Index And Match To Check Data And Provide Exception Results
Mar 25, 2014
Currently i am using index and match in excel but however i am unable to get the result tt I want.. what i need is
Data to check with item master whether all 3 (article, color code and size) matches and if it doesn't match, which of the field is wrong. (eg: wrong color code, wrong size or article don't exist).
[Code] .......
Above is my item master
Data to check
[Code] ........
Example case: 1
Checking first row of data check
Article number: 2-50660147
Color code: 6
Size: M
Result: "Wrong size"
But however, it returns as wrong size as it only reads the first time the article number appear in the item master and does not recognize the second time the article number appears with the correct color and size.
I have two data points a Talk Time Value lets say 2:08 and the number of calls lets say 10 and need to pull the column heading value for the number of agents needed lets say 2. My "Grid" is saved in one sheet and the my variable data values are in another. I need to somehow pull the closet match of my talk time value 2:08 and the calls value 10 to match up on my grid and give me the Column Heading which is the number of agents. Which in this example would be 2 agents. Just for reference in my other sheet I have my Talk time Value in C3 and my Call number value in D3. I tried various Index and Match formulas but have not got the one that I need to work the closet I have is =INDEX(Sheet2'B1:D1,MATCH(D3,INDEX(Sheet2'B2:D7,MATCH(C3,'Sheet2'A2:A7,1),0))).
example: in Sheet 2 ColA Col B Col C Col D Sheet 1 C3= 2:08 D3=10 Row 1 1 2 3 Row 2 1:00 0 3 4 Row 3 1:15 1 5 6 Row 4 1:30 2 7 8 Row 5 1:45 3 9 10 Row 6 2:00 4 10 11 Row 7 2:15 5 12 13
I've spent the last week trying to do the following, with little to no success....and I'm running out of hair to pull out!!
I have a worksheet (let's call it DATA) with the following column headers: * Site Name * Year Initiated * Status
plus a whole bunch of other columns of information.
On a separate worksheet (let's call it RESULTS) I'm trying to create a summary of all the Site Names where the Year Initiated = "2004" and the Status = "Active". There will be multiple occurences where this is true.
I then want to create further results where the year = 2005, 2006, etc., etc. I've been trying to use the INDEX function with variations of MATCH, SMALL, ROW, etc., etc., but so far, no luck.
Advanced Filtering is not an option as I need to do further manipulating of the results on the RESULTS worksheet.
Meaning. Cell A1 (A) gets a match then checks in the same row on column two matching with another table B1 (2).. if both cells in both columns are matched, then C1 (55) will be returned. =INDEX(C:C;MATCH(A1;A:A;0);MATCH(A2;B:B;0)). I can sort the whole table and use vlookup, but how can i make it without sorting ?
In a nutshell, I have data that needs to be sorted but some intermediate to advanced (to me) excel formula needs to be used to sort the ranking properly. I've already used index, match and large but it does not suffice.
I've been trying to edit my index formula to only count an order number once even if the criteria for that result appear more than once. Attachment 324723
I have a table with Dynamic Headings and Expanding rows, that's setup like below: The formula in the Qty column would produce a "0", if the result of the Index Match has a blank. For example in a different table the reference cell would have "Heading3". Therefore the results in the Qty column would be like example below. The products in the table below are like 0's and 1's to trigger the formula to calculate with the variables, or give a zero. If the Index Match found "Heading2" the results would be based on cells under "Heading2 Column" etc.
I am building somewhat of a rudimentary search engine that looks for a name, address or unique identifier, using an Index Match formula that searches with a wild card:
=INDEX(Name,MATCH("*"&F3&"*",Name,0))
"Name": is the defined name for column C on a separate sheet. F3: is "search field"
The current formula (above), only returns the first match. The source data is only 927 lines so not overly large. I would like to have an additional page that will show the potential results from the wildcard search via a formula. Therefore needing results; 2, 3, 4, 5 etc. from the Index Match. I have searched high and low for solutions but I have found none in regards to retrieving multiple results from a wildcard search, only on a specific term.
I am trying to match data from 2 independent sets, formatted slightly differently so not sure which function would work best for me. From the attached file, I am trying to match the date and time stamp (in cell A1) with that from the other data (in this example in cell E1) and return the data (from cell F1) to cell C1. So basically any date and time stamp before 04/03/09 04:00 will return a value of 44 (this value should appear, therefore in cells C1 - C30)
I am working on a spreadsheet where I need to have data from different sheets added but based on the instructor whose data I want to see in the summary sheet. I want to be able to type the name of the instructor in a cell and have all of the data appear below. I believe that an index match formula would work, but I do not know how to have the data from the different sheets added nested in the formula.
I have a project that has several worksheets of "summarized" data all pulled from one worksheet. The data worksheet is run through an external program and pasted into the workbook to update the information.
To this point I have used tons of index match array formula's to pull the information but I've found this to be extremely inefficient because there are hundreds if not thousands of formulas, and it takes several minutes to update. The file is also around 3MB which is way too big.
I was thinking about using VBA to simplify the worksheets, but then I came across an article about D_Functions and I'm thinking they may be the solution to my problems.
However there is one catch...I'm not sure how I would build these formulas to work in my worksheets. I understand the principle behind the D_Functions, but I can't seem to grasp the concept of integration and making it work in my scenario.
I've attached an example of this workbook, it has most of the forumla's deleted out to reduce the file size, but it should give you an idea of what I'm doing. Once you open it you'll have to unhide some columns to get to the nitty gritty of the sheet.
Feel free to take a gander...I'm open to any suggestions you may have at this point (except to trash the whole project hehehehe ). If you find a solution please explain the concept behind it. I really want to learn how to make this work rather than plugging in someone elses formulas.
I have a worksheet named "List" with static values in columns A & B. I want to search all the other worksheets in the same workbook for the one that matches the value I entered in column B on the "List" sheet. The cell on the other worksheets with the possible match is B5. When it finds a match, I want it to take the data from cell B3 on that worksheet and paste it in Column C of the "List" sheet on the corresponding row (all rows in the "List" sheet have a different value in Column B).
In other words, when "List"b7 = worksheetb5 , then worksheetb3 is pasted to Listc7.
I want to locate the corresponding acct number between worksheets “primary_data” and “qty_movement” and once a match is found (from acct worksheet) then copy over the acct numbers and the share data to the results page. If there is no match I don’t want anything copied to the results page, just ignore that data on either worksheet “primary_data” or “qty_movement”.
•Both ranges on “primary_data” and “qty_movement” worksheet are variable, as accts are left off or kept on depending on the daily activity so the ranges are never set. •I need to concatenate on “primary_data” worksheet cells A&B&C to get acct number •concatenate on “qty_movment” worksheet cells B&C (need to keep zeros in front of actual numbers for acct number reasons) •these accts need to be cross referenced as the accounts on the “acct” worksheet (pre-populated with corresponding acct numbers that never change and will always be on that worksheet) •If a match is found on the “acct” sheet then I would like it to either replace the acct so they match on both worksheets or just to recognize those accounts correspond with each other and do the below. •then take the 2 concatenated acct numbers off of “primary_data” and “qty_movement” in the I cells and copy them over to the “results” worksheet as well as the share data from “primary_data (column E)” and “qty_movement(Column D)” and then compare the 2 share amounts on “results(column E)”
i need to elaborate on anything, the attached sample sheet shows what i want to do, but without any formulas or code.
I've 1 master file with event info (dates, times, categories, prices etc). I have another file to track sales which uses index match to pull data from the master file (stored on a server) instead of double entering.
Upon opening the sales file, all the index match cells are blank until opening the master file, even after saving.
Is there a way to make the file retain all the data it pulls without setting manual calculation (manual spreads like a virus to other user's files - finance manager almost killed me last time)
I currently have a macro button set up to open/close the master file, but if I try to filter/sort the data without the master file open it all disappears again.
I have the first sheet named "DPF" where I have a column "Date", "FIT", "Group" On my second Sheet named "Tracker" what I do want to do:
I select a date for example 18-07-2014 (Cell E3), if cell E4 I Have "Fit" and F4 "Group" In C6 I have E3-15, to get the date minus 15 days (03-07-2014) In C7 I have E3-12 (06-07-2014) and so on
What I want is, if the date of today is C6 or C7 or whatever, use the index match function to get the number corresponding to the date chosen (18-07-2014) for the FIT. But, once I get the figure, I want to keep it, because with the if function, once we are the 4th of July, the figure for C6 disappears...
So either a macro to copy the specific data into another sheet or a another way to keep it. Because the idea as the end is to do different scenario based on the result got per period..
Rows 1 and 2 (range: A1:CM2) within Spreadsheet X contain the range of data that I need.
Within Spreadsheet Y, Row 6 will change monthly and will be input by the user. The value in Row 6 equals the data in Row 2 in worksheet X.
I need to put a formula in row 4 of spreadsheet Y that returns the value of Row 1 in Spreadsheet X.
Unfortunately, I cannot change the spreadsheet layout, otherwise I could do an HLOOKUP formula using Spreadsheet Y Row 6 and Spreadsheet X Row 2 and be done with it. I assume that I need to use an Index-Match formula, which I am not as familiar with. In addition, all of the online support I have found explains Index-Match with data in columns, not rows.
I have 2 worksheets, A and B. In both worksheets there is common data in column A (account ID). I would like to find a way to return all of the data for the matching row in worksheet B and have it pasted into the matching row in worksheet A.
So in the example below, I am looking for a function that will match on Account ID in both worksheets and then paste the results from Dataset 1, 2 and 3 into the row with the matching Account ID in worksheet A.
Worksheet A Account ID Column to paste matching rows from Worksheet B
1
2
Worksheet B Account ID Dataset 1 Dataset 2 Dataset 3
In the attached sheet, i have data in 2 sheets in the same fromat. Both the sheets are seperate reports.
Coloumn A is the list of Team Ids, Coloumn B is the Ids of people who are assigned in the team. Sheet 2 also have the same details with changes in the people ID.
i am trying to find if the people IDs in report 1 is the same in report 2. i need a formula that will check if the people ID is matching to the same team ID as in report 1.. If its not the same, the formula should be able to show that.
eg :
In report 1, "197595" in coloumn B is against "4011-11341" in Coloumn A.
I need to check if "197595" is against "4011-11341" or some other number in report 2. If "197595" is not against "4011-11341" in report 2, it should show me " Miss match". if "197595" is is against "4011-11341" in report 2 as well, it should show me "match"Project match.xlsx
I'm trying to build an Index-Match formula to retrieve a number from a "data" sheet onto a "summary" sheet. In example spreadsheet, I need to retrieve the stock price on a specific row from "data" sheet, and as an alternative, the most recent price.
I have sheet full of data containing results of multiple tests on various equipment. The sheet contains many columns of data but below are the specifc criteria i want to use to extract the data. As maintenance is carried out regularly the list is always growing. I want to create a dashboard summary of the "Machines" which i will colour using condition formatting. I will list the machines in the columns and would like the rows below each machine to be populated with the results.
Column 1 Lists the various factories Column 2 Lists the Machine Column 3 Lists the Part Column 4 Lists the result.
Results can either be "ok", "warning", "Alert" only
I need a little coaching on big data. I have two reports, one from a production system the other from the invoicing system. I need to reconcile the two reports to ensure our invoicing ties out to production. At this time I am focusing on 1 particular item code, but there are potentially hundreds of item codes.
I have 1 Item Code. I have a around a hundred invoices. (Sample 100) I have a few hundred different customers. (Sample 100) I have several hundred lines of billing data. (Sample 650) I have several thousand lines of production data. (Sample 40,000) In the billing system, per invoice I might have 1 or more billing lines for this item, usually no more than 2. In the production system, per invoice I might have 5 to 50 or more production lines for this item per invoice.
Example Prod System: 30 lines of data has a run amount and a total run amount for each line.
I am looking for tools to reconcile this data. VLookup and Index/Matching is not cutting it. VLOOKUP does not move beyond the first line found. Index/Matching wants to add all the prod together. I can get subtotals easy enough. I have tried Concatenation, but when it takes multiple production data lines to equal 1 billing line, this does not work. I needs some thing that can look at the Qty on a billing invoice and tie it out to various lines of production data to identify which production jobs went on that line of the invoice.
Here is a sample. These are fairly easy to resolve, but others are not so easy due to number of production and billing rows.
Invoice number Billing item Est. Quantity Actual quantity Billable Qty Sales order Position number Sequence Agreement Billing source Description Total Billable Qty
