Conditional Total Shift Time Spanning Midnight

Mar 6, 2008

I have time in the column C and its Description in column D. i want to calculate total number of hours from "9:26:00 PM" which is in C16 to "3:23:14 PM" which is in C1. from this total hours i want to deduct the time that agent was not available. for eg an Agent is not available from "3:23:14 PM" To "3:23:53 PM" then again from "3:26:57 PM" to "3:27:13 PM" Then again from "3:42:35 PM" to "3:44:10 PM" and so on.......thus i can find out the productivity time lost from the total time an agent was logged in. I have attached the Sheet so that it will be simpler to understand.

Finding Range Between Start Times Spanning Across Midnight

May 13, 2014

I have various start times for employees.

I need to find out the total movement in start times per week for the employees.

I have used MIN and MAX to find the earliest and latest start times, and then a subtraction to find the difference.

This works brilliantly until my employees who start around midnight.

If they have started before and after midnight, it takes midnight as the earliest time and 23:00 as the latest, giving a difference of 23 hours instead of 1 hour.

i.e.

Start Times
23:00, 23:15, 00:15, 00:30

Range of Movement
00:30 - 23:00 = 01:30

I've tried, =$B$9+($C$4>$B$9)-$C$4 but this does not work when the MIN reads 00:00.

Time Calculation (Spanning Dates And Using Military Time)

Jul 15, 2014

I have 4 distinct columns.

Adm Date Adm Time Trans Date Trans Time
1/16/2014 937 1/16/2014 1045
1/1/2014 121 1/1/2014 121
1/14/2014 800 1/11/2014 735
1/30/2014 100 1/30/2014 205
1/13/2014 800 1/12/2014 1202

I would like to calculate the difference (# hours spanned from the dates shown). Unfortunately when we transfer the data the COLON is dropped from MILITARY TIME so I am having problems in the calculation. This is also made more difficult as some of the calculates span over two dates.

Conditional Formatting Using Midnight?

Jun 23, 2014

I am trying to use conditional formatting for employee's shift hours. If they work between 22:00 to midnight they get 1.25 penalty rates. And if they work between Midnight to 7am they get 1.50 penalty.

I am basically trying to highlight cells a particular colour if an end time finishes between specific times as per below. This is so Managers can clearly see who is working at what penalties however I am having trouble as it runs through midnight.

This is the conditions I am after.

Between 22:15 to 00:00 = Highlighted Red
Between 00:15 to 6:45 = Highlighted Yellow
Between 7:00 to 22:00 = no formatting required

As per attached example, I can only get between 22:15 to 23:45 to work. Not sure if I am on the right track or completely off the mark!

Subtracting Time - From Before Midnight To Next Day

Jun 18, 2012

I am trying to work out the response times to an event that my staff attend ( such as a fire alarm)

In C1 will be the time the event was called in, 23:55
In E1 will be the arrival time, 23:59
In F1 I want to show the time taken to arrive on site (response time)

This seems straightforward until the arrival time goes into the next day, such as 00:05 and this is when I have the problem

To make it more complicated, sometimes there is no need for an arrival time to be entered for some events ,with the end user leaving it blank or putting "NA" or "na" etc into the cell

I have tried the below formula which works to a point but leave me with an ######### error if the time is after midnight

=IF(E1="NA",0,IF(E1="n/a",0,E1-C1))

Calculating Difference In Time After Midnight

Dec 14, 2013

I'm trying to calculate the available man hours I have for my shift/team. I have got the basic formula to deduct the time, and lost time for breaks ok, but when the shift end time crosses midnight the formula returns a "value" error message. i.e. start time = 18:00. End time = 24:00 breaks = 15 mins gives me a formula like this =TEXT(O17-N17-P17,"h:mm") and a result of 5:45

How I can make this formula work so it can calculate the variance even though the shift ends at 02:00am the following morning?

Calculating Hours With Midnight As A Start Time

Oct 1, 2009

I’m working on a timesheet and I need to separate the hours worked that are before 6 am from all the others. For example if someone works 1:00 am to 8:00 am I need a cell to populated with 5 representing the hours worked before 6 am. The formula below works fine except when the start time is 12:00 am. I am also having trouble if the start time is before midnight like in a 11pm to 5 am shift.

=(IF(AND(S3<=$AG$97,S3>=$AG$73),(($AG$97-S3))*24,0))

S3 is the start time

AG97 is 6:00 am

AG73 is 12:00 am

There are penalty rates which apply at different times. I need to be able to work out the amount of worked time that fits into a certain time period. eg. 10pm-7.30am, 7.30am-10pm.

I have a solution based on A clever formula from Daniel Maher that will calculate time within a period. But it doesn't work when the shift goes over two days.

I have attached a spreadsheet to help show the problem .......

In it i have currently used validation drop boxes for the location and worked columns with tables just to one side of the sheet.

The shift pay is the column i am having trouble with.

I would like it to change dependant on what is selected in the 'worked' column.
For most things it should just display basic plus holiday, however if supervisor is selcted in the work column, it should display basic plus holiday plus supervisor.

Calculate Pay For Shift Work With Different Rates Based On Shift Hours

Apr 11, 2008

a person works for certain hours and get paid according to the hours worked either by day or by night or a mix of both. Day payment is $8 when worked between 08:00 and 19:59 , night payment is $12 when worked between 20:00 and 07:59. The excel cell are formatted as datetime with yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm , the function works fine in getting the time information and checking whether the whole work is all day or all night , yet the if-then-else statements for calculation seems to be wrong!!

examples:

start = 2008-01-01 09:15 , end = 2008-01-01 11:40 , all day as it is between 08:00 and 20:00 and cost = 8/hr = 19.333

start = 2008-01-03 21:05 , end = 2008-01-04 02:05 , all night as it is between 20:00 and 08:00 and cost = 12/hr = 60.000

start = 2008-02-02 19:00 , end = 2008-02-02 20:05 , cost = 9.000 as 1 hour day = 8.000 plus 5minutes night = 1.000

Function prod(st As Date, en As Date) As Double
Dim shour As Integer
Dim smin As Integer
Dim ehour As Integer
Dim emin As Integer
Dim stod As String
Dim etod As String
pday = 8
pnight = 12
shour = Hour(st)
smin = Minute(st) + shour * 60
If (shour >= 8 & shour < 20) Then
stod = "day"
Else
stod = "night"
End If
ehour = Hour(en)
emin = Minute(en) + ehour * 60

Operational Model - Shift Start Time Plus Amount Of Hours Worked In One Cell.

Is it possible that a cell contains both numeric and alphanumeric data and to do calculations on that?
For example: if a cell conatain the value "10a" or "8.5b" etc. Would it be possible to have a column that gives me the hours worked (the numeric value in the cell) and a line that gives me the amount of people that are working on shift "a" (the alphanumeric value in the cell).

Is this at all possible? Or does that require VBA/Macros and stuff (in which case this is posted in the wrong part of the forum )

Enter Total Time And Subtracting From Daily Time

Apr 9, 2012

Any way to enter in a total amount of time and then subtract it from a time shown. So for example:

I want to enter in a time of 26 hours, 10 minutes and 2 seconds: 72:10:02

I cannot find a format that allows me to enter the hours in excess of 24

Then I want to subtract it from a time of the day which will be entered as AM/PM: 02:40:02 AM

Then I want to show the result as a time of day: 00:30:00 AM

Lastly, I want to also show the amount of days adjustment: -1d, 00:03:00 AM

How this can be done through cell formulas?

Worksheet Change Event Spanning Multiple Worksheets

Nov 21, 2011

I have a workbook with 33 worksheets (31 date tabs and a Month To Date and Year To Date tab)

I want to have a clickable cell on each of the 1-31 date tabs to point to the MTD

I know I could do this easily with a hyperlink but I would rather have a clickable cell.

I have achieved this on an individual worksheet using the following code

Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Excel.Range)
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("$R$3")) Is Nothing Then Sheets("MTD").Select
End Sub

My question is: Do I have to copy this to every single worksheets code or is there some way have all sheets read the same private sub? (I guess it negates the point of a "private sub")

Way to do this as it would make editing any changes easier than having to do it 31 times.
