i need a code which looks for empty cells in the selection and puts "');" in the cell above it. If the cells above the empty one already have content that should be deleted and "');" should be pasted there instead. I need to put this symbol combination above all empty cells in my selection.
View 13 RepliesI seem to be lost in some macro-coding... I have this folder with pictures, and I want to display them as comments, by a macro. So far I have control. But then, if there is a picture that is missing, or if there is a cell that is empty in the selection, everything seems to stop.
the macro I use is very simple, but when everything is in place, its working:

Is it possible to make the macro run even if there are wholes, or if some pics are not store in the folder yet?
Is it possible to make the area "unlimited", as you see its now limited from 3 To 50.
And is it possible to make this run automatically, kind of checking the folder on its own to see if there is new pics?
I wrote some code that toggles bewtweeen the word "Yes" and the function clearcontents.
What it does not do, is if you click on cell A1 and change it's contents and you click on the same cell again it does nothing. You need to click on another cell say A2 before you can go and change A1 again.

I'm having some trouble getting a private sub to initiate and I'm sure it's because I don't have a target specified.
The first part of code puts a checkmark into a cell if it is clicked and that initiates another code called "BUILDER":

If my cursor is in A1 and I want to select all non-empty cells in that column, what is the VBA code that will do that?
(I'm a beginner and have tried recording a macro and inspecting the code, but that always gives me a specific number of cells to select, while I want it to vary by the number of cells that have values. )

The macro I have is looping all sheets looking for empty cells in a specific column, and when it founds an empty cell the value for one cell is copied to the empty cell.
But in one worksheet it stops with the error:

1) 4 values contains in each row based on the values from those cells the max value will display.
2) if more than 2 cells have empty,NR or NA text means the entire row has to delete.

I tried very hard to design a leave roster for user to mark their leave application. The criteria are as follows:
1. 4 applications per date
2. a region of worksheet (i.e. "A2 to H20) will be defined for users to "click" on the cells (within the defined region) to mark their application.
3. once a cell is clicked (i.e. marked), it cannot be altered.
4. each click will automatically increase the total by 1.
I got the following code to deal with the situation but user can still click on any cell outside the region (in fact I fail to define the region).

I'm trying to build an investment calculator. Tried searching "calculator" as keyword but return nothing similiar.
There are eight cell : [ A ][ B ][ C ][ D ][ E ][ F ][ G ][h]
[ H ] is price of the leverage
[A] is X balance
[b] is X lot size
[C] is X amount of money use to get x lot
[D] is X percentage of money use to get x lot
[E] is X point gain
[f] is X money gain
[G] is balance + money gain
Ignore the formulae for leverage to determine 1 lot price. Take 1 lot = 250.
What I'm looking for is when I enter any value at cell B, C or D, it will automatically calculate the value for either B, C or D cell.
Let say, the balance is 10000.
If I enter 2 at cell B. Then, it will calculate the value for cell C & D.
If I enter 750 at cell C, then it will calculate value for cell B & D.
If I enter 25 at cell D, it will calculate value for cell B & C.
how to use OR Selection in excel.
When I look at the cell: wsEmpRec.Cells(10,50).Value in the VBA Watch window the value is Empty. I mean, that's the actual word that shows up. I'm trying to test if there is a value in the cell but when I use: if wsEmpRec.Cells(10,50).Value = "" then the condition is not being met. How can I test for an Empty cell as opposed to a cell that contains an empty string?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a workbook with two sheets. The idea behind the workbook is an Interview Guide to be used just before an Interview. For now my problem is this.
Sheet 2 "Competencies" is just data. It stores competencies with their associated definitions and questions.
Sheet 1 "Control Page" is the sheet where the questions will eventually go. The user (Interviewer) will input data on the first two pages which will include name of candidate, date of interview etc. but they will also select 5 Competencies from the already existing drop down menus on page two. From there as the selections are made I wish for a code to copy the corresponding definition on sheet 'Competencies" to cells lower down in sheet "Control page".
I don't see a place to upload a file as I have a sample of the sheet ready to go.
I am trying to populate the 2 tables from excel to word. I will be getting the excel file with tables in various sheets. One sheet consist of 2 tables that will be inserted to one word document. So if there are 2 sheets then I will have the tables inserted in the 2 word document. In the excel sheet I have attached, there are 2 sheets with tables in each of them. I have written the code to copy and paste the table to word doc from (general) range A1:G4 (Table 1) and A9:H18 (Table 2) that has empty rows and columns selected. But there are empty rows and columns inserted since the table range is not same sheetwise. I would like get the empty rows and columns deleted in the word table.

If there is no values in the rows in the Department sheet, then i need to hide the rows in my sheet. How to code this in VBA. When they add values to the rows then i should make the rows visble here. If the selection in the "Index" worksheet combo box related to "Month" in cell G19 is for instance "December", I would like the macro to compare this cell value to the cell values in cells C96, C124, C152, C180, C209, C236, C263 and C290 in the "Tech Services" worksheet and where the values match.......copy the commentary (Range C126:Z147 in December's case) to the range C34:Z55.

What I desire is to fill the BLANK cells around the tag, A1:D1 + D1:D19 + A1:D19 + A1:19 in a certain color based on the text value of the cell B11. There are 5 different values, such that if the B11 read Red Sox - the boarder is going to be red, if it reads Houston Astros it will be dark blue, etc..
I have a similar problem with changing the color of the cell based on the month. So regardless of the year, 2014, 2015, 2016, etc... If I use MONTH() function I can just get numbers from 1-12. I want Cell C16-C18 to be certain color depending the date entered in cell C17 such that for each quarter, months 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 they are different color.
I have had no luck with conditional formatting (and I also believe that it is good up to 3 cases only). I am decent in logic/programming language but have little knowledge with macro notation and especially how to run them in excel 2013. I do know how to start it alt+F11 and that I need to make sure that code is written under the specific sheet where my tag is located.
I've got a range of data in Column D approx 50,000 rows long and I need to go down this range and when theres a blank cell copy the info from the cell above. I've got some code which loops through this but I need to make sure I put "EOF and the bottom of the info to stop the loop. Is there a slicker way of writing this code?

I am using a worksheet to scan or enter students into a school event and determine their eligibility to participate in the event. Everything is working great but I need to do the following on Enter Student button click:
1) Cut scanned value (ID number) from input Cell A1
2) Paste value into next empty cell in column A (Rows build as students are inputted)
3) Copy Eligibility status (text) from column F into A6
I have a limited VBA/Macro background and have NEVER got a button to work.
How to format a cell to be normal color unless cell left of it is not empty and this cell is empty.
And I need to format whole sheet to this rule.
Is it possible to make a cell "really" blank/empty based on an If statement? For instance:
=if(a1>10,a1,"")
Has a value_if_false of "". But Excel interprets this a bit differently than a cell that never had anything typed into it.
So if you have a column full of this formula copied down, and hit <control+down arrow>, you will go straight to the bottom and skip over all rows. Whereas if you have a column with values and empty cells alternating and hit <control+down arrow>, you will only skip the empty cells and go to the next value. Excel treats the conditionally empty cells as if they have a value, when it comes to this type of navigation. This holds even if you copy and paste "Values" for the cells over the formulas.
Is there any way to tell Excel to make the cells truly empty?

Is there anyway to convert the "" values to back to an empty cell without anything in it (i.e not text "", but empty as it was originally). I find that the file sizes are very large, when using this function, as data (although blank) is stored in each cell (i know this, because if I use cntr+arrow, it sees it as data, and not an empty area). I don't want to manually go through each cell and delete them as there is quite a bit of data (10000 rows , 2 columns, 30 tabs)
I wrote an IF AND formular to display "Yes" for a cell with zero. but when the cell is also empty, it still returns a "Yes" instead of empty.
this is the formular:
=IF(J2=3,"Yes",IF(AND(E2="",I2=0),"Yes","No"))
when I2 = 0 it returns Yes
Also with I2 = "", it still returns "Yes" instead of "No"
