Transpose Function: Convert The Worksheet

Nov 18, 2008

I currently have a Tab named "Rent by Month 3-08-5-29" containing the monthly rent amount for 700 locations for March 2008 - May of 2029 with the layout seen below.

A B C D E
Shop# 3/1/2008 4/1/2008 5/1/2008 6/1/2008 ETC..
2 $5000 $5000 $5000 $5000
3 $3000 $3000 $3000 $3000
4 $7000 $7000 $7000 $7000
18 $4000 $4000 $4000 $4000
ETC... continuing down 700 rows and over 251 columns

What I need to do is convert this worksheet so it contains the same information but resembles the following layout.
A B C
Shop# Month Rent Amount
2 3/1/2008 $5000
2 4/1/2008 $5000
2 5/1/2008 $5000
2 6/1/2008 $5000
3 3/1/2008 $3000
3 4/1/2008 $3000
3 5/1/2008 $3000
3 6/1/2008 $3000
Etc....

Convert Or Transpose One Column Into Many Rows

I have a huge list, all in one column:

A1 1. Aarvark Inn
A2 Region: 3
A3 Unit: B
A4 2. Avalon Home
A5 Region: 6
A6 Unit: A

I want to make it so that every three items becomes a row. So that my data is like this, with the number and name being column A, the Region being column B, and the Unit being column C in the worksheet.

1. Aarvark Inn Region: 3 Unit: B

Convert/Transpose Multiple Groups Of Rows Across Columns

Mar 9, 2009

How to convert multiple Rows recors to a single row record in a Notes(csv) format? Have update my xls file. My source is in the below format(Source.xls):

GroupName_A,Name_A
GroupName_A,Name_B
GroupName_A,Name_C
GroupName_B,Name_D
GroupName_B,Name_E
GroupName_B,Name_F
GroupName_B,Name_G
GroupName_B,Name_H
GroupName_B,Name_I

I want to convert it to a CSV file where by it can be import to Lotus Notes (output.xls):

1,1,Group,GroupName_A,"Name_A,Name_B,Name_C","CN=John Sam/OU=FIN/OU=staff/O=IBM,CN=Mary Flow/OU=FIN/OU=staff/O=IBM",CN=John Sam/OU=FIN/OU=staff/O=IBM
1,1,Group,GroupName_B,"Name_D,Name_E,Name_F,Name_G,Name_H,Name_I","CN=John Sam/OU=FIN/OU=staff/O=IBM,CN=Mary Flow/OU=FIN/OU=staff/O=IBM",CN=John Sam/OU=FIN/OU=staff/O=IBM

As you can see only GroupNameN, and Name_N are varibles, the rest of the fields are static. note that there is opening and closing quota for column "E" and "F" in output.xls

Im thinking a macro?

Modified Transpose Function OR Macro?

Oct 14, 2009

I am trying to perform the following, but am unsure if a macro is needed, or if there is a way to do it by possibly modifying the transpose function. Here are the steps required:

1 - copy a selected range of cells from a single row in one worksheet (i.e. D3:AE3).

2 - paste the data from those cells into a selected range of cells from a single column (i.e. A1:A14) in a separate worksheet BUT skip the cells from D3:AE3 that were blank instead of having them create blank cells in the column of the target worksheet

3 - Need to maintain a reference back to the original row of cells so that if their values change (i.e. D3 from source), the corresponding values in the new column (i.e. A1 in target) are auto updated.

Transpose Function..Empty Cells And Characters

Apr 10, 2009

I just recently switched to Excel 2007 and am not that familiar with the program.

I have a question that has 3 components.

I have alot of data in Column A that has many blank cells.

I performed several searches and have still not been able to remove them.

This particular method worked if I was selecting a small amount of data

url]

Yet when I use with the entire list I get the error "selection is too large".

What I basically want to do is take the data that I have gathered and transpose it so I can save as a csv file and import in to my contact manager.

Transpose From One Worksheet To Another Based On Several Criteria

Feb 10, 2013

I have several worksheets in one workbook entitled, "A", "B", "C", "D", and "E". In A1 of each worksheet is the title of the respective worksheet. In A3 is the word "Day", while in rows A4:A34 are the numbers 1 through 31 (corresponding to days of the month), in the date format "1/1/2012", etc. In row 3, columns B:F contain dates of the first day of a respective, consecutive month and year spanning ther period 1/1/2012 thhrough 3/31/2013. For example in B3, the date 1/1/2012 appears, while in C3, 2/1/2012 appears, etc. all the way to P3 the date 3/1/2013 apppears. In the "body" of the table (B4:F34) is daily data corresponding to the respective day, month and year.

What I would like to do is "transpose" this data to a "Master" worksheet set up as follows: in row B1:F1 would contain the names of the individual worksheets (A, B, C, D, and E). Range A2:A457 would contain daily dates beginning with 1/1/2012 and ending with 3/31/2013. In the "body" of this worksheet, i. e., B2:F457 would be the daily data corresponding to the respective day, month, year and worksheet.

Vlookup To Convert Row Of Cells Into Column Of Cells (transpose)

Jan 13, 2014

i'm trying to take a selected row of about 7 cells (which are obviously all positioned horizontally) and have it inserted, via vlookup using the drop down option of 'Data Validation', to another location but having all the cells lined up vertically, meaning going down 7 cells. I would guess that a shorter explanation of what i'm trying to do is to have the vlookup transpose 7 cells.

Transpose Or Convert Rows Of Data Into Columns Of Data:

Feb 12, 2009

When I was using Excel 2000, there was an Excel add-in where I could highlight rows of information and then transpose these into columns of information. Since we have upgraded to Excel 2003, the same Excel add-in does not work and I have not been able to find a simple solution to transpose my information from a horizontal view to a vertical view or the reverse.

Or do I just have to move 53 columns (weeks) of 4 rows one cell at a time to 4 columns of 53 rows (weeks)?

Transposing Macro: Take A Set Number Of Consecutive Entries And Transpose Them To Another Worksheet

Mar 3, 2007

I work on some High-throughput Projects analyzing biological samples. The software we use for analysis spits out the data into excel. This is all well and good, being mostly automated. However, my issue arises when I get the output data. It's simply one long list of values in a single column. This could potentially be 384 entries. Depending on the parameters of our experiment, I'd like to be able to take a set number of consecutive entries and transpose them to another worksheet. However I don't know how to loop the function to get the specific entries transposed to their specific worksheet. I'm pasting a recorded macro I made to illustrate my point.

Sub HTSoutput1()
Range("B2:B9").Select
Selection.Copy
Sheets("K562").Select
Range("B2").Select
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteAll, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks:= _
False, Transpose:=True
Application.CutCopyMode = False
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "2330"
Sheets("Nuclei").Select
Range("B10:B17").Select.............

Convert Mid & Find Function To Vba

Oct 18, 2007

I am writing VBA code that dissects a cell which always contains some alphanumeric characters a colon ":", some more characters, another colon ":" and some more characters.

For Example this is what is in my cell "Deposit:93121:Southern California"

what I need is to cut and paste everything that is located after the 2nd colon ":"

Say that my cell is D433 and in non-vba world I can chop off the first part of the cell to the left of the first colon ":" by using the following formula:

=MID(D433, FIND(":",D433)+1,50)

assuming there are less than 50 characters in my cell, which is a safe number, then I cut and pastespecial this cell as values into the same cell and repeat that same formula and voila, what remains in cell D433 is what I am looking for "Southern California"

how can I replicate this surgical process in VBA, is there a way to combine this process in one command on any given target cell?

Convert String To Object Or Function

Apr 11, 2007

I do not know if this is possible in VBA, but I am hoping it is as it will make my life much easier.

Is it possible to say have a TextBox and a CommandButton, that does the following?

Public Sub Execute()

Dim ObjectName As String
Dim Object As Object

ObjectName = txtObject.Text
Set Object = ObjectName

Object.Execute

End Sub

Or to take it a step further:

Public Sub Execute()

Dim ObjectName As String
Dim FunctionName As String
Dim Object As Object

ObjectName = txtObject.Text
FunctionName = txtFunction.Text
Set Object = ObjectName

Object.FunctionName

End Sub

Are there any inbuilt functions that will create/reference an object based on a string containing the name of the object or function?
