I'm trying to create a lookup process for my address part of my invoice, I want it so when I enter the first address it automatically looks up and enters the rest of the information (Title, Name etc.) I've been trying to do this with vlookup and I can't seem to get it to work. I'm just getting #Ref! returned.
My address 'database' (list of addresses etc) are on a seperate sheet to the Invoice.
I'm using excel 2007.
I have a master invoice worksheet and a name/address worksheet within the same workbook.
I want to create a dropdown bar? in the invoice, to select a name and address to put into the invoice.
I have a template invoice in excel. What I want is a macro code that when it is run the open template invoice should be sent to a specific email address !!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a worksheet that gives a list of part numbers based on the product part code. In most cases I can use the following.
=LOOKUP(O6,{0,1,2,3,4},{"NONE (M25)","SMP-55-001","SMP-55-004","SMP-55-008","SMP-55-014"})
so this gives a part number depending on what number is placed in O6. What I need to do know is look at 2 different cells and for each combination of numbers give a different part number. so if A1 is 2 and B1 is 3 give a certain result.
I have a spreadsheet with 2 worksheets. On the first "active parts" I have a list of active part numbers and on the second "All Parts" I have all of the parts available.
I want to compare every part in the All Parts worksheet to see if the part number exists on the Active Parts sheet - if it's there, I would like it to return the value "Active" in column B in All Parts. I have a formula in column B in All Parts that seems to work for the first few, but as soon as it finds one that is active, the rest of the cells below all return "Active".
I've been trying to use combo boxes to open, then copy and paste information from specific worksheets the user requests. So far, my approach has been unsuccessful --and the suggestion to simply use the GetOpenFiles procedure was helpful but failed to address more than the "open files" part of my application. Can variables be part of an excel file address as I've tried to use them in the "strFile =" statement immediately below?

I have a spreadsheet, in which I need to lookup invoice numbers from a raw data file with ~5,000 line items on a daily basis. The lookup is based on two criteria searches (1) search product type (2) search product make. In this example, I have 4 product types:
1 – car
2 – truck
3 – boat
4 – motorcycle
For this example I want to search invoices; (1) first search for cars only (2) search for product make. In my attached example, the first item (cell E2) would return invoice number 7147875-FRD from the raw data file. The second item (cell E3) would return invoice number 7147877-NSN.
Assuming 1st row is a header row

I have an Excel Invoice Template, saved as a template.
I have code that generates a new invoice number each time the template is opened in VBA Editor. The auto numbering system works great! However.... (here comes the sad part)
After I enter all the data I need on the invoice, I want to save a copy of the invoice in a different file folder, which I can no problem. The problem is, if I re-open the saved invoice, we will call it Invoice #100, excel asks me if I want to update, if I say either yes or no, the invoice number will change to Invoice #101. I'm sure you can see how this can cause a major problem if we need to compare information later on, finding the correct invoice would be almost impossible as it would not match the customers invoice number.
What I need to know is:
Is there code I can add to the existing code, to stop the increment on a saved invoice, but not on the original template?
I have a question regarding searching in cells for a value, and returning corresponding data. This is what my workbook looks like:
Sheet1, cell A1 contains value "D600"
Sheet1, cell A2 contains value "V-1234"
Sheet1, cell A3 contains value "DB23"

I am not sure if a vlookup can do the following.

I have created another spreadsheet 2 columns that would have something like:

This 2nd spreadsheet can grow and have more lines.
In column Z of the 1st spreadsheet, I want a formula to look at the second spreadsheet and if any word in the column A of the 1st spreadsheet matches the word in column A of the second spreadsheet, I want it to the value in column B of the second spreadsheet.
I have a range of lookup values I want to use to return the "Cell Reference" of the matching value in another vector (single column).
Is there a simple function that will do this..?
eg a variation of using VLOOKUP
I have a range of cells (C29:BB29) containing zeros and integers, I want to lookup the smallest non-zero value from that range in another range (C11:BB11) and return the cell address from C11:BB11 to use in a further SUM formula.

Is it possible to get the location of the result cell of a lookup result. For example, instead of showing the cell value it shows the cell address of the results of a lookup. You see I have this Summary Report of a payroll system. Everyone doesn't need to pay social charges, except two people, "person1" and "person2". What I want to do is to first look at the names in the report to see if one of those people are listed in the summary(this can be done by lookup, I think). Then go to a different column on the same row as the person. So, for example, "person1" is in a14, then the macro will select the cell say... g14.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a USB scanner connected to a PC. Data is entered into Excel when the part number barcode on a box is scanned. I have two worksheets that I will be scanning part numbers into, one is Group A and the other is Group B. On Group A's sheet there is a list of Group B part numbers that will be used for the lookup procedure when the barcode is scanned. The same is true for Group B's sheet. The groups should never be mixed, so if part number "B005" is scanned into Group A's sheet it should cause an error message to pop up. I've attached a workbook as an example. Is it possible to do this with VBA?

We have the following formula in our timesheets. Basically when we enter a Job number in one cell in say Tab1, it will return the matching project name in a different cell that we have next to the project number. The job number match is done in the tab named "ProjectSchedule", where all the details of the project are listed. We need to extend the match range to include another tab named "CustomSchedule", but I can't figure out how to make the first formula search jobs from both tabs.
Current working formula:

What I'm trying to accomplish, but it not working is something like this:

I have a range of cells (say A1:D8).
I wanna find the address (say $B$2) of the minimum value in that range.
This command does it but it only works on a column. it does not accept a range spanning more than one column.
=CELL("address",INDEX(B2:B7,MATCH(MIN(B2:B7),B2:B7,0)))
this will tell me the address of the minimum value.. but in a column... I need a range of many columns.
So I tried converting things to a Table.. but it never worked. basically the MATCH command is my problem. It only accepts single-column-ed ranges.

i dont know what is the correct range inside the match fuction to identiy the row number inside the Data sheet, i think the solution would be match(a2,Data!a2:a13,0) but things might get complicated if you have multiple worksheet such as sheet2: Data , sheet3: Data2, sheet3: Data 3
and each table has unsorted details compared to others sheets (Data vs Data 2)
I am performing a lookup using the populare user defined function nlookup, which does not take a lookuparray argument to find lookup values. But I only want to return lookup values that fall into a certain array. To accomplish this, I figured out that I need a way to specify a condition of the type "if cell address of lookup value falls within range"
It should be possible if I find a way to return the cell address of the nlookup value, but as nlookup is not limited by a lookuparray argument, so I was not able to use the address/index/match that come up in similar questions.

Also I have a Userform with 2 ComboBoxes named "ComboBox1" and "ComboBox2". Values in ComboBox1 is "Pull my pants", "Eat my shorts", "Socks for everyone".
What I would like to do is to search though column A and look for any of these textstrings in my selection in ComboBox1 and return the value from column B in column C.
Example: "Pull my pants" is selected in ComboBox1 then the value "pants" should be found in column A and value in column B (25) should be entered in cell C2.
I am fairly new to VBA and have spend hours searching Google and found some formulas like InStr and VLookup. My problem is that I am not sure if these statements will do the job and how to combine them.
I try to write the function that gets some "ref" and returns appropriate item.
For example: if I give to function "C3", it returns "AAA"
if I give to function "R18", it returns "BBB" (cause it between R15 to R26)

I tried using the =search() function in an array formula, but I can only get it to work for a single value in the first list.
I am struggling to find a macro which can look at a name in column 'BT' and search it in the address book of Outlook to then place the email address of that person in column 'ED'
There are 35,000+ people in the address book and there may be over 5 email addresses for one name, so is there any way a message can appear for the user to select which email address is correct if there is more than 1 contact for that name?

The first part of the text string is a team code that has a variable number of numbers, capital letters and sometimes spaces. The second part of the text string is a variable number of words in a team name that all start with a capital letter and have lower case letters. Every line has a different team code and team name.
The original spreadsheet also has a column with just team code. Is there a way of using this column to "subtract" the team code from the text string to just leave the team name?
