Get X-values From Bar Chart

Oct 11, 2007

I have a stacked-bar- plot: Sequences (Y) as a function of time (X).

The stack colors display different discrete events (E), see 'Quantiles.xls' in the attachment.

Now I've changed the the X-Aches from time to percentage.

I need to analyse these percent-transfomation of the data.

How can I write out the Events as the bar-plot as a function of percentage (like the blue-colored matrix in Quantiles.xls).

Show Missing Values In Pivot Chart (line Chart) Axis?

Apr 18, 2013

How can I add missing values to the axis in a pivot chart line chart? I have a numerical X-axis with values such as 0,1,5,8,14, etc. I have another set of Y values that correspond to the X values. If this was an XY-scatter plot I'd be able to plot X vs. Y and connect the dots for "gaps" in the X values. Since it's a pivot chart I cannot use an XY-scatter plot, I can only use a line chart. The line chart doesn't give me the ability to add the "missing" values, so it gives the impression that my data is more closely packed than it is. The data source is external to my spreadsheet, so I cannot add the values before creating the pivot table/chart.

Pie Chart - How To Use Hide Values But Not Show In Chart

Dec 17, 2013

I have created a pie chart showing top 10 best selling categories. However, on this pie chart, I want %age of overall sales to be shown.

At the moment say I put in the following

Catalogue 1 100
Catalogue 2 98
Catalogue 3 92
Catalogue 4 85
Catalogue 5 84
Catalogue 6 75

[Code]....

I add Data Labels and select the percentages. This shows at Cat 1 having 12.5% of the sales (100 of 800 sales), Cat 2 having 12.25%, and so on..... However, what you don't see is the following data:

Catalogue 11 60
Catalogue 12 58
Catalogue 13 57
Catalogue 14 57
Catalogue 15 56

So based on 1,088 sales, Cat 1 at 100 is actually only 9.19% of TOTAL sales.

I understand what is happening, the chart is giving the percentage based on the data inputted into the chart.

I did consider adding an 11th category to the chart, which was the total of Catalogues 11-15. Whilst this does give a more accurate percentage figure (as now all sales have been inputted), it makes the chart look ****

Is there a way of either adding the 11th category, and then "hiding" it, so that the chart doesn't display it, but uses it's value to calculate Catalogues 1-10s percentage?

BTW: The reason I ask is that I could be dealing with anywhere from 30 to over 100 catalogues. So it's not ideal showing the others in 1 chart.

Omit Zero Values In A Chart

Apr 22, 2007

I am using Excel 2003.

I have pulled various data points from a pivot table into a summary.

My pivot table is located on a tab entitled "Pivots - All".

My summary tab is entitled "Open Summary".

My chart tab is entitled "Open Charts".

The formula within the summary cell that is pulling from the pivot equals
=GETPIVOTDATA("Active Y/N",'Pivots - All'!$A$70,"Active Y/N","Yes","Leader","Eurich","Expected Tenure",4)

I have found ways to NOT display the zero values in the summary tab, but the column chart (which is set to use value as the data labels, continues to pull the zeroes in the chart.

Is there a way around this besides using the "clear all" within the summary? I refresh this data weekly and don't want to have to keep redirecting the cells in the summary to the pivot.

Chart With Different Vastly Values

Aug 11, 2009

I'm not sure how readable this data is, I wish I could cut and paste the actual graph here, I'm not sure how to do it.

I'm trying to show the Time and Cost involved with cutting logs into Timber. This data shows what I want, but it'll far easy to deal with if I had a graph.

I can't produce a graph to show all data.

I have tried using a secondary axis, but it'll only work for a given Data Series, ie June, July or August. Given that only one piece of data in each series is in the thousands, I would like to be able to show the secondary axis for the fourth Category. Is this possible?

Pie Chart Floating Values

Jun 20, 2007

I have created a chart in a chart sheet (using VBA) - all well and good. Now I notice that if I place the mouse pointer over any of the pie slices, I see text similar to the following

Series 1 point "Swedbank" Value: nnnnnn (n%)

Now obviously (?), the name Swedbank is from the source data and the nnnnn (n%) are the values to be plotted. I'm wondering 2 things Can I "format" that text in any way, for example, so it shows Swedbank, value: nnnnn (n%)If I can, can I also format the numbers so that'll end up something like 1 234 567

Pivot Chart Showing Zero Avg As + Or - Values?

Dec 14, 2012

I made a chart to show performance above and below average for sales teams.

When team is selected with no salesperson, value should be 0.

Employee selected and will show there week by week trends above or below. Seemed like a good idea. But the zeros (team level) are being displayed as plus or minus bars which isn't right and the labels show "0".

I find the pivot table is actually showing strange values if you click in the cell even though it displays a 0.Notations positive or negative like 3.80647894157197E-16.

The underlying data is an average formula and selecting invidual criteria, I show there are no anomalies.

Ignore Zero Values In Pivot Chart

Jun 15, 2014

I have a data set for a call centre that displays each staff member's daily call numbers across two different call types (Call Type 1, Call Type 2) - staff only work on one particular call type each day. I would like to create two pivot charts, one with daily/weekly/monthly averages for Call Type 1, and one for Call Type 2.

On the Call Type 1 pivot chart, is there any way to exclude staff members who only work on Call Type 2 by ignoring zero values and not displaying their name on the horizontal axis? Currently, if a staff member was working on Call Type 2, they will still display in the Call Type 1 chart as a gap. I have read in other forums that you can set a minimum value on standard Excel charts, but I can't see how to do this on a Pivot Chart.

XY Scatter Chart With Real X Values

Jul 26, 2009

I have 200+ XY pairs I want to chart and see a visual representation of their distribution. Then I want to cursor over exceptional points and see their identity. I don't need (nor want) data labels, disparate markers, nor a legend. I just want the points scattered on the xy plane. Also, the data set changes depending on user-controllable filter criteria.

There are two problems:
1. If I build it through the wizard as a single data series, everything is fine except that the charting process seems to replace the X value of the XY pair with a sequence number once I swap in a new data set, and ...
2. I seem to loose the individual point identities for cursor-over purposes.

The only solution I can think of for these issues is making each XY pair a one-point Series, but that's a hugely laborious way to do it. If that's it though, is there a way to globally load the independent data series and set every data point marker and color to be the same?

However, if I could do it as a single series, then I still have the issues above. Is there a way to prevent Excel from converting the X values to sequence numbers once a new data set is swapped in, and is there a way to identify the individual points for cursor-over?

Stop Chart Plotting Values

Dec 7, 2007

I want to do almost exactly this, but when I assign null using "", and plot the result on a graph, the graph thinks that cell is populated with a 0. Let me try to be a bit clearer. I have a range of dates in Col A, and percentages in B and C, but my last 3 dates in Col A have empty cells in B. Cols B and C are separate series. The line graph is (correctly) plotting series C, and series B, whose line stops where there is no more data.

What I need to do now is replace those empty cells with a formula like the one above. Ie, IF(ISBLANK(x1),<null>, <formula>), but using IF(ISBLANK(x1),"", <formula>) doesn't make the line on my graph stop.

Hiding Zero Values From The Chart Data Range

Jul 7, 2014

I am currently building a tool that works with an undefined range of input variables, e.g. I now have a range of 200 values but it could just as easily be 400 or 100. I am using these values for further calculations and have thus 'dragged down' to cells that in some instances are empty, resulting in values that are 0. I'm also building a chart based on these values, but it shows the values that are 0 as well!

Is there any way to just plot the non-zero values without changing the data range?

Visualize In Line Chart - Not Display Zero Values

Oct 14, 2011

I have a column of data that I'd like to visualize in a line chart. The cells in the column contain formulas that calculate numbers added to other sheets every month. The adjacent column has the names of each month. New data appears when the data for the month is added.

I'd like to ask the chart to not display the values that are currently zero, because we haven't arrived at that month yet. So, for instance, the cell in the column for November 2011 has a zero, because the range it sums has no data in it yet.

Is there a way to do this without having to go back to each chart every month and change the range to add-in the new data?
