Timesheet: Calculate Time Within A Period When Crossing Midnight
May 14, 2009
I am creating a timesheet using excel 2003 users enter their shift start/finish time and a break start/finish time. Emplyee's can work night shifts (ie across midnight).
There are penalty rates which apply at different times. I need to be able to work out the amount of worked time that fits into a certain time period. eg. 10pm-7.30am, 7.30am-10pm.
I have a solution based on A clever formula from Daniel Maher that will calculate time within a period. But it doesn't work when the shift goes over two days.
I have attached a spreadsheet to help show the problem .......
I am trying to calculate the average start time for a machine over a period. However the machine start time varies from 10:00 pm to past midnight. I have tried reviewing past posts but cannot seem to find a similar query.
I need to determine a formula which will allow me to calculate a future date based upon a current date with varying time periods.
For example:
I have a bill which is paid on the 15th and last business day of each month. I would like to be able to see the next due date regardless of what day of the week it is.
I have a bill which is paid every other Tuesday. I would like to know the next due date without having to enter +14 for every due date in the future. In other words, it is preferable to be able to open the spreadsheet and automatically see the next due date, not use autofill to repeatedly add +14 to a previous date which would limit the # of future due dates that could be calculated.
I have a bill which is paid on the last business day of each month, not the last Friday of each month. I would need excel to return a value for the last day of the month which = Monday-Friday, regardless of what day of the week it may be as long as it isn't Saturday or Sunday(holiday exclusion would be nice but not required).
how would I calculate the number of hours in a shift after midnight. What I want to say is that the number of hours after midnight on a friday shift to be taken off from friday total hours and added to a saturday shift.
Need to calculate the mean hours by the day of the week. We only want to know the mean if it occured after a certain time and if it was on the same date then that would be totalled for that particular week day. I have included a small sample of the file I am working on.
I am trying to work out the response times to an event that my staff attend ( such as a fire alarm)
In C1 will be the time the event was called in, 23:55 In E1 will be the arrival time, 23:59 In F1 I want to show the time taken to arrive on site (response time)
This seems straightforward until the arrival time goes into the next day, such as 00:05 and this is when I have the problem
To make it more complicated, sometimes there is no need for an arrival time to be entered for some events ,with the end user leaving it blank or putting "NA" or "na" etc into the cell
I have tried the below formula which works to a point but leave me with an ######### error if the time is after midnight
I'm trying to calculate the available man hours I have for my shift/team. I have got the basic formula to deduct the time, and lost time for breaks ok, but when the shift end time crosses midnight the formula returns a "value" error message. i.e. start time = 18:00. End time = 24:00 breaks = 15 mins gives me a formula like this =TEXT(O17-N17-P17,"h:mm") and a result of 5:45
How I can make this formula work so it can calculate the variance even though the shift ends at 02:00am the following morning?
I’m working on a timesheet and I need to separate the hours worked that are before 6 am from all the others. For example if someone works 1:00 am to 8:00 am I need a cell to populated with 5 representing the hours worked before 6 am. The formula below works fine except when the start time is 12:00 am. I am also having trouble if the start time is before midnight like in a 11pm to 5 am shift.
I Have 20:00-04:00 as text in a cell, what i need is to take the 04:00 and show only if its after 00:00 and before 07:00 and show it as time value. This is where I'm up to so far but i don't know how to ask it for > 00:00 and < 07:00.
I have time in the column C and its Description in column D. i want to calculate total number of hours from "9:26:00 PM" which is in C16 to "3:23:14 PM" which is in C1. from this total hours i want to deduct the time that agent was not available. for eg an Agent is not available from "3:23:14 PM" To "3:23:53 PM" then again from "3:26:57 PM" to "3:27:13 PM" Then again from "3:42:35 PM" to "3:44:10 PM" and so on.......thus i can find out the productivity time lost from the total time an agent was logged in. I have attached the Sheet so that it will be simpler to understand.
I'm been trying to create a timesheet that will auto calculate the hours of normal / overtime 1 / overtime 2
Rules: Saturday / Sunday / Public Holiday = Overtime 2 Monday to Friday (8:30 till 17:30) = Normal (Auto Monday to Friday (17:30 till 22:00) = Overtime 1 Monday to Friday (22:00 till 8:30) = Overtime 2
* If Public Holiday column is set to 1 then all hours will auto set to overtime 2
* If Breaktime column is > 0 then deduct from total hours calculate
Sample:
Name Date / Day Public Holiday Start time End time Breaktime Normal hour(s) Overtime 1 Overtime 2
I need a formula to calculate hours worked between specific times. In the worksheet I have, I need to calculate the hours worked between 5am and 10pm, the start time is in C7, and the finish time in D7 the formula need to be in H7, and another formula in I7 to calculate hours worked before 5am and after 10pm .
I have a protected worksheet. Users wish to be able to track changes in the input cells. The suggested approach for this is to temporarily disable sheet protection and allow them to change the font color, then protect afterwards. What I would like to do is:
i) check whether they are in an input cell ii) if so, then prompt the user with the 'Font Color' dialog box iii) apply the font color selected to the input cell
I'm struggling to find the dialog box I need. I can launch the one to change the interior color, no problem (Application.Dialogs(xlDialogPatterns).Show). But that's no use to me, I just want a color palette that specifically relates to the Font Color
I have thousands of timestamps that have a start & end date and time in 2 separate columns. (one named start and one named end...)
I also have numerous set time periods that i'm interested in.. (about a dozen or so)
for example 01/01/2008 - 05/01/2008, 07:30:00 - 10:00:00
What i need is to be able to count the number of times the full time period i am interested (07:30:00 - 10:00:00) in falls in between the thousands of start and end timestamps i have. The time periods must also fall within the date range specifed.
So if my timestamps were Start: 01/01/2008 06:30:00 & End: 02/01/2008 11:00:00, based on the set time period above, there would be a count of 2
and if my timestamps were Start: 01/01/2008 07:05:00 & End: 02/01/2008 09:00:00 there would be a count of zero as there is not a full uninterupted timeperiod 07:00:00 - 10:00:00 between these timestamps.
and if my timestamps were: Start 01/01/2007 07:00:00 & End 02/01/2007 10:00:00 the count would be zer as this is a year early!
I am working on a project involving calculating time. It is a timesheet calculation. I was able to design the following layout:
.....A............B..........C..........D.......E.....F 1....Date.........Time IN....Time OUT...Hours... Total 2....01/01/07.....1830.......1930.......01:00...01:00 3....01/02/07.....1930.......2330.......04:00...05:00 4....01/03/07......830.......1900.......10:30...15:30 5 Column A is formatted for DATE. Columns B and C are GENERAL. Columns D and E are DATE format customized as '[hh]:mm'
The formula to calculate the time difference between the numbers in column B and C is located in column D. It is as follows: =IF(C4<1000,TIMEVALUE(LEFT(C4,1)&":"&RIGHT(C4,2)),TIMEVALUE(LEFT(C4,2)&":"&RIGHT(C4,2)))-IF(B4<1000,TIMEVALUE(LEFT(B4,1)&":"&RIGHT(B4,2)),TIMEVALUE(LEFT(B4,2)&":"&RIGHT(B4,2)))..................
I am trying to create a timeline spreadsheet for a weekly radio show I produce. We have 3 segments and the total time of the 3 must add to 59 minutes. Within each segments there are numerous variables with a certain time value. I am trying to figure out how to have time reduced correctly. For Example
Segment 1 Story A 5:00 minutes Story B 4:30 minutes Story C 3:00 minutes
What I need is Segment Total (A+B+C) in one cell and Remaining time (from total 59 minutes) in another. I know this may seem silly for most of you, but I cannot get the cells to format properly at all.
I want to return a value based on once off time related data which is captured at 4 time periods throughout a day. I have another set of data which does not line up with this data but I want it to return the value closest earliest value.
Given this data: 27-6-14 3:00 12 27-6-14 7:00 18 27-6-14 11:00 19
If I have a time like 27-6-14 5:00 I want to return a value of 12 (Previous time). How would this be possible?
I have a logbook which already uses a number of SUMIF formulas but have been trying to create one so that totals the number of hours flown in the above mentioned periods. I am attempting to copy the formula and then modify for the relevant column in this case: =SUM(IF(FlightDates<(TODAY()-90), 0, FlightLength))
FlightDates is the named range of the calender date in column A and FlightLength is the named range for total flying in column Z. However even though this forumla works in another situation e.g. tracking number of landings in the last 90 days, it comes up with an error.
I need to calculate a pay back period for a certain investment. Excel has options for NPV and IRR but not for the Pay back period. (PBP). I've tried finding a solution using google discussion groups and some books but nothing helped me out. attached you'll find an example of my sheet. I need the PBP to be calculated in e.g. 5,3 years. but when the figures change it should automaticly recalculate the PBP.
I am looking to calculate compound interest over a period of 10 years.
I am looking at putting a lump sum in at the beginning and contribute in monthly installments for the entire 10 years. How would I go about this.. I know there are formulas there, however I'm not a financial person at all..
Excel formula to calculate period between multiple dates.
Column A has first arrival Column B has first departure Column C has second arrival Column D has second departure Column E has third arrival Column F has third departure Column G has forth arrival Column H has forth departure Column I has fifth arrival
I need also to calculate difference between dates(dd-mm-aaaa hh:mm) in workhours ( hh:mm):
The work period is 9-18 with lunch interval 13-14 The startdate and end date could be out of the work hours and i can't include the extra hours. I can have several days (workdays) at the difference, but i should maintain the format hh:mm.
Ex1: Startdate 05-03-2013 18:34 ( date to calculation should be 05-03-2013 18:00) end date 06-03-2013 10:30 Time Difference 1:30 ( from 9 to 10:30 of 06-03-2013 ) will be equal to: Startdate 06-03-2013 8:34 ( date to calculation sould be 06-03-2013 9:00 ) end date 06-03-2013 10:30 Time Difference 1:30 ( from 9 to 10:30 of 06-03-2013 )
Ex2: Startdate 06-03-2013 12:01 End date 06-03-2013 14:28 Time Difference 01:29
Column A is the COB Date Column B through N are various stock data. I would like to calculate the trend of correlations over a 4 year period. I can't seem to figure out how to manipulate the data analysis tool pak to do this.
Calculate certain time increments for various work-shifts. I have a start time, finish time and increments of time across the spectrum of 24 hours. There are also multiple start time across the 24 hour period with some start times begining on one day and ending on the next day.
Example
In B5 Startime is 22:00 In C5 Finishtime is 06:30
In I3 increment begins at 00:00 In I4 increment ends at 00:30
The employee working the shift from 22:00 - 06:30 would fall into the time increment of 00:00 - 00:30 where another employee working a different shift (08:30 - 17:00) would not. I'm looking for a formula that would return a 1 in a cell if the employee fell into the 00:00 - 00:30 time increment and a 0 in a cell in the employee did not fall into the time increment.
I am trying to determine a formula to know a period time for example i started to test a unit at 10:20 am of 10/02/2011 and i would like to add 52 hours of test and i would like to know when and at what time will finish the test?
I have a project where I have to work out the value of cars over a period of time.
The cars depreciate at 36.9% per year over a 5 year period and I can't work out for the life of me how to create a formula in excel that give me the values at the end of each year.
Each car costs £10000 and I need to know what the value of each car is at the end of each year
I have sheet that is populated with data daily. I wish to create graphs from information contained within a table in this sheet where i can select the start date and end date of the graph possibly from a drop down menu. I will be creating multiple graphs and wish for them all to change when i select the time period.
