AVERAGEIF Function For Multiple Columns?

Mar 11, 2014

I'm looking to average the numbers contained within 5 different columns if the corresponding cell in a different column is blank.

Here's what I have currently (with column A being the conditional cells and D:H being what I'm looking to average)

=AVERAGEIF(A3:A26, "", D3:H26)

From what I understand, this function only allows me to average a single column. If this is in fact a limitation of excel and not just of my knowledge, is there a different way to calculate the average of D3:H26 when the corresponding cell in column A is blank?

Use The AVERAGEIF Function On The Screenshot?

Jun 5, 2014

I am trying to use the AVERAGEIF function on the below screenshot. I have a mix of text cells (ignored by default), 0s, and whole numbers from 25-100. For some reason, the value in Q16 is incorrectly averaged. The interesting thing is, I have similar data and function in R16 and it is working as expected.

Q16 =AVERAGEIF(B16:B16:D16:D16:F16:F16:H16:H16:J16:J16:L16:L16:N16:N16,">0") --> expected value of 275/3 (decimal rounding 0 places) is 92[code]....

Averageif Function With Wildcards?

In cell k2 I am trying to average all of the December data without individually clicking each cell (Ex: Dec-09, Dec-10, Dec-11, Dec-12). I was thinking of doing Averageif formula like =AVERAGEIF(G2:G57,"Dec*",H2:H57) but I get the dreaded #DIV error.

Utilize AVERAGEIF Function For Specific Range Of Values?

Is it possible to utilize the AVERAGEIF function for a specific range of values. For Example, instead of ">45", I would be looking to only average the cells that have values between 40 & 60. I've tried several different ways to input that into the function but nothing seems to work.

Countifs Function With Multiple Columns?

This is the function I have now: =COUNTIFS(Sheet1!A:A,Sheet2!A2,(Sheet1!E:E),"*") and it works great, counting every cell with a value in column E.

When I make criteria range 3 another column (criteria also being"*") my numbers actually start going down. I think it might be averaging the two columns out or something but I just want it to count all the cells with values in it from multiple columns and give me a total count.

I have 4 columns total that I want to be able to get a total count from.

Averageif, ###############, H:mm

I am trying to calculate time in the ER, avg. time in the ER, and time before seen in minutes USING the Averageif function. However, in the columns that I am trying to calculate, there are a lot of ######### and 0:00. So I thought that if I use =AVERAGEIF(AL2:AL47,">0") then that would exclude the ######## and the 0:00.

However, it seems that the formulas are not working. For example, one column contains 00:10, 00:04, 00:05, then a lot of ########, and 0:00.

When I take the =AVERAGEIF(AL2:AL47,">0") of this whole colum then it gives me and average of 18:02!!!!

18 hours and 2 minutes can not be correct!

Trying To Imitate AVERAGEIF() With An OR() Test.

Dec 17, 2008

I've got a spreadsheet I use to track quality scores, it will appear like such, and with 2003 I don't have AVERAGEIF()

name | team | score
joe f | billing | 3
may r | billing | 3
roy m | status | 1
kay t | first call | 1
etc...

I already used an array function to find the average of each team (even with empty scores) by using:

=AVERAGE(IF(DeptRange=$B$7,C$20:C$200)) [Ctrl-Shift-Enter]

EDIT: Incidentally, I changed AVERAGE() to COUNT(), and it kicked back 9 values instead of 3 (I have one value entered for each team atm). B7 is the name of the department I'm finding the average for. I've got 3 departments in one location, and 6 in another location. I'm trying to add OR() to give me our regional quality averages, and it's not working. I used:

=AVERAGE(IF(OR(DeptRange=$B$7,DeptRange=$B$9,DeptRange=$B11),C$20:C$200)) [Ctrl-Shift-Enter]

Adding Multiple Cells From Multiple Sheets With Sumif Function

Jan 20, 2009

I'm trying to put together a spreadsheet that tracks disc capacity increases, affected by any incoming projects. I've managed to do so for one project, but would like to for up to 10. The way i've designed the solution (i'm sure there are far more elegant ways, but hey) is thus:

A forecast worksheet keeps track of a grand total, taking information from sheets P1 -> P10 (being projects 1 to 10). I am unable to figure a way to add up all the increases from all 10 project worksheets with one succinct formula. What I use so far is: ='P1'!C83+SUMIF('P1'!E82,"=2009 - Q1",'P1'!D82) ..................

Multiple Columns Which Need To Be Combined With Some Columns Not Having All Cells Fill

Apr 30, 2014

I have a spreadsheet with 10 columns which are for tags for products. Some columns are filled in for 10 products and some are not. For instance, product 1 has 7 tags while product 2 has only 2 tags and so on. Now what I am looking to do is combine all the tags for each product with a "," inbetween each one. The problem is if I just use a simple =A2&","&B2&","&C2 etc formula is that if there are only 2 tags then I get 8 ","s. I also tried it with an IF statement but by the time I was done nesting items I became cross eyed and said there has to be an easier way to do this.

I have create a spreadsheet with the data and the result that I typed into the "result" column.

Copy Multiple Columns Groups To 1 Group Of X Columns

Aug 6, 2009

Example:................

The key point is that I have over 400 columns grouped in three, offset by one row down for each (this is due to a different formula I have working). Each column is 60 numbers long (not including empty cells above data). I want to copy all of these columns into a single set of three columns on another sheet (Sheet2). (These will be the fifth, sixth, and seventh columns, E, F, and G. If it would be simpler, I could simply copy the third of each set of columns on Sheet1 (C, F, I) to column G of Sheet2. Then there would be a total of 144 columns being copied (60 numbers per column).) All of this copying has to be values-only as the original columns consist of formulas referencing outside cells. Sheet2 should look like this:.............

Sort Multiple Columns, With Blanks, And Move All Columns Into One

Feb 15, 2010

I found this code on Ozgrid to sort all columns of a worksheet that were continuous with no gaps or spaces that works well:

Sub CopyToA()
Do While ActiveCell <> ""
Range(ActiveCell, ActiveCell.End(xlDown)).Cut Destination:=Range("a65535").End(xlUp).Offset(1, 0)
ActiveCell.Offset(0, 1).Select
Loop
End Sub

However, I've tried to manipulate the code myself to 1) find all columns that aren't empty then 2) sort each column individually (WITHOUT expanding the sort to other columns) and 3) combining all the numbers into one seperate column. There are many posts concerning sorting but not one that addressed this particular situation.

Moving Data From Two Columns Into Multiple Columns?

Feb 24, 2013

I have a large database of research data where the first column contains different categories (labelled as I, II, III, IV, V, and VI). For each row there is a data value in the second column that is numeric. What I need to do is move the data so that the data are displayed in 6 columns with the data values listed each column heading according to the category label. In the example I've shown there are 6 different categories, but the number of categories (and hence the number of columns in the final resulting sheet) will change for different data sets that I'm using. Also note the the number of cases for each different category is different (so that each column will not be even in terms of the number of rows of data under each column heading). I hope I've been able to explain what I'm looking for clearly.

I've attached a sample file showing the sample data input that I have on one sheet, and then the desired re-tablulated outcome on the second. I have done this using the auto-filter function and copy/paste, but this will take far too long for the larger datasets I'm working with.
