Copy & Paste Specific Column Based On Cell Reference
May 20, 2008
I've searched for a solution on the board and the internet too but to no avail; I am trying to create a macro that will select the entire column based on a cell reference G1 which is infact a Date.
Column G to Column S are pre-defined with a specific Date in row 8. If the Date in one of these columns (G8 to S8) match with the Date in cell G1, say it finds a match with H8, then I want to copy the range F14:F2000 and paste as values in range H14:H2000. The possibility of a match found is limited to a single columns from G to S.
Basically, I need to copy and paste upon certain condition (references) and paste related-datas in another sheet corresponding with these references. Every references are organized by lines with indicators on columns.
In attached file, see: - worksheet ANALYSIS: * datas in E2, G2, D18, D19, D20, D21, D22 that needs to be copy based on reference in C2, * then need to find this reference in worksheet called GROUP SAVE, * and based on this reference, paste above cells value in corresponding "Indicators" column number
THEN, I will have to do pretty much the same with subgroup data. But I can figure out for this second step that request same manipulation.
I have a spreadsheet and I was wondering if there is a way to copy from a specific range in say A1:A5 in Sheet1 and paste into Sheet2 where the column matches cell A1 in Sheet1.
I am trying to do this in VBA and I was wondering if there is a way to do this.
I have rather large Excel file that spans around 245 columns & has multiple users responsible for certain columns. Columns are chunked to provide data about a specific group. Every 72 hours, I need to provide to managers what’s currently on this file in a specific summary format.
I’ve recorded a macro that gets me half way there. Here’s where I’m clueless. After my macro deletes unnecessary columns, what remains are the columns for “Main Data” group + each of the 5 “Business” groups (Investors, Lawyers, Credit, Finance, and Support) which would have identical column headings.
(1) Name (2) Address (3) ID# (4) Control#
Furthermore, for each of the 5 “Business” groups, there are 9 slots (ie- a user can enter up to 9 unique entries for a particular group.)
Example- The Investor group contains 9 slots. Each slot will contain the 4 columns mentioned above. So there are 46 slots in total – 1 for Main Data, 45 (5 groups x 9 slots) for Business groups.
MY PROBLEM: I need a macro to now cut & paste all data from each of the 45 Business groups slots & then paste at the bottom of the MAIN DATA slot.
The final file would be 4 columns (as listed above) wide. Data from each of the 45 business group slots would be one below the other- all of it underneath the data in the Main Data group.
I attempted to record a macro where I’m copying a section’s data range starting from row2 to row4000 (I know there will never be 4000 entries. I did this just to ensure that all future data would be captured) then pasting that after the last entry in the Main Data.
Example- I’d copy data from Investor1 slot(starting at column E2-H2) & go about 4000 rows down. Then I’d press CTRL+Down Arrow key in column A & then click the down arrow one time to take me into 1st empty cell where I would paste my copied data. I was going to repeat this process for the remaining 44 slots.
I’ve added some extra entries to test the macro & the problem is that the recorded macro is pasting data in specific cell location in column A instead for looking for the 1st empty cell in column A & then pasting the copied data.
So far I've gone thought the net & tried to paste in a few VBA posts/tips that I thought would work. Here's what I have so far from tinkering around. I need someone to tell me what to replace the xxxxxxx line with. This would be the language to tell Excel to paste copied data range into the first blank cell in column A. Here's what I have so far from tinkering around. I need someone to tell me what to replace the xxxxxxx line with. This would be the language to tell Excel to paste copied data range into the first blank cell in column A.
Sub transposedata() Sheets("ConsolidatedYTDReport").Select Range("E2:H4202").Select Selection.Copy XXXXXXXXXXXX ActiveSheet.Paste End Sub
Please see attached sample worksheet. Column A will be generated by the user manually.
I'm looking for a way in VBA to have A1:D20 in Sheet2 copied and pasted in the "Bank Reconciliation" Sheet based on how many "Markets" there are in Column A. Then, once that's complete to have A22:D30 (the smaller box in Sheet2) copied and pasted directly below those results.
I have what the macro would hopefully generate to the right in "Bank Reconciliation" (B6:E54) as an example. So if there's a market in A1, copy and paste the box to B6. If there's a market in A2, copy and paste the box directly below the first (B26) etc. etc. until it's done, then paste the smaller box directly below whatever the macro generates.
I have dates in Column I (for the whole year) and i would like to paste them into specific cells in three different Columns A,B,C (ie A2, A5, A8, A11 etc) Same Numbers different letter for each respective column. I can get it to go from one cell to another but when i try to specify specific cells
This is what i have so far:
Sub Test() Range("I1").Select Selection.Copy Range("A2").Select ActiveSheet.Paste End Sub
I enter a part number in "D1". The number of components required for that part number is returned in "G1" based on a VLookup. I would like a macro that will copy and paste the part number I enter in "D1" in the first empty cell in column "D" and will paste it once for each component (G1) required. For example, if the number of components required is 4, and the first empty cell in column "D" is "D10", I would like to paste the part number in cells "D10", "D11", "D12", and "D13".
I need to copy and paste the specific dates from the specific city that the user will insert in the "dash" sheet. Basically, I need the macro to read the city and range of dates that the user will type into the "dash" sheet and copy the columns "AA" to "AD" from rows specified by the dates input. Once it has been copied, it has to be special pasted just the value onto the sheet "1" beginning at location B2.
the the data will not be available as it is vlookups to another excel sheet that i have not provided. I have deleted the data, but you can pretty much put 1's everywhere.
I have about 10 rows of data that have columns of information describing computer hardware and pricing. There are 10 rows, because each row represents a different country and different tax rates and pricing changes per country. So each column of a row has a specific formula to calculate information for that row's country information. All these 10 rows of formulas are kept as a reference at the bottom of the sheet.
At the top of the sheet I need to have a drop down menu to choose a country and then it will automatically copy and paste the row of that country to the current row at the top.
Is there any easy copy/paste macro for such a thing?
i am writing a custom copy/paste routine which will paste data from a selection if the cell being pasted to is not locked.
The user will select the text for coping and then launch the routine.
The routine will query for destination cell and then process the paste.
This is my routine so far:
Sub testCopy()
Dim c As Range Dim MyRange As Range Dim Dest As Range
Set MyRange = Selection Set Dest = Application.InputBox(prompt:="Select a cell", _ Title:="Paste Destination", Type:=8)
For Each c In MyRange If Dest.Locked = False Then Dest.Value = c.Value End If 'dest = ? Next c End Sub
What I need to know is how to increment the dest reference so it is in the same 'relative' position from the initial dest that c (from the selection) is in or is there a better way to do this?
I have a cell that contains various data but in the cell there will be a string of characters that will begin with either ON or TN followed by numbers. What I would like to do is have the sheet look at that cell and if there's a TN12345 (or any combination of numbers) or an ON123456 (same idea as the TN) I would like the sheet to pull just the ON or TN number out and paste it in a specific cell. The ON would have it's own cell to be placed in as would the TN.
Here's an example. C5 contains various data, a mix of text and numbers but it will have either an ON or a TN or both. I would like the sheet to automatically pull the TN number out and place it in A5 and the ON in B5. I would like this process to repeat all the way through the sheet to the max amount of rows since I have no way of knowing how many rows I'll need. Can this be done with a simple IF formula or does it have to be done in VBA or is it not possible at all.
I use the following codes to copy a cell which contains a picture and paste it to another worksheet. I think these codes copy more than just the picture.
Since pictures in Excel are not associated with cells, how do I copy just the picture in a particular cell and how to determine the size of the picture?
I have a excel file with two worksheets. I need to find a specific row in column g, cut the entire row, and paste it into sheet2. I have started off by using this code, that I got off of some site. It works wonderfully in finding the specific cell, but just copys and moves the specific cell into sheet2. Whereas I need it to cut and paste the entire row where it finds the cell that begins with a 3 in column G.
Sub Copy_To_Another_Sheet_1() Dim FirstAddress As String Dim myArr As Variant Dim Rng As Range Dim Rcount As Long Dim i As Long
From mySQL database, i am getting a ton of data that is all being inputted into a single excel cell. Within this cell, there are certain data points that i wish to obtain (Bank #, SSN #, Routing #). There are multiple difficulties in obtaining this information.
1. these cells contain the same fields, but different number of total characters (differing in names, addresses, etc.)
2. some of the data points (like SSN) are inputted incorrectly, so even though a SSN is only 9 digits/characters, I may have to output all 11 that the SQL database placed within the cell.
Can I get some help? I'm thinking of a search function/macro within excel, because all of the fields show up correctly.
something like (i know this doesn't work)
= or("cellA1" contains/finds/function SSN,return the 9 characters after "SSN ")
um...yeah. difficult to explain, i'm sorry!
edit: not sure what is wrong the file. I have attached a new one.
I have an Excel Spread Sheet that lists all of the people who have been issued Keys in your workplace, so the row has multiple information columns (Name, Department, Key Code, etc). One row is titled "Left Workplace" and you can select either a Yes or a No. Based on that selction I want it to copy and paste into a different spreadsheet (Either Inactive - if "No" is selected or Active - if "Yes" is selected) What is the best way to go about this?
I've two sheets: "present" and "removed". I would like to have a whole row copied and deleted and existing rows moved up in "present" when I type the word "yes" in column E. The deleted rows are to be pasted into "removed", with two extra pieces of data - date removed and name of person removing it - to be asked in pop up boxes and inserted into col F and G respectively in "removed".
I would like to copy and paste the values from a worksheet (HS-Detail) in a file to different tabs depending on the value in column A (Regions). I have a macro that works but it pastes the formulas and it takes quiet a while to run due to the number of records. How can I alter this to paste just the values and speed up the macro?
the above information have following header ie. Location, P.O.Box, Address, Tel, Fax and Category.
every time one of the header inforamtion is missing ie. Address or P.O.Box, Or Fax, due to this problem every time cell address of information aganist header is change. supose in first copy/paste Tel inforamtion is in A15, but second time it may be on A13, and 3rd time it may be on A17 and so on.
I want to make a macro which search header ("Location", "P.O.Box", "Address", "Tel", "Fax", "Category" ) from a Range A1:A30. than down two steps to copy header information (75325412) and paste in fixed cell location C1:C5 (C1=Name, C2=Location, C3: P.O.Box, C4=Address, C5=Tel, C6=Fax, C7=Category) in same sheet. and repeat the steps to copy information aganist header from all header in Range A1:A30.
My workbook contains several worksheets each recording the results of equipment tests - one sheet for each piece of equipment. Rather than open each worksheet to check the date of the last test, other 'overview' worksheets pick up and display the last test date from each equipment record using the formula =MAX('sheetref'!A15:A500). Is there a better formula to do this?
Some items of equipment are tested at more than one frequency, ie Monthly, Yearly, etc. Therefore, the entry on row 15 of an equipment record may be column A 28/10/08 column D 'M' and row 16 column A 29/10/08 column D 'Y'. The above formula will only display the last test date, irrespective of frequency. There is a seperate overview sheet for each test frequency therefore, I need to modify the formula so that the date it copies from the equipment record worksheet to the overview worksheet is the date of the last test for the specified frequency.
I have a file that has two sheets, I have some formulas in the first sheet named "Data",What i would like to have is, If column G in the sheet Data is "Closed", then i want that particular row to be cut from the sheet " Data" and pated in to the Sheet "Done".
Sub Test() For Each Cell In Sheets(1).Range("J:J") If Cell.Value = "131125" Then
[Code]....
This works great except that it pastes formulas. I would like to paste values only. I've tried " PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _ :=False, Transpose:=False" and it gives me an error.
I have a spreadsheet with two tabs Line Crew and Master Log. I have a macro that searches the Master Log Column H for a value "Line Crew" and if it finds it, it will copy that row (Specified range) to the Line Crew tab. My problem with the macro is that it keeps copying the same row. I would like it to move down to the next row search for "Line Crew" , copy and paste until it gets to the end of Master Log Sheet. I have attached a sample of the spreadsheet. Here is my code:
I have data on sheet-1 ("MEAL CHART") that I copy over to sheet-2 (Nutri_DB) daily. The macro below is working for me when I post the data the same day it is recorded. However, I frequently need to post my data the day before or day after it is recorded.
I would like to modify my code below so it copies/pastes the data based on the date in cell B1 (Named range "DATE") not the actual date (today()).
I have a huge data set as given follow and want to Copy a the value of treatment from the cell having Treatment description at some other sheet through VBA
'UPDATE [XYZ 1213] SET TreatmentDescription = '000' WHERE ( ("Abc" < 00) );' 'UPDATE [XYZ 1111] SET TreatmentDescription = '093' WHERE ( ("wer" < 00) );'
Like in upper code I want the output sheet 2 as Cell A1 = '000' and A2 = '093' and so on
