I have a list of airport codes and I need to look up these 2 digit codes and find the relevant airport and country.
For some reason when I use the lookup function it is finding the correct lookup value but returning the column cell in the previous row.
I am using the following code (I found here), to test for unlocked cells when I am creating a sheet. (I'm really new at this) I have 2 issues. First this (below) doesn't end itself, I have to escape or pick another cell. Second, I would like another button to return cells to the previous color after I have corrected any locked/unlocked cell errors.

I have a report that is run everyday showing a list of orders, on separate tabs based on facility code, that has all kinds of information. I want to be able to take today's file, and have it lookup any comments I posted on the previous day's file.
I've been messing with code all morning and can't get it right. I think my problem is the vlookup part, and I don't think my loop is right either. Here's a little bit of the code i'm trying:

I want to create a certification only list on a separate tab of training that has been completed where a certification has been issued (as indicated by a "Y" in the "Certification?" column on the training tracking tab) and then populate from some of the fields vs. all of the fields.
What I have now, only pulls the first occurence, not all occurences. I saw that I could have identified the multiple columns that needed to be populated, but it didn't work either, so I'm fine putting a separate vlookup in each column.
I have a pretty large table,(153,000 rows) My lookup_value is a 7 digit number. If my lookup_value isn't in the lookup_vector, it should return "#N/A" (which it does most of the time) but I noticed it was returning a result when the lookup_value didn't exist...it didn't exist anywhere in the table.

I am using the below formula but the data that is being returned is not the correct data for the specific employee. C5 is the employee name (last name, first name) in a single cell. A sample of the spreadsheet I am trying to pull data from is attached. Some employees the formula pulls the right data and some it does not...

If the item in the vlookup table Array does not exist, the vlookup returns the result of an unrelated item. Is their another formula I can use?

I am trying to create a formula that will act like a vlookup but will return a different row. In other words, On page two I need to write a formula that says: In column 1 if you see "Extension 101" return column 2 of the row right beneath it, so on and so forth. So page two should return a mirror of what page one says, the difference is I would like people to type in "Extension 101" in a cell and it would return all the date.

Cell A1 would be typed in//Cell A2-A4 would be static//Cell B2-B4 would return these numbers based on info from A1.
Cell A1 would always be unique in column A (on both pages).

I am attempting to place a formula in cell b3 in the attached spreadsheet on the "sheet to pull data into" tab 1 (cell is highlighted yellow) to retrieve value in the yellow highlighted cell in the "Sheet that contains data" which is on a seperate worksheet within the same workbook.

When I drag my VLOOKUP formula down a column in Excel 2010, the return value copies the formula result from the original VLOOKUP formula result. For example, if the first VLOOKUP returns a value of 0.5, I expect to see 0.5 or 1 in the cell below that one. However, I get 0.5 which is not the expected result for the cell below.
When, I click the fx on the cells below, the expected return values appear in the formula result. After I click OK, the expected formula results updates and now appears in the cell.
I'm not sure what is causing this issue. My computer was updated recently from an old machine to a new one. I have never experienced this issue before.
I have to write some VLOOKUP formulas to pull several items from a report, the problem is there could be multiple items for each lookup value as the example below:
Company Data ABC Monday ABC Friday ABC Thursday DEF Friday GHI Monday
I need to reference every piece of data for every company but using the VLOOKUP formula, I am obviously only able to get the first instance of the lookup value (company ABC)
How to I write the formula to lookup the other data? The practical appliation I am using this for has anywhere from 300 to 400 lookup values.
I am experimenting with sparklines and wanted to know if there is a way that I can lookup the last 12 results of a particular field and return a sparkline for that.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a list of rules on how to group account numbers. An example is below. I have a very long list of full account numbers (no wildcards). There are roughly 75 rules on how to group the over 40,000 accounts. I want to use the vlookup to determine what group each full account number (always 11 characters) would belong to? It seems that the vlookup isn't treating the ?'s as wildcards. I can use the full account number rules with the wildcards in the cell in the sumif function though.
So ultimately I would like to have my list of account numbers like 40000000000 and 40000000001 know that they belong in group 1 based on the rule table below.

I have a lookup table which needs to be able to retrieve data from columns as well as rows and not sure if this is possible.
My data is set up with an ID number, financial year and data across the columns e.g
ID F/Y Apples Pears

My lookup table will have the ID number field which will be manually entered to lookup the information on the data sheet. e.g
ID 9999
FY Apples Pears
2004/5 5 4
2005/6 7 8
I can't work out a way to get excel to only give me the number of apples and pears for that year for that ID number. Not all ID numbers will have the same number of financial years so I may need to use VBA.

So it's pretty basic. If we simply remember the first ColumnA and ColumnB data, go to the next row, if ColumnA is the same, then ColumnB should be the same. If it's not, then fill with red, go to the next row, repeat. if ColumnA changes, remember the new pair, go to the next row and compare again.
I've thought about this from a scripting perspective, and imagine that something like this would do the job:

To explain this further, in the first list I have a detailed report on our clients and the services provided to every employee of that company/client.
However, the sheet two only needs the names of the employees that belong to a specific client.
This can be done manually by setting a fliter on the name of the client/company, but I need to be automated. To ensure only that specific company/client company's employee name is copied.

I basically want column E to check the cells from left to right and display the value that is in the first populated cell. For example, cell A2 is blank, therefore, it should display the value from B2. A3 & B3 are blank, so E3 should display the value from C3 and so on...

When Debugged the Range.Formula appears to be blank when queried. Using Record a Macro the Reference to a named range worked fine but I could not test for an offset or the use of the range reference. What can I do to use to make this work

Excel offers many ways to use a key to lookup a value (VLookup, Index/Match, DGet, and the rest). What's the fastest way to perform a lookup of a small table of, say, 30 rows of key-value pairs? Theoretically, it would be most efficient to use a branch table (also known as a jump table). See the wikipedia article for branch tables: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Branch_table. Does Excel/VBA have a way to create a branch table for such lookups?
