statements, however I'm only able to string together seven of these statements in one command. Is there a better way to add formulas for more than seven conversions? Below is a copy of what I've done so far with the seven converts:
=IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("WARN",J2)),"Warning",IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("PSSNAP",N2)),"Sales",IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("WARN",L2)),"Warning",IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("2699",L2)),"Warning",IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("4004",L2)),"Warning",IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("2036",L2)),"Warning",""))))))
I want to add about 15 more codes to convert within this formula but it's maxed out in the format I'm using.

If n = 5, then I want to generate a string like this: "1+2+3+4+5". Similarly, if n = 7, I want the string "1+2+3+4+5+6+7".
I can generate the consecutive numbers, but have not figured out how to generate the required string.

Attached is the excel file which I compressed.
I need turn the data on sheet1 into the data on sheet2?
The data on the sheet1 always varies everyday so there's no exact data will remain on the same column or row on the following day.
I've been doing this manually by copying and pasting it.
And it takes me around 1 hour if its the end of the month.

I've posted an example workbook that has sheet1 as how the data comes and sheet2 as what I need it to look like (through some kind of automatic process). I really don't have a clue as to how to get this done, and I'm guessing some VBA is going to be required.

I have a lot of .txt files that needed to be converted to .csv file format. Right now I am doing it manually using MS Excel i.e. File > Open. For each file, I need to specify the length of each fields one by one, so it is quite an effort for me.
Is there any way to automate this process using MS Excel or any other existing programs?

I have a dir with over 150.000 files in it, especially pdf, doc and xls. Now I'm looking for a script or program that will automatically search the entire directory and look for old xls files, open them and save them in a new(er) version. I'm working with a software that needs to use these XLS files in my directory but it can't use the old xls-versions. It's an impossible job to search by hand for the old versions and put them in a new(er) version.

I have attached a sample workbook. The workbook already has a macro that can send an email after working out if the date is overdue. I have put a button on the screen, but I would like to remove the button and automate it, I got the initial macro from,( whoever initially put it together) but I have since made some changes to it regarding how the message displays etc. i, 15 or i, 16 in the macro means, There isn't anything in column i and I can't work out the relevance of it.

Is there a way to find cells that have a date in them that has a text digit with a 2 digit year to 'xx07' rather than having to click on the error and selecting it manually.
it's playing havoc when I'm pulling some data from another workbook so converting en masse would sort the problem out!
Anyone know how to do this?

1- I dont know why but sometimes excel 2010 converts numbers to dates automatically in my workbook. I use this macro to solve the problem, but since last week it is not working. I get an error: "Method 'NumberFormat' of object 'Range' failed".
2- because it should work in all cells of the workbook, the macro must make changes only in the cells with absolute numbers (ex: 1223) but must not change if in the cell there is a date like 12-may-2012 (numbers with hyphens).
This is my function:

Sub PuxaDatas()
Dim sht As Worksheet
For Each sht In ActiveWorkbook.Sheets
[Code].....

I am writing VBA code that dissects a cell which always contains some alphanumeric characters a colon ":", some more characters, another colon ":" and some more characters.
For Example this is what is in my cell "Deposit:93121:Southern California"
what I need is to cut and paste everything that is located after the 2nd colon ":"
Say that my cell is D433 and in non-vba world I can chop off the first part of the cell to the left of the first colon ":" by using the following formula:
=MID(D433, FIND(":",D433)+1,50)
assuming there are less than 50 characters in my cell, which is a safe number, then I cut and pastespecial this cell as values into the same cell and repeat that same formula and voila, what remains in cell D433 is what I am looking for "Southern California"
how can I replicate this surgical process in VBA, is there a way to combine this process in one command on any given target cell?

I am looking for a function that would convert any mark into a grade. For example in cell B4 I want to enter the total score, cell c4 the score that a student gets and in cell d4 the grade. It is like a grade calculator. I do not want to limit cell b4 the total score cell with a specific total score number. It can be 100, 50, 30 or 10. The moment I enter any total score and the mark that a student actually scored, the grade is given. I attached an excel sheet.

I do not know if this is possible in VBA, but I am hoping it is as it will make my life much easier.
Is it possible to say have a TextBox and a CommandButton, that does the following?
Public Sub Execute()
Dim ObjectName As String
Dim Object As Object
ObjectName = txtObject.Text
Set Object = ObjectName
Object.Execute
End Sub
Or to take it a step further:
Public Sub Execute()
Dim ObjectName As String
Dim FunctionName As String
Dim Object As Object
ObjectName = txtObject.Text
FunctionName = txtFunction.Text
Set Object = ObjectName
Object.FunctionName
End Sub
Are there any inbuilt functions that will create/reference an object based on a string containing the name of the object or function?

This is the formula I typed in

When I evaluate it I get the #NAME error. What do I need to change to make it work?
