I want to count the nr of words in cell without counting the repeated words. For example, in "this is a ball and that is a square", the total nr of words is 9, and the total nr of non-repeated words is 7, because "is" and "a" are repeated twice, and I just want to count it once.
Per the table below, I compute how many months to average project costs over, establish month in which the costs begin, and these accumulate in the work in progress (WIP) end columns, however in the month the final stage (to hit 100%) of costs are complete, the project is invoiced and the WIP is released - Noting the month in which the last costs are incurred are not added to total to reverse out. The 3 projects and final columns demonstrate the different scenarios and the results I would expect to see, I just can't formulate anything to release the previous months WIP without it repeating the negative for the rest of the year - if that makes sense?
I have the regular headers in the first row, followed by rows containing my data. And at x number of rows, a new row containing headers appear again, followed by rows containing data. This goes on for the rest of report. What I need to do is remove the rest of the headers and lines because I only need to have one header in the first row.
Note that the header takes up two rows (one for the actual headers and one for the ====== lines. So removing the repeated headers is removing 2 rows.
For eg, part of the report looks like this:
PRODUCT PRODUCT NAME ==============================================12342EXAMPLE PRODUCT 122525EXAMPLE PRODUCT 2 35476EXAMPLE PRODUCT 3 53467EXAMPLE PRODUCT 4 PRODUCT PRODUCT NAME ==============================================135892EXAMPLE PRODUCT 5
I have a table with some reapeated words in, I wondered if anyone had any methods of counting words and displaying the total in number format. for example if I had in cell A1-Hello and A2-Hello and A3-Bye how can I get Hello = 2 and Bye =1
Spaces after entries keep messing up my VLOOKUPS. I get a lot of data from other people and when they have entered the information in some of the entries have a space after the word which mess up the results of my vlookups. Is there an easy way of going through and removing spaces after a word? Not all the words have spaces after them.
I have a column that is filled with various car brands that a dealership might sell. The data in the cell may look like CHRYSLER; CHRYSLER; CHRYSLER which I would want to just say CHRYSLER. If the cell says CHRYSLER; FORD; CHRYSLER; FORD I want it to just say CHRYSLER; FORD.
how to cut a string from text and copy it to another cell: Example of a TEXT:..........................
This is Text in one cell - I need to cut the BOLD part. It always ( if appears ) is after statement <b>Kod Producenta</b>: and before <br/> It's not always in the same place. but always between statment above. "<b>Kod Producenta</b>: STRING_THAT_NEED_TO_BE_COPIED_TO_DIFFERENT_CELL <br/>" how can i do it with VBA macro? with cpp would be so much easier but still i need to do this in VBA...
I have excel data containing in column A "Plot number" which is repeated and other four column is land area and the next column is "Land Owner Name". Now I want to merge same plot no if the land area is same if differ then I want to leave as it is. And another thing I want to do that the all land owner name is merge in a row.
I have a column of words in Column A and I want to replace all the times that these words appear in the rest of the excel sheet with the words in Column B. If someone has already answered a similar problem link me to the thread because I can't find anything.
I've been using conventional method to do this and it's time consuming. I would like to total up 2 column. A multiply B to be exact. Below are some examples:
Table 1 - Before totaling up:
Quantity Product 5 2 x Button A White 3 4 x Button B Pink 4 5 x Ribbon A Black 2 3 x Thread A White 6 2 x Cloth A Blue
Table 2 - After totaling up:
Quantity Product 10 Button A White 12 Button B Pink 20 Ribbon A Black 6 Thread A White 12 Cloth A Blue
I need to have the sum of the "Quantity" multiply "Product". Or in short A x B. And the end result need to have the number and "x" sign removed while keeping on the the products names. (2 x ) Take note it's "number" space "symbol" space.
I am trying to find certain words in a column and delete the word and characters following. For example, Say I have a column of info as seen below. This is a test of me. I am just experimenting with this stuff. Deleted (6/15/01) Let me know what you think. I am not sure about it all, but I guess I will figure it out. riviledge1 (01/05/06) Now let's see what happens when I try to test it.
I want to find all the "Priviledge1 (01/05/06)" and replace with nothing. Please note, the date will change with each record, so I need to figure out how to tell Excel to find "Priviledge1", delete it and the date behind it. So I want to delete "Priviledge1" and the next 11 characters including the space.
On to the topic, I have all the US and Canadian states abbreviated (CO = Colorado, etc.) and was wondering if there is a way to make all of them convert to their respective names in one fell swoop instead of writing it in for each one, one at a time. Something along the lines where I can make, CO = Colorado, TX = Texas and then hit enter and all of the abbreviations would convert. Some kind of command.
I want to sort on number of words, i.e. if a cell contains 1 or 2 words etc, with the cells containing 1 word coming first then cells containing 2 words. Also, if possible, first the cells with fewer characters.
I have tried Sumproduct and Countif and can not get a proper count of rows that contain specific words in multiple columns. I have attached an example spreadsheet where I am looking for a result of 7 rows that contain 1 to 4 specific words within phrases. The example looks for the words: "virus", "spyware", "malware" & "adaware", and ignores any other words like "aware" or "ware".
I have 4-5 separate lists of words/letters and I would like to combine them in a certain order but creating all possible combinations resulting a new word. It's like a conjugation tool for verbs. For example if List 1 = be/el/ki/meg; List 2= m List3=e/é; List4= gy/" "; List 5=" "/ek/sz/nnek So the output has to be (if the order is List1+List2+List3+List4+List5)= bemegy/bemegyek/bemegysz/bemesz/bemész/elmegy/elmennek/ ..... and all possible combinations.
Preferentially I would like to automate it in a way that it straight outputs into MS Access. Also can it be automated that it reads the list from a file (database)? (Also can it recognize the word by letters? Because the basic word that I would load the program= List2+List3+List4)
I have a workbook with 30 worksheets. Each sheet has 84 rows of data (start in 15 columns (A to O). I would like to create a summary sheet that only shows the most important data from each sheet.
The summary sheet would have 12 lines of headers and formatted crap at the top. The Summary sheet header columns would be:
Site (A), Date (B) Health (C), Status (D), Critical (E), Task (F), Dependencies (G), Owner (H), T-Date (I), Task Date (J), Mitigation Date (I)
The data in the sheets are not in that order, of course.
That 1. puts the name of the sheet I am copying from in column A 2. the deadline date in Column B (that date is always in C10 of each worksheet) 3. and copies Cells from Column A,B,G,H,I,O in any row in which the value in A is not "good" into columns C through H. I would like to paste those rows into the summary sheet. I have code that loops through the sheets and rows in each sheet to find the rows to copy. I can copy cell values directly from the active sheet to the summary sheet, but because I am copying a cell at a time, it takes 7 minutes. Yes I am impatient :)
Here is the code snippet where the copying is done:
Dim sh As Worksheet 'current worksheet Dim DestSh As Worksheet 'worksheet in which to paste summary Dim Last As Long Dim CopyRow As Long 'row to copy Dim LastCopyRow As Long
Application.Goto Sheets("KMARollup").Cells(1) End Sub
I think there must be a way to use ranges to build an array of cell values and paste only once but I am lost here.
Looking for a formula (not macro) that can do the following:
I have a spreadsheet and in one column, it has last names of clients. In the next column, it has full names of clients that are the same account, but different system with different descriptions for the name. I need to lookup the column that just has last name and see if that last name exist anywhere in the "Full name" column. If it does, then I need column C to say "Yes" or something along those lines.
The "full name" column isn't always in the same format and sometimes doesn't even contain the "last name." Sometimes the last name will be first and sometimes there's a comma and sometimes there isn't a comma. The spreadsheet attached shows a good short example of what I'm working with...
