I'm trying to find a formula that can be input in the yellow cells shown, which automatically searches for the last date seen/entered for that particular client. I wish to be able to sort Column A and look for all client's seen in say "January" and it show the last date the client was seen that year. Hopefully the example will be clear.

1) The first column needs to be search to match a text string.
2) If the text string matchs, I need excel to evaluate the number in the second column and find the MIN value of all numbers associated with the text string.
So:
Joe 50
Jim 12
Joe 10
Rob 25
Jim 8
Rob 99
When searching for "Joe", the function would return 10. When searching for "Jim" the function would return 8. For "Rob", it would return "25".
I have a list of 200,000 e-mail addresses in a excel document in column A. What i am trying todo is find all the duplicate e-mail addresses within the list that appears more than four times.
I have tried this forumla in colunm B so it lists how many times the record appears: =countif($A$2:$A$244270,A2) which works fine and then a number appears next to each record. Then i pressed the sort filter to arrange all the records in number order so all the 5's are at the top of the worksheet but that does'nt always list them in the correct number order.
Basically all i want todo is find all the records that appear in my list more than five times then make a list of just one of those 5 records so i can remove them from my e-mail system.
Easy way to find the drop down list , if more than 500 list. at least the very first letter of the text.

I'm using Excel 2010 on a Windows 7 machine.
I have one sheet with a large list of dates and total prices.
I have a second sheet with a list of dates and unit prices.
I want to divide the total price in my first list by the unit price on my second list.
I want to somehow point Excel to the date in the first list, and then lookup the corresponding date in the second list to use the correct unit price.
My thoughts thus far have been along using VLOOKUP with WEEKNUM and YEAR but I've been unsuccessful.
I'm trying to combine the hours that a employee worked on a single date, with one of multiple time periods that exist for that employee.
I have two sets of data.
Set 1 (hours)
Employee number, date, hours

Set 2 (periods)

What I'd like to do is to add the start and end date of Set 2 to Set 1 for every row in Set 1
In above example the result should be like this.

I have collected some data on economic factors for different countries. Unfortunately, the dates when I started to calculated my economic factors are different for each country (due to the data available to me).
What I would like Excel to have done is to take the date when I started to measure for e.g. country A (D3 ie 30/06/2007), copy it into column "I" (for country A, it's cell I3) and fill in the following months in the rows below (with always the date of the last day of a month) until it reaches 28th of Feb 2013. Then, it should go up to the next country (country B) take the starting date (D4, ie 31/07/2007), go to the last entry in "I" (ie I71) and paste the date in, fill in the months until 28th of Feb 2013, do the same for country C and so on.
I have started to code a VBA but I am unfortunately a beginner in VBA and totally stuck at the moment. My VBA code does paste in the months but for some reason, it also changes the starting date of the first month.
Moreover, I tried a workaround for the fact that Excel doesnt know when to stop; ie I introduced a "monthdiff" variable which should calculate the number of months between the starting date (which is variable and unique for each country) and the end date (which is always 28th of Feb 2013). At the moment, it only does this for country A.

What I have is the project name's in B5, B6.....B117
In C5 I have a start Date of the project
D5 Calculates the if it is over or under time.
I only enter dates in the (red Accent 2 80%) what i call a pinkish colour.
Now it seems to work if the dates flow from one cell to the next.
What I need is to work out a way to allow any part of the project to be completed (Could be at the end or middle) and it not give error and work correctly. I need it to basically look for dates entered and grab the date that is equal to the date entered in that row series or the next date down....

In have 2 columns of data (temperature & gas evaloved) in A2..A200 and B2..B200
I use =INDEX(A2:A200,MATCH(MAX(B2:B200),B2:B200,0)) to find the
max value gas evolved in column B then read off the temperature from column A.
I now need to look down the list and take the 10th reading for temperature and gas evolved after the max gas evolved value in column B.
I've looked at the use of Index, Offset, Row & Match here on the forum in other posts but I juist cant seem to grasp it in my head what to do.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find the smallest values in a list. that part is easy (use SMALL). But, I want the ref to the cell where that value is in, not the value itself. Additional problem occurs when more than one of these values are the same. Example: A1 = 1; A2 = 3 ; A3 = 2 ; A4 = 2 ; etc. If I want the smallest, I want "A1" as result, for the 2nd smallest I want "A3", for the 3rd smallest I want "A4". So you see that a MATCH formula will not work beceause some of the values are the same.

Everything I have tried eg filter for unique records returns ian andy john david max, which is not what I want.

I have a list of numbers ranging from $9,516 to $110,000 and I am trying to figure out a manner to determine what is the most common number rounded to the nearest $10,000.
When I use the mode function it only tells me the absolute number that has the most occurences. I am trying to determine the predominate group in the overall range. Basically I want to count the number of occurences in the forty thousand range, fifty thousand range, etc. so I can determine what is the most popular $10,000 range.
I have a list of data that currently has a conditional format on it of =COUNTIF($F$2:$F2,$F1)>1 so that it will highlight the duplicate but keep the first entry blank. I wondered whether there is a way to identify the last duplicate in the list. i imagine this could be done in a column say with an "L".
