Using A "Find" Based Function Instead Of "Autofilter"

Dec 14, 2006

I work as a data manager at a bear meat factory*. We use a numeric code which refers to the tenderness of each bears flesh and prior to harvest -I often have to sort that data based on the numeric code.

Excel has issues with screening numbers in Autofilter. You can not filter "begins with" or "ends with" if the data is numeric. For Example:

This same problem does not exist in "Find"

Since I seem to be relying on Autofilter for my queries, and it is possible to create a function similar to autofilter using the properly working "find" feature -I was wondering if anyone had already written a function that returns a range and functions similarly to autofilter?

Find Matching Document Value And Max Date Using Function Based On Certain Parameter

Sep 22, 2009

I have the following info in a table:

name | doc date | doc value
a | 2009/01/01 | IN111
b | 2009/02/04 | IN222
c | 2009/02/05 | IN333
a | 2009/01/05 | CN111
d | 2009/03/01 | IN444
b | 2009/03/01 | CN222
a | 2009/04/01 | IN555

Firstly, I need to find the LAST DOCUMENT DATE for "a" where #doc_value starts with IN*** (invoice). Manually, I can see that it would be "2009/04/01", but my spreadsheet runs 6000+ entries. I need a function to do this.

Secondly, I need to find the corresponding #doc_value for that date (in this case, IN555).

Correct Syntax For Function To Find Average Based On Background Color Of Cells In Range

May 20, 2014

I'm working on a workbook that will track staffing patterns.

The workbook has three worksheets: Sheet1 "RCS", Sheet2 "HCT' and Sheet3 "Hidden". I've attached the workbook to this thread. The password for the form is "j".

On Sheet3 "Hidden" I have two tables that are set up to collect the SUM of columns on Sheets1 "RCS" and Sheet2 "HCT". I'm finding the SUM of each range by way of the background color. I've set up the following formulas and when the "data collection tables" are in the same worksheets as the original information, the formula's work perfectly:

The following functions are pulling data from Sheet1 "RCS" and placing them into a table in Sheet2 "Hidden"

[Code] ........

The following functions are pulling data from Sheet1 "RCS" and placing them into a table in Sheet2 "Hidden"

[Code] .......

I have two more functions that aren't working due to the fact that the source values are percentages and NOT plain numbers. The above functions work great for SUM but not for percentages. EXAMPLE--Let's say, 3 sub percentages it gives me the SUM of the 3 percentages (i.e. 85% + 100% + 100% = 285% instead of giving me 95%.

[Code] ........

How might I use the following functions to find the average of the source fields instead of the SUM?

AutoFilter & Find Using VBA's

Feb 20, 2010

The attached file has two sheets, “order” sheet and “stock” sheet. Can some help me with the followings:

1-In either sheet, I would like a VBA where if I put the mouse on a cell and then click on a VBA button, the VBA performs an Auofilter of the cell I have selected.

2-In sheet “Orders”, I would like a VBA where if I put the mouse on a cell and then click the VBA button it takes me to sheet “stock” and performs a find function of the cell I choose in sheet “orders”. For examples, if I put the mouse on cell E21 in sheet “orders” and press the VBA button, it takes me to cell H297 in sheet “stock”.

3-In sheet “stock”, I would like a VBA where if I put the mouse on a cell and then click on a VBA button, it takes me to sheet “orders” and performs an Auofilter of the cell I choose in sheet “stock”

I am trying to use the AutoFilter/Custom function in Excel (it is available under the Data Menu). It offers me two conditions/criteria that I can apply using and/or. For eg:

Filter:

does not begin with - 3

and / or

does not begin with - 9.

I want to add a third 'and' criteria .. is it possible, and if so, how?

The column that I am trying to filter has numbers formatted as text.

Hide Rows Based On Autofilter

May 7, 2014

I have a spreadsheet that is split in two parts , one with headers in row 16 with data flowing down to row 190. In row 192 I have another set of headers with data flowing down from that to row 300.

I have a userform (roughly at cell B13 in the attached) that filters the first block of data into either Company, Syndicate, EU Corporate or ALL. (ignore the other filters) which feature in range B18:B190

What I want it to do, is that when one of the three options is selected, ie Company, is that all rows from 193 down are hidden other than those that are also Company (in the test case there is just one row). The same is true for when Syndicate or EU Corporate are selected in the userform, and if the ALL is selected then none are hidden.

This is when they go to checkboxes where they may have many option. The mounting part is best example of many options. This is the part I can't incorporate to macro. It's somoething dynamic. Autofilter Based On Criteria From Other Workbook

May 24, 2008

I am looking for a way to search through several workbooks for a row containing the user's inputted data. I was thinking I could Autofilter each workbook but having trouble getting the code to reference a cell value in another workbook.

Sub Autofilter()
Windows("file.xls").Activate
With "Sheet1"
.AutoFilterMode = True
.Range("A1:EV1").Autofilter Field:=1, Criteria1:"Workbooks("reference.xls"). Sheets(1).Cells(A2)"
End With
End Sub

I would like to have file.xls Autofiltered by the value in cell A2 which is in workbook reference.xls. Am I going about this the wrong way? Auto Merged Post Until 24 Hrs Passes;Here is the code repaired so it doesn't through the syntax error:

Sub Autofilter()
Windows("file.xls").Activate
With "Sheet1"
.AutoFilterMode = True
.Range("A1:EV1").Autofilter Field:=1, Criteria1:=Workbooks("reference.xls").Worksheets("Sheet1").Range(A2).Value
End With
End Sub

But it still isn't working. Something is causing trouble at the With statement...

Autofilter Data Based On Listbox Selections

VB:

Sub Cmd1_Click()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
For i = 0 To ListBox2.ListCount - 1
If Me.ListBox2.Selected(i) Then
Range("A3:C600").AutoFilter Field:=2, Criteria1:=ListBox2.List(i), Operator:=xlFilterValues

It works, only that it filters the data by ONLY the last selected value of the list(i.e only one value item in the list). I want it to loop through ALL the selections, applying filter on column 2 based on EACH of the selections on the list box.

2007 Right Function With Embeded Find Function

Using the following formula: =SUM(RIGHT(E17,FIND("/",E17)))+SUM(RIGHT(E18,FIND("/",E18)))

This bring back an #VALUE! Error as the second part of the formula keeps picking up "/9" however the first part works fine, displaying "170"

Now if I use:
=SUM(RIGHT(E17,FIND("/",E17)))+SUM(RIGHT(E18,FIND("/",E18)-1))
It all works. The problem is that I need this to be automatic using the above way means having to add a "-1" to every formula for a cell with only 1 char to be added.

Make Autofilter React Based Upon Selection In Drop Box...

Nov 14, 2008

I have a pricing model I'm working on where the request is to have all of the line/part items in the model, but only display a subset of those items based upon a sub-line chosen by the user by a drop box that includes all sub-lines.

Right now the list of parts is a table that I'm querying that also includes a simple '1' or '0' to indicate whether every part is an element of one or many sub-lines; eg (sorry, sure this won't format right):

Item SubA SubB SubC
210-1010 1 1 0
210-1011 1 0 1

So if choosing SubB in the drop box, I need the autofilter to show the first part, but not the second one. I think I have to do it this way (autofilter) because it will retain all of the parts whether the user is looking at them at this moment or not; they will use this tool to perhaps first price all SubB items, *then* go select SubC and price all of *those* items - and it needs to retain everything they've done, rather than a dynamic query that would lose prior changes and pull in a whole new set of data (if that makes sense).

So.... I need my autofilter to react not to specifically choosing data on the autofilter itself, but to a choice made in the drop box (probably a macro/VB attached to the box that reacts to the linked cell value that results from the choice, but I don't know how to tell it if the linked cell value is '5', go to column 7 (first two are part number and description) in the autofilter and filter on that column.

Creating Autofilter That Returns Records Based On Date Variable

Mar 13, 2013

I have a strange problem I cannot solve in that I'm trying to create an auto filter that returns records based on a date variable.

If I set the code to equal the date variable, it returns information. If I set the code to return records AFTER the date, it returns nothing.

Code to return records on the date:

Dim startdate As Date
startdate = Format((Now), "dd/mm/yyyy")
ActiveSheet.Range("A:B").AutoFilter Field:=2, Criteria1:="=" & startdate

This returns data, however if I slightly amend it to get records on or after the date:

Code:
Dim startdate As Date
startdate = Format((Now), "dd/mm/yyyy")
ActiveSheet.Range("A:B").AutoFilter Field:=2, Criteria1:=">=" & startdate

It returns nothing. Is there a syntax problem in my code.
