I need to add up hours worked of last 3 days including current day. The date column does not contain everyday's date. How do I formulate a cell for date entry and another cell will show the sum of last 3 days including date not shown and date entered? E.g. If I enter date 4/6/09, result should be 17:10 hrs; 4/11/09, result should be 7:00.

May 12, 2014I have some vba code that currently copies a status table out of a worksheet, into a temp file for an email. The status table in excel has a column D which can have different status. I want to select everything in the table except rows that are 'Descoped'. Currently my code looks like:
Set rng2 = Sheets("Execution Status").Range("B2:F420")
This picks up everything without looking at the status. I want to change it so it doesn't pick up the rows where Column D contains 'Descoped'.
In pseudo code I would describe it as:
Set rng2 = Sheets("Execution Status").Range("B2:F420") where value in D5:D420 is not equal to 'Descoped'.
I have tried:
Set rng2 = Sheets("Execution Status").Range("B2:F420").Value "Descoped" and nothing gets selected.

Jun 7, 2014Every week, in row 3 i enter the number of boards cut. In row 9 i want a running total, but until this weeks total is entered, i dont want anything to show. This is the data for a bar chart which i print off every week. Next week is week 3 and i will enter the data in cell d3. When i do i want cell d9 to show the new total of B3,C3,D3. And so on each week.

Once that has been worked out I need to include WORKDAYS formula to only count working days. I have created the list on 'Controls' Tab Column A10:A47.

Count Unique Values Based On Duplicate Status In Another Column On Filtered Data
Mar 5, 2014I am able to quite easily count the number of specific values in a cell after the table has been filtered. However, the problem I have run into is that some times the data needs to be placed into the spreadsheet twice (or to be more specific the same subject is associated with several unique data points).
What I need: some way to count the instance of some give value in column D only once based on the presence of a duplicate (unique) identifier in column C. However, when I filter the entire database, it must count *only* the filtered cells and not the hidden cells as well.

Currently calculates: M=9, F=2
Right now it incorrectly states there are 9 "M" from column D when it really should be 5 since 3 are duplicate values. My main difficulty is making sure this continues to work after I filter the entire sheet (say column ZZ) and have a bunch of hidden cells.
Equation currently using to count only filtered values (in this case "males" and "females"):

Oct 2, 2009I have to keep a record of the running totals of school house points for each week. The problem is that teachers are very lazy and don't record data every week so I have many blank cells which my current formula can't cope with. I've tried using N/A but it doesn’t seem to work? (Have thought about threats of violence but would probably lose my job) I’m if there is no data (blank or 0) then I need it to keep the same total in the cell as the previous week and so on until new data is entered and updates the total. I have attached a simplified copy: Teachers enter points in the HP sheet, the Running Totals sheet (TAB) contains the formula.

B9 contains the a refrence to the first day of the month eg 1/7/2008 I want the cell above it (B8) to return 31. If the date reference is 1/6/2008 I want (B8) to return 30.
I'm using it to pro rata by the number of days in a month.

Feb 22, 2007I have been using the wrong formula to count total entries in columns and only just found this error. The MAX formula in cell B4 is: =MAX($B$12:$B$36). If the all the rows are full within range F12:F36, then the MAX formula is fine to count the total within range B12:B36 (25) so I thought. But sometimes there are omissions between F12:F36. If there are 2 blank cells anywhere within F12:F36 for example, then B4 needs to show 23 respectively. In the sample WkBk B4 needs to show 8

Sep 25, 2013I am trying to find a way of counting the total number of days medical devices were in-situ for a fairly large dataset.
The worksheet has a few thousand rows. Column A - unique identifier for patient; column B - date inserted (Aug 02 - Aug 13); column C - date removed or audit date. There is no missing data, all rows have both dates. Some devices in for few days or weeks, some for up to 7 years.
I want to count each 12 month period (starting 1 Aug 02) the total "device days" for that year. (e.g. if device inserted 1 Feb 03 and removed 1 Apr 03, in year period starting 1 Aug 02 would have been in for 59 days. Another device inserted on same day and not removed until 9 Sept 05, would for first period (01/08/02- 31/07/03) 181 days, second period 366 days, third 365 days and fourth (01/08/05-31/07/06) 39 days). Therefore for the two rows, the first period total would be 240 days (59+181).

Dec 24, 2011I have a spreadsheet to record profit or loss on a daily basis. The figure for each day can therefore be positive, negative or zero.
I want to add a column to display the total for the last 7 days (NOT the last 7 calendar days), in which either a profit or a loss was recorded (so excluding any cell that is zero).
I would prefer to add (insert), the column for each day as it comes and the range would obviously vary if the new day's figure was not zero.

Oct 8, 2009i am looking to create a small table from the attached worksheet that will show how many users there are for 3 different locations, the user names are in column a and the locations in column c. the thing is, the actual worksheet i am using in work contains almost 1000 lines, and is being updated daily, there can be multiple entries for a person for projects etc.. and someone can even be in the availability and pto area's without being in the main project area. each resource can only be on one location so that will not change.
also, there can be blank cells for resource which should not be counted. i was wondering if there was a formula or a macro that would count the distinct number of names and reference them to the location and give a count of resources by location?

Feb 4, 2010I am trying to simply count the number of times each entered name appears on my list IE if John Smith appears 3 times in one sheet, in a column after his name would simply be the number 3. I tried this doing =COUNTIF(A8,A:A) Where A8 is his name and column A is all names. I keep a return value of 0 every time!!!!! I even tried =COUNTIF(A7,A12) where they were both the same names. And yes,I did do Ctrl + Shift - enter
