Paste Formula To Numeric Cells Only

Oct 18, 2007

I am looking for macro to paste this formula: [abc.xls] Total BA def'!E12-'[NEW abc.xls]Total BA def'!E12. into any cell that contains a numerical value. the cell reference would change to correspond with each cell it is pasted into. just like it does in excel when absolutes are NOT used. If possible i would not want it to affect any cells that contain headers which would only have letters in them. If this is not possible it would still be worth having the macro replace everything with something in it and i could just replace the headers from an original file.

For example in my case, I want to replace the value in G column (highlighted in red) by the value from J column (cells that on the same row as the values highlighted in red). For those values in B column that originally start with M180, i want it to be untouched. Right now I dont know what formula should i use.

Copy A Formula And Paste Into Adjoining Cells

Oct 27, 2008

We have many spreadsheets in my lab. We have been using them for YEARS. Two days ago we ran into a bizarre problem. If we copy a formula and paste into adjoining cells we get the following

Init Values Formula copied & Pasted Results in B column
A column B Column
10 =A1* 10 100
15 =A2*10 100
20 =A3*10 100

If you copy Range("B1") and Paste it to Range("B2:B3") you get 100, 100, 100 NOT 100, 150, 200. If you click on range("B2") it says =A2*10 but the value 150 does not appear in the cell. If you manually type a formula into each line, the results are what one would expect. If I open a new workbook, copying and pasting works as always.

Macro To Paste Formula Into Range Of Cells

I need to paste this formula

=AVERAGEIFS(A1:A1000;A1:C1000;"0";A1:A1000;"A1001") into range of cells so the changes relatively to its position e.g. in column B it will look like this

=AVERAGEIFS(B1:B1000;B1:C1000;"0";B1:B1000;"B1001") The macro I recorded will paste formula where I need, but all references remain the same. What should I do to make them change?

Paste As Values To Each Of The Cells In The Above To Convert The Formula To A Static Value

PHP     For Each C In Sheets("data").Range("A2", Range("A2").End(xlDown))
            C.Offset(0, 5).FormulaR1C1 = "=IF((RIGHT(RC[-1],3)=""ago""),RC[-1],"""")"

What I want to do is Paste As Values to each of the cells in the above to convert the formula to a static value,. Is there a simple bit of code I can include in the above loop, instead of doing a Selection.Copy Selection.PasteValues etc over the range?

Selection Of Rows Using Only Numeric Value Found Out By Formula

Jul 16, 2013

The following is how my sample worksheet looks like:

A
10

Count of A's
12

A
1

Count of B's
13

A
24

[code].....

The two count cells, Count of A's & Count of B's have been calculated with the formulas

=COUNTIF(A$1:A$25,"=A") and =COUNTIF(A$1:A$25,"=B") respectively.

Now, my problem is I want to select the cells with only A's or only B's, along with their corresponding values, but I want to select it with the two count values I found above (12 and 13 respectively), because the data I have to work on is subject to change and each time there may be different numbers of A's and B's.

Move Numeric Cells From X Columns

I have 2 large rows of data next to each other imported from a different programme. Some of the cells in these 2 rows consist of values, some consist of words. I only want to cut the cells with values in these rows and paste them in a new row, called TXid. I have written VB code that cuts all the data in the rows and pastes them onto the new row. Now I would like to cut only the values in the row. How do I select only the values in the cell?

Cells.Select
Cells.EntireColumn.AutoFit
Range("I1").Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "TXid"
Range("G3").Select
Do
If ActiveCell = IsNumber = True Then
Selection.Cut Selection.Offset(0, 2)
End If
ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Select
Loop Until ActiveCell = ""
Range("H3").Select
Do
If ActiveCell = Isnumber = True Then
Selection.Cut Selection.Offset(0, 1)
Loop Until ActiveCell = ""

The ActiveCell = Isnumber = true is not working the way I want it to.

Finding A Non Numeric (or Numeric) Character In A Field

Sep 1, 2008

I have a few thousand products codes (i.e ABCD123BLA08 or SHU267BLA) They are non standardised in length or structure. I wish to pull out everything upto the end of the third numeric digit.( ie ABCD123 and SHU267) I cannot use left as they are all different lengths. Ideally i would serach for a non numeric char after the number then use left up to that point. Search can't do this, FIND can't do this.

Summary
ABCD123BLA08 would be ABCD123
SHU246BLU would be SHU246
I147ORT08-12 would be I147

Copy Text To Cell And Convert To Numeric Formula

One other question, is there a way to enter a template for entry in a cell. It would be nice if the text value above would take care of the parenthesis and multiplication signs for me.

Explanation For Formula That Counts Number Of Numeric Characters

Nov 21, 2012

The formula below was posted recently as a way to extract a numeric substring from somewhere in larger string. When I first saw this formula, how it "came up with the goods" and so I spent some time looking at parts of it to see what they did.

Although I've made some progress, I still don't fully understand it. Heres the formula, and below Ive detailed how far I've got:

=Iferror(lookup(9.99e+307,--mid(a1,min(find({1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0},a1&1234567890)),row(indirect("1:"&len(a1))))),0)

I hope my findings below are correct:

1. The formula is returning the first substring of contiguous numeric characters from the full string in Cell A1
2. 9.99e + 307 ensures that the search value won't be exceeded by the returned value.
3. The Mid function uses Min(Find( to get the character position of the first numeric in A1 (so MID then has its first 2 parameters). So far so good.
4. Now... I cant work out where MID parameter 3 (the substring length) comes from. I suspect its the row function, but can't see how as this isn't an array formula, and without CTRL+Shift+ Enter, I could only get Row to return 1 in my experiments (giving me only the first substring digit).

How does the formula return the correct number of numeric characters, (apparently) without counting them?

Using Sum Product On Cells With Numeric And Text Values

May 29, 2013

I'm trying to find out exactly how I can use sum product on cells that have text and numeric values. Here's my sample data (6 points):

TN FX1576 20, TN FX1577 25, AZ FX1577 30, AZ FX1577 35, FW FX 1577 40, and FW 1577 45.

I wish to do the following: I want to sum all of the right numeric values based on the first two text values(TN, AZ, or FW). I want to sum these numbers to their respective total cells at the top of the page. So far I can sum the numeric values fine using the following formula: =sumproduct((right(range,2)*1) but when I try to differentiate between the respective locations (AZ, TN, or FW) I get an error message.

Attached is an example of what I'm trying to do along with the formula I'm currently using and yellow shading to represent where I want my respective sums to go.
