First Two Columns Are Reversed In Color

Date Number Sequence Reversed - Not Recognized By Excel As A Date
Jul 31, 2014I have a column of figures in a file sent to me recently which are dates but for some reason have been reversed eg 20140321. This is 21st march 2014. However I have tried formatting the number as a date (as we would normally see it in UK eg 21/03/14 or similar) and I cannot get Excel to recognise it as a date - I just get a long row of asterisks. How do I get a recognisable date sequence?

Mar 1, 2008I need a way to re-order an excel worksheets columns based on another worksheet.
Data is extracted from a database into excel however users can configure the columns in the initial system. to how they like This causes problems when the data is copied into an excel spreadsheet I have created as the data copied will not be in the same column order as is required.
How can i reorder the columns without physically having to cut and paste the columns to match?
I have attached a sample spreadsheet.
You will see on the spreadsheet that 'fixed columns' is the order that i require the data however 'variable columns' is not in the same order.
Over Writting Data From Vlookup
Nov 26, 2009I have this spreadsheet with a list of products and their components in the sheet called "product_list" this information is downloaded from a plant pc in this format. to make it more readable and easier to edit i've made the "mix formula" sheet that using vlookup finds the product by product code and brings through only the relavant information. The problem is if you want to alter this information you have to try and find the relavant cell in the "product list" sheet. What would be easier is if you can edit the relevant info in the "mix formula" sheet and it would change the data in the "product list" sheet. Is there a way of doing this? I've attached the spreadheet with the relavant data to demonstrate.

Reversed Weighted Average Formula?
Jun 6, 2014What I am trying to do is rank my employees based on certain metrics. They are weighted in three different catagories. Talk time is 40%, Quality 50%, Attendance is 10%. I can weight the Talk Time and Quality, as those are basically the higher the score the better the weight. Attendance is the opposite, the lower the number, the higher the weight. Meaning, if employee has 1 absence that would better than someone who is at 4 absences. Is there a way to do this. I am somewhat educated on VBA, I understand if,then,else statements and/or Select/Case statements, so if I needed to do it in VBA I can. I just need direction to get it going.

As an example, January 04, 1915 is represented as 150104.
How can I convert this number to a standard date format?
I attempted to use the Concatenate and Left and Right functions.
The Left and Right functions will not accept the 150104 digits and they display #Value!
I am using Excel 2003.
However, those two functions do work if I precede the 150104 digits with a text character.

So: How can I put Column E in alphabetical order so that Column D shifts accordingly.

I want it to shift them so it ends up like this:

Add Order Number Automatically
Mar 27, 2008I'm creating an order form in excel. I would like to add a control there where when it's triggered, excel would automatically assign a number that hasn't been used before and save the file using that number. It's like an order number generator.
For example, let's assume I'm entering a purchase order in excel. After I'm done doing that, I click on the "SAVE" control button. This will assign the number following the last saved order and save the file in a location I specify in this format: filename POnumber.

Dec 8, 2007I have a list of unique number. They are part numbers. For convenience for the user, they cannot be resorted. A list may look like this:
AAAA
BBBB
AAAA
AAAA
CCCC
(blank cell)
CCCC
What I would like is a formula that i can put in the adjacent cell that will result in the following:
AAAA 1
BBBB 1
AAAA 2
AAAA 3
CCCC 1
(blank cell)
CCCC 2
Essentially, the formula/solution will "know" that the third occurence in the list is actually the 3rd occurence, and so forth... I tried COUNTIF but that just gave me the total number of occurences

Determine Next Number In Order
Dec 21, 2007We have list for entries that is shared among few people. In that list, we manually add number for the entry. So if I input 99 then, next person should add 100 and so on. I would like to automize this, so say If I use this, then no one else can use it in the mean time and then when number is input, it should disallow if same number is input and it should automatically enter the next number.

Pivot Table Columns In Month Order
Mar 17, 2007I have a couple of Pivot Tables that I create each month summarising my Income and Expenditure. The only problem I have is making the columns appear in the correct order, i.e. where July is month1 through June(the following year) being month 12 to coincide with my financial year. Oddly enough last month (January) was fine, following December.
This month January and February appear in columns 1 & 2.

The issue is, I don't know how to track what the last order number I used was....

Columns Order Changed Which Messed Up Cell References?
Jun 14, 2014I am working on a spreadsheet with multiple tabs. The basic idea is that I will pull some raw data and paste it into my first tab, and then I can refresh all of the other tabs to reflect the newly imported data. I had a problem recently because when I attempted to pull the raw data because the number and order of columns had changed which messed up my cell references.
My other worksheets would contain cell references that said =table1!a1, and I would drag that formula down to have a list of all employee names for example. I would then filter data based on some of the other information in other columns. I was hoping that I could paste the newly exported data into that table and reapply the filters to view the new list of employees. How can I do this even if the order or amount of columns change? This spreadsheet will be used many times by different people so I need to make it scaleable in case the format of the exported data continues to change. I tried to change the raw data into a table and change the cell references to the column name, but it did not work when the order of the columns changed.

May 15, 2007I have a large order spreadsheet with 3 date related columns. One for customer requested delivery date, one for factory quoted delivery date and one for actual delivery date.
I want to be able to set something up that if it gets near either the requested or quoted delivery date (by say a week), that the cell flags red so it's a visual reminder to check whether the order has been dispatched etc.

Invoicing Based On Product And Order Number?

Most of our customers will have their invoices formatted a certain way which has been relatively easy to solve, however one customer needs to have their invoices formatted in a special way.I have a sheet that pulls in a list formatted like this:
Date product order number kilos
07/4/14 48% cream 445600 1000
07/4/14 PHM 445600 1500
07/4/14 PHM 445600 1000
07/4/14 PHM 445600 2000
10/4/14 48% cream 445800 500
What I need it to display is the following:
Date Product order number kilos
07/4/14 48% cream 445600 1000
10/4/14 48% cream 445800 500
07/4/14 PHM 445600 4500
So you can see it is grouping the invoice by both product type and order number but grouping by product.
