Using Data Tables When There Are MULTIPLE Things That Can Change
Dec 22, 2013I have to use data tables to calculate Net Present Value (NPV) by altering specific variables.
My NPV is the result of a series of calculations to ultimately arrive at a cash flow figure and then apply the WACC (average cost of capital)
I understand how to use data tables But for the life of me i cant figure out how im going to tell excel that im changing for example wage costs and not fixed assets when trying to asses the NPV sensitivity
My sheet and calculations are all set up
I've done it manually by altering the figures on the Inputs and Data Sheet.
My NPV calculation is on the Workings and calculations sheet.
The data tables i have done manually are on the Inputs and Data sheet.

Calendar Into Log For Many Things
Nov 3, 2008I have a few excel calendars.
I was wondering can I take a calendar and then put hyperlinks or vba to make a sheet if clicked on.
So If I click on an icon on a date, it will copy a certain template sheet, then link it to that date and that icon.
See an excel calendar, I have a few others to play with aw well.
But this one gets updated on the same the page and not sure how the links/icon would follow the dates. I was hoping for maybe 3-4 different icons on a date.

Vlookup Getting N/A... Tried Multiple Things
Aug 29, 2008I am trying to compare items on two spreadsheet. I have an existing spreadsheet that lists items and then I import another spreadsheet from a database to confirm if new items have been added that were not on the original spreadsheet. I am about to go crazy and cannot figure out why I keep getting N/A (I know there are some repeats).
I have tried formatting, adding in isna, making sure there are no spaces, and paste special as text... still doesn't work. There are hypens in the data so I have removed them with substitute.

I have this macro to move things to the right. Sort of like a vlookup in a way. However, it runs using one range @ a time. For example it will look up the quantity in A2 versus what's in Row 1 and if they match, data from B2 would be moved into correct column. However, I'd like to run for multiple columns at the offset so I can don't have to keep changing data in the macro. Like want to run for these ranges at the same time as running the first range.

Aug 20, 2009I am trying to develop a point system to rank things. For eg: in the below chart, I have the follow criteria.
In a particular Cell A1, i enter a numerical value like 1.5. Then Cell A2 (Points) should show that the Points earned is 80.
If MTTR is 1.00, then the Points received by the candidate is 100. Similarly if 3.5 or higher is there, then the points should be 0

I know this can be done manually with relative ease, but it will need to be done very very very often, so I'd like to automatic it as much as possible.

Code works because there was only one date on the sheet other than the one's I was trying to find. I now have to store additional dates in the sheet and this is disrupting the search as it stops (as it should upon finding a match). May 27, 2014I am using the above code to find and remove data, at present the code does not find the exact match.
For instance if someone enters as it will remove any entry with as in it.
I want it to only remove specific data, so if someone types in as, and as is not in the list to look through I wan't them to recieve a message telling them to check spelling and enter exact value of data to be removed.
IE (enter Blauv to remove Blauv, Not BL and remove Blauv, Black, Blue)
The find method has a lookat arguement which you can define as xlwhole or xlpart, by default it is set to xlpart.
If you have a cell containing Blauv
.find("Bl") will find it, .find("Bl", lookat:=xlwhole) will not.

I would like 2 VBA scripts.
1 - replace the following letters (uppercase & lower) in Column A and C replace A, V, N, Z, X, Q
so if it finds A it would remove A from the cell.
The cells may contain other letters including these one's i.e

2 - The second independent code would replace the characters replace A, V, N, Z, X, Q with P, M, L, R, J, H ie. A becomes P, V becomes M etc...

Name Range Of Worksheets And Find Duplicate Data In Column In Each Sheet
Jun 11, 2013I have made up 7 worksheets that are completely identical with exception of course to the data they contain. I have a master sheet that contains some of the data from each of the other sheets that will be shared between them. Things were working very well until I discovered that some data was duplicated on a couple of the sheets; and I am in need of adding more worksheets.
The formula I am using for this will not allow me to have more than the 7 worksheets. It is an IF statement array. So now I am wondering how will I be able to add these extra sheets. I would like to use my worksheet names in a range but have evidently done something wrong and could not get that to work before, ending up with this very long 'IF'. !Can worksheet names be used to create a named range?
Also, I would like to know if there is a way to prevent duplicate data on these sheets. I am using conditional formatting on each sheet now, but that of course only works on the current sheet.
Find Data In Column Range & Return Cell Same Row But X Columns To Right
Jun 18, 2008i have is 3 sheets in the same excel document. Sheet 1 is the mater sheet, which is a compilation of sheets 2 and 3, however the sheet layouts are different.
The sheets consist of a list of names and details. Sheet 1 has all the names in the list, however sheet 2 and 3 only have partial lists that are in a different order from the original list. The details listed next to the names in sheets 2 and 3 are different and hence a straight forward row copy and paste will not work.
What i need is to write a vba script that can take the name from the master list, search sheets 2 and 3 for the name and lookup the variables placed in next to the name, then update the master sheet accordingly, then continue to the next name on the master sheet and do the update again, and so on until all is updated. I have already thought about using lookup functions in excel however there is 1000 names on the list and around 60 details so it would be messy.

however it does not like the find function. Does it exist? am I using it correctly?
