Specific Criteria To Be Blank
Aug 16, 2007
I created a database query in my Excel file that queries an Access database. The query has a few parameters and these are tied to certain cells that contain drop down lists for the user to select the parameters.
I am having problems though if the user wants a specific criteria to be blank. Instead of showing all the records that meet the other criteria, the entire result is blank. For example, if I query for Total Sales based on the parameters Building, Floor and City and I select the City, but don't enter anything for Building and Floor, my result is nothing. I would like the result to be the Total Sales for that City, irregardless of the Building and Floor.
I am not sure how to create this. I assume I would need to put something in the criteria field in MS Query, but I have no idea what.

Looking to have a macro call a subroutine every time it finds a cell meeting specific criteria.
Code in plain english would look like this:
For EACH cell in range A1:BZ500 meeting the following criteria:
Cell value is a date
AND
Cell's date is at least a week or more in the future
AND
Cell background (Fill) = RGB color code: (R:191 G:191 B:191)
DO the following:
Call repeatingsub

I have written such loop which I want to delete entire row when a given cell is empty:
Code:
lastrow = Cells(Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Row
For Counter = lastrow To 2 Step -1
If Cells(Counter, 6).Value = "" Then
Selection.Rows(Counter).EntireRow.Delete
End If
Next
It works not the way I want. It has ommited some blank rows and also removes 5th row everytime I run it.

Add a blank space after a specific text? I have many cells in a column that all begin with the same two letters followed by more text. Something like this:
ab123
ab456
ab789
ab159
ab951
What I'd like to see is:
ab 123
ab 456
ab 789
ab 159
ab 951

A macro that will delete a tab or tabs in a file if and only if rows 11, 13, 23 & 25 are completely blank within that tab?
So basically ALL rows would need to be blank, if there is any data within any of those rows, then tab should NOT be deleted.

I have created a form where a date and remark is added every few days. I am using Phone Number as the base of VLookup. I want a code so that the date and remark which is entered in a Text Box, is stored in the first available blank cell pertaining to that employee. I want the first date and remark to be under "Date 1" and "Remark 1".
Thereafter, if another remark is subsequently added for that employee, the form would ask to enter his phone number to identify which employee the remark pertains to. Then the Text Box where remark is entered should be stored under "Remark 1" if there has been no remark before, "Remark 2" if "Remark 1" already exists, "Remark 3" if "Remark 2" already exists and so on.
I do not want to enter it in a new row. I want to enter the remark in the next blank cell of the row which matches the employee Phone Number.

I want to insert blanks rows above rows that have the number 1 inserted in column C.
I about 60,000 rows in all, doing it manually takes forever because I have to keep waiting for Excel to push the rows down every time I insert a new row.
Is there an efficient way to grab all the rows with a 1 in column C and insert rows in one swoop? If not, I will settle for any way other than manually.

I was wondering if someone might be able to assist me with using VB to insert a new row below a cell containing specific text.
For example:
- All of my data is in column A
-I want to scan all of column A, and if there is a cell that contains "ACHCAMERIGROUP M", then I want a blank row inserted below it. If column A does NOT contain that text....do nothing.

I'm trying to figure out the if conditions for this relatively simple problem. Basically, this is an import from a word document where the table strays onto a new page. I want to try and repair this with a bit of VBA.
This is what it looks like:
1: cell 1 |the content should all be in this cell
2: |but the import sometimes splits it into two
3: cell 2 |
Basically if and only if cell Ax is blank (in this example A2), then I want the rows to merge each cell and repair the table.

I have a row in a table from columns C to CZ. All the cells in the row contain a formula, between 1 and 204 cells in the row will have a value (i.e. will not be blank).
The cells with a value will start at column C and may or may not have a blank cell before no more values and blank cells to the end (Col GZ).
Example:
C D E F G H I J K >..........................GZ
23 34 67 74 2 34 6 2 56 all blank ("") to end
or:
C D E F G H I J K >..........................GZ
23 34 67 "" "" 34 6 all blank ("") to end
I need to hide the entire columns when the cells in this row are blank but NOT if the blank cell has valued cells after it (i.e. do not hide columns F and G in the second example.
I can do this by looping back from col GZ and hiding the columns one at a time, which is very slow. I am stuck on the code to select all the relavent columns and hide together.

I have a spreadsheet with columns and columns of data. What I'd like to do is identify which rows have blank/no data in all specified columns (H, K, O, S, U, W, and Y).
To clarify, I need to identify each row where all of these columns are blank (as opposed to each row where at least 1 column is blank).

Dim body As String

=INDEX(E1:E99,MATCH(1,(A1:A99=Selections!J5)*(E1:E99="F"),0))
and then ctrl + shift + enter

I have the following sumproduct formula which looks in one column to search for a series of dates (greater than one date and less than another date). It then looks in column O to see if there are certain criteria if the date criteria is met. The problem is I have a lot of blank cells in column O which need to be captured.
I have this:
=SUMPRODUCT(--('Raw Data'!$B$2:$B$50000>=$H$2+0)*('Raw Data'!$B$2:$B$50000

I have a spreadsheet that contains given answers to a multiple choice test. I want to count the number of times each possible answer has been chosen at the bottom of the column. I have tried to use COUNTIF and that works fine to give me the number times each answer has been chosen but there is just one annoying thing. If the given answer hasn't been chosed by anyone, a "0" is automatically entered into the cell. This tends to really clutter up the spreadsheet and I would prefer for the cell to be left blank if the answer hasn't been chosen by anyone.
The closest I can come up with is: {=IF(D1:D10="","",COUNTIF(D1:D10,"A"))} but unless the answer "A" is chosed in D1, the cell remains blank.
If "A" is chosed in D1, then the formula works and counts all the rest of the cells that have "A" as an answer.

I have a very large database of quotes. I have created a user interface with several textbox inputs, combobox inputs, and checkboxes. When the commandbutton is pressed I need a list of quote numbers to be generated based on the criteria the user input. I found an example program from here that is for ADVANCED EXCEL FIND. It only uses combo boxs and goes to those rows on datasheet. I have text input and checkbox inputs as well and I don't want it to take the user to the rows, I want just the quote numbers from the rows to be sent back to a textbox. I also read over one based on filtering data in a listbox.
This is my first program in VB, but I did quite a bit in C++ before. I can pretty much understand what all the coding says, I just am overwhelmed with it being so large and not sure how to put it all together.

I have 3 named range columns to query and a fourth from which I wish to return a value
Column 1 is called DateOE, column 2 is called NameOE and column 3 is called RunOE. The column from which I require the value is named ConcOE.
I have the following formula:
=IF(AND(DateOE=28,NameOE="Wayne",RunOE=1),ConcOE,"No Data")
My logic dictates that the formula should return whatever was run by Wayne on run number 1 on the 28th day from the values within ConcOE or return the value No Data.
The run numbers are unique, which is the identification key.
Every time I try it out, I have a #Value returned and if I convert to an array, the value no data is returned, despite the fact that I know what value should be retuned.

I need to create a formula that counts up the number of times a specific word is put into a cell lets say 'Carpet' only when another cell is left blank.
Count the number of times between C1:10 the word 'Carpet' is input only when D1:10 is left BLANK?
If looked into DCOUNTA formulas and SUMPRODUCT formulas but seem to be clutching at straws.
My problem seems to be at referring the formula to the BLANK cell?

I have set up a formula to count the occurrences of multiple conditions in a table of data (see below..) the formula reads from 4 cells of criteria but I will not always use the 4 criteria and maybe only need to use say 2 criteria - when I do this my formula doesn't work - my example below shows this... How do I make the formula continue to work when some criteria cells don't have any entries?
This table is a simple example but my main work will have a much larger table (poss. several thousand rows) and probably about 10 criteria cells, so running a big formula with 10 nested IF statements will be too cumbersome... any smart workround for this within the SUMPRODUCT formula?
The top left cell (Fruit) is A1..
FruitColoursTownsNamesApplesRedLondonHarryApplesGreenParisBertPearsBlueLondonFred
PlumsRedVeniceSteveApplesRedLondonBertCriteriaResultFruitPears0ColoursTownsLondonNamesFred
FruitColoursTownsNamesApplesRedLondonHarryApplesGreenParisBertPearsBlueLondonFred
PlumsRedVeniceSteveApplesRedLondonBertCriteriaResultFruitPears0ColoursTownsLondonNamesFred
The formula currently in my Result cell is
=SUMPRODUCT((A2:A6=B10)*(B2:B6=B11)*(C2:C6=B12)*(D2:D6=B13))
which returns 0 and should be 1 in this example...
