i have a worksheet filled with numbers in each cell (the worksheet might have a total of 150 rows and 150 columns of numbers).
the numbers typically range from 1-3 or 1-9 or 1-150.
however, there are also multiple 997, 998, and 999 numbers in the cells.
i need to identify the highest number in the worksheet that is not 997, 998, or 999.
I'm trying to figure out a formula to use that will exclude negative numbers. I have two dates. I'm trying to find the difference between the two dates assuming there is a date in the first column. At times there will be a situation where the date in A1 is before the date in A2 and it returns a negative number. I'd like to return a blank if there is a blank cell in column A and also return a blank if the return number is a negative.
Example:
A1 = 1/15/2013 B1= 1/10/2013 C1(formula) =IF(A1="","",(A1-B1) C1 will then reflect 5
A2 = (cell is blank) B2= 1/18/2013 C2 (formula) =IF(A2="","",(A2-B2) C2 will then reflect a blank cell
A3 = 1/5/2013 B3 = 1/15/2013 C3 (formula) =IF(A3="","",(A3-B3) C3 will then reflect -10
I'm trying to figure out a formula that would also allow C3 to reflect a blank cell since the formula returns a negative.

It has managed to exclude the numbers (e.g. 70228, 70229, etc) but not the text strings (e.g. 012*) when summing it up
I need a formula that calculates the values of 5 seperate cells located in different places throughout my sheet. The value will either be numerical or display a text value (normally "RD"). If it displays text I do not want that value counted. So it literally just totals the number values.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a speadsheet where I have a cell that reads a named range via OFFSET. The range consists mainly of numbers but a few cells contain the text UL (Unlimited)
The cell that "reads" the OFFSET is then used in another cell where it is multiplied by either 2 or 3 depending on user input.
The problem occurs where the cell attempts to multiply the text "UL" which results in "#VALUE!"
How can I have this cell with the multiplication bypass the multiplication and simply return the text "UL" in the case of reading text from the named range.
I am using Excel 07 with Vista, and creating a spreadsheet in which users will be inputting a record into every row.
There is a row that requires a number to be entered, where some of the numbers will begin with 0 or 00 or even 0000. I want to make sure no-one incorrectly enters a letter, however with data validation set to whole numbers, it formats the cell to change an entry of "005667" into just "5667". There is no set length for the field.
The only way to have "005667" is the change the column to text, but then obviously that defeats the whole purpose!
We have a list of numbers in a spreadsheet (telephone numbers). The numbers have been put in with () around the country code and hypens separating the rest of the numbers - for example (44) 0111-123456
Is it possible to remove the formatting to just read as a full number e.g 0111123456? I have loads to do and the thought of doing it manually is painful!
I have a list of files in folders.
When I make the index of those folder, i have an excel list with in column A these numbers

these numbers wont be the same every time, but in theory after i enter 12 rows there should be only 5/6 numbers left max.
i need a script so that when i copy/paste 12 rows, i can be presented with the numbers not in that field. or even if i have a field of 1-80 displayed, then i copy paste my numbers in the fields below and can somehow highlight which numbers between 1-80 aren't in my pasted fields on the 1-80 field.
btw the numbers missing here are 24-68
ps im using excel starter 10 if that makes a difference
Open a brand new spreadsheet whether the format is set to "General" or "Text" it will not let me enter numbers. For example, when I enter 2007 in the cell it displays 20 07 not really that big of space between the two zeros - but still a space. I can't format this no matter what I do.

I have a number in cell F16 that can be changed and for this example say it has a value of 900.
I have a number in cell F17 that is always more than cell F16, for this example lets say it is 1000.
What I'm trying to do is create 10 numbers evenly increasing away from 900 (F16) in value, & 10 numbers evenly decreasing in value away from 900 (Cell F16) but here's the catch.
What makes this tricky is that the numbers that are increasing in value away from 900 (F16) can't be bigger than the value of F17 , IE in this example the number 1000
So the formulas must evenly distribute 10 numbers BETWEEN 900 & 1000. This must have the same even distribution for the increasing numbers & decreasing numbers.
I'll attach a sheet also. So, if you say 900 is a starting point & 1000 is the ending point, what formulas would you need in each cell to evenly increase to 1000?
Also,, going the other way, decreasing, away from 900 at the same rate as the increase?
Really stuck n this 1.

The different job positions are numbered 1-6 and are as follows: #1=5:30am-1:30pm, #2=6:00am-2:00pm, #3=9:30am-1:30pm, #4=12:00pm-8:00pm, #5=1:00pm-8:00pm & #6=6:00pm-8:00pm. Numbers 1,2,4,5 clock-out for a 30 minute lunch break, while the other numbers do not.
My goal is to insert the numbers 1-6 into the spreadsheet throughout the 14 days for each employee, and have Excel calculate the total number of hours for each employee in the far right column. I would also like "V" & "H" to equal 7.5 hours. This would save a lot of time instead of going through and adding up the hours with a calculator
I want to show numbers on my excel spreadhseet in thousands. However, the challenge is I want to show negtive numbers in red within brackets. For instance, I have a number -104,784,089. I want to display it as (104,784) in red color. Similarly, I want to show 577,090 as 577. Is there a customer formatting I can set up in excel that do that?

I don't want to just send it to the printer as individual print jobs. I would like to send it to print as a pdf in a single 100 page document or if not a pdf then just as a multiple page document.
For example first print run would start at number 1001 and last numbered page is 1101.
I have WorkbookA that pull numbers from WorkbookB. In Cell D2 of WorkbookA is the name of WorkbookB. The data to be pulled from WorkbookB is in Cells H364 through S364, H being data for January and S being data for December. In January, the data from Cell H364 is pulled into WorkbookA. In February, the data from Cell I364 is pulled into WorkbookA, and so on.
The formula can be written such that, based on WorkbookA indicating in Cell B14 the current month, each month pulls the correct month's data from these cells in WorkbookB.
I have a table with 5 columns and approx. 85-90 rows.
Column A has the Branch name in it e.g. Beavers or Bedfont (11 Branches in total)
Column B has User Type - Adult, Child, Guest (Adult), Guest (Child), Catalogue
Column C has Session Type - Booking, Drop-In
Column D has Total Session Time (mins) - which gives a number in minutes of the total session time used
Column E is not needed
I currently get a calculator and add up e.g all of the adult Bookings for Beavers and enter them onto a Report Sheet, then all of the Adult Drop-Ins for Beavers etc. I want an Excel Spreadsheet that will give me a total number for each so I can do away with the calculator.
I am thinking of creating a new sheet with a number of cells that have a formula similar to this
=IF(AND(A2="Beavers",B2="Adult",C2="Booking"),E2,0)
But I want it to see Adult, Guest (Adult) and Catalogue as the same thing / and I want it to pick up Child and Guest (Child) as the same thing.

For various reasons, I need to determine how many total calculations are being performed in a spreadsheet. These can be IF statements, sum, max, vlookups etc but I am looking to determine the quantity. I do not need to know how many of each just how many in total.
Is there a relatively simple method of conducting this search? I don't mind VBA code, etc.
I have a userform with a spreadsheet in it and I am inserting data into a workbook(my data base) with this application. In the spreadsheet changing event I used "0.00" number format (this is what I need) but the results after I type a number is diferent from what I just typed. i.e: if I type 13.56 there is no problem but if i type 6.56 the number is transformed to 20607.00. I have tryed a lot of methods to stop doing that but all of them failed. how to use decimal number format without this problem

I would like to print the tabs such that the first tab has the number '1' in the footer, the second tab has '2' etc. And I don't want to go into each tab and type the number in the footer.
Does anyone know how to easily make this happen?
What i'm looking to do is create a spreadsheet where the first page allows me to input the number of teams in the group.The teams cannot play others in the group except the ones they are paired with. eg. "Enter number of team pairs in set" (in this case 4)
Team 1a vs Team 1b
Team 2a vs Team 2b
Team 3a vs Team 3b
Team 4a vs Team 4b
After number of teams in set is established click a start button on the first tab of the spreadsheet.
this auto generates a new tab with all the possible win/loss combinations of 4 team pairs.

if the number of teams on Tab 1 is changed (say to 6) and the start button is clicked, another new tab is generated with all possible win loss combinations of a 6 team set.
remember 1a vs 1b can only be win or lose and the win lose combinations are for the set of 4 matches ( or more matches if specified on the first tab and clicked).
if you put 7 in for the number of team pairs then it would be win loss combos for 7 pairs of teams.
I would love to be able to limit the number of rows in a specific sheet so that I can quickly carry formulas to the bottom of a worksheet without carrying them to row 1,048,576. I'm aware of options to hide rows and/or to limit the scrolling with the "view code" option on the worksheet tab; however, I'm mainly worried about worksheet performance. When I carry a formula down, I don't want to see a spinning blue circle run for minutes at a time, and I'm hoping to avoid the same spinning circle when I undo my formula. Is there any way to actually limit the number of rows, or is there any other limitation I could put in that would increase worksheet performance?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the need to filter out letters put in after a number in a time card spreadsheet. I'm not sure that using a select case is the right approach. I need to allow the user to put in a number and a letter signifying what type of time it is. Each cell equals a date on a calendar. For example if the user puts in 8s then the code will add 8 hours to the total sick time, strip out the s and just leave 8 in the cell. The problem is that I need to deal with all of the other letters/symbols that they can enter. From what I know of VBA which isn't much a Select Case seems to be way to go without using a bunch of nested If statements. Here is what I would like to do but this doesn't work. This is a short example of what I have tried as far as Select Case goes.

We will have about an hour to complete the counts to determine winners, so a short time frame.
