I'd like to insert some radio buttons in a worksheet that activate a hyperlink to a web page and then be able to go back to where I started (ie the radio button)
I can link the button to a macro which was a recording of clicking on a hyperlink. The trouble is when I hit the return arrow to return to the sheet from the web page I go back to the location of the hyperlink not where I started from.
Is there a way to do this with the buttons.
If I can rearrange the sheet to allow for more narrow columns I may be able to just use the hyperlink friendly name argument and do it that way but I'm not so sure I can insert more narrow columns without messing up the layout of the whole sheet. With a button I can float several of them over an area regardless of the width of the columns.
I am trying to create a worksheet that has multiple radio buttons. Each radio button is linked to a Macro. I need there to be many buttons running down one side of the worksheet. Each button needs to perform a macro that is relevant to the cells in the same row that it is on.
Essentially what i am trying to do is make a macro that when the button is pressed copys data from H6 and paste it into B6. The button is situated above I6. I need a button for each row from 6 to 110.
While this macro is easy to create (i use the record button and then assign the macro to the button), i would have to do this 104 times and assign a new macro to each button.
Is there a quicker way?
I'm using Excel 2007 and I'm a VBA novice.
Problem: The macro will be assigned to a command button and will be used by laypersons when they finish filling in data on a worksheet in Workbook 1. The sheet contains maybe 30 columns and 50 rows with a mix of fixed values and values generated by Vlookup and Indirect formulas. I need to copy the sheet from Workbook 1 to Workbook 2. Workbook 2 will be for archival purposes so I want to convert all formulas to fixed values. The catch is dealing with some cells that contain hyperlinks to PDF files...
Current Solution: I currently do this with a macro that moves/copies the sheet from Workbook 1 to Workbook 2, it then selects all cells in the new sheet in Workbook 2, copies all cells, then pastes-special "as values" to the exact same cell locations. This works great for me since the cell formatting and data in the sheet are VERY irregular and I have merged cells all over the place. This method keeps the exact formatting I need maintain:

The problem is that a few of the cells have hyperlinks with "friendly names" and I lose the hyperlinks when I convert to values. The hyperlinks are not inserted directly, they are created by a formula, =HYPERLINK("N:Filepath"&C16&".PDF", "Click_For_PDF"), and the row and column that contains the hyper link will vary for each sheet I want to migrate from Workbook 1 to Workbook 2 using this macro. I want to keep the hyperlink active with the clickable friendly name in Workbook 2.
Possible Solution: I'm open to all types of solutions, but is there a way to essentially use my existing macro but AFTER converting to values with paste-special, go back to the original sheet in Workbook 1 that still contains formulas (or maybe a temporary duplicate sheet I migrate to Workbook 2?), search for all cells with a "value" of "Click_For_PDF", copy ONLY those cells and paste (normal) into the corresponding cell locations in the sheet in Workbook 2 that now contains fixed values? ALL of my hyperlinks have the friendly name "Click_For_PDF" so it should be an easy way to identify the hyperlink cells. The cell location of the hyperlink copied in Workbook 1 needs to carry over to Workbook 2 and I said before, the row and col vary with every sheet I want to archive with this macro.
Any way to have multiple hyperlinks to various files in one cel?
I want to the hyperlink to change based upon information entered in which i want it to copy an address from another sheet using the VLookup command.
We have recently updated our office server the name was Procast-fs8 and is now Procast-fs6. eg old address \Procast-fs8docsQualitysuper secret doc.xlsx. new address \Procast-fs6docsQualitysuper secret doc.xlsx. we have a central quality control document in excel which uses hyperlinks there are around 5000 links in this document and i need to change all of them so they work with the new server address.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Excel 2007, and I have column 1 with a thousand entries "HC 14-0001" all the way down to "HC 14-1000". I have on my hard drive 1000 foldiers named the exact same "HC 14-0001 to HC 14-1000". I want to create a Hyperlink from each item in that column to its corrisponding folder on the hard drive. I can easily create the Hyperlink, but I want to find someway to copy them. I can create the first two rows... HC 14-0001 and HC 14-0002 and create good Hyperlinks to the folders, but when I highlight them and drag them down, the excel spreedsheet is updated all the way to HC 14-1000, but the Hyperlinks do not change.
How can I get the Hyperlinks to change? I don't want to spend the next week creating Hyperlinks for a 1000 entries on this spread sheet, and I have 5 other spreadsheets exactly the same.
I have a spreadsheet and within the first sheet there are lots of hyperlinks to other cells within sheet 1 (my template).
I have made a small macro which very basically makes a copy of sheet 1 (my template)
The hyperlinks in the template are explicit and as they are copied to sheet two, they still reference back to cells in sheet 1. I need the hyperlinks to be relative, so that when I make a copy of the template the hyperlinks are copied and make reference to cells in the new sheet. I cannot work out how this should be done

On those 16 sheets, I would like to have two buttons (32 buttons in all). One button is to print (and does quite a bit of formatting) the report for that month and the other submits the report (formats, saves, and e-mails notifications) after the user completes it.
Rather than having to maintain 32 buttons, I would prefer to have two buttons that are available to each of the 16 sheets. Is there a way to do this?
I am having a small issue with my toggle buttons.
I have approximately 20 sheets that all have 4 toggle buttons on them. Coded as below (with different ranges for each button). So when I wrote them I took the easy (for me anyway) way and copied all the code for all the buttons in each sheet. (Buttons are named Zoom1, Zoom2 etc.)

I want to be able to manually enter text in the cells that contain formulas but then click a button next to the row if I want the formulas back. Here's what I have written so far. Basically, here is what I am after:
I have a sheet that already has 4 buttons active, with a handful of other subs that they are calling. I am wanting to be able to add new buttons and have them call a universal macro that will forward them to my existing subs. However, I'm wanting a variable to be set based on the Caption of the button that was clicked. For example:
I'd like to write a macro to create buttons with the caption "Fix" in over 300 cells. Furthermore, I would like each button, when pressed to run a macro that would copy and paste the values (paste special) of the entire row in which the button is situated as well as copy and "paste special" the values in the fixed cells $J$2, $K$2,$L$2, and $M$2. I've attached a file to clarify what I'm sure is an extremely convaluted statement of my problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI tried to search the forum for my unique problem but had no luck. As you will see attached, I have a series of excel buttons I need to duplicate and have target a different set of cells. I am hoping there is a way to avoid manually doing this.
The goal of the document is to push the button when both colours in the row and column interact (research on birds). There are two additional behaviours with an exact same set of buttons but they need to target "Body Rush" and "Food Displacement" tables underneath. I need all the buttons on one page since multiple behaviours happen simultaneously that need to be recorded.
I have something like 100+ modules in VBA I have created, I am hoping there is an easier way to do this so I don't have to create another ~200 modules in order to get the last two behaviours setup.
I am hoping there is either an easier button system or way to make buttons adjust somehow.

Is it possible to change the color of buttons or command buttons? There does not seem to be any place that allows this under properties for buttons, although there does for command bars. However, I've tried recording a macro as I change the color, but nothing get's recorded so I'm not sure what the syntax would be.
I have a spreadsheet with several buttons and I'd like them to change colors as they are pressed so it's possible to see what you've already done. And then, as soon as any other cell on the sheet is changed, the buttons reset color.
My problem is I cannot copy from a Form Control drop down box, and I need to do this for ~10 drop down boxes in about 200 xls files. The files follow a template so the drop down button Inputs are uniform. Here is some more detail:

We have hundreds of these files, but I managed to get all the files in one folder and Paste and Transpose the data from the relevant Cell Ranges in each file (using a VB sub) into ONE summary sheet. Success; or so I thought.
Unfortunately for one generation of the template (people changed them slightly every year), the template had people enter information into Drop Down Menus. Not a problem when they’re associated with a cell, but these were free floating Form Controls.. so you can’t actually click and copy from them, or call them in VB as you would a specific cell.. afaik.
So my issue is how can I extract the data from those Form Buttons? I’ll try and provide as much info as I can:
Firstly I tried to find some sort of identifier for each Form Button. The dropdowns are called Combo Boxes, (Developer tab > Insert > Combo Box (Form Control) ), and when you select them (by right clicking) and hit the View Code button in Developer Tab > Controls the following shows up in VB.

I’m guessing that the number is related to the button so that’s one useful thing, an identifier of sorts. There’s no actual code there though really from what I can see.. My problem is I have no idea how to extract from DropDown44!
The range of values in the drop down comes from a separate sheet where there’s just a list of the values. There aren’t any cells linked to the drop downs though. If I enter a cell in (Right Click) Format Control > Cell link: then it prints the number (e.g. 4) of the value in the range. So if the drop down options are “Monday”, “Tuesday”, “Wednesday”, “Thursday” and “Thursday” is selected, the linked cell says: “4”.
They didn’t link a cell, then I could call that cell in a VB sub and the job would be done. Unfortunately they didn’t, so I tried Recording a Macro and selecting the drop down form control.. That didn’t really work, except if I right clicked it, I got some more info from the macro VB:

So is my drop down an Array? My understanding of an Array is that it’s a list of arguments.. all I get there is the name of the button. I am not experienced in VB so this is as far as I’ve got. Perhaps I can get a sub to select the button using the above line, but I need the info from it, i.e. which value is currently selected in the Drop Down.
(Using Excel 2010 but the .xls files are from ~2005)
I have several option groups (Y & N in each) linked to cells to display TRUE / FALSE depending on which option is selected in each group. I have another cell which I want to apply conditional formatting to if EITHER Y or N is selected in all groups. At present I use COUNTIF to check for FALSE=0 in the linked cells which works if all the answers are Y. How do I apply CF if there is a mixture of Y & N (TRUE / FALSE) in all groups (I'm not sure if I've explained that well or not).

In the attached file, I created an example of a list Im trying to break down and combine data from multiple cells into one cell. As it shows on sheet1, level 1 has two people who occupy it, Paul and Peter. I am trying to get the names Paul and Peter to be combined in one cell next to the #1 as shown on sheet2. I want it to put the correct amount of people next to their corresponding number as shown on sheet2. Is there anything that I can use that may make my life a little simpler? This will be done on a weekly basis, and incorporates a couple hundred items.

The FOB PRICE in sheet JAN09SEA is in any of three currencies, HKD EUR or USD.
The output on sheet CONSOLIDATE should only be USD.
Also, you can see that some countries send their freight in two or even three different currencies. This would need to be accounted for.
Additionally to the currency issue, I need to sort the output to RM or FG. For that, on sheet CONSOLIDATE, we have a button located in G1 to switch types.
E.G. if presses for FG, the formula should only check for the values where the row is marked with FG in column X.
The freight charge is always in HKD and needs to be converted to USD as well. Also it should be FREIGHT = FREIGHT CHARGE + SURCHARGE converted to USD.
This is quite a lot of information. I hope someone can think of a solution for the problems.

I have a database of addresses that has each address as several rows which I want to convert into a single row. In the source file there is a blank row between records. I have attached a sample file with two sheets in it. One is the "before" data format and the other sheet is the "after" example of how I would like it to come out. We have thousands of records to convert so I need something that can be automated instead of a massive cut and paste operation.

Macro to sort column data.
I have a spreadsheet in the following format (just a flavour of the format)

Each row refers to a survey response, the first ten columns being standard demographics.
Following this each group of 5 columns for the next 100 columns represents a single response. What I want to do is convert each single row to multiple rows with the same first 10 columns and each single response on its own row like so:

I have workbook with multiple sheets with full of formulas. I need a excel macro which can convert formulas to values based on multiple conditions.
