Use If Statement In Cell That Contains Data Validation
Sep 29, 2011I have a cell containing data validation list and what i want to do is that when i choose the 1st value from this list .. a number (for examole 1) appears in another blank cell .. and if i choose the 2nd value from the list .. another number (let's say 2) appears in the blank cell.
So how to use the if statement in a cell that contains a data validation ?!!

Apr 22, 2009I am trying to have a cell in sheet "Summary" count the number of cells in column DX of sheet "Analyses" that are greater than 0, provided that the value in column A of "Analyses" corresponds with the value in B8 of sheet "Summary."
(In "Analyses," there are 106 subjects, each taking up 64 rows. So, columns 1-64 correspond to Subject 1, columns 65-128 correspond to subject 2, etc. In column DX, each subject has 64 values that are either 0 or greater than 0. In "Summary," each subject has one row that summarizes the 64 trials. I want a single cell in the "Summary," sheet to reflect the number of times each subject produces a value greater than 0 in column DX of "Analyses.") I tried using this formula, but it did not work correctly:
=COUNTIF(IF(Analyses!$A$1:$A$10000=Summary!B8,Analyses!$DX$1:$DX$10000,""),">0")
(Summary!B8 = 1, so I am trying to calculate the number of values in DX that are greater than 0 only for subject 1.) When I press enter, this yields a value of 384. This is impossible, given that subject 1 only has 64 possibilities of yielding a value greater than 0. Subject 1 has 2 values in column DX that are greater than 0. I tried making this an array formula by pressing Shift+Ctrl+Enter, and that just gives me a #VALUE! error.
Utilize A Select Case Statement In Target Intersect Statement
Jul 28, 2009I am currently using an Intersect statement in a worksheet module to perform two things:
1. Insert a time stamp into row 2 when row 1 has a price inserted
2.To clear that time stamp if the price is deleted at some later date.
My problem is with the time stamp value being deleted by the user.
If I try to clear the price (now that the time cell =empty) I get a Runtime error 91 - Object Variable or With block variable not set.
I would like to convert this code to a select case statement but I'm not sure how to do this in this situation. Would error coding be appropriate in this instance?

Aug 7, 2009I have a simple work book. Please refer to the attachment Book1.xls.
In B1, the data is limited (by Data Validation with a drop down List) to Yes and No.
I need to limit the range of data in D1 as, If B1 = Yes , then the value of D1 could be entered More or Equal to 51 ; and if B1 = No then the data entered into D1 should be Less than or Equals to 50
I prefer to do it with Data Validation.

Mar 25, 2014I have found a base macro that has most of what I want the only problem is I need it to search column A by the data entered by the user in the inputbox and send out an email if it meets all the requirements. I also need it to be able to be able to do that search by only the first letter of the company name (example, only needing to put in A in the inputbox for Amber Inc.). If I remove the red text the macro works perfectly but just runs down the list on the spreadsheet.
Column A has company names, Column B has email address' and Column C has the company contacts first name.

What i need to do is, if 'A' is selected in "A3", then in "B3" i want a drop-down box to select "A only" compatible values, whereas if 'B' is selected in "A3" then i want "B only" compatible values to be used in "B3" list box/drop-down box.

Simplifying If Statement For Filter And Finding No Data
May 9, 2014I have a macro which builds a report to be sent out daily, however some days there are no updates in certain categories.
The macro copies over certain template lines from a template report, then filters the formatted data sheet and copies the rows over to a report the problem is that certain days the filter returns no rows, so I put in a lengthy if statement
Here is the code I am currently using, I would like to simplify it (the entire macro would run this about 20 times over for different sections).

Dependent Data Validation List With IF Statement
Jul 25, 2013I am having trouble with a dependent dv list. Please see below:
=INDIRECT(IF(I5="Support",Internal_Cost_Centres,Project_Codes))
where
Support is a named list from the parent dv list
Internal_Cost_Centres is a named list
Project_Code is a named list
When I select Support from the parent dv list, it will return the list named Internal_Cost_Centres, however, when I select something else it doesn't work.. there are 3 options in all on the parent list (Support, Production, Project) and whether Production or Project selected, I want it to return the same list - Project_Codes.
If Statement - Displaying A Cell That Corresponds To Another Cell
Jun 3, 2009look at the attached. In the estimate tab look at the box highlighted in yellow. Then look at the cells in pink (row 70). F70 is selecting the lowest maintenance value from the yellow box but I want C70 to display the hours associated to that value. The correct hours will need to appear according to what value is displayed. (this sounds confusing but look at the formula in F70 and you will hopefully see what im trying to achieve).

Once I get it working how would I say this correctly?

The final "hope" is that it will continue down column C and D looking for the condition until first empty row is found at which point the code will stop looking for the condition.

Sep 21, 2006I need an if statement which returns a value if cell B2 contains the value “Liability” The whole value of B is Liability with a 10 digit number (which is changing). I tried:
=IF(B2="Liability","Liability","")
=IF(B2="Liability*","Liability","") and
=IF(B2=CONCATENATE("Liability"," *"),"Liability","")
But nothing is working. Can’t get my head around to get it up and running and couldn’t find previous threads.

I have tried several options, ISERROR(FIND(.................also EXACT(........ and they all seem to get stuck, after the second expression.
Basically, I have a ROW of Cells, with numbers inside them, like so:-
F8.....G8....H8....I8...J8....K8
27.....33....10.....4....4.....4
And looking from right to left, I am asking this question:-
If K8=J8, then I will have K8 & I8 as my result.
If K8=I8, then I will have K8 & H8 as my result.
If K8=H8, then I will have K8 & G8 as my result.
If K8=G8, then I will have K8 & F8 as my final result, Else its K8&J8 as my FALSE.
(the $J$3 = a comma, for number separation, and further LEN string capture.)
Every time I have made this formula, with other types of Logic, it only ever finds the second tier depth as the result,
and I wonder why, since they are several nested IF statements in line!!

Jul 23, 2009I am trying to do a calculation based on the conditions of two cells but one cell I would need the range of the report. Either way, here is my current statement.
=IF(P2:P15 = "Green Building 15",SUM(COUNTIF(C2:C15,"Over AC")+COUNTIF(C2:C15,"Top Lab AC")),0)
I get a Value# error (though it systematicaly works if you check in the funtion area), and its because of the range I am using, is there anyway to bypass thiss issue or can someone give a better calculation.
