Excel 2010 :: Pivot Table Reference Is Not Valid When Moving Data And Pivot Table Together?

Mar 19, 2013

On a worksheet, I created:

- a list of data
- a pivottable based on these data

When moving this worksheet this worksheet to another workbook, the pivot table can't refresh anymore. This throws an error message "Reference is not valid". To work around this problem I need to adapt the datasource. The same occurs if the list and the pivot table are on separate sheet, with the added strange behaviour that, when data an PT are split, it is not possible to move both sheet together.

This would not be a big issue if my problem had to be solved manually. The real problem is that I need to move the sheets from a C# program.

Cells Outside Pivot Table

May 24, 2006

I have a pivot table setup on two sheets. All cells that are outside the pivot table has the color filled with blue for appearance. All cells inside the table are normal (white w/gridlines). The problem is that when the pivot table data changes (data reduces) then I'm left with some white spots that now need to be blue. Is there a way to incorporate some code with the refresh that will fill the cells outside the pivot table with blue?

VBA - Adjust Pivot Table Included Fields To Match Another Pivot Table

Mar 14, 2013

I have a worksheet with two pivot tables, one of which is visible to the user. Ideally, the user should be able to change the "Row Label" field settings of the visible pivot table and then press an "update button" that then adds the same field to the second pivot table.

Ideally, the ordering of the fields should also be made similar between the two tables, though this is of less priority.

I imagine it would be something in the style of:

"If number of Pivot1 active row label fields = X then
Pivot 2.AddRowLabelField = Pivot1.RowLabelField(X)
end if"

Pivot Table Should Have No Blank Cells

Feb 25, 2008

How do I make sure that my pivot table has no blank cells?

For instance if I have a store with more then 1 barcode of sales against it it will give me the store once at the top left cell of the first column and then the list of barcodes in the column next to it.

I want the store name to appear next to each barcode. Pivot tables make vlookups a pain in the arse to do and I'm sick of having to get around that by copying the pivot table into a blank sheet as values then using the autofilter to filter the blanks and use an ='theabovecell' formula to fill the blanks for all of the columns one by one.

Copy Pivot Table Cells In New Worksheet

Dec 27, 2012

I need to copy certain values of multiple pivot tables of different worksheets into a new worksheet.

To be more clear I attached an example worksheet:

In "Sheet1_pivot table" and "Sheet2_pivot table" I have two pivot table with data divided by Area, Year, quarter and month.
In "Table" i have a summary table where, depending on the values of cell B2, B3 and B4, the summary table has different values copied from the 2 pivot tables.

I was thinking of a code like this but i have problems getting the values from the pivot tables

VB:
Sub else_if()
If Range("B2") = "North" And Range("B3") = "October" Then
ElseIf Range("B2") = "South" And Range("B3") = "October" Then

Pivot Table Blank Cells (eliminate #DIV/0)

Jan 28, 2010

I have a pivot table that compares year-on-year sales data for accounts. If an account didn't have sales for the earlier year, the custom calculation errors #DIV/0! which I can show as at the account level. Problem is at the subtotal levels, I also get the error when I should be getting a value for the group. The error for the one account is affecting my subtotal.

Is there a way I can Show Empty Cells as a VALUE instead of TEXT of say... 0.001 so I can eliminate the error messages?

Excel 2007 :: Concatenate Cells From Pivot Table

Feb 8, 2011

I have a pivot table that summarizes jobs that need to be completed on a specified date. I need to put that information on a calendar, but I would like to concatenate all information from that date so I can do a vlookup from the calendar. My other problem is that the number of cells change for each date, so I cannot specify exact cells, (some only have 1 entry, but others may have 4 or more). Can I specify a range of cells based on the result of the pivot table?

I have attached the pivot table, calendar and the data sheet with the vlookup info. Am I using the proper calendar or method to find this info?I have struggled with this for over a week now.

Format Cells Based On Values In Pivot Table

Dec 23, 2009

I have a pivot table and next to it I added some calculations which are based on data from the table. In my "real" file, the cells next to the PT are formatted with conditional formatting based on other values in the sheet (see attached sample file). What I now need to do is add borders to the cells in columns D:G only if the cells in B5 and downwards are not empty. I have tried doing it with conditional formatting but there are some other rules which contradict this setting.

The idea is to make the cells in columns D:G look like they are a natural extension on the PT. However, the table can grow or shrink (in length) and I want to see borders only around cells that are on the same rows as the data in column B (staring with B5). I think that whatever solution you can provide (if you can...) should be based a workbook_change event, because in my real file, the length of the table is changed whenever I select a different page of the PT.

Conditional Formatting To Apply To All Cells In A Column In Pivot Table

Apr 25, 2014

I am having trouble getting some conditional formatting to apply to all cells in a column in a pivot table. Currently, the conditional formatting is only applying to the top level items in the pivot but is not applying to the lower level items. I can see why it is doing this. the range in "Applies to" is only specifying the rows that contain the top level items. I tried to change the range to D10:D647 but, it reverts back to just the top level items. How to get it to apply to everything?

Months To Be Sorted In Ascending Order In Pivot Table, Want To Use Multiple Colors In Pivot Charts

Moving Table Data Between Worksheets

Apr 11, 2008

I am trying to convert a workbook that we commonly use from worksheet functions over to VBA. Looking to use controls (buttons and such) to automate the tasks which functions used to do.

Most I figured out on my own, but there is one that is giving me some problems.

I have a worksheet page that queries data from an external database. I need to take this data and move it to another sheet with the correct formating and calculations. (see attached sample workbook. Sheet 2 is the database info and sheet 1 is where I need to move it to.)

Since the database data will have a variable number of rows, I need to do the following with a button:

1. If a row from sheet 2 contains data,
- Move the 'wonum' value from sheet 2 to the 'W/O' column on sheet 1
- Move the 'description' value from sheet 2 to the 'Name' column on sheet 1
- Move the 'wopriority' value from sheet 2 to the 'Pri' column on sheet 1
- Move the 'laborhrs' value from sheet 2 to the 'Hrs' column on sheet 1

(here is where it gets tricky)

- If values for 'targstartdate' and 'targcompdate' on sheet 2 are the same, then insert the 'laborhrs' value from sheet 2 into the correct day of the week column (minus 1) on sheet 1

(for instance if a database record's start and end date are both '4/13/2008' and the 'laborhrs' value is 3.00, then place 3.00 in the cell corresponding to the column labled '4/12/08' on sheet 1)

- If values for 'targstartdate' and 'targcompdate' on sheet 2 are not equal, then the 'laborhrs' value must be equally divided by the number of days difference and placed on the date columns on sheet 2 that correspond to all of the days (minus 1) that fall in that date range.

I filled out 2 of the rows on sheet 1 to give an example of what I am looking for.

Insert A Row With A Macro On A Moving Table?

Jan 27, 2010

I'm trying to create a macro that will allow me to insert two rows to extend two separate tables. The problem is that one table needs to be directly below the other. So if the number of additional rows exceeds the margin between the two tables, the macro will just be inserting two rows into the top table.

I guess I'm looking for a way to get the macro to insert a row, not at a specific row number, but at the first row of the bottom table, which will change as rows are added to the top table.

Pivot Table - Loop Through Pivot Item Children?

Jan 7, 2014

I'm not grasping the Pivot Table correctly. I've written code to create a sum of values based on a worksheet. Specifically:LocationIDDeptSum of Hours Worked. Location, ID and Dept are rows. This effectively provides the aggregate values that I need based on the row groupings. Here's where this is falling apart. I need to create a new worksheet based on these values. I assumed the three row values - Location, ID and dept - would be in a hierarchy. It's possible they are, I just can't figure out the object model.

When I loop through the PivotItems collection of the PivotFields("Location"), I get what I need. However, I'm unable to determine how to loop through the child values (just for that location). PivotFields("ID") returns all IDs. I can't figure out how to return only the child entries for each pivot item. GetPivotData hasn't been very useful for this. As far as I can tell, GetPivotData, while its return type is listed as Range, throws an error when more than one cell is returned. Worst case, I suppose I can just parse the data in the DataBodyRange of the pivot table - maybe not, I haven't tried that. I'm hoping there's a way to iterate through these collections, but based on what I've seen from Google searches, there may not be. Does my pivot table need to be rearranged? I suppose I could also just dump this data into a data table
