Chart - Highlighting: Show All Of The Data

I'm currently writing an automatic report to display information about a store and how it compares to its peers. My company works on a National>Region>Area>Store basis so my report lets a user select a store and the excel file brings back all the data for the relevant national, region and area data for comparison. That works fine.
I now want to develop a set of pages which display data for that store compared to other stores in the same area. For example: [URL]
My report brings back all the stores, ranks them by their performance against target and then puts them in a sorted table using vlookups. I then want to put them into the bar chart shown above, with the store selected highlighted with a different colour. In the example above, the Hunslet store is selected so its bar is highlighted.
Is there any way to make the store highlight automatic? I manually set the colours in the example but I don't want the user to have to do that each time. It would be possible to do using a macro, but I try and avoid them where I can since VBA knowledge is extremely limited in my office.
I have named ranges containing the names and lookup codes for the selected store, area and region .
I am trying to calculate a percentage complete based on what a cells color is, the function must count the cells of a certain color (signifying in this case that something is complete for a particular "area") and distinguish that from cells in the same data range that aren't colored and calculate the percentage that are complete.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have got a lot of data to put in a chart that updates every 5 minutes with new data - i have a chart that Line chart that shows this.
It shows the cost of something every 5 minutes.
I have put this in a chart using offset but obviously i want to show the cost over the course of the day - because this updates every 5 minutes, the axis at the bottom (which has the time of the data) is massive and doesn't look good.
Is there a way to show the axis at an hourly interval but keep all the data in the chart?
How can I add missing values to the axis in a pivot chart line chart? I have a numerical X-axis with values such as 0,1,5,8,14, etc. I have another set of Y values that correspond to the X values. If this was an XY-scatter plot I'd be able to plot X vs. Y and connect the dots for "gaps" in the X values. Since it's a pivot chart I cannot use an XY-scatter plot, I can only use a line chart. The line chart doesn't give me the ability to add the "missing" values, so it gives the impression that my data is more closely packed than it is. The data source is external to my spreadsheet, so I cannot add the values before creating the pivot table/chart.
View 1 Replies View Related I have created a pie chart showing top 10 best selling categories. However, on this pie chart, I want %age of overall sales to be shown.
At the moment say I put in the following
Catalogue 1 100
Catalogue 2 98
Catalogue 3 92
Catalogue 4 85
Catalogue 5 84
Catalogue 6 75
[Code]....
I add Data Labels and select the percentages. This shows at Cat 1 having 12.5% of the sales (100 of 800 sales), Cat 2 having 12.25%, and so on..... However, what you don't see is the following data:
Catalogue 11 60
Catalogue 12 58
Catalogue 13 57
Catalogue 14 57
Catalogue 15 56
So based on 1,088 sales, Cat 1 at 100 is actually only 9.19% of TOTAL sales.
I understand what is happening, the chart is giving the percentage based on the data inputted into the chart.
I did consider adding an 11th category to the chart, which was the total of Catalogues 11-15. Whilst this does give a more accurate percentage figure (as now all sales have been inputted), it makes the chart look ****
Is there a way of either adding the 11th category, and then "hiding" it, so that the chart doesn't display it, but uses it's value to calculate Catalogues 1-10s percentage?
BTW: The reason I ask is that I could be dealing with anywhere from 30 to over 100 catalogues. So it's not ideal showing the others in 1 chart.
I just recently installed Excel 2007 and I would like to know if it's possible to change all data points of a chart at the same time. In Excel 2003, I would normally hold down shift while clicking on each of the data points to make a global change. However, it appears I cannot do that in 2007.
I would like to display each data point's series name. When I go to Layout on the Excel Ribbon, and click on "Data Labels", and click on "More Data Label Options", the actual Y-axis values are shown for each data point. However, I do not want this - I actually only want the Series Name, but when I uncheck "Value" and check "Series Name" instead (under "Label Contains"), it only changes it for one of the series. Is there a better way, instead of going through each and every single series to make this change?
I found this spreadsheet on here and I have been trying to customize it to what I need. I am trying to have scores from skins match highlighted. I want only the minimum score to be highlighted but if there is another duplicate minimum score I don't want it to highlight anything. I also need to find a way to count the skins won by each player and have it off to the side.
For those not familiar with golf a Skin is a game where you try to get the lowest amount of strokes on a specific hole. Ex- 4 people play the hole one. P1 scores 4, P2 gets a 3, P3 and P4 get 6. The skin would go to P2 who has the lowest score on that hole.
Highlight lowest number in each column not highlighting if there are duplicates starting at L6 down to L11 and for each column till AC. And the same for the group just to the right on attached file.
On row 13 and 14 it tells me who won a skin. I want to tally up the total skins won by each player. so if Joe's names shows up twice on R14 I want it to tell me somewhere in the sheet Joe = 2
I'm trying to display a graph I've created in a worksheet, in a userform. But it won't work ..
Private Sub UserForm_Initialize()
Sheets("graphraw1").Select

End Sub
Is it possible to show a table on a chart?
ie. Display a Range of Cells right on the chart?
I am trying to add the date my charts were created. I have the date the charts were created in a cell then I added a text box to each chart referencing the cell with the date. On some of the charts the date is showing. But on other charts on same sheet, the date only shows when selecting the chart area of the chart but disappears when selecting other charts or cells on the same sheet.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet where users can enter a time using the 24 hour clock - these times are random and can be anything within the 24 hour period.
I want to create a chart or graph that has a timeline of 24 hours, (in multiples of 1 hour starting at 07:00 and going right through to 06:00), and I need the times entered by the users to appear on the chart to give an overview of when these incidents are happening most.
I was thinking that the cluster or scatter chart might work but I can't figure it out. I don't actually need both X and Y Axis, just a timeline - is it possible?
Any way using a macro so that a chart will not show the "0" columns?

I have a chart with event timestamps (2008-06-09 14:48:15.973) and two event types (A and B) with about 12000 events in total. I want to show a chart (probably line chart) that plots the frequency of events on a time axis (e.g. very many event A last night, not so many today, etc). I figure two time series with A and B independently so user can compare visually. But I dont know how to efficiently convert the events into a counter/frequency of events variable/column.
Ive looked into DSUM, DCOUNT & FREQUENCY functions to make a new column that shows how many events have happened in the previous 10 minutes without success. DCOUNT/DSUM problem: some of the criteria fields are computed by formula (date column minus ten minutes).
I have a chart that feeds from dynamic ranges which contain whole rows of null enteries displayed as #N/A. The charts do not plot these enteries (as it shouldn't) however it does display the category label even if it too is #N/A. Is it possible to remove the category label if all data for that row is null. ie the label is also removed from the chart.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet that I need to highlight the last row next to the name in column E where the date in column C is 35 days or less than the current date in cell A2.
For eg if there are 10 names containing the name "James" in Column E and the last date in column C (say C20) in line with James is 35 days or less than the current date in A2, then the entire row from A to G for eg A20:F20 must be highlighted in grey.
I need VBA code that will do this for me.
I have attached in sample spreadshhet. In the attached example A14:G14 and A16:G16 must be highlighted in grey
I have a chart with multiple series which I am hoping to show/hide based upon a particular value attached to each series. I was therefore wondering if it was possible to extend the Series object class so that I could have something along the lines of a "Series.specialvalue" property which I could assign and then check to decide whether to show or hide the series?

Taking onboard what you suggested I have "rethought" the layout and it is now in a single table format. What had stopped me doing this previously was the fact that I was not able to show 7 days a week for 48 weeks in columns. However thanks to the transpose function all the data is now more user friendly (See Attached Workbook)
You mention the data should be quite easy to manipulate from here, any ideas as I am struggling with the concept of how to display the data in a time series. I assume that it will involve some form of lookup function referenced to the table of times, but thats as far as i can get.
Attached is a simple chart and I would like Users to be able to tick a checkbox to show/don't show 'available' series. In the example If the User clicks for Group 1, then only Customer A's data is shown. If Only Checked Group B, then Customer B and C are displayed. If both boxes are checked, then all three Customer's figures will show. (Hopefully depending on what's ticked, the chart's scale would adjust accordingly)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI created 5 charts and instead of having them spread everywhere in the worksheet, I would like them to be "reduced" to some kind of a link contained in a cell (at the botom of the data of each chart). Then, I would like the chart to appear only if I put the mouse on this cell.

I have a spreadsheet where I track income (positive) and expense (negative) items and compare budget to actual amounts. I want to create a simple bar graph comparing budgeted amounts to actual amounts for each item.
However, when I do this, I see all of my income items above the line (pointing up) and all of the expense items below the line (pointing downward).
Is there an option I can select to just use absolute values for the items so they all appear above the line?
So I played around with the macro i posted on the previous thread, two allow me to compare two columns of data to see if they contain the same information, and have come up with the below, which works almost flawlessly:
[Code]....
The idea being that it compares the two rows of data, then in the colmun to the right puts a y or n if the data is contained in both cells. I have added in some code that related to highlighting those cells with 'n' in the allow me to see it much easier. The macro works fine, however it seems that when it runs, it will sometimes highlight random cells not in column d, for example colum g etc.
I have 1 Excel Doc that has 3 worksheets (DATA, COVER, TPA). DATA is where i input the data and COVER and TPA are where the data needs to end up. both COVER and TPA are standardized sheets that i do not change...only the data coming in will change.
How can i make it so that whatever row in DATA i highlight, that row's data will be entered in to the correct spots on both COVER and TPA. when i highlight a different row, then the data will change to that row's data in both COVER and TPA (hope i'm explaining this correctly).
right now i can only do 1 row by using (=DATA!$D$2). basically i want the '2' that is representing the row to be whatever row i have highlighted. if i highlight row 51 i want the formula to read (=DATA!$D$51).
can anyone please help. i can put up a copy of the spreadsheet if need be, i am just hesitant cause of the confidential info. i would need to change the names and numbers to protect the innocent.
I am trying to create a chart that would show all of the Amount values for each Size value that is in the example data below. The Size column has fixed values. In my example the values are: .5, 1, 2, 5, 8, 13 and 21. The Amount column data is variable. Any of the static Size values can be associated with many Amount values. I was attempting to have the static Size values on the X (horizontal) axis and the Amount values on the Y (vertical) axis. I would like to have all of the Amount values for each Size value be shown directly above the corresponding size value, in one vertical line. See example below.
I an creating this type of chart in Excel 2010.
Note, I am still new to this forum and don't know how to post pictures or Excel data into my posts. I am also using dots (periods) to provide separation in my examples.
Amount...Size

1........... 0.5
2........... 1
1.5.........1
27.5.......13
12.5.......5

I have a large compilation of data on an excel work sheet (I am using 2013). All cells relate to each other by means of dates, names, and other numeric values such as stock numbers, id numbers etc... In one column some stock numbers are repeated. I would like to know if there is a way to set up the program on this worksheet to highlight all repeating stock numbers, not only in the column but across the cells as well, in lieu of doing so manually.
