I need to separate out some rows by date into new worksheets, but I need the dates to be a range. Our cycles are separated into periods, which last about 1 month, so I need one new worksheet for each period. I was thinking about having like a cover sheet that defines the exact dates (like column A has the period title "P1, P2, P3,..." and column B has the start date and column C has the end date).
Then on the next sheet is where I would keep my Input data. So I need to separate the rows of the input data sheet out by the periods. The date for each data entry is kept in column M. I have attached a sample workbook explaining what I tried to describe above.
I have two worksheets, the first will have a date as shown in the attached worksheet in cell A2. This would have been pasted as a value from another source. I need this to be seperated and to show as in cells D2 and E2.
Would be ok with either a formula or macro to do this.
I have an interesting problem I've been presented with and rather than try formula after formula I thought I'd propose it to you all (see attached sheet).
I have 7269 rows with 1930 distinct claims. I need to pull out the Primary issue (done that) then across from it put in each and every secondary issue (from col C). The largest # of claim lines is 89 (see E1). So in theory I need to find that claim and put all the secondary issues in the next 89 columns from row 4990 beginning in col H.
I've done a couple examples of what I'm looking for in rows 2, 4 and 5 and 8 but beyond that ...
So every place where there is a value in col F I'd like the list of secondary issues in the same row.
I have an excel sheet that I'm trying to format. Basically, the excel book contains sheets (with the months), and each sheet contains a list of clients, their package, their status, date assigned, and date updated.
I've made another sheet (Sheet2) that fetches everything and consolidating it to one sheet. Sheet 2 also cleans up the data to display only the items that are 'completed'.
The issue I'm having now is in splitting the list (assuming it has been cleaned up to show only the 'completed' items. I would need to split the list first by the date they were updated, and then if they were assigned the same date or not. In short:
--Get all items with date updated = Month1 ----If date assigned = Month 1: List items under table 1 ----If date assigned < Month 1: List items under table 2
I've used macro on the excel (and I'm not sure it's efficient enough. I'm not proficient with VB, so...). I'm not sure if it will work on Mac.
I need to separate multiple values separated by comma in a single cell into individual rows. However, I also need that the data in the adjacent columns of the original cell also to be repeated in the new rows. The problem is illustrated in the attached file.
that the table is just a sample and most of the tables I work with contain at least 15,000 rows,
I have a column within a spreadsheet that has data separated by 2 delimiters, a "" and a "/". (This data has been extracted from a linux-based file.)
For example: "1100789/3200899/6xlm-sgt-455-0987"
The items of data are from a bill of material (parts explosion) and the number preceding the "" is a quantity and the numbers preceding the "/" is a sub-part number of the main part number that is entered into a column to the left of this data string. (unseen in the example)
I need to take this string of numbers and place the quantity in one column, the part number in another column, then add a row and continue to populate each column until the data has all been separated, then move on to the next main part number row to continue the process.
for example: 1 100789 3 200899 6 xlm-sgt-455-0987
Is this possible with the data tools in a spreadsheet, or will I need to write a macro?
I am trying to develope a search macro to go through sheets of a book looking for strings separated by comas in an Inputbox. For example, The data in the inputbox may be inputed as: ahu-1,vav1,erv-2,etc(Number of items may vary). Then to assign variables(range) to each in order to use the "Find" function.
Is it possible to separate a range of cells with numerical values into "n" groups that have equal (or as close to equal as possible) total sums?
Ex. The range A1:A30 includes 30 random numbers between 1 and 12 (obviously there are duplicates). I need excel to auto-generate 6 groups of 5 cells each with each group having the same (again, as close as possible) total sum. Preferably, I'd like the numbers in each group to be similar from top to bottom, but I'm not overly concerned about that.
I'm trying to build a report whereby i collate the first punch in and the last punch out from a set of data.
This is a sample data: 02-May-1409:00 02-May-1419:14 05-May-1409:31 05-May-1419:38 06-May-1409:31 06-May-1412:56 06-May-1413:10 06-May-1420:11 07-May-1408:36 07-May-1412:45 08-May-1408:45 08-May-1412:35 08-May-1413:23 08-May-1419:54
My result should be the following: 02-May-1409:00 02-May-1419:14 05-May-1409:31 05-May-1419:38 06-May-1409:31 ***these cells should be filtered out 06-May-1420:11 07-May-1408:36 07-May-1412:45 08-May-1408:45 ***these cells should be filtered out 08-May-1419:54
On sheet2 Range L4:L2000 I have starting dates entered in mm/dd/yy format. On sheet2 Range M4:M2000 I have finish dates entered in mm/dd/yy format.
On sheet3 I have a numeric value of mmddyy (no brackets) in cell BC4.
What i'm looking to do is if the numeric value on sheet3 BC4 does not fall between the start and finish dates on sheet2, then the entire row should be deleted. Can this be done with the different date formats (Brackets vs no brackets)
I have an Excel file containing data about employees. Each row contains a lot of information that is relevant for a specific date range, denoted by the columns "start date" and "end date". I would like to copy each row so that I have it accessible per date that is within the date range. The only columns that would change in the copy are the date columns. For example, for 1 row that has a date range of 01/08/2013 - 05/08/2013, I want to copy the row 5 times except the date columns become "01/08/2013", "02/08/2013", etc.
In one spreadsheet, I want to have a command button that will hide all rows where the date column (column A) shows a date older than one week from today. When this button is clicked again, all rows will unhide again. Preferably the Command button title would change to reflect whether it is on the hide or show cycle (for example "Click to Hide all older than one week" and then "Click to Show all events") .
This spreadsheet must perform calculations for every line since new items are added every day, so VBA is probably better than copying formulas down every line of the spreadsheet:
With the press of a button, I need to be able to select a range of dates and copy all lines within the range to a seperate sheet with the desired name under the same headings they currently reside under. I have included some modified code that is being used in another spreadsheet that was created for me, but I do not pretent to understand all of it and I no longer work with the creator of the spreadsheet. How do I use a button to open the form for date selections and entering the name of the new sheet, and then use the start button on the form to begin the matching and copying to a new sheet? If there is an easier way I am all for that too.
Also, I need to keep a total of all items by month as well as a monthly and annual average of the Total Item Value on the FY09 tab. This will eventually produce another sheet when a button is pressed to submit as a report. I think part of this answer is in using the MONTH(serial_number) function but I can only get this to work for a single cell. I need to search the entire Distribution 'D' column, match all the months to the FY09 tab to the respective month, and calculate the totals and averages. I think SUMIF may also be needed as well but need the MONTH(serial_number)to work first. If there is a way to code all of this in VBA that would be fine as well.
I have a pivot table on Sheet1 where I am trying to get the totals and averages described above but I am not sure it can do what I need. In column 'B' I need the total number of each item as well as the total number of all items. I tried various formats and adding the totals from the Totals tab but I have not figured it out.
I am now trying to create a excel macro to auto populate all the dates with reference to a start date and end date. The catch is that only working days are required in the range. My reference cells (start and end date) are in Sheet 1 while the destination cell range are in Sheet 2. The reason for creating a macro instead of a function is that the intervals between the start date and end date changes frequently (annual, semi-annual and quarterly) Best case scenario would be a button which I can just press after i input the dates to generate the range of dates in another sheet.
I have a employee travel spreadsheet with air travel dates in two columns. I want to be able to create a rule that will highlight all the cells in a row if the date range on that row fall includes today's date. if someone is traveling in the event there is an emergency and I need to know if they are traveling that particular day. I have attached a sample spreadsheet.
I need to create formulas that reference a single date and output date ranges. The objective is to have a person input a Monday date in any given month and receive a four weeks out worth of dates and ranges. For example: In a lone cell, the person inputs 10/13/08. Automatically, the sheet produces the next full week range: October 19 – October 25 in a single cell and also produces a cell for each date. Example: Sunday 19, Monday 20, Tuesday 21, etc…. It should look like:
and then repeat for three more weeks. I thought I had it figured out until the month changed. The dates continued in October instead of adding a month. This report will be ran weekly, so simply adding a +1MONTH to some cells will not benefit me as I’ll have to change the formula every week. I want the formula to compute the data without any manipulation over the next several years. The only change will be the Monday date.
I need to build a macro which copies 3 rows every day and pastes the row data into an identical sheet. The three rows will have column "D" as =today(). As the days progress the three rows will change accordingly ( tag to the today's date)
e.g. 28/1/2014 28/1/2014 28/1/2014
I need the macro to recognize the date when pressed and copy the corresponding rows of data and paste them into an identical sheet with the same date. The second sheet is an archive sheet. The date will tick over as per the calendar.
I have data in 3 columns: Name, Inclusion Date, Exclusion Date. In some instances, the inclusion date and exclusion date will be zeroed out - I do not wish to count those. What I would like to count is the rows that have an inclusion date, but not an exclusion date. Ideally, I would like to have a code so that when I run a macro a msgbox appears that indicates how many members there are.
I wondering if it's possible to create a code to have a popup where the user can enter a date in mm/dd/yyyy format and then all rows containing that date will be deleted.
I have a form where users can input a Date by utilizing 3 drop down combo boxes. Once they've made their selection that Date gets written to a cell on the worksheet. If for some reason they need to change that Date, they would reopen the form and select a new Day month or year.
I would like the three comboboxes to show the D/M/Y previous written to the worksheet. But I would have to split up the date that has since been concatenated.
I have a spread sheet with thousands of addresses in them.
It does not hold the state however.
I need to separate each part of the address into it's own cell on the same sheet.
Keeping the first part ONLY of the address in the original place the address was in.
However not having the city, or zip in that cell.
For example:
E2 holds the address: 19505 45th Ave. W. Suite A, Lynnwood 90821
(There is always a comma before the city. However sometimes there is another comma before Suite...)
I want the end result to be:
E2: 19505 45th Ave. W. Suite A I2: Lynnwood K2: 90821
Then I would like it to loop through all the address's in the "E" Column until it has edited all the address's. It is sad to say but I have been working on this for over 48 hours... Can't believe no one online hasn't come up with a clear answer on how to do this. At this point I am looking for the code to make this happen in Excel VBA.
I'm having a problem seperating the prices in Colomn H into three seperate cells C,E & G The first figure in c is easy enough if a little long (any possible tidier solutions?) The second Im not happy with it is clumsy using the fixed lenght figure "5" The last I cant figure out probably because Ive done the second incorrectly! Finally I can not see why figures apear in away team.
The first one (Top Ten Auto Generator.xls) ( Sheet is Summary) has 1 row (13) with 4 cells that have data. A13 with date (today formula), B13, D13, and E13 are numbers. The cell range will be the same each time the data is copied (the workbook has a marco to generate the numbers each day already).
The date doesn't need to be copied, just the other 3 cells data (in the same order) using paste special.
The workbook that needs the cell data is a report ( Dashboard.xls) that has lots of different departments each using 3 columns for their specific data. The left most column A is the date listing to match.
The column Range for my department on that "Raw Data" sheet is "H", "I", & "J" where the "H" would get the data in "B13", "I" would get "D13", "J" would get "E13" for the date that matches the other workbook.
So the way it would work, is that once the vba is run the 3 cells from the auto generator are copied, then the vba opens the dashboard.xls and looks for the date in column A which matches the other workbooks A13 date value, and then the cells are pasted into that row, but in column H, I, & J.
Here's sort of some code that I put together to see if that would be easier to understand. I'm new at doing the vba so I don't have better code.
Private Sub CommandButtonpaste2dash_Click()
'get our data from generator
Windows("Top Ten Auto Generator.xls").Activate Sheets("Summary").Select Range("B13,D13,E13").Select Range("E13").Activate Selection.Copy Workbooks.Open "Dashboard.xls" Sheets("Raw Data").Activate
'look for the date in column A which matches A13 in the Auto generator Some Code For finding the right date
'once found, paste special to the same row, but in column H (the 3 cells should paste together ok) some code For pasting into H In the same row As the found date
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValuesAndNumberFormats ActiveWorkbook.Save MsgBox "Done!!!" End Sub
I've been tasked with separating data within an Excel cell into it's own row. The difficulty I am having is, I need to keep the ticket number each piece of data within that cell is linked to. For example, I have Column A that has the ticket number, and column I has the serial numbers of each piece of equipment linked to that ticket number. I would like the serial numbers separated into their own row, but still keep the ticket number in which that equipment is connected to.
Here's an example: Column A Column I Ticket # Serial Numbers on Account 23999866 PAFR06598067 - MOPCUDTAM
Would I need a formula to do this, or is this something I can do using one of the Ribbon commands?
Row 1, Column 1: 111 Old Creek Road Row 1, Column 2: Stanton, VA 25523
I'm just wondering if there's a fast way to do this, or if I have to go in and do it manually - the reason i'm looking for a faster way to do this is because I have approximately 3000 rows to do it to. :shrugs:
Set up a worksheet so that it has 2 separate sections in the same worksheet ????? I am wanting to have 2 different sets of information in the same worksheet - and need the columns to be different sizes based on the information i want to put in. Is there any way to have this done - as I know that if you change the column width it does all columns - and i only want to do select columns. For example for section 1 - i would like to have the column widths as follows:
Is there any formula or formatting that will list in a seperate table all names that occur equal to or more than a specified number of times?
eg: I have a list of names(below) that I want excel to go through and automatically place the recurring names in a seperate table on a seperate worksheet.
Gus Bob Mike John Gus Nick Mike Gus
So Gus and Mike would be listed in the other table on the other worksheet.
