Whilst my question is partially answered in other threads, I don't seem to be able to get enough info to piece together a complete solution for my required task.
I have a "master" workbook that contains worksheets that are simply lists to be referred to by other workbooks...
IE; one worksheet is a list of customer names, another is a list of products, etc, etc...
The idea is that I only have to update the data in one place, and all the workbooks that use this information can draw the current data from a single source...
What I require; is some VBA code to import the require worksheet from the closed "master" workbook, and hide the imported worksheet so it's not seen by the user... this action would have to replace the previous copy of the hidden worksheet...
Ideally this would happen automatically when the user workbook was opened...
I have two Excel sheets (test-excel-1.xlsx & test-excel-2.xls)The test-excel-2.xls will never be opened. When I update cells in test-excel-1.xlsx and save, I want them to automatically update to the test-excel-2.xls without having to open it. I have tried the "='[test-excel-1.xlsx]Sheet1'!$G$4" but that needs me to open test-excel-2.xlsI also want original values to be pasted in test-excel-2.xls rather than the code (this is later used in another program).
I have multiple data sheets with tables and I want to create a master sheet table that automaticly will update when now rows/data is added in to the sheets in any of the data sheets.
Master sheet will look like this (the first 3 letters is the data sheet name), this is just the first column there a a lot more columns to be added
AAB08 AAB09 AAB10 AAB11 AAB12
[Code] .......
So when let's say in sheet AAB I add another row AAD13 I want the master sheet to update automaticly so it looks like this
I'm on a BTEC in college and my tutor wants me to create 3 spreadsheets, one of them is a Master spreadsheet which shows each pupils grade for each module, their over all end year grade and how many UCAS points that grade will earn them. The other two sheets are for the modules which will have the grades of the pupils in that lesson, Pass, Merit, Destinction or Fail. I hope you're still with me... I've attached an example of one of the 'Slave' spreadsheets as I call them.
My problem is that I can't seem to find a way of doing all this without constant nesting of COUNTIF. The code I have for my 'Unit1' spreadsheet's grade is:
It works, but it's very messy. If this sounds confusing I apologise, the attached documents should clear some of the confusion up. Once the smaller spreadsheets work, the Master needs to use them to update it's cells. If someone has a Merit grade in 'Unit 1', the Master needs to show it too by somehow linking the 'Grade' cell from 'Unit1' to the 'Grade' cell in the Master spreadsheet.
I have basically read all the posts on similar subjects and have tried for a few days to make it work but my solution is far from good enough. So now I am asking for you help.
My project: I have a Master workbook that contains the complete sales for the entire business. This is based on input from three different departments. These three departments have their own Excel workbook that they enter information into. The four files are all located in the same directory on a network folder.
What I want to do is to automatically gather all the entries from the three slave workbooks to the master workbook whenever the macro I am trying to create is run. There is no way of knowing how many new entries each workbook will contain and they have to be added so that that they don't overwrite eachother and so that they are put in sequence after the last row in the master workbook.
Now the information to be gathered is located on the first worksheet in all the three workbooks. The destination sheet in the Master workbook is also the first worksheet in the workbook. The structure of the information that I want to copy is equal on all the worksheets meaning that one sale is entered as a new row in the sheet. It is this row that I want to copy to the mastersheet.
What makes it a bit more complicated is that I want to extract certain information from one sheet and different information from other sheets. From one sheet i want to copy the entire row and from another sheet I just want to copy certain figures like Order Number, Customer, Price and so on. Meaning that I will have a different set of what I want to copy depending on what workbook I am copying from.
Here is what I have so far, it is not working by far and I tried to aim for something simple to start with since my vba experience is limited. So far I cannot copy anything into my Destination master file...
I have tried to write the below VBA to copy a specific cell to a specific workbook. I have set the folder path in B1 and listed the file names in column E4 onwards. E1 being the number of files in column E. I get a run-time error 91 "Object variable or With block variable not set" on Current File = ActiveWorkbook.name.
Sub UpdateParameters() Dim CurrentFile As Workbook Dim wbOpen As Workbook
I am currently using a macro to copy a sheet from a closed workbook in to my current workbook. However this copying is based on the sheet name. At present when I run the following code
I have a master spreadsheet that list several columns about employees(name, date, event name, etc.). Then I have an indivdual sheet for each employee. I am trying to import the column information for each employee onto their individual sheet based on their name. It is possible to import the individuals data from the master sheet to the individual sheet based on the employee name?
I have a workbook with a hidden sheet ("Template") and a visible sheet("New Job"). I need code so when cell F1 in "New Job" is populated:
1-the sheet is renamed to the value of F1, 2-a new tab is made (a carbon copy of the hidden sheet "Template") 3-the new tab is named "New Tab" and marked as unhidden.
Public Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) ActiveSheet.Name = Range("F1").Value End Sub
Function WorksheetExists(SheetName As String, _ Optional WhichBook As Workbook) As Boolean Dim WB As Workbook Set WB = IIf(WhichBook Is Nothing, ThisWorkbook, WhichBook) On Error Resume Next WorksheetExists = CBool(Len(WB.Worksheets(SheetName).Name) > 0) End Function..................
I am trying to put togther a VBA form button click to do the following: I have several customer names all in master sheet A1 - A300. I want the code to notice that there is a new customer and generate a new sheet, naming the sheet the customers name and copying and paste the entire sheet named 'worksheet' to this newly generated sheet.
I want vba code to pull data from two sheet in workbook, code has to pull all data from first sheet , then pull data from second sheet and paste some particular column only below first column sheet
e.g i pull data from two sheet(ONSITE&CCI)
SHEET-1ONSITE CONTAINS HAVE 57 COLUMN SHEET-2 CCI CONTAINS ONLY 19 COLUMN FIRST I PULL 57 COLUMN DATA ONCE FINISH MOVE TO SECOND SHEET CCI CONTAINS 19 COLUMN BUT ITS HAS TO PASTE DATA BELOW DATA OF ONSITE TO PARTICULAR ASSIGNED COLUMN'S ONLY BUT COLUMN NAMES IN BOTH SHEET IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT
In this attached example, this is a portion of a actual work procedure. The yellow highlighted cells are the same work element within the master procedure but one is for one type of machine while the other is for same model but added options. This is a pattern throughout the entire worksheet. Basically 1 model with several different types of options. I don't want to have unnecessary elements in a work procedure.
So what I am trying to accomplish, I want to create a userform or dashboard which will allow selection of model #, model type #, then based off those selections have excel populate a worksheet with all correct procedures based off model type choice.
In this example there is 6 model variations, all share same basic procedure, but all have their own work procedure based on options, so my above approach will allow me to make changes to the master procedure only instead of changing 6 procedures.
I have a userform which clones the latest sheet and produces copy of it on the next sheet. The first sheet they will be cloning is the sheet called 'template', I however want this to be hidden since I do not want anybody to modify a sheet which basically serves purpose of a template. And once cloned, it is no longer needed.
On the click of the command button, the macro will create sheet1 taking the info from sheet named 'Template' in the same workbook . And now on the next click of the command button, Sheet 2 is created taking the info from sheet1 and Sheet 3 is created taking the info from Sheet 2 and so on. Here is what I currently have, so how can i modify it in order for my scnerio to work?
I have a button on a sheet that runs a macro to unhide another sheet. That works, but I want the sheet made visible to remain forward. Instead, the button unhides the sheet and the sheet the button is on comes forward again. I am unable to figure how to keep the sheet made visible forward. Here is the macro 'as recorded'.
I'm trying to create a function in a template invioce that will look up a value in another spread sheet (fees). The data will be based off three values entered in the invioce from drop down boxes. I've attached the workbook with the master sheet and the invioce (sheet 5) The three criteria that can be selected is the project, month and name and I want the amount of hours to be returned based on that information in column e. The projects are seperated and billed by month.
I am trying to auto populate one spreadsheet from a master sheet
What I am trying to do: I have a master sheet where information on 25 countries is entered. Sheet has multiple columns for data entry I have 25 additional identical spreadsheets that correspond to one of the 25 countries so can drill down to country specifics
From the master - is it possible to select a country from a drop down menu so when I start entering data on the master it auto populates the corresponding sheet by the country selected.
I have a master sheet that contains all data relating to a particular Agent like Agent Code(Primary Key), Name, Bank details etc so on and so forth. Every month I have to make a new sheet which contains only a few of the columns from the master sheet. I have to manually select and copy each column for the specific agents to whom I have to make the payments. Now, I wanted to know..if there is any way in which I can enter only the Agent Code in the new sheet and it will look the code up in the master and copy the values of the relevant fields from the master to the new sheet.
I want to run vba code when a excel worksheet closes. But I want this code to be used for every worksheet that opens. So the macro or vba code has to be loaded with Excel automaticly. I don't want to reenter the code in every template I use. In access you can attach a module that runs when access or the application is closed: 'Private sub form_close()' Is it possible to create something like this in Excel.
An explanation what I want to do: I Open/create a workbook from within access. When the worbook closes I want to look with vba if there is a cell called " Total" and if so I want to open a access databases and submit the total to the database. I don't want access to wait untill the worksheet is closed. If the worksheet stays open for a longer time I want to work on in access with other tasks.
I want to copy the sheet named "data" from closed workbook (xlsm, xlsx, xls) via ADO.The closed workbook will be choosen by user via dialog box. The code must check the existence of "data" sheet. If there is no, then the code must give a warning. Futhermore, which is able to give a warning against the mistake of selecting the file itself.
This next part does the importing, but it fills all the columns and rows that were blank with 0's and fills all the way down to 65536 thru my column H that I specified that had data above.
Sub GetValuesFromAClosedWorkbook(fPath As String, _ FName As String, sName, cellRange As String)
how this code can be modifed to do the following..
Detect and copy ONLY the used range of the closed workbook.
I'm looking for a formula that would take the newest figure from a column in sheet A and update cell in sheet B. Every week it's going to be a different cell in a column in sheet A (always one below last week's) but the same cell in sheet B.
Basically I would like one cell in sheet B to show me most recent information from column in sheet A...
For the last few weeks this has been the place to be ;-). I have a question. Is there anyway to update a hyperlink automatically if the name of the sheet changes?
I have about 70 sheets and the names change every 22 days so I have it now for the value in the cell to update every time the sheet name is change but the hyperlink still is looking for the old sheet name.
Is there code that will take certain data from one Excel sheet to another named file in a different place on the network? Example Copy cell aa47 from "Recent Faxes.xls" that sits in "correspondence" folder. Then paste into cell B25 "Current Documentation.xls" in the "Sales Contacts" folder
I am tracking my sales interactions and am trying to link cells so when I update on one sheet it updates my last "customer touch" on a master sheet. Current formula-
On "sheet1" I selected a cell and used this formula... =sheet2!$b$7
The problem is that I want to keep a history of what was in that sheet 2 B7 cell so i insert a row (making B7 move down and become B8) and enter new info into the new b7. if I go back to sheet1 the formula in the selected cell becomes =sheet2!$b$8 I want it to stay to =sheet2!$b$7 no matter what I do... insert rows, delete rows etc...
in short what i am trying to do is have a cell in sheet1 show my last interaction with the customer and keep a history of in sheet2-infiniti.... with the caveat that my last interaction on sheet 2 etc... is listed first (thus the insert row)
