How To Automate Copying Of Range Of Cells Into Same Row 365 Times
Feb 1, 2014
I am trying to capture data for statistical analysis, but have hit a snag. As shown in attached sheet I have each day for the year broken down into hour time slots into which data will be added. As I will need to come up with a number of similar sheets in the future I was wondering if there is a way to automate through vba, a quick way to copy down the hour slots for each day, 365 times, rather than the laborious task of copy and paste manually.
I'm trying to automate the process of exporting a range of cells to a text file. I think the Print# command will work because I don't want the quotes at the end of each line. Each range of cells will be a separate text file, and I want to save and name the file according to the column it's in. This bit of code from dominicb seems to be what I'm looking for, in principle.
I want to copy certain columns from Sheet6 to Sheet1. For instance, Column G in Sheet6 would be copied to Column A in Sheet1. I have over 20 columns that need to be copied. There are over 5,000 rows in Sheet6. Thiomething that I have to do daily.
is it possible, after inserting new sheet rows, to automate the copying of formulas and cell formatting into the newly created space, instead of manually copying the formulas and formatting down into each column?
My problem is automating a process that takes information from a single column with a range of D7:D77 in 22 spreadsheets and places this information in a summary spreadsheet as rows corresponding to the names of each spreadsheet. This is within the same workbook.
For example say spreadsheet A1 has a column from D7:D77 I would like this information in a summary spreadsheet with the row titled A1 and D1:D77 transposed. This would then be repeated for the remaining spreadsheets
I have a row data corresponding to the measuring of load cell per min and I need to average the values per hour. So I have a column B for the date (from 1-01-2013 to 31-01-2013, column C for the time (0:00:00 to 23:59:00), and D de values per min I want to average. I have to do the same for the rest of the month of 2013 (February, ...., December).
I would like to know if there is a way to create a formula to calculate the average of the first 60 values (to get the average of the first hour of 1-01-2013), and then copy it to get the average of the following 60 (average of the second hour in 1-01-2013) and so on.
If there is no way to do it, I would like to know if I can do it using functions like average, match, index, offset, what would be the best match of those functions.
I also tried it by doing the analysis in another tab and using the function "averageifs" with two criterias: one for the date (example 01-01-2013) and another one for the hour (example 0:00:00), but it didnt work, it show error: #value. I inserted an extra column in the data tab with just the hour (example 0:00:00) in front of the corresponding column with (example 0:01:00, 00:02:00, etc) Equation I used for this:
=AVERAGEIFS('Data (min)'!D$6:D$43206,'Data (min)'!$A$6:$A$44646,A6,'Data (min)'!$B$6:$B$44646,B6) =AVERAGEIFS(TAB AND COLUMN WHERE THE RAW DATA IS,RANGE OF CRITERIA 1,CRITERIA 1,RANGE CRITERIA 2,CRITERIA 2)
I got a range of data on sheet2, size changes everyday (dynamic) And in sheet1. I got a range of data and the size changes everyday as well. I need to copy the range in sheet2 to sheet1. The position would be at the cell after the last data in sheet1. e.g.
sheet1 got 105 data I need to paste data of sheet2 start of row106 in sheet1
need to understand the easiest way of highlighting the highest and lowest number in a range of cells several times in the same column.
As I said the cell range will be in the same column. So highlight the highest number green and lowest number red in cells a3 to a9 and then repeat the same process again in cells a11 to a17 and so on.the cell references are an example.
So I have several separate sets of numbers in the same column.
I am trying to extract the number of times a name appears on a certain range of cells on a worksheet, now I can get this to work, but I am sure there is a better way I just cant get it to work!
> Find a certain string "name1" > if string is name, copy succeeding columns if not goes and checks another cell till it finds it. > Then copied columns will be evaluated (sum, divide, etc)
this loops through all rows.
next problem i am seeing is what if it finds 2-5 names how can i combined all the cells copied?
I'm looking for an algorithm that does the following:
1. Open one-by-one a number of excel workbooks in a directory and copy their .UsedRange (i.e. all sheet content in each of the workbooks).
2. Paste append one-by-one each of the workbooks .UsedRange of data into a master workbook that is already open (i.e. active workbook).
Note that the source workbooks and target master workbook contain the same format of data. So a simple copy and paste of the .UsedRange is apt.
Basically I need each .UsedRange of an opened workbook to be appended to the data from previously opened workbook in the master workbook already opened.........
I am creating a macro needed for many worksheets. I am trying to paste a range that will be different within each worksheet. I started the macro off by locating the correct cell to start the copy from. I want to copy 11 columns across and 32 rows down from the cell I selected.
To put this simply, I have a spreadsheet that has 2 columns on it with multiple names and numbers on it. We'll say ABC and 123 as the example name and number. When I type in ABC and 123, I have it where it appears on the next page.
The question is that if I want to duplicate it onto the next page, how do I do it? In other words, I want to create a 3rd column with which to add a number of times I want the numbers and letters to appear. For example, I write| ABC | 123 | 5 | and ABC appears on the next page at a certain start point and is copied 5 times in certain cells. The same happens for 123 at its own start point.
I'm using Excel 2003. I've got two different .XLS files, each with multiple sheets.
I'm trying to create a macro which will copy a range of cells from one sheet on one .XLS file (which is closed) to a specific place on a specific sheet on the current .XLS file (which is open).
So for the sake of argument:
I've got two Excel files: C:ApplesOldFile.xls and C:OrangesNewFile.xls
OldFile.xls is closed -- NewFile.xls is open and in front of me.
I'm trying to copy the data in ranges B6:C41 and F6:F41 from Sheet2 in OldFile.xls to the same ranges on Sheet6 in NewFile.xls. There are no formulas in these cells -- just data (numbers).
I keep getting error messages, failures to copy to clipboard, etc.
I have one Excell Book with two work sheets. The 1st sheet (Sheet Name : Data ) contains the data... and in the 2nd sheet (Sheet Name : Rekey) i have a specific form in Rekey sheet and some data in Data sheet. Now i have to copy Rekey sheet into multiple times .... with different sheet names... and the sheet name are in Data sheet from cell A2 to end.....
For e.g. in Data Sheet cell A2 contins work1 and cell A3 contains work2 and A4 contains work3..... and so on....
Rekey sheet contains some form....
I need to paste Rekey sheet multiple times with sheet name work1, work2, work3..... and so on....
There is a Microsoft VBA bug currently outstanding where if your VBA replicates a sheet too many times, it throws a run-time error. I read MS' statement that, to get around this problem, what one can do is to save and close the file, and re-open the file once in a while.
Doing this certainly helped, where it used to crash after copying only a few times and now it goes on until 40 ~ 50 times. But it still crashes. Has anybody been able to get around this problem? Currently I am having VBA save, close and re-open the file every 7 or 8 times or so...
I have a spreadsheet that allows users to paste set data from a PDF Image (using OCR) straight into Excel and then use the MID function to split the data accordingly.
Unfortunately, the OCR isn’t too intuitive and gets it wrong sometimes.
So to counter this, in another sheet (in the same workbook) I have a manual input section, and a simple macro button that pastes this data into the same fields where the OCR text would be, so that the main sheet works exactly the same way as before.
The problem is, and most likely due to the simplicity of the sheet, if a combination of OCR pasting and manual inputting is used, when I hit the paste button, it over rides the OCR data with blank cells
In the link below I have shown what is currently happening (1, 2, 3), and an example of what I would actually like it to do (4, 5, 6).
Example - Online Spreadsheets - EditGrid
So, in the 2nd scenario, I would like “5” to recognise that the respective cells in “4” already contain data and fill them ‘Grey’. This I have already achieved with basic conditional formatting.
However, I need to take it 1 step further and say that if the parent sheets cell (Auto OCR) contains data, as well as filling cells (in sheet Manual) lock these cells off and prevent the end user from adding data and/ or being copied over to the parent sheet.
Is this possible?
The result then being the parent sheet with both OCR text and copied text from the manual input sheet.
Both sheets are protected anyway and only allow for user input in certain areas, so is it even possible to apply further protection once the sheet is locked already?
With reference to attached file. I want to copy column D&E for 'n' number of times of value based on B1. If value in cell B2 is 0 then hide cell D&E and if there is any other value, excel to copy E&F to next column (leaving one column blank after each paste).
I have a workbook with multiple worksheets. Each worksheet corresponds to a certain store fixture estimate. Ont these sheets I have a specific cell where you can input how many fixtures of that type are to be used.
On that sheet also, is a range of cells (ex. Range("A65:F3340")) that needs to be copied to a new summations sheet of total hours to build the project.
If sheet 1 has 1 fixture - the macro should copy the range of cells only once. Sheet 2 has 4 fixtures - tha macro should copy the same range four times appending each set of data tot eh end of the previous, And so on for each fixture sheet.
This one seems tricky to me. I have a spreadsheet which is being used to collect data. Depending on what is selected in my drop-down menus in row 8 (columns B-N) my print range needs to change. The goal is to create a button that allows the end user to select the range without having to find the end of the spreadsheet.
- I have attached a grid named RANGE.xls that shows the logic Im looking to automate.
- I have also attached the data collections spreadsheet (FY10 Data Collection Tool_V0.6.xls)
The end users of this spreadsheet are very Excel naive and Im trying to make this semi-idiot proof.
I am trying to take a range ("a5:k23") of data in a sheet name Kelly and paste that data at range ("a1") in Sheet4 when the numbers change in cells "(K3") and "(J3") in the Kelly Sheet. When the numbers change, I want this to automatically paste and paste special. Since there are some conditional formats with color, I want to first Paste and then Paste Special the range of data.
Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range)
If Range("k3") = 1 And Range("j3") = 10 Then Range("A5:K23").Select Selection.Copy Sheets("Sheet4").Select Range("A1").Select ActiveSheet.Paste Range("A1").Select Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _ :=False, Transpose:=False Sheets("KELLY ").Select Range("F2").Select
I have a spreadsheet that I need one thing automated on it (for now). It is a tracking sheet for our QA coordinators. What happens is they have a list of medical charts that are incomplete, when they mark the column complete with an "x" then the cell that contains and "x" under the Team Leaders name should disappear.
I have a code similar but I don't know who to use and array in the code.
This is what I used to change the date of a fields automatically (I recieved this from someone on line here)
I have a macro in Module1 of workbook "BAU" called "ExtractToSheets" which exports data depending on the contents of a cell (Thanks royUK et al)
At the moment however, you must run the macro manually to export the data.
Now, i have put some simple validation in column K of worksheet "BAU Data" within the "BAU" workbook. Whenever a cell within a predefined range with column K is changed to "Yes" i want the macro to run AND i want the row the cell is in to be locked so it cannot be edited further by the user. I have had too many users mess up previous sheets i have made to collect my data, and i wish to make this one somewhat more idiot-proof! Any pearls of wisdom folks?
I would have attached a representation of my sheet, unfortunately because there is now a macro in my spreadsheet, our trigger-happy security software won't let me post it!
The codes in E column are what is entered in a worksheet range (user cannot see the list). Needed is to show both the two-character code in column E and the text definitions in column F in the dropdown. As data validation now works, users only see the two-character code and are not remembering what the code stands for - they need to see the definition.
Is there a way to show both the two-character code from column E along with the text in column F? When user selects, only the code would be entered in the target cell. (Is data validation the correct technique?)
I have set this problem up in closely located cells to construct the issue. In reality, the validation list is well off-screen from where the user is actually inserting the codes and there are many more codes/definitions.
I'm in the process of creating a budgeting spreadsheet for monthly expenses. I have one column (D) as "Paid" and column (F) as "Date Paid". Is there a formula that can automatically insert today's date of entry into the "Date Paid" column, once the "Paid" column has been filled in with an amount?
For example: I enter $20 in the "Paid" column, then the "Date Paid" column is self populated with that particular days date. I would like to do this for every sheet.
I have recorded a macro to sort a range of cell based on two values that is dependent on time in another cell. I now want the macro to run automatically when refreshing the workbook with F9, so as the time changes so will the sorting. Everything works fine except the sorting doesn't refresh when F9 is refreshed.
My recorded macro is:
VB: Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim X As Long, FillCT As Long For X = 1 To 4 If Cells(Rows.count, 1).End(xlUp).Offset(0, X - 1) <> "" Then FillCT = FillCT + 1
